The Switch 2 isn’t even out yet, and it’s already stirring up debate—this time over its controversial new “key card” system. Unlike the original Switch cartridges, these cards don’t contain any actual game data. Instead, they just act as proof of purchase, requiring players to download the full game separately. Jan Rosner, VP of business development at CD Projekt, recently spoke out about the importance of physical editions in a new interview. Rosner emphasized that choosing to release a cartridge-based version of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for the Switch 2 was “the right thing to do,” saying developers shouldn’t underestimate the value of physical media—especially on Nintendo platforms
