ZDNETThe Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is the place to be if you want to learn about new smart home devices. While many of the devices showcased at CES are years away from reaching the market, 2025 has delivered some of the best smart home tech actually coming to physical and virtual store shelves this year. Also: CES 2025: The 13 most impressive products so farAs ZDNET's smart home reviewer, I've been walking the trade show floors in search of the best products released this year. But dozens of outstanding smart home devices have made this the hardest year to narrow down the list. Read on to find my picks for the best smart home tech at CES 2025.1. Roborock Saros Z70Best robot vacuum at CES 2025 Maria Diaz/ZDNETThe Roborock Saros Z70 is one of the most groundbreaking devices in its category in years. It's a robot vacuum and mop combination with a five-axis mechanical arm tucked into the robot's body. The arm deploys when a temporary obstacle is detected, like a sock or tissue on the floor, to grab the small item and move it to a predetermined spot in your home, like a basket. Also:Roborock's new 'mechanical arm' robot vacuum is unlike anything I've ever seenThis robot vacuum first cleans your floors while spotting obstacles in its path. Then, it makes a second pass to pick up these obstacles, place them elsewhere, and clean the spot where the obstacle was. The Roborock Saros Z70 is launching in the first half of 2025, though no price is available yet.Honorable mentionsEcovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni: This robot vacuum and mop brings the self-washing mop roller to the Ecovacs family in one of the most innovative ways I've seen yet -- as an extendable mop that can clean along the edges of walls and low furniture. The X8 Pro Omni will be available on February 18, though no pricing info is available yet.Mova V50 Ultra: This new robot vacuum brand is entering the market this year with an industry-leading 24,000Pa of suction power and a specialized cleaning system to switch mop pads and cleaning solutions according to the mess detected. This robot vacuum and mop is launching later this year.2. Ultraloq Bolt MissionBest smart home security device at CES 2025 Maria Diaz/ZDNETThe new Ultraloq Bolt Mission supports ultra-wideband technology to unlock your door when you approach it with an authorized device, like the phone in your pocket. It then detects when you're inside the home, so it doesn't unlock without you being on the outside approaching the door. You don't have to enter a passcode or use a physical key to unlock it, though you can if you want to. It also supports NFC for added convenience. You can sign up to be notified when the Ultraloq Bolt Mission UWB + NFC smart lock is available. It will retail for $400.Honorable mentionsLockly Prestige Duet Series: Though many smart locks at CES 2025 feature a display to show you a live feed of your front door, this Lockly device takes it up a notch with dual cameras (2K- and FHD-resolution cameras) and facial recognition to unlock.TCL Security Cam B1: This is one of the best values in a security camera right now. At $100, the solar-powered TCL B1 rivals other cameras at over twice its price. It has a built-in solar panel, 2K resolution, and a 10,000mAh battery. It's been available for purchase since October.SwitchBot Video Doorbell: The new SwitchBot video doorbell features a 4.3-inch display that you can place inside your home to see who's at the door in real time and communicate with them. The doorbell is 2K resolution and has up to 20 months of battery life.3. Segway Navimow X3 SeriesBest robot lawn mower at CES 2025 SegwayThere are many robot lawnmowers at CES each year, but the brand-new Segway Navimow X3 Series addresses many issues with most of the ones on the market. The Navimow X3 Series features a built-in trimmer on the side to maintain lawn edges and accelerated mowing speeds, allowing it to mow up to 1.5 acres in 24 hours. As a robot mower user, the biggest drawback is the missed edges. The Navimow X3 Series takes care of edges as it goes with a side-mounted trimmer, promising to leave behind a crisp and thoroughly trimmed lawn. This AI technology solves a big problem when scheduling load shifting in our home, as you can ask it to suggest a schedule instead of doing it manually.Honorable mentionsEureka J15 Max Ultra: While a robot vacuum and mop may not seem synonymous with AI, the newest flagship from Eureka uses the technology for visual and image recognition. The robot is smart enough to detect clear liquids in front of it, turn off the suction, and turn around to mop up the liquid with the mop pads. This robot will be available in June for $1,299.Withings Omnia: This AI-powered mirror gives insights into your health metrics, including weight, and interprets body composition and nutrition data.
