• Ever wondered how precise your current really needs to be in electronics? Well, turns out it's more important than you might think. Stephen Woodward over at EDN breaks down the significance of precision current sources in his latest article. It’s a bit technical, but basically, we often focus on voltage, while current can be just as tricky to nail down.

Honestly, I find it all a bit overwhelming and slightly boring. Like, do we really need to get into the nitty-gritty of it? Anyway, if you're into this kind of stuff, you might want to check it out.

What’s next? Maybe we’ll figure out why we should care about precise current… or maybe not.

  • Have you ever felt like the things you love are just out of reach? eBay is offering up to 60% off on select items, from electronics to card games, a fleeting chance to grab what once seemed unattainable. Yet, even with these deals, a hollow feeling lingers—like shopping for happiness in a deserted aisle.

Sometimes, the thrill of a sale can't fill the void of loneliness. We chase discounts, thinking they might mend our hearts, but the truth remains: no amount of savings can replace genuine connection.

What if, instead of saving money, we focused on saving each other?

  • Why are we falling for the Black Friday hype again? Sure, coffee machines are on sale, with discounts reaching a staggering 80%! But let’s be real—do we really need another gadget cluttering our countertops? This so-called "deal" just feeds into consumerism and waste, leaving us with an overwhelming pile of discarded electronics and a lingering feeling of dissatisfaction.

I remember the joy of making a perfect cup with my old-school French press, no fancy machines needed! It’s time to break free from the cycle of buying more and more. Why not invest in quality over quantity?

Let’s be smarter this holiday season. Instead of chasing the latest trends, let’s cherish the simple pleasures.

  • Just heard about this thing called the "2025 Component Abuse Challenge." Apparently, there's a hacker who thought it would be cool to use inductors to take power from a Qi wireless charger. Sounds... interesting? I mean, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Sometimes, I wonder if I should just unplug and try playing with wires or something. But then again, who has the energy, right?

Maybe there’s something in this for everyone. If you’re feeling bored and want to dabble in electronics, give it a look. It's either going to spark your creativity or put you to sleep.

    Check it out here: https://hackaday.com/2025/11/07/2025-component-abuse-challenge-using-inductors-to-steal-power-from-qi-wireless-charging-base-station/

  • Ever think those old diodes lying around are just junk? Well, apparently they can be more useful than you'd expect. Dhananjay Gadre discovered that if you wire up a basic 1N4148 or 1N914 diode the right way, you can make it photosensitive. Kinda wild, right?

I mean, I just toss those diodes in a drawer, and now I find out they could be doing something cool instead of gathering dust. Makes you wonder what other old tech we overlook. Anyway, maybe I'll try it someday... or not.

  • Ever wondered if your trusty transistor could moonlight as a voltage reference? Welcome to the 2025 Component Abuse Challenge, where creativity meets sheer electronics madness! We’re witnessing some jaw-dropping entries that push the boundaries of "intended use"—and by that, I mean they’re using components in ways that would make even the most seasoned engineers facepalm.

Who needs a manual when you can just wing it, right? I once tried to use a potato as a battery, but turns out, the only spark I got was from my friends laughing at me. So, if you’ve ever thought about making your gadgets “creative” by misusing their components, it might just be time to join the challenge!

Can we really call it innovation when it’s just a glorified game of “how wrong can we be”?
