Now, on this side of the Atlantic, the Belgian fashion house continues to expand its retail footprint: The bi-level brick-and-mortar destination that just arrived in New York is personally designed and curated by Van Noten. Located on Soho’s Mercer Street, it’s evocative of a gallery, mingling ready-to-wear men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, and beauty products under soaring ceilings. Most notably, artworks abound: There’s Tracey Emin’s offset lithograph on a paper napkin, for example, as well as a Gaetano Pesce resin chair and a 1990s Carlo Scarpa bookcase. Antwerp designer and craftsman Ben Storms lends a contemporary flourish to the space via his striking works, exemplified in a crushed gold-leaf room divider.AD PRO Hears……DWR is teaming up with vacation-rental brand Boutique to offer a chic desert retreat: The Miles C. Photo: Tom BassettNina Takesh first made a name for herself with Petit Trésor, the luxury LA baby boutique frequented by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Madonna. Now, building upon her swish, sculptural interiors, the Los Angeles–based designer has dreamed up 14 pieces of locally crafted furniture. Informed by memories of her architect father and her formative studies in Paris, the line is distinguished by stacked, curving silhouettes and lush Misia fabrics. Standouts include the modular Rêverie sofa flanked by embracing arms, the Étoile bed backdropped by a tailored headboard, and the marble-accented Mélange credenza that enticingly doubles as storage.Danny Kaplan Studio unveils a trifecta of collections in recently opened NoHo showroomThe Collage rug by Danny Kaplan Studio. Photo: William Jess LairdThroughout May, New York artist and designer Danny Kaplan’s warm, homey showroom loft in NoHo will be graced with a slew of new creations. Debuting just in time for NYCxDesign, the unveils include the Facet metal furniture range—a follow-up to last year’s ethereal sconces—including an Art Deco–inspired chair and table. Kaplan’s also collaborated with textile maker Esha Ahmed on Collage, an assemblage of merino wool and silk rugs hand-knotted in Nepal. Based on carefree sketches, their bold purple and aquamarine hues call to mind Kaplan’s ceramic glazes. Meanwhile, the new Divot mirrors developed with designer Joseph Algieri explore the relationship between color, resin, and textural clay.
