Metal Gear Solid Delta trailer leak confirms PS5 State of Play is soon

Fans of the original game are going bananas (Konami)Sony has accidentally shared new details for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake early, confirming a release date and the inclusion of a fan favourite mini-game.With Microsoft having held its first Xbox showcase of 2025 last month, its looking increasingly likely Sony will soon follow suit with one of its own State of Play presentations.Aside from the fact that Sony typically has one within the first few months of the year, one reliable insider has already claimed it will be taking place as early as next week possibly on Valentines Day (aka Friday).Earlier today though, Sony accidentally shared a new trailer for Konamis Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which not only confirmed a couple of key details but was clearly being saved for a bigger showcase.Said trailer was uploaded to the games PlayStation Store page alongside an updated description, revealing an exact release date for the long-awaited remake: August 25.The trailer has since been removed and the page now only lists a vague 2025 release window, but you should be able to easily find a re-upload if you know where to look.In addition, Sonys leak gave away that the remake will retain the original Snake Eaters Snake vs. Monkey mode, which served as a crossover with Sonys Ape Escape series where Snake has to hunt down and capture the titular apes. Relax, its not a real gun (Konami)While a welcome surprise for fans of both series, we expect this mode to be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version of Metal Gear Solid Delta. After all, Ape Escape is a PlayStation franchise and when the original game was ported to Xbox 360 the Snake vs. Monkey mode was removed.More TrendingThe Snake vs. Monkey mode was also omitted from the Nintendo 3DS remake and subsequent multiplatform re-releases of Metal Gear Solid 3. No doubt because Sony didnt want its Ape Escape characters featured on rival platforms.Between the trailers removal, and that it was specifically tied to the PlayStation platform, this certainly suggests that it was intended to debut at an upcoming State of Play. Its not the only bit of recent evidence either. Earlier today, people spotted a new listing for PlayStation 5 exclusive Death Stranding 2 on the South Korean age ratings board, which should mean developer Kojima Productions is gearing up for a release. On top of that, Hideo Kojima himself took to his X account yesterday to tease he was putting together a new trailer for something. While it could very well be for one of his other projects, like Xbox title OD, Death Stranding 2 is the most likely candidate, since its meant to be coming out this year. With Metal Gear locked in, what else has Sony planned for its next State of Play?
