Yea or Nay? Moving the Spikes from Your Bike Pedal to Your Shoe Soles

Have we got the design of bike pedals figured out, or not?Years ago we spotted these Grippine Cases by Sovrappensiero Design Studio. The idea was to add better grip to slippery pedals. The typical way to add grip is to texture the pedal. But inventor Bill Lee, a 30-year bike commuter, got tired of that texture slamming into his shins. He subsequently invented Bumper Pedals, made of shin-friendly foam. Grip tape provides the traction. Serious mountain bikers use spiked pedals. Needless to say, these are incredibly painful if they slam into your shin. Canadian manufacturer 9point8 had a novel idea: What if we pulled the spikes off of the pedals and stuck them to your shoes? Their Inverted Flat Pedal System is designed to do just that. The pedals are sheathed in a proprietary compound rubber surface. The pedals come with little metal studs that you're meant to embed in the sole of your boot: The studs come with a driver bit. You basically screw them into the sole of your boot.Alternatively, if you have SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) shoes, which are designed to work with clipless pedal systems, you can attach 9point8's SPD Studded Cleat: Here's the pitch. As he mentions, you definitely don't want to walk across your hardwood floors with these on.What say you, yea or nay? I think this might be more of a Canadian market thing; the company points out that these work great in the snow.
