Halo and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth coming to Switch 2 claims insiderAdam StarkeyPublished January 10, 2025 6:03pmUpdated January 10, 2025 6:03pm Master Chief might even be a launch title for Switch 2 (Xbox Game Studios)Microsofts biggest IP is going multiplatform according to an insider, as more leaks about third party support for the Nintendo Switch 2.Leaks around Nintendos next console have accelerated to a daily occurrence over the past month and while this has been predominantly concerned with the hardware, more information has started to emerge about Switch 2 software as well.Some third party games have seemingly been outed via a French retailer, with Tekken 8 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both touted as potential launch titles, but it seems Microsoft might also be planning to support the console in a significant capacity.Microsoft has already strongly pivoted towards multi-platform releases, with Indiana Jones And The Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages set to come to PlayStation 5 this year, but an insider claims Halo: The Master Chief Collection is also planned for various platforms, including Switch 2.Speaking on his podcast, insider NateTheHate, who was key in outing Xboxs multi-platform plans last year, claimed he has heard Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator (he doesnt specify which game, but presumably 2024) will both come to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025.Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer recently said there are no red lines when it comes to putting first party games on other formats, opening the possibility for Halo coming to other consoles, but it will still be a significant announcement if it does turn out to be true.NateTheHate doesnt stop there either. Outside of Microsoft, he claims Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will come to Xbox in 2025 and 2026, respectively, adding: The games will also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2.While hes confident these ports exists, hes uncertain as to when they will be announced, suggesting Microsofts upcoming Developer Direct on January 23 as a possibility.Ports of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth have been rumoured for a long time on Xbox, with both seemingly bound by limited time console exclusivity deals on PlayStation. Square Enix has recently spoken about its new multiplatform plans though, following sales of Rebirth falling below expectations, so this would fall in line with that new strategy.Following these rumours, Windows Centrals Jez Corden has claimed way more Microsoft games are planned for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.Is The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake real? Oblivion is in need of some TLC (Bethesda)While Microsoft hasnt made any official announcement, a remaster or remake of Oblivion has been rumoured for some time, following a leak back in 2023. Last month, several insiders claimed the revamped Oblivion would launch this year, with a possible reveal in January.On his podcast, NateTheHate has now claimed Oblivion will be coming out in 2025 and its currently slated to release in the month of June. However, hes unclear if it will appear at the upcoming Developer Direct, pointing instead to the games anniversary on March 20 as a possible reveal date.More TrendingMicrosoft has confirmed its upcoming presentation will feature Doom: The Dark Ages, South By Midnight from Compulsion Games, Clair Obscura: Expedition 33, and an unknown mystery game. Only South By Midnight is currently exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC, with the other two also confirmed for PlayStation 5.
