Switch 2 gets new pre-order date in late April for US
Nintendo has announced an updated date for Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in the United States. Originally scheduled for April 9, but delayed by news of tariffs, Nintendo has pushed the launch of U.S. pre-orders to April 24. The company announced via press release that the console’s price — $449.99, with a $499.99 version that includes Mario Kart World — will remain the same. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch. However, per the company’s statement, “Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions. Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions. Product and pricing information can be found at www.nintendo.com.” Nintendo affirmed that Switch 2’s June 5 launch in the U.S. and other countries wouldn’t change. When Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 on April 2, the company said it planned to start pre-orders in many territories the following week. But after U.S. President Donald Trump announced sweeping, double-digit tariffs on countries like China, Vietnam, and Japan, Nintendo said it was delaying pre-orders in the U.S. (and, later, in Canada) indefinitely while it “assess[ed] the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions.” In addition to delaying pre-orders, Nintendo has also reportedly earmarked the majority of its supply of Switch 2 consoles manufactured in Vietnam for U.S. customers in order to bypass Trump’s steepest tariffs.
