GameStop will give you up to $175 for your old Switch when you pre-order a Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 will cost $449.99, and will be available to pre-order April 24. The closest thing to a discount on the pricey console comes from GameStop, which is offering a trade-in credit for your old Switch to apply to a Switch 2 pre-order. The offer starts on April 24 when GameStop stores open at their regular hours and at 11 a.m. EDT for online orders, and lasts through April 30.
You can redeem the trade-in credit on any new or existing Switch 2 pre-order done through GameStop. Different Switch models will get you varying amounts of credit to apply to the cost of the Switch 2. Here’s what trade-in credit you’ll get for each Switch model:
Switch OLED: $175 credit
Standard Switch: $125 credit
Switch Lite: $100 credit
If you’re a GameStop Pro member, you’ll get an extra 10% added to the standard Switch trade-in credit.
If you pre-order a Switch 2 at GameStop, then later realize you want to trade in your Switch, you’ll be able to modify your reservation with a boosted trade-in through April 30. In order to get these advertised trade-in valuations, GameStop shared with Polygon that you’ll need to provide all of the following items:
Switch OLED and standard Switch: Console, dock, working Joy-Con with wrist straps, Joy-Con grip, power cord and HDMI cable.
Switch Lite: Console and power cable
If you don’t have all of these items, your console may still be accepted at a lower value.
