Meta has been exploring a new feature in WhatsApp that will soon let users link their social media accounts to their profile in the messaging app. While a similar feature is already available for business accounts, this option under development is aimed at regular accounts. The feature was found by WABetaInfo in a beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone. Although its not yet enabled for users, the report shows a screenshot of how the new option will work. Essentially, WhatsApp users will be able to add links to their profiles on other social media, so that people can access these profiles with just a tap.It seems that WhatsApp is committed to allowing users to further personalize their profile page, with the focus of enhancing user engagement and making profiles even more dynamic and informative. [] A new section will be available directly in the profile settings in the future, where users can choose whether to add links to their social media profiles, the report says.Internally, Instagram is the only option available to be shown on a WhatsApp profile. However, its likely that more options will be added before the feature is made available to the public (at least to link to other Meta platforms such as Threads and Facebook). While adding an Instagram profile to a WhatsApp business account requires signing in for verification, the new beta feature doesnt require any verification. Of course, Meta may implement a similar verification process before the official launch to prevent misuse, such as impersonation. The report also notes that the feature is completely optional and users can choose not to share their social media profiles with their contacts.WhatsApp is available for free on the App Store. However, the beta version is only available to selected users on TestFlight.Add 9to5Mac to your Google News feed. FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.
