TL;DR: Well, that didn't take long. Less than a month after Asus teased the world's lightest Copilot+ laptop, Fujitsu has seemingly swooped in and captured the crown. The Japanese technology provider's new FMV Note U tips the scales at just 848 grams, or roughly 1.87 pounds. At CES 2025, Asus shared that its new Zenbook A14 with Ceraluminum chassis weighted under 980 grams (2.16 pounds). Ceraluminum is a combination of ceramic and aluminum, and is said to be both lightweight and durable.Fujitsu's FMV Note U features a 14.0-inch (1,920 x 1,200 resolution) non-glare LCD screen and comes equipped with an Intel Ultra 7 CPU (Core Ultra 7 256V or Core Ultra 7 258V) and up to 32GB of RAM. Intel Arc Graphics 140V come baked in, and the accompanying NPU is good for up to 47 TOPS of AI processing performance. Storage configurations range from a 256GB SSD up to a 2TB model, which comes pre-loaded with Windows 11 Home or Pro.Connectivity wise, you get Wi-Fi 7 as well as a host of physical connectors including two USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 4 compatible) ports, Ethernet, HDMI out, and two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports. There's also a fingerprint reader that works with Windows Hello for added device security.Battery life is said to be rated at 36 hours when idle, or approximately 15.5 hours when playing video. A one hour charge can replenish up to 80 percent battery life, Fujitsu claims. You can even recharge the laptop from your mobile device in the event you aren't near a traditional power source.Fujitsu said its new laptop also passed MIL-STD-810H standard testing for durability. // Related StoriesThe Fujitsu FMV Note U (model WU1-K1) is available in Japan starting at 214,000 Yen (around $1,366) and is offered in a single color: black. The laptop comes backed by a three year warranty and includes a standard AC adapter. No word yet on whether or not Fujitsu plans to bring the lightweight laptop to other regions in the coming months.
