The push for AI across tech isn't just consumer facing, it's seeing many of the world's biggest companies introduce AI into its workflows such as writing code for its products. The latest company to reveal statistics is Microsoft, which says up to 30% of its code is written by AI tools.Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, said so in conversation with Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, during the latter's AI developer conference called LlamaCon. Nadella said, “I’d say maybe 20%, 30% of the code that is inside of our repos today and some of our projects are probably all written by software.”Nadella then flipped the question back to Zuckerberg who didn’t give a clear answer on its current statistics as he didn’t have the numbers to mind. However, he did share a company goal.“Our bet is sort of that in the next year… maybe half the development is going to be done by AI, as opposed to people", Zuckerberg said. "Then that will just kind of increase from there." Meta's version is designed as a tool to help improve AI integration with its smart glasses, but it also works as an assistant directly on Android or iOS devices.Back in October 2024, Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared that the company was using AI to write over 25% of its code. This is a big goal for many tech companies, and we’re going to continue to hear updates from CEOs as more and more code is written by AI tools.Duolingo CEO Luis von Ahn said on Monday that the company would be pivoting to an AI focused business saying it plans to move more work to automated tools with a long-term aim to remove human contract workers.
