MLB The Show 25Credit: Sony San DiegoThe first visual piece of pre-hype content for MLB The Show 25 released on Monday, February 3. It was a small reveal in that it was just six screenshots, but for fans hungry for the upcoming release, it serves to whet the appetite for the new game. The first of the six images is above, and it features Houston Astros star Yordan Alvarez. As youll notice from most of the screenshots, the renders look very similar to previous versions. However, the lighting and shaders have seemingly received some love. Some fans have complained about the games seemingly stagnant visuals, but I dont share that opinion. MLB The Show already looks stellar, and changing player models is a bigger deal than most realize. It can affect other aspects of the gameespecially for a title on an annual cycle. If The Shows models woefully lagged behind industry standards, it would be one thing. However, thats not the case.Incremental improvements in the area of visuals are a small thing if the game progresses in other areas. With that said, here is a look at the other five screenshots.Ketel MarteCredit: Sony San DiegoMORE FOR YOUAlec BohmCredit: Sony San DiegoElly De La CruzCredit: Sony San DiegoGunnar HendersonCredit: Sony San DiegoPaul SkenesCredit: Sony San DiegoMLB The Show 25 Release Date and Gameplay Trailer InfoThe new game will release on March 18, with users who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition gaining early access on March 14. We havent learned who will be on the cover of the Digital Deluxe Edition. However, that could be unveiled on Tuesday, February 4, when the first gameplay trailer is expected. A legend is expected to be on the cover, but thats not always how it works with the series. The last time The Show had a legend on the cover of the Digital Deluxe Edition was in 2023 when Derek Jeter returned to the series and got his own Moments feature.MLB The Show 25 Feature UpdatesThe Road to the Show feature has received some noteworthy attention, and fans should also expect to see some under-the-hood updates for Franchise mode. However, major changes with the mode arent expected.Im particularly excited about the new content and approach with Diamond Dynasty. There will be a new approach to the content rollout, how collections are handled, and Im expecting to see new series and card types. We should know more on Tuesday when we might also see a roadmap for the feature reveal ahead of release.Other Upcoming Video Game Releases - First Quarter 2025Heres a look at the other highly anticipated video game releases for Q1 2025:January 30 - Sniper Elite: Resistance - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/SFebruary 4 - Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PCFebruary 11 - Sid Meier's Civilization VII - PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PCFebruary 14 - Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER - PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo SwitchFebruary 14 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II - Deluxe Edition - Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PCFebruary 21 - WitchSpring R Collector's Edition - PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox OneFebruary 21 - Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Standard Edition - PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/SFebruary 28 - Monster Hunter Wilds Standard Edition - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/SFebruary 28 - PGA Tour 2K25 - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PCMarch 14 - WWE 2K25 - PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PCMarch 20 - Assassin's Creed Shadows - PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PCMarch 21 - Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land - PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One
