Dynasty Warriors: Origins allows you to lay waste to entire armies by utilizing all sorts of armaments. While you do start with but a standard sword, you get to acquire more gear pieces as you advance further into the campaign. Here's our guide on how to unlock all weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. All unlockable weapons in Dynasty Warriors: OriginsAs of the time of this writing, we've noticed that there are 10 weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. These are the Sword, Spear, Gauntlets, Wheels, Podao, Staff, Twin Pikes, Lance, Crescent Blade, and Halberd. Our Dynasty Warriors: Origins weapons guide is organized based on when we were able to acquire these armaments during our playthrough. We talk about the missions/battles where they drop, as well as notable abilities that you should make use of. Sword weapon unlock and skillsLocation: As mentioned earlier, the Sword is your default weapon upon starting the campaign in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.Notable skills: Mad Blade Rush is a pretty decent option that causes the Wanderer to run forward while slashing foes. Absconding Slash, meanwhile, is a special art that we genuinely disliked. Although it can interrupt an enemy skill and cause a stagger, it also makes the Wanderer move several steps backward from the target. Spear weapon unlock and skillsLocation: Post-Battle of Guangyang (Chapter 1) - There's a short cutscene in town just after the battle. You're then told to purchase the Spear from a store.Notable skills: Both Wild Rush and Rising Dragon Vortex are great for striking enemies from afar, either at ground level or from mid-air/through air juggling. However, the best ability might be Piercing Vengeance, which lets you activate a parry stance for a longer period to trigger a counterattack if you get hit. Gauntlets weapon unlock and skills Location: Battle of Guangzong (Chapter 1) - We picked up the Gauntlets after defeating Zhou Cang in this level.Notable skills: What makes the Gauntlets weapon in Dynasty Warriors: Origins unique is that you can activate a stance by pressing the heavy attack button. This allows you to follow up with a flurry of punches and kicks. As for skills, the flashiest one that we've seen is called Heaven and Earth's Wrath, which makes the Wanderer do a devastating jumping powerbomb on a hapless rival. Wheels weapon unlock and skills Location: Suppression of You Province (Chapter 2) - This is the first battle in Chapter 2. While we're unable to confirm with absolute certainty, we think that the weapon might drop from Zhang Ju or Qiliju.Notable skills: The Wheels weapon (i.e. Chakram) is viable for both short and medium-range engagements. Triple Tempest is a spinning attack that hits multiple enemies, while Claw of the Predator and Flying Spirit Wave let you toss the armament farther away. More notably, you can throw Wheels that stick to walls and surfaces, causing damage to a hostile that goes near. Podao weapon unlock and skills Location: Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits (Chapter 2) - This particular battle pits you against so many no-name officers that are clustered together, that we actually had a hard time tracking which one of them dropped the weapon itself.Notable skills: The Podao is a two-handed blade weapon that's a bit cumbersome to use. However, one of the best abilities we've seen so far is Sea of Flames, a special art that launches flames that travel along the ground. Since it's a special art, it can also interrupt enemy casts, and its multiple hits whittle down defense/guard pips. Staff weapon unlock and skills Location: Assassination of Dong Zhuo (Chapter 2) - Similar to the Podao, the Staff drops from a specific officer in an area with a lot of enemies. In this particular case, it's the southwest chamber, where you'll find Li Su, Xu Rong, Hu Fen, and more. Oh, and make sure you eliminate your foes quickly because Lu Bu will also be chasing you throughout the level.Notable skills: What makes the Staff one of the coolest weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is that holding down the heavy attack button lets you perform longer combo chains as you stay mobile. These include hopping around while spinning your polearm and rushing through entire packs of hostiles. Twin Pikes weapon unlock and skills Location: Battle of Hulao Gate (Chapter 2) - A few minutes after the start of this level, Zhang Liao will charge allied lines. Defeat him to claim his iconic armament.Notable skills: The Twin Pikes are an absolutely awe-inspiring choice among equipment in the game. You can also unleash the power of the elements, such as Roaring Maelstrom's tornadoes that funnel in soldiers and Earth Blast's stalagmites that erupt from the ground. Lance weapon unlock and skillsLocation: Battle of Xu Province (Chapter 3) - This battle is a pivotal moment in Chapter 3, since you have to decide whether you'd join forces with Cao Cao or Liu Bei. In our playthrough, we joined Cao Cao and had to defeat numerous advancing generals. Curiously enough, this weapon dropped from Mi Zhu. In any case, you can learn more about this battle in our Chapter 3 decision guide (Cao Cao, Liu Bei, or Sun Jian).Notable skills: We weren't too keen on using the Lance, at least until we obtained the Tenacious Heart skill. We feel that it's one of the best defensive abilities in the game. Once activated, it makes you nearly invulnerable to all damage while also improving health regeneration. The effect lasts for roughly 10 seconds, making it invaluable for higher difficulties. Crescent Blade weapon unlock and skills Location: Rescue of Emperor Xian (Chapter 3) - Proceed further into the level until Jia Xu's squad arrives. Defeat him and pick up this weapon. Note that we obtained this after siding with Cao Cao and becoming enemies with Liu Bei in Chapter 3. As such, we're unable to confirm how/where this drops if you remained buddies with Lord Benevolence.Notable skills: The Crescent Blade is further empowered as you chain your hits against enemies. One notable ability, Star Sunder Slash, actually gains additional swipes at a higher "upgrade level" for your combos. Halberd weapon unlock and skillsLocation: Post-campaign acquisition - We never obtained the Halberd during our initial playthrough on Wayfarer difficulty. This was even though we had defeated Lu Bu in several battles. Instead, we noticed two methods to acquire this weapon type upon finishing the campaign and loading our clear save:Hulao Gate challenge reward: Defeat Lu Bu on Ultimate Warrior difficulty.Weapons shop purchase: You can purchase different ranks/kinds of Halberds from shops, but these are more expensive compared to other armament types.Notable skills: The Halberd might just be the best weapon in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. That's because of all the devastating skills that can be utilized to great effect. These include Menacing Tempest, where the Wanderer sprints forward while slashing and swiping everyone around him. There's also Valiant Steed Blitz, where you automatically jump on your mount to slam the ground, akin to Lu Bu on Red Hare. That does it for our guide on how to get all weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. We'll keep you posted in case we unlock more armaments. For now, you can also check our upgrades/reforging guide. From the mountainous regions of the north to the great rivers of the south, you're bound to face numerous foes as you travel across China in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
