Pritzker Prize winner Liu Jiakun talks about 'On Land: for Community' with fellow laureates
Organizers of the Pritzker Prize have posted a video of their recent lecture and panel discussion with Liu Jiakun, the 2025 laureate and second-ever winner from China.
Jiakun, in a rare public appearance outside his home country, takes to the lectern for an overview of his life and works before joining the three most recent laureates—David Chipperfield, Francis Kéré, and Riken Yamamoto—to talk about the architecture of Chengdu and their shared approaches to designing urban spaces geared towards users' needs and concerns for justice and community, as well as other philosophical aims.
The full, two-hour presentation On Land: for Community is below, courtesy of The Pritzker Architecture Prize. Our selection of 11 of Jiakun's most significant projects to date can be found here.
