    After a tease in Netflix’s One Piece season 2 announcement way back in September 2023, Tony Tony Chopper, the Straw Hats’ resident reindeer-doctor, has officially boarded the pirate ship. Netflix revealed the beloved sidekick’s “live-action” look during its 2025 Tudum stream. Netflix also announced that actor Mikaela Hooverprovided Chopper’s voice and motion-capture.

    One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, who has previously gushed over his experience working on the Netflix show, calling it his “last chance” to bring the manga to the masses, previously announced Chopper’s inclusion in the season 2 cast. And what would One Piece be without the wily doc? Not only has Chopper been around for most of Monkey D. Luffy’s quest to be the greatest pirate on the high seas, but his transformations over the years have served as a foundation for Oda’s evolving vision for the long-running series.

    His look in the live-action series was a big question, answered with respectable levels of CG. In season 2, Hoover joins the original Straw Hats cast of Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz Skyla.

    Season 2 will also see a slew of new actors and characters, many of whom will attempt to kill Luffy. Look at this list:

    MCM Comic Con is still worth it for gamers even without EGX – Reader’s Feature

    There’s never a dull moment at Comic ConA reader reports back from his time at MCM Comic Con in London and gets to play a lot of video and tabletop games, despite a lack of big name attendees.
    Last week I attended yet another MCM Comic Con at the ExCeL Centre in London, along with my son, who this year decided to dress up as Super Mario. As you all know by now, MCM Comic Con is a three-day celebration of all things popular culture. However, this year’s show was not linked with EGX, as was the case at last October’s exhibition, so there was less emphasis on video games – but there was still a lot on offer.
    Our first stop was the Mattel stand, where they were promoting Barbie, Masters of the Universe, and Hot Wheels. There was a sit-down setup of Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged on the PlayStation 5. This was one of the highlights of the day, as we ended up returning a few times in an attempt to win the race. I’ll probably pick it up this up, as we enjoyed it so much.
    Up next was the chance to play Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy. This was one of the first opportunities to play the game before its release on 13th June. While I’d never properly played Magic before, I had dabbled in Final Fantasy’s own trading card game but stopped some time ago. We played using the starter deck kits featuring Cloud and Sephiroth and battled it out, with me emerging victorious. The cards looked amazing and feature characters, weapons, spells, and locations from all 16 mainline Final Fantasy titles. The only downer was that there were no promo cards being handed out.
    The next port of call was Artist Alley, where hundreds of independent artists showcased their wares. I was after one in particular: Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau. I first came across his work while playing Marvel Snap. I had a quick chat with him and got him to sign some artwork prints of Tifa and Rogue.
    Sticking with Final Fantasy, I noticed actor Ben Starr on the show floor – the voice of Clive Rosfield, the protagonist of Final Fantasy 16. I didn’t get a chance to speak with him, as he looked in a rush, probably due to the fact that he was part of the show with his Natural Six Dungeons & Dragons Actual Play panel.

    Final Fantasy is always at every Comic Con in some wayAfter lunch, we headed off to the Family Gaming Zone, where around 20 consoles were set up with a variety of family-friendly titles. Games that we sampled included Conduct TOGETHER! on the Nintendo Switch, a puzzle-type game where you manoeuvre trains and switch tracks to avoid collisions. Then, on to JellyCar Worlds, a driving and platforming game where you hav to work your way through various obstacles. It reminded me of both the Trials series and World Of Goo, with its physics-based gameplay.
    We proceeded to play Tower Of Babel – No Mercy, which was a shape-dropping game where the aim is to stack as high as possible. We played the co-op mode, where we each took turns placing rectangular-shaped blocks. On paper, that doesn’t sound like the greatest game, but the dormant competitive side of me came out and I was desperate to beat a nine-year-old child.
    The last game of the day was Astro Duel 2. The two of us joined four other convention players in a mix of retro pixel platforming and spaceship battles. It’s a combination of Smash Bros. and Asteroids, with players fighting fast on the ground or in the sky. Very hectic but a lot of fun – and great to play a six-person game with all players sitting alongside each other.
    Last call before heading home was the Bandai Namco zone. They had a strong showing, with multiple games available to try. It was great to see a major game publisher represented at the event. They were showcasing several Dragon Ball Z titles and Shadow Labyrinth, while Elden Ring: Nightreign was also on display – though sadly, not in a playable format. Finally, a quick spin on their gacha machines rounded off a wonderful day.

    Overall, another successful show and the next show’s dates have already been released. MCM returns to ExCeL London this October, along with EGX, for another three-day celebration from 24–26 October.

    MCM Comic Con is still worth it for gamers even without EGX – Reader’s Feature GameCentral Published May 31, 2025 9:00am There’s never a dull moment at Comic Con (Credits: Aidan Synnott – ASV Photogrpahy) A reader reports back from his time at MCM Comic Con in London and gets to play a lot of video and tabletop games, despite a lack of big name attendees. Last week I attended yet another MCM Comic Con at the ExCeL Centre in London, along with my son, who this year decided to dress up as Super Mario. As you all know by now, MCM Comic Con is a three-day celebration of all things popular culture. However, this year’s show was not linked with EGX, as was the case at last October’s exhibition, so there was less emphasis on video games – but there was still a lot on offer. Our first stop was the Mattel stand, where they were promoting Barbie, Masters of the Universe, and Hot Wheels. There was a sit-down setup of Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged on the PlayStation 5. This was one of the highlights of the day, as we ended up returning a few times in an attempt to win the race. I’ll probably pick it up this up, as we enjoyed it so much. Up next was the chance to play Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy. This was one of the first opportunities to play the game before its release on 13th June. While I’d never properly played Magic before, I had dabbled in Final Fantasy’s own trading card game but stopped some time ago. We played using the starter deck kits featuring Cloud and Sephiroth and battled it out, with me emerging victorious. The cards looked amazing and feature characters, weapons, spells, and locations from all 16 mainline Final Fantasy titles. The only downer was that there were no promo cards being handed out. The next port of call was Artist Alley, where hundreds of independent artists showcased their wares. I was after one in particular: Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau. I first came across his work while playing Marvel Snap. I had a quick chat with him and got him to sign some artwork prints of Tifa and Rogue. Sticking with Final Fantasy, I noticed actor Ben Starr on the show floor – the voice of Clive Rosfield, the protagonist of Final Fantasy 16. I didn’t get a chance to speak with him, as he looked in a rush, probably due to the fact that he was part of the show with his Natural Six Dungeons & Dragons Actual Play panel. Final Fantasy is always at every Comic Con in some way (Tom Pozzetti) After lunch, we headed off to the Family Gaming Zone, where around 20 consoles were set up with a variety of family-friendly titles. Games that we sampled included Conduct TOGETHER! on the Nintendo Switch, a puzzle-type game where you manoeuvre trains and switch tracks to avoid collisions. Then, on to JellyCar Worlds, a driving and platforming game where you hav to work your way through various obstacles. It reminded me of both the Trials series and World Of Goo, with its physics-based gameplay. We proceeded to play Tower Of Babel – No Mercy, which was a shape-dropping game where the aim is to stack as high as possible. We played the co-op mode, where we each took turns placing rectangular-shaped blocks. On paper, that doesn’t sound like the greatest game, but the dormant competitive side of me came out and I was desperate to beat a nine-year-old child. The last game of the day was Astro Duel 2. The two of us joined four other convention players in a mix of retro pixel platforming and spaceship battles. It’s a combination of Smash Bros. and Asteroids, with players fighting fast on the ground or in the sky. Very hectic but a lot of fun – and great to play a six-person game with all players sitting alongside each other (although one kid did rage quit a few times!). Last call before heading home was the Bandai Namco zone. They had a strong showing, with multiple games available to try. It was great to see a major game publisher represented at the event. They were showcasing several Dragon Ball Z titles and Shadow Labyrinth, while Elden Ring: Nightreign was also on display – though sadly, not in a playable format. Finally, a quick spin on their gacha machines rounded off a wonderful day. More Trending Overall, another successful show and the next show’s dates have already been released. MCM returns to ExCeL London this October, along with EGX, for another three-day celebration from 24–26 October.     I've noticed many streams where all the lumina and overall builds went towards three members, or even just one and the rest were support.

    I've personally kept everything at the same lvl at all times, same lumina distribuition, same effort on builds. When one or two characters got underleveled they were brought to the main team until they catched up.

    Tried to balance them as much as I could for the majority of the game. But in the end Maelle got most of the stuff since she is pretty OP.

    I think Verso got the least amount of stuff in the end tho. Just didn't really use them that much.

    Currently in act 3 and pausing the main story to go around the map and side-quest as much as possible since for once in a game side questing does not feel like a chore.

    I have three members that are my main lineup but I keep everyone as balanced as possible, many times I won battles thanks to my reserve duo

    I'm currently still playing and my distribution is the same to yours. I've started to look at builds for beating some of the overpowered enemies in the game. My starting three is Verso, Sciel and Lune. Monoco and Maelle if they die. I have Maelle on the second team, even though she's currently the second strongest person I have, for balance.

    Leveling was an even split between Agility and Vitality until both got to 99. At that point, Recoat then dump into the stats for everyone's best weapons.

    Lumina points were distributed evenly among each character. It was super useful having everyone set up to fight because some characters work better for certain situations.

    Voted and finished the game equally balanced over all characters. But now I'm doing endgame things after seeing credits and I've successfully done a Lune killing machine build with over 400 lumina points that destroyed all endless tower almost by herself. Also the Flying Manor end boss was finally managed by her solo.

    Now I'm going for the Maelle build just for the well known "hardest boss" but honestly if it takes too much work I may just watch the remaining journal in youtube and call it a day. Lune was entirely my build and while the things I'm seeing for Maelle are similar, it's not the same and not mine, so it's ok to just quit here, especially as there's not much more game for me. I was just doing this while postponing starting a new game but that time has come now.

    This is pretty much me as well.

    Lune and Sciel are my fallback party who can pretty much sustain themselves with healing and damage output.

    I was ready to not engage with her because it felt too annoying, but that one weapon she gets that sets her up with 10 foretell on any sun-based move made me see the vision lol

    Agility is one thing, but I love how this is an RPG where everyone is a crit warrior and you're just better off tailoring towards that lol

    Maelle, Verso, Lune only. I gave nothing to Sciel and Monoco lol.

    Distributed all Lumina points equally among the 3 mains.
    I basically had my end-game weapons about 10 hours in and would max those out and build around them. I did replace one or two with post-game weapons.
    Stat distribution for every levelup was 2 Vitalitythen 1 in whatever the weapon stats were.

    Oh I got that weapon and absolutely used it a ton with her, she just fell out of conversation with the story turn. Maelle had to be in the party from then on lol

    I experimented with different teams but fell on Lune, Maelle and Monoco as my favorite team. Sometimes I swap Verso or Sciel with Lune.

    I was using her before said turn because she was the first to reach the Act 1 damage cap

    Only got a little into Act 2 though, so still plenty of story to go through

    Interesting because Gustave's overcharge is rather good at dps but he is a support character priming enemies for the rest of the team to shine. Maelle is ridiculously OP pretty early on, as long as you get good at counterattacking. Sciel is the best support from Act 2 onward.

    For most of the game I used Sciel, Lune, Verso then towards the end I went with a Break build using Sciel, Verso and Monoco.

    I never switched out characters so it took a sec to get Monoco up to Sciel and Vero's level lol.

    Balanced for most of the game, but my Primary party was Lune / Sciel / Monoco, with Lune being my "Main" and getting the lion's share of Lumina in the endgame.

    Went with a fun Heal-Buff / DOT Nuke Team by basically using Typhoon as an AP / Buff Battery for the Squad, then Stacking Storm Caller and Terraquake for Passive Damage, then Elemental Genesis and Hellfire for big Damage nukes. Was a lot of fun having access to so much damage per turn for big waves and required a bit of Stain management to keep me awake.

    no points in other stats. When I got into act 3 and I had good weapons I respect-ed basing stats on weapons' scalings

    I always try to level party members equally in RPGs

    I was mainly balanced, with the exception that I gave Maelle got 20/30 more Lumina points than the rest of the cast.

    My primary characters were Luna, Maelle, Monoco, with Verso and Sciel as my backup.

    My backup team were at a slightly lower level then my primary characters.

    For most of the game, I primarily levelled Vitality, Agility, and Luck, and ignored the other stats.

    I used all the characters and leveled them up equally. Stat distribution was based on weapon scaling. You get plenty of re-spec items so changing weapons and stats was never an issue.

    By the end I had Maelle and Lune 500+ lumina. Monoco was around 280. Really sorry Sciel and GustaveVerso, they only had 120ish.

I've personally kept everything at the same lvl at all times, same lumina distribuition, same effort on builds (except for the last super boss that I "cheesed" with Maelle). When one or two characters got underleveled they were brought to the main team until they catched up. Also the Flying Manor end boss was finally managed by her solo (with Roulette lol). Now I'm going for the Maelle build just for the well known "hardest boss" but honestly if it takes too much work I may just watch the remaining journal in youtube and call it a day. Lune was entirely my build and while the things I'm seeing for Maelle are similar, it's not the same and not mine, so it's ok to just quit here, especially as there's not much more game for me.     I'm tempted, I suppose, to think of any others. I'd say either the Uncharted theme or Far Horizons from Skyrim do, for me, just live on so strongly and vividly.

    But, really, I think you've got it in one with Ezio's Family because it feels like the defining track of a franchise that is still going very, very strongly and in almost every game, sometimes arranged a bit differently or interpreted differently but it feels like its become the theme song of the series, really. Its also just an incredible piece of music.

    Everybody with a Wii was forced through the Mii create flow, so I guess the Mii theme. Which, although not going as hard as the Shop channel theme, is great.

But, really, I think you've got it in one with Ezio's Family because it feels like the defining track of a franchise that is still going very, very strongly and in almost every game, sometimes arranged a bit differently or interpreted differently but it feels like its become the theme song of the series, really.     On November 1, more than 19,000 members of the Unity community joined us from around the world, both virtually and in-person, for a full day of gamedev inspiration, education, and connection. Following the keynote, attendees were able to experience fellow creators’ projects, participate in expert-led sessions, network with peers, and even attend a first-of-its-kind, multiplatform virtual concert.With over 20 streamed sessions throughout the day and five unique local experiences, here is a roundup of notable highlights from Unite 2022.Senior Machine Learning Developer Florent Bocquelet expanded on a tool and Real-Time Live! Audience Choice Award-winning project that first debuted this summer at SIGGRAPH 2022. Big Daddy Gollum’s still wreaking havoc on your damn team, and the role of Gustave will now be played by Clive Rosfiel—er, Verso. Despite trading the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen for Final Fantasy VIII’s number one simp, it’s a relatively easy transition, but not one without its quirks—and a whole new gimmick to learn. Once you learn that gimmick, and get into some of the deep skills in his tree, though, Verso can become the linchpin of your team. We’ll show you how. Screenshot: Sandfall Interactive / Justin Clark / KotakuSo, one of the things right upfront that eases the Gustave-to-Verso transition is the fact that he immediately inherits all of the weapons you collected as Gustave. Remember back in the day when a party member left, and they’d take all the good armor and weapons with them? God, we lived as savages in the 90s. Anyway, that means you’ve got a nice deep armory of sword options to start with. That said, sticking with Verso’s basic loadout for a bit is the best way to go, given that he’s the only character who can wield Light magic right out of the gate without having to prime the skill. This is handy as all the enemies in the first major area you get to after Verso joins up are weak to Light. You’ll get plenty of practice if you just stay the course of the main story. In addition, it’s not quite his default loadout per se, but the Dualliste boss at the end of that area drops the Dualliso sword. This allows Verso a second turn after a basic attack To get such a weapon so early after obtaining him makes it worth mentioning as a crucial part of his kit, especially because of his... Very simply, you start at grade D, and landing attacks, dodging, and parrying all add a certain amount of Perfection Points that raise the grade from D, C, B, A, all the way up to S, with points taken away if you take a hit. If you’re willing to take a risk, you can build Verso into a devastating glass cannon. The twist, however, is that while all of Verso’s skills get a damage boost depending on his rank, many of them also have a specific rank where they are enhanced even further. Using an ability tied to a specific letter rank that Verso has achieved enables a secondary effect. This can be anything from earning more Perfection if the attack hits, to dealing more damage, or it can even make expensive skills cheaper. An excellent example here is Verso’s Perfect Break Skill. By itself, it’s a pretty powerful Light attack. However, if you hit it while you’re exactly at Rank B, it only costs five AP to cast. So, while getting to rank S does have its benefits, building your offense around specific ranks—especially in the early goings of Act II—is where the real fun lies. That’s the fact that there are quite a few skills predicated on sacrificing either health, status, or rank to either benefit the party, or dealing absurd amounts of damage. That’s actually a really well-implemented way to tie combat in with his place in the narrative, but it also means that on top of being able to build a character based around skills hovering around a certain rank, if you’re willing to take a risk, you can build Verso into a devastating glass cannon.Even if you don’t go fully down that road, Berserk Slash should be a permanent skill for any Verso player. It allows him to deal more damage the less health he has left. If you feel like getting extra nuts, pair that up with Overload, and watch Berserk Slash send your enemies screaming into the goddamn Shadow Realm. This is a safer strategy once you get ahold of the Cheater Picto from beating Sprong—and it’s one of those combos that can utterly break the game once you get the Painted Power Picto that removes the 9,999 damage cap. There’s glory waiting for those who can walk the edge of life and death with Verso. But hey, if you’d like to keep your boy safe and still do a number on enemies, there’s plenty of options for that too. As mentioned, the Dualliso blade you get from the Dualliste grants a second turn after a basic attack, Pair that up with Energizing Shotsand Blitz, and you can absolutely monopolize an enemy if you get lucky enough. Pair Strike Storm up with any Pictos that enhance critical hits, and you’re almost always guaranteed to hit Rank S in no time. Once you get into the latter portions of Act II, you can basically just spam that and Perfect Stars—his most powerful Light attack—and you’ll put a whole lotta Nevros in the dirt. In the early going, though, your options will be a bit more limited. Depending how not-adept you are at dodges and parries, it’s perfectly viable to build Verso’s whole loadout around staying at C rank. Berserk Slash and Strike Storm both benefit at that rank, which helps the case, but you can also build Verso as a support character using Leadership and Paradigm Shift. In which case, you’ll want to pick up the Lanceram sword at some point in your journey, since it guarantees you’ll never drop lower than C. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs.

The plot thickens. Big Daddy Gollum’s still wreaking havoc on your damn team, and the role of Gustave will now be played by Clive Rosfiel—er, Verso. Despite trading the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen for Final Fantasy VIII’s number one simp, it’s a relatively easy transition, but not one without its quirks—and a whole new gimmick to learn. Once you learn that gimmick, and get into some of the deep skills in his tree, though, Verso can become the linchpin of your team. We’ll show you how. Screenshot: Sandfall Interactive / Justin Clark / KotakuSo, one of the things right upfront that eases the Gustave-to-Verso transition is the fact that he immediately inherits all of the weapons you collected as Gustave. Remember back in the day when a party member left, and they’d take all the good armor and weapons with them? God, we lived as savages in the 90s. Anyway, that means you’ve got a nice deep armory of sword options to start with. That said, sticking with Verso’s basic loadout for a bit is the best way to go, given that he’s the only character who can wield Light magic right out of the gate without having to prime the skill (i.e. Lune’s Mayhem). This is handy as all the enemies in the first major area you get to after Verso joins up are weak to Light. You’ll get plenty of practice if you just stay the course of the main story. In addition, it’s not quite his default loadout per se, but the Dualliste boss at the end of that area drops the Dualliso sword. Screenshot: Sandfall Interactive / Justin Clark / KotakuDevil May Cry fans will be right at home with this mechanic. Verso basically just has that game’s ranking system as a gimmick. Very simply, you start at grade D, and landing attacks, dodging, and parrying all add a certain amount of Perfection Points that raise the grade from D, C, B, A, all the way up to S, with points taken away if you take a hit. If you’re willing to take a risk, you can build Verso into a devastating glass cannon. The twist, however, is that while all of Verso’s skills get a damage boost depending on his rank, many of them also have a specific rank where they are enhanced even further. Using an ability tied to a specific letter rank that Verso has achieved enables a secondary effect. This can be anything from earning more Perfection if the attack hits, to dealing more damage, or it can even make expensive skills cheaper. An excellent example here is Verso’s Perfect Break Skill. By itself, it’s a pretty powerful Light attack. However, if you hit it while you’re exactly at Rank B, it only costs five AP to cast (down from seven). So, while getting to rank S does have its benefits, building your offense around specific ranks—especially in the early goings of Act II—is where the real fun lies. It’s not always about racing to get an S lined up for him.Screenshot: Sandfall Interactive / Justin Clark / KotakuThere’s another running aspect of Verso’s skill tree that, while not necessarily a core gimmick, does deserve shouting out. That’s the fact that there are quite a few skills predicated on sacrificing either health, status, or rank to either benefit the party, or dealing absurd amounts of damage. That’s actually a really well-implemented way to tie combat in with his place in the narrative, but it also means that on top of being able to build a character based around skills hovering around a certain rank, if you’re willing to take a risk, you can build Verso into a devastating glass cannon.Even if you don’t go fully down that road, Berserk Slash should be a permanent skill for any Verso player. It allows him to deal more damage the less health he has left. If you feel like getting extra nuts, pair that up with Overload (gives nine AP, immediately jumps Verso to Rank S, but drops his health to one point), and watch Berserk Slash send your enemies screaming into the goddamn Shadow Realm. This is a safer strategy once you get ahold of the Cheater Picto from beating Sprong (the massive Nevron hanging out in the ocean)—and it’s one of those combos that can utterly break the game once you get the Painted Power Picto that removes the 9,999 damage cap. There’s glory waiting for those who can walk the edge of life and death with Verso. But hey, if you’d like to keep your boy safe and still do a number on enemies, there’s plenty of options for that too. As mentioned, the Dualliso blade you get from the Dualliste grants a second turn after a basic attack, Pair that up with Energizing Shots (20-percent of Free Aim shots go back to you in AP) and Blitz (grants another turn), and you can absolutely monopolize an enemy if you get lucky enough. Pair Strike Storm up with any Pictos that enhance critical hits, and you’re almost always guaranteed to hit Rank S in no time. Once you get into the latter portions of Act II, you can basically just spam that and Perfect Stars—his most powerful Light attack—and you’ll put a whole lotta Nevros in the dirt. In the early going, though, your options will be a bit more limited. Depending how not-adept you are at dodges and parries, it’s perfectly viable to build Verso’s whole loadout around staying at C rank. Berserk Slash and Strike Storm both benefit at that rank, which helps the case, but you can also build Verso as a support character using Leadership and Paradigm Shift (both granting AP to the rest of the team). In which case, you’ll want to pick up the Lanceram sword at some point in your journey, since it guarantees you’ll never drop lower than C.
