Though it wasn't the first hero shooter on the market, 2016's Overwatch took the genre to new heights, and its continued success over the years has kept it on the throne. While a few hero shooters have attempted to steal Overwatch's crown, few have managed to outlive Blizzard's genre-defining title. 2024 could finally be the year Overwatch loses its throne, though Concord might not be the usurper PlayStation wants it to be.
