After being announced in January, Instagram’s new CapCut competitor is now available on the App Store. The app is called ‘Edits’, and was announced in direct response to the TikTok ban earlier this year. The app was initially set to launch in February. Instagram Edits launch Meta is taking a page directly out of TikTok’s playbook, and is today launching a new video editing tool for short-form content creators. The new app, dubbed ‘Edits’, has all the tools needed to support your content creation process on mobile. It’s also available completely for free, whereas CapCut requires a subscription for certain features. Edits has a number of highly desirable features for content creation, including an intuitive UI that makes it easy to keep track of all of your drafts and videos in one place, easily export your videos to other platforms, and share directly to Instagram. If you’re an Instagram Reels creator, the app offers deep insights and analytics, allowing you to better plan what to make next. Video editing features As for the content creation side of things, Edits has a built-in camera for capturing high quality clips up to 10 minutes long. Those captured clips can then be edited as soon as you’re done shooting. Edits also allows for easy usage of trending and licensed audio. Here’s everything Edits offers for video editing, per Meta’s App Store description: Edit videos with single-frame precision. Get the look you want with camera settings for resolution, framerate and dynamic range, plus upgraded flash and zoom controls. Bring images to life with AI animation. Change up your background with green screen or add a video overlay. Choose from a variety of fonts, sound and voice effects, video filters, stickers and more. Enhance audio to make voices clearer and remove background noise. Generate captions automatically and customize how they appear in your video. Instagram Edits is available for download on the App Store today. It’s also available on Android starting today.
