Genslers latest project in the Chicago market might surprise some as a shelter for formerly homeless men located in the Rogers Park neighborhood and constructed from the shell of a formerly abandoned building.Designed and built for the nonprofit North Side Housing and Supportive Services (NSHSS), the shelter offers 70 beds in a non-congregate approach to housing that evinces a psychological sense of safety, community, and the notion of common humanity while importantly being devoid ofsensory stressors.
