The 5 new GTA 6 Trailer 2 Easter eggs only superfans will have noticed
The 5 new GTA 6 Trailer 2 Easter eggs only superfans will have noticed Michael Beckwith Published May 9, 2025 5:50pm Updated May 9, 2025 5:50pm Did you spot any of these? (Rockstar Games) Fans have not stopped combing the new GTA 6 trailer for further clues and secrets, and they’ve found a surprising amount of interesting stuff. Considering fans had to wait over a year for a new GTA 6 trailer, it’s no surprise that they’ve combed the most recent one frame by frame for any potential secrets. Although it didn’t reveal much of GTA 6’s story, that wasn’t already known, the trailer seems to have teased a number of gameplay details, like multiple fighting styles and the return of a character from the PlayStation 2 games. Since then, more easy to miss details have been shared amongst the GTA community, although it’s hard to say whether Rockstar Games intended them merely as fun Easter eggs or potential hints at major features and perhaps even new games. GTA 6 x Red Dead Redemption crossover Could Red Dead Redemption be a distant prequel to the GTA series? (Rockstar Games) GTA 5 already has a few references to Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption games, like a T-shirt with the first game’s protagonist John Marston printed on it. However, the eagle eyed Synth Potato on X has spotted evidence in the new GTA 6 trailer that indicates GTA and Red Dead Redemption share the same universe. If you zoom in on the money been thrown around during the strip club scenes, you’ll see that they have the faces of two of the fictional US presidents mentioned in Red Dead Redemption 2: Thaddeus Waxman and President Hardin. While likely just a simple Easter egg, this is enough proof for some fans to believe the two franchises exist in the same universe, though whether Rockstar will do anything with this, beyond the occasional reference, is another question entirely. Vice City 80s flashback If Jason’s blue shirt looks familiar, that’s probably intentional (Rockstar Games) With GTA 6 set in the Florida inspired state of Leonida, Rockstar is using the opportunity to take fans back to Vice City, a location not seen in the series since the two GTA: Vice City games from the mid-2000s. Those games were set in the 80s, so GTA 6’s modern take on the setting looks radically different, but there are bound to be some nostalgic callbacks and references. One that has already been spotted, once again by Synth Potato, is not in the trailer but one of the many new screenshots released alongside it. In the screenshot, co-protagonist Jason can be seen standing outside of what looks like the Ocean View Hotel, which served as your first safehouse in the original Vice City game. On top of that, Jason’s blue palm tree shirt looks similar to the one worn by Vice City protagonist Tommy Vercetti. The similarities are more apparent in a new key visual for GTA 6 (as seen above), which feels too deliberate to be a coincidence. GTA Online in GTA 6 Looks like Yung Ancestor has got himself a fancy new logo too (Rockstar Games) Sticking with fans’ obsession with shirts, MacaroniMike89 on Reddit believes they’ve spotted references to GTA Online, the multiplayer component of GTA 5, in two other screenshots. In the above strip club image, someone can be seen on the far right wearing a shirt bearing the name for rapper Yung Ancestor, a rapper who appeared as part of the Diamond Casino heist in GTA Online. In a separate screenshot, a second pedestrian can be seen wearing the same shirt while doing a wheelie on their bike. It’s faint but it looks identical to the shirt in the first image (Rockstar Games) This could be nothing but a simple reference, but some fans think these are hints at Yung Ancestor making an appearance. A few of GTA 6’s new characters are rappers looking to make it big, which suggests the music business will play a key part in GTA 6’s story. Even if it’s not a big role, Yung Ancestor could serve as an ally for related missions, much like how he was in GTA Online where he helped you with the heist. The return of Michael from GTA 5 Is this the Rockstar equivalent of Pixar hiding the Pizza Planet truck in its movies?(Rockstar Games/YouTube) One common request among fans is for GTA 6 to bring back at least one of the protagonists of GTA 5. Trevor’s actor, Steve Ogg, has said he’s open to the idea (if only so his character is killed off) and Michael’s actor, Ned Luke, is speculated to have teased his inclusion back in 2023. You’ll likely need to wait until GTA 6 is actually out to see if any of GTA 5’s cast makes a return, although fans of Michael hope they’ve found evidence of his appearance in the new trailer. Early in the trailer, at around the 22 second mark, you can see a white boat with blue stripes parked in Jason’s yard. It is seemingly identical to the boat Michael owns, or rather owned, since it gets stolen during one of GTA 5’s missions. As such, could the boat in Jason’s yard be the exact same one? If so, was Jason the one to steal the boat or did it come into his possession afterwards? Either way, Ned Luke is having fun rolling with the idea, taking to X to post, ‘I’m coming Jason… for my boat.’ Future GTA 6 expansions Leonida is already going to be massive, but could Rockstar have more locations planned as DLC? (Rockstar/X) This one is more fan speculation than an Easter egg, but it’s an intriguing one all the same. As highlighted by TGG on X, several cars sport licence plates for different states besides Leonida, including Gloriana and Liberty, both of which appeared in previous GTA games. More Trending While this could just be to add some variety and make the setting feel more alive, some fans have suggested that this is hinting at DLC expansions. It has been rumoured before that new cities to explore will be added as post-launch DLC. Plus, a 2020 report claimed that one plan for GTA 6’s launch would have the game be a ‘moderately sized release’ at first and then be updated over time. If not for the main game, such expansions could be planned for whatever GTA 6’s inevitable multiplayer mode is. Rockstar has not officially confirmed anything, but a GTA Online 2 is believed to be in the works to help keep GTA 6 active and generate revenue for many more years after launch. It’s far too soon to be thinking about DLC, though, with GTA 6 not set to launch for another year, on May 26, 2026, following the decision to delay it beyond the original autumn 2025 release window.
