(Photo by Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Huffington Post)Getty Images for Huffington PostIn the latest incredibly goofy turn of Elon Musk being accused of cheating at video games, hes now being defended by an unlikely source, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of some of his children, the musician Grimes.She caught wind of all this and came out to defend at least some of his gaming achievements, saying that he did them himself with her as a witness. Heres what she said:Just for my personal pride, I would like to state that the father of my children was the first american druid in diablo to clear abattoir of zir and ended that season as best in the USA. He was also ranking in Polytopia, and beat Felix himself at the game. I did observe these things with my own eyes. There are other witnesses who can verify this. That is all.Elon replied by saying thanks.At one point Elon Musk claimed he was one of the top 20 Diablo 4 players in the world with Pit 150 speedruns. But being the first American to beat one seasonal activity on one class would not exactly be the same level of achievement. Though I suppose the idea is that if he could do that, maybe he really did eventually grind Diablo that hard.However, Grimes cannot vouch for his recent Path of Exile 2 achievements, where he also purports to have a world ranked character with an extremely high level, fully geared-out monk he played on stream. There's no shame in that because its insanely hard and hes very busy, but he should be honest.I agree, she said.I have a theory about what may have happened here. Both things could be true. Elon may genuinely be a serious Diablo 4 grinder and maybe achieved those records on his own. But then he may have also turned to Path of Exile and got some boosting help from outsiders. The evidence that Elon was not as good as he claimed at Path of Exile 2, as pointed out by creators, was misunderstanding some basics of the game, or at least things that someone with what would have to be a few hundred hours into the game to be playing at this level would have to know.Path of Exile 2Grinding GearThe way his mistakes came across to me was that it felt like a Diablo player who was stepping into Path of Exile for the first time and being confused about some of the differences like endgame mapping, item filters and which currencies were important as they dropped. Because as a Diablo player stepping into Path of Exile for the first time, these are things I myself went through before I learned how to play. Though I figured all this out probably 150 hours ago now.Thats my theory. Maybe he did the Diablo stuff, but the evidence for Path of Exile 2 boosting is pretty clear.
