Mithun has completed work on one of the largest passive house-certified student dormitory designs in the U.S. for Princeton University. The almost 330,000-square-foot Meadows Apartments are reserved for Graduate students on campus and provide 604 total beds at a cost 35% lower than a typical student housing design, leveraging a prefabricated wood frame and other locally sourced materials to maximize its credentials for sustainability.Photo: Chris Cooper/ArchExplorerMassings are laid out in the image of a tigers paw, evoking the university mascot. Thereafter four interconnected courtyards form around the development defined by their own purpose and identity. The program includes a community center with a mass timber roof. Mithun is currently under contract with SOM to deliver the replacement design for Munger Hall at UCSB after winning the AIA Architecture Firm Award in 2023.Photo: Chris Cooper/ArchExplorerPhoto: Chris Cooper/ArchExplorerPhoto: Chris Cooper/ArchExplorerP...
