• The "Super Pocket Neo Geo Edition" is nothing but a disappointing joke wrapped in a nostalgic cover! Sure, it claims to offer "portable retro greatness," but let's be real: the compromises it makes are absolutely infuriating! The screen quality is subpar, controls feel clunky, and the battery life? Don't even get me started! What’s the point of a pocketable device if it can’t deliver the gaming experience we deserve? This is not just retro fun; it’s a blatant cash grab exploiting our nostalgia. If you’re looking for quality, steer clear of this abomination. We deserve better than just "great compromises"!

  • Nintendo Has a List of Switch 1 Games That Will Be Ready for Switch 2

    The Switch 2 is nearly here. On June 5, those of us who were lucky enough to snag preorders will start receiving their consoles, and will be able to play new games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.Of course, Nintendo's new console isn't only compatible with Switch 2 games. It will play your original Switch games too. The thing is, it isn't as simple as with other backwards compatible consoles: The Switch 2 uses emulation to run original Switch titles, so it isn't playing those games natively. That works for the most part—Nintendo says virtually all first-party Switch games can run on Switch 2 without issue, and the same is true for most "partner" games. However, some games run into problems with the emulation on Switch 2. Certain titles have issues when starting up, while others are "playable," but suffer in-game compatibility issues. Nintendo is investigating the issue for these titles, so hopefully they'll all eventually be able to run on Switch 2 as well as they do on the original Switch. These Switch games are getting updates for Switch 2 In fact, there's already a list of titles with fixes on the way. Nintendo says 49 games with current problems running on Switch 2 will receive updates by system launch or shortly after to fix those issues.You can see the full list of games to be updated for Switch 2 below: 112 OperatorACA NEOGEO ART OF FIGHTING 2ACA NEOGEO SAMURAI SHODOWN IIACA NEOGEO THE KING OF FIGHTERS '95ACA NEOGEO THE KING OF FIGHTERS '96ACTIVE LIFE Outdoor ChallengeAirheadAlchemy GardenBaron: Fur Is Gonna FlyBatman: The Enemy Within Beyond the Ice Palace 2Boot Hill BountiesBus Simulator 2023: City DriverDeath ComingDOOM EternalEggy Party ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the MistEverspace - Stellar EditionFables Mosaic: Snow White and the Seven DwarfsFitness BoxingFloor KidsFortniteFRAMED CollectionGal Guardians: Demon PurgeGas Guzzlers ExtremeGuns, Gore and CannoliIsland Flight SimulatorKorean Drone Flying Tour Jeju Island-1Mexican Train Dominoes GoldMonster Energy Supercross - The Official VideogameMUSYNXNBA 2K25Nova-111OMG Police - Car Chase TV SimulatorParents Vs KidsPerseverance: Complete EditionPizza TowerProcess of EliminationSlayin 2STAR WARS: Dark Forces RemasterSuper Mega Baseball 3The Jackbox Party PackThe Jackbox Party Pack 2Travis Strikes Again: No More HeroesVictor Vran Overkill EditionWho Wants to Be a Millionaire?WolfFang 空牙2001 SkullFang 空牙外伝 Saturn Tribute BoostedWorld of Tanks BlitzXtreme SportsUnfortunately, there's no true timeline for when these games will receive their updates. Nintendo's "by launch or shortly after" pledge is quite vague: Will some games be patched? Will most? Which ones? How long after launch is "shortly after?" The silver lining is that the fixes are on their way. If you have any of these Switch games, or you happen to buy them with your Switch 2, keep an eye out for these updates.

  • Goodbye Productivity, 'Cookie Clicker' Is Coming To Switch Next Week

    Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube812k
    Yes, you read that headline correctly. Cookie Clicker, the infamous idle game about clicking a cookie, is coming to Switch, fresh out of the oven, on 22nd May.
    We'd imagine that you will be familiar with Cookie Clicker already. This one was initially released by one-man dev Julien 'Orteil' Thiennot back in 2013 and quickly built up a huge following thanks to its addictively simple gameplay loop: click the cookie to get more cookies.
    If you've never sampled it before, then we'd wager that synopsis sounds a little dry. But trust us, it's the ultimate time sink. Each cookie you gain gives you the chance to get even more cookies, with unlockable auto-clickers and a whole host of other weird and wonderful ways to keep the baked goods rolling in.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube812kWatch on YouTube
    The Switch version was teased on Orteil's BlueSky account, and the corresponding eShop page revealed it would be arriving next week for just £4.29 / — a small price to pay to risk losing all your free time.
    Here's the official rundown of the game's features and a handful of eShop screenshots from publisher DashNet, so you can see what you're letting yourself in for:

    * Collect cookies and spend them to earn even more cookies

    * Over 600+ upgrades
    * Pet your dragon* Mini-games
    * Unlock heavenly perma-upgrades
    * Music by C418
    Images: DashNet
    Look, we can't imagine that this will be rocketing to the top of our Game of the Year lists come December, but it runs the risk of scoring highly in the 'Most Played' category if we're not careful.

    Just one more

  • Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Capcom Fighting Collection 2

    A Dreamcollection

    So what did other outlets have to say:

    Nintendo World Report - 8/10

    "Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is another mix of great hits, fun curiosities, and a few games that feel more like filling out a roster than anything. That said, Capcom vs. SNK and Power Stone are more than worth the price of entry alone, and fighting game fanatics will at least enjoy experiencing some oddities that they wouldn’t have otherwise."

    Gaming Bible - 9/10

    "Capcom Fighting Collection Vol. 2 boasts an impressive roster of games and pairs well with the first collection for a varied, comprehensive trip through Capcom’s fighting game history, and even then, it doesn’t feel like the journey through time is over yet."
    But Why Tho - 9/10

    "Overall, while not every game in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is equally balanced or polished, the variety and care taken in preservation make it a standout retro bundle that’s definitely worth the price. The new additions also make it more accessible and approachable to modern players."

    Siliconera - 8/10

    "Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is great for many reasons, ranging from being a means of preserving fantastic games, easily play Power Stone, and reminding people the Rival Schools series existed. The roster of games available is sound"

    CGMagazine - 8/10

    "Capcom Fighting Collection 2 doesn’t change much in terms of presentation and performance compared to past releases. Still, this latest compilation goes beyond Street Fighter and highlights some of the more eclectic titles from Capcom’s deep catalogue of fighting game standouts."

    A fantasy score?

    That's a wrap

    Exciting news for SEGA fighting fans

  • Ubisoft's Prince Of Persia Remake Expected By 2026, But It's Delaying Other Major IP

    Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube812k
    It's been some time since Ubisoft provided an update about the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 'Remake' project, but we've officially got one in the company's latest earnings call.
    Although the plan is to now provide unannounced major IPs additional development time to improve the overall quality of each experience after a similar delay helped Assassin's Creed Shadows - it seems the long-awaited Sands of Time remake could be on the horizon.
    The long-awaited title, originally revealed in 2020, is now scheduled to be released in the current financial year, ending March 2026.

    “After a thorough review of its pipeline that took place from October to December, the Group decided to provide additional development time to some of its biggest productions in order to create the best conditions for success... This decision has already been beneficial to the quality of Assassin’s Creed Shadows."

    It's believed The Sands of Time Remake will be narrowed to a release sometime between January and March of next year at this stage. No platforms have been confirmed, but a Switch version was referenced at one stage, and the original game was released on GameCube. This project update follows the news last year Ubisoft had bolstered the remake's development with Ubisoft Toronto joining the project.
    The last Prince of Persia game released on a Nintendo platform was The Lost Crown last January, which unfortunately led to the same team being disbanded by Ubisoft after a disastrous year for the company. More recently Ubisoft has opened a new subsidiary with Tencent focused on key IP.

    Could another Ubisoft game be on the way?

    "A new chapter in its history"

    What series would you like to see next-gen?

    Would you be interested in returning to The Sands of Time in the future? Have you played the original release? How do you feel about Ubisoft giving its other games more development time? Let us know in the comments.Share:0

  • Mortal Kombat 1 Looks To Be Winding Down Support With The 'Definitive Edition'

    Image: WB Games, NetherRealm StudiosFollowing rumours late last year Mortal Kombat 1 could be winding down its support sooner rather than later, NetherRealm and WB Games have this week announced the arrival of the Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition.
    This version of the game, which is available for USD, is said to offer the "most extensive Mortal Kombat 1 experience" including not only the base game and more recent Khaos Reigns story expansion but also both Kombat Packs.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube812kWatch on YouTube
    All up there are 35 fighters and 21 Kameos. Additionally, you'll also get the "new movie skins" update, Animalities which dropped alongside Khaos Reigns, and there's even Floyd. You can see the full trailer for the Definitive Edition on the game's official YouTube channel.
    This again follows rumours in 2024 about NetherRealm supposedly axing its plans for a second story expansion and third Kombat Pack. It follows the series co-creator Ed Boon claiming this particular entry could potentially have "years of content" going forward following its release in 2023.
    Alongside this announcement is a "May Hotfix" update which contains character and Kameo Fighter changes and adjustments.

  • PSA: Mix And Match Your Switch OLED At Nintendo's New Store (US)

    Image: Nintendo Life
    It might be incredibly late in the Switch's life to be doing this, but Nintendo will allow fans who visit its new store in San Francisco to fully customise the colour of their brand-new Switch OLED.
    This includes the Joy-Con colours and also the Joy-Con wrist straps.
    Of course, you are bit more limited when it comes to the dock choices.
    IGN has shared a quick look at this process, and once you're done, Nintendo's staff members at the store will put together your design and box it up on the same day.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube812kWatch on YouTube

    While this offer isn't available everywhere, there are other parts of the world where this level of customisation is available.
    This includes Nintendo's Japanese website where fans are also able to pick and choose the Joy-Con colours and straps they want.
    If you are wanting a similar experience but don't have access to something like this nearby, the beauty of the Switch is you can buy all these parts separately and mix and match them as much as you like.
    Nintendo will be offering just one version of the Switch 2, the system dock and the Joy-Con 2 controller - so there's nothing like this level of customisation (at least yet).
    If we hear anything though, we'll let you know.
    In some related news, Nintendo's San Francisco store will also be offering mini sculpture replicas.
    You can find out more in our previous story.
