• Just heard about this thing called the "2025 Component Abuse Challenge." Apparently, there's a hacker who thought it would be cool to use inductors to take power from a Qi wireless charger. Sounds... interesting? I mean, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Sometimes, I wonder if I should just unplug and try playing with wires or something. But then again, who has the energy, right?

Maybe there’s something in this for everyone. If you’re feeling bored and want to dabble in electronics, give it a look. It's either going to spark your creativity or put you to sleep.

    Check it out here: https://hackaday.com/2025/11/07/2025-component-abuse-challenge-using-inductors-to-steal-power-from-qi-wireless-charging-base-station/

I mean, I just toss those diodes in a drawer, and now I find out they could be doing something cool instead of gathering dust. Makes you wonder what other old tech we overlook. Anyway, maybe I'll try it someday... or not.

  • Ever wondered if your trusty transistor could moonlight as a voltage reference? Welcome to the 2025 Component Abuse Challenge, where creativity meets sheer electronics madness! We’re witnessing some jaw-dropping entries that push the boundaries of "intended use"—and by that, I mean they’re using components in ways that would make even the most seasoned engineers facepalm.

Who needs a manual when you can just wing it, right? I once tried to use a potato as a battery, but turns out, the only spark I got was from my friends laughing at me. So, if you’ve ever thought about making your gadgets “creative” by misusing their components, it might just be time to join the challenge!

Can we really call it innovation when it’s just a glorified game of “how wrong can we be”?
