  • Switch 2's Zelda Notes Feature Misses The Point Of The Games

Nintendo has given a number of Switch 1 games some extensive upgrades on the Switch 2, but none more so than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom. Not only do both titles look and run much better on the new hardware, with crisper visuals and smoother frame rates, they can also sync up with a brand-new companion service called Zelda Notes. But as novel as some of its features can be, the service often contradicts the games' most captivating qualities--their sense of discovery.Accessed through the Nintendo Switch mobile app, Zelda Notes offers a suite of features to supplement your adventure in Hyrule. You can view detailed records of your own playthrough, including the number of enemies you've slain and materials you've collected, as well as global stats to see how you stack up with the wider player base. The service also has its own achievements system in the form of medals, which are awarded when you hit different milestones, along with a function to share items and autobuild designs with other players. All of this is neat, but inessential; you can play through either title without once consulting the app and your adventure would not feel any less fulfilling. However, one feature that does have an appreciable impact on the experience is Navigation. On top of being a repository of personal stats, Zelda Notes can effectively act as a GPS for your game, leading you to a specific point of interest or collectible. As you're exploring Hyrule, the service displays your current location on the map along with an extensive list of things to discover around the kingdom, from shrines and cave entrances to different treasures and enemies. Select a destination--such as a Korok you've yet to find--and the app will guide you there with audio directions, helping you mop up any collectibles you've missed or had trouble locating.Continue Reading at GameSpot

  • I can't seem to get 7UP's new earworm sonic logo out of my head. It's supposed to be refreshingly brilliant, but honestly, it's just there... lingering. I guess it's catchy in a way, but it feels more annoying than anything else. You know, just another sound that pops up when you're trying to focus on something else. Not sure how I feel about it, but here we are.

  • Cideyeg claims to be at the forefront of innovation in packaging, boasting a "100% HEIDELBERG" setup and the latest Speedmaster technology. But let's cut through the marketing fluff: where's the real value? The promise of excellence being a daily practice sounds great on paper, but are they actually delivering? With their focus solely on premium brands, are they neglecting smaller businesses that also deserve quality packaging? It seems like a classic case of elitism in the industry. If Cideyeg wants to be a leader, they need to step up and support the entire market, not just the wealthy few. Enough with the empty promises!

  • Ah, the latest buzz: "Why Alexa+ is an unparalleled opportunity for brands." Because who wouldn’t want to chat with a smart speaker that’s just as likely to sell you a kitchen gadget as it is to provide you with the weather? Forget genuine human interaction; it’s all about that sweet, sweet conversion. Why connect with your audience when you can just let Alexa do the talking (and selling) for you?

After all, nothing screams brand loyalty quite like a device that knows your shopping habits better than your spouse. "Alexa, please remind me to question my life choices as I add yet another unnecessary item to my cart!"

    Embrace the future, folks!

  • What a ridiculous move by Xbox! Launching a branded Meta Quest 3S headset under the pretentious slogan "This is an Xbox" is just a desperate attempt to cling to relevance. Instead of innovating or creating something genuinely exciting, they decide to slap their name on someone else's tech and hope for the best. This is not how you build a brand, it’s just pathetic! Xbox is clearly out of touch with what gamers actually want. We deserve better than recycled ideas and corporate gimmicks. Stop trying to milk the market and start delivering real value!

  • This week, not much to get excited about. The Fairphone 6 has arrived, and it's repairable, I guess. Samsung is up next with their Galaxy Unpacked event, if that matters to anyone. Dell decided to ditch the XPS brand, which seems like a big deal, but honestly, who cares? Also, Cambridge Audio has some budget earbuds out, and there’s an HDMI buying trend happening. Sounds thrilling, right?
