Apple TV+ to arrive on Amazon Prime by the end of October
Apple and Amazon have confirmed an agreement that will bring the Apple TV+ streaming service to Amazons Prime Video platform. The additional content will be available in the United States by the end of October.Apple TV+ will now join other streaming packages such as Paramount+, (WBD) Max, and AMC+ as a subscription-based add-on for Prime Video members. With the addition of Apples exclusive coverage of Major League Soccer and Friday night Major League Baseball action, Prime Video subscribers will now have more sports on offer, as the overall appeal of Amazons over-the-top service is enhanced.Apple TV+ will cost $9.99 per month, with all content able to be enjoyed within the Prime Video app, as applies to all existing streaming add-ons.Although the tech titans are considered to be rival companies to an extent, they are existing partners.Amazons Fire TV portal already contains an Apple TV+ app, while the iPhone makers 4k boxes also offer Prime Video as a streaming service.More importantly, the deal is about scale and increasing the customer base, as acknowledged by company bosses. In another move aimed at expansion, Apple partnered with Indias second-largest telecoms firm last month, targeting its service offerings at 281 million users. On announcing their deal adding @AppleTV+ to their @PrimeVideo channels, "What we offer channel partners is hundreds of millions of subscribers around the world that have access to their channel." says @AmazonMGMStudios Mike Hopkins at #BloombergScreentime pic.twitter.com/hAH588VB3m Bloomberg Live (@BloombergLive) October 10, 2024Hundreds of millions of usersAs the agreement was announced at the Bloomberg Screentime Conference Wednesday evening, Prime Video chief Mike Hopkins said, Our companies do a lot of business together, and I want to thank Eddy Cue, who I know isnt here tonight, but he and his team have done a great job with this deal, and were excited to get it going. In a statement, Apples Senior VP of Services, Eddy Cue stated, We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the worlds greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible. He added the company was thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+.Apple is still establishing itself as a streaming player, compared to the sheer reach of Prime Video which has hundreds of millions of users, as intimated by Hopkins. He sees the attraction for partners in terms of the simplicity and scale that Amazon offers through its flagship content service, which is set to serve more ads in 2025.I think having this engagement around the world with Prime members accessing Prime Video is a real great platform for other partners to be able to reach them, easy access to the subscriber base, one-stop shop, easy navigation, one-click subscription, right in one app.Image credit: Via IdeogramThe post Apple TV+ to arrive on Amazon Prime by the end of October appeared first on ReadWrite.
