Gurman: iPhone SE 4 with Apple modem, Face ID, and USB-C may launch next week

After years of rumors, Apple appears to finally be preparing to release the redesigned iPhone SE 4. Mark Gurman reports for Bloomberg that the new entry level iPhone could be announced as early as next week:The company expects to announce the device as early as next week, ahead of it going on sale later in the month, according to people with knowledge of the matter.Gurman adds that he does not expect Apple to hold an event for the iPhone SE 4 launch.This suggests that the overhauled iPhone SE is likely the only new product coming next week. Apple is expected to switch the iPhone SE to a new form factor, dropping the Home button in favor of a full screen design with Face ID and USB-C replacing Lightning charging. The new iPhone SE should feature the A18 chip and resemble the iPhone 14 design.Apples current iPhone SE (third-gen) is based on the iPhone 8 design from 2017. Apple is also expected support Apple Intelligence on the new iPhone SE, joining iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and the full iPhone 16 line.Perhaps the biggest change will be internally. Apple is expected to switch from Qualcomm modems to its own in-house chip for cellular connectivity. This will be a first for any Apple product.iPhone SE 4 launching as soon as next week comes as a slight surprise with expectations geared more into March.
