Pacific Palisades fire threatens Getty Villa and other landmarks
The fast-moving Palisades Firehas reached the grounds of the Getty Villa, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Flames were reported approaching structures late Tuesday afternoon. The museum, originally designed to replicate a Roman villa and extensively renovated by SPF:a and Machado Silvetti, includes galleries, conservation facilities, and a 500-seat amphitheater. The site houses over 44,000 Greek and Roman antiquities and remains closed to the public.Other architecturally significant structures in the area, including homes by Richard Neutra and Cliff May, are also at risk as the fire continues to grow.
