    The service is developed in partnership with Accenture Song, using Accenture AI Refinery built on NVIDIA Omniverse for advanced digital twin creation. It uses NVIDIA AI Enterprise for generative AI, hosted on Microsoft Azure for robust cloud infrastructure.
    Nestlé already has a baseline of 4,000 3D digital products — mainly for global brands — with the ambition to convert a total of 10,000 products into digital twins in the next two years across global and local brands.

    I will share an example from my previous organization at one of the financial services where we were very data-driven, which made a major impact on our critical decision regarding our credit card offerings.
    We analyzed the customer engagement data, and we discovered that a large segment of our millennial customers were underutilizing our traditional credit cards but showed high engagement with mobile payment platforms.
    That insight led us to develop and launch our first digital credit card product with enhanced mobile features and rewards tailored to the millennial spending habits. Since we had access to a lot of transactional data as well, we were able to build a financial product which met that specific segment’s needs.

    That data-driven decision resulted in a 40% increase in our new credit card applications from this demographic within the first quarter of the launch. Subsequently, our market share improved in that specific segment, which was very crucial.

    5. Are there any other examples of ways that you see customer engagement data being able to shape marketing strategy in real time?
    When it comes to using the engagement data in real-time, we do quite a few things. In the recent past two, three years, we are using that for dynamic content personalization, adjusting the website content, email messaging, or ad creative based on real-time user behavior and preferences.
    We automate campaign optimization using specific AI-driven tools to continuously analyze performance metrics and automatically reallocate the budget to top-performing channels or ad segments.
    Then we also build responsive social media engagement platforms like monitoring social media sentiments and trending topics to quickly adapt the messaging and create timely and relevant content.

    With one-on-one personalization, we do a lot of A/B testing as part of the overall rapid testing and market elements like subject lines, CTAs, and building various successful variants of the campaigns.

    We have advanced CDP systems, and we are tracking each customer’s behavior in real-time. So the moment they move to different channels, we know what the context is, what the relevance is, and the recent interaction points, so we can cater the right offer.
    So for example, if you looked at a certain offer on the website and you came from Google, and then the next day you walk into an in-person interaction, our agent will already know that you were looking at that offer.
    That gives our customer or potential customer more one-to-one personalization instead of just segment-based or bulk interaction kind of experience.

    We have a huge team of data scientists, data analysts, and AI model creators who help us to analyze big volumes of data and bring the right insights to our marketing and sales team so that they can provide the right experience to our customers.

    Primarily with product development — we have different products, not just the financial products or products whichever organizations sell, but also various products like mobile apps or websites they use for transactions. So that kind of product development gets improved.

    I think the huge amount of data we are dealing with. As we are getting more digitally savvy and most of the customers are moving to digital channels, we are getting a lot of data, and that sheer volume of data can be overwhelming, making it very difficult to identify truly meaningful patterns and insights.

    Because of the huge data overload, we create data silos in this process, so information often exists in separate systems across different departments. We are not able to build a holistic view of customer engagement.

    Because of data silos and overload of data, data quality issues appear. There is inconsistency, and inaccurate data can lead to incorrect insights or poor decision-making. Quality issues could also be due to the wrong format of the data, or the data is stale and no longer relevant.
    As we are growing and adding more people to help us understand customer engagement, I’ve also noticed that technical folks, especially data scientists and data analysts, lack skills to properly interpret the data or apply data insights effectively.
    So there’s a lack of understanding of marketing and sales as domains.
    It’s a huge effort and can take a lot of investment.

    Not being able to calculate the ROI of your overall investment is a big challenge that many organizations are facing.

    9. Why do you think the analysts don’t have the business acumen to properly do more than analyze the data?
    If people do not have the right idea of why we are collecting this data, we collect a lot of noise, and that brings in huge volumes of data. If you cannot stop that from step one—not bringing noise into the data system—that cannot be done by just technical folks or people who do not have business knowledge.
    Business people do not know everything about what data is being collected from which source and what data they need. It’s a gap between business domain knowledge, specifically marketing and sales needs, and technical folks who don’t have a lot of exposure to that side.

    Similarly, marketing business people do not have much exposure to the technical side — what’s possible to do with data, how much effort it takes, what’s relevant versus not relevant, and how to prioritize which data sources will be most important.

    10. Do you have any suggestions for how this can be overcome, or have you seen it in action where it has been solved before?
    First, cross-functional training: training different roles to help them understand why we’re doing this and what the business goals are, giving technical people exposure to what marketing and sales teams do.
    And giving business folks exposure to the technology side through training on different tools, strategies, and the roadmap of data integrations.
    The second is helping teams work more collaboratively. So it’s not like the technology team works in a silo and comes back when their work is done, and then marketing and sales teams act upon it.

    Now we’re making it more like one team. You work together so that you can complement each other, and we have a better strategy from day one.

    11. How do you address skepticism or resistance from stakeholders when presenting data-driven recommendations?
    We present clear business cases where we demonstrate how data-driven recommendations can directly align with business objectives and potential ROI.
    We build compelling visualizations, easy-to-understand charts and graphs that clearly illustrate the insights and the implications for business goals.

    We also do a lot of POCs and pilot projects with small-scale implementations to showcase tangible results and build confidence in the data-driven approach throughout the organization.

    I’ve found that Customer Data Platforms help us unify customer data from various sources, providing a comprehensive view of customer interactions across touch points.

    We established clear guidelines for data collection, storage, and usage across all channels to maintain consistency. Then we use data integration platforms — tools that consolidate data from various sources into a single unified view, reducing discrepancies and inconsistencies.
    While we collect data from different sources, we clean the data so it becomes cleaner with every stage of processing.
    We also conduct regular data audits — performing periodic checks to identify and rectify data quality issues, ensuring accuracy and reliability of information. We also deploy standardized data formats.

    On top of that, we have various automated data cleansing tools, specific software to detect and correct data errors, redundancies, duplicates, and inconsistencies in data sets automatically.

    14. How do you see the role of customer engagement data evolving in shaping business strategies over the next five years?
    The first thing that’s been the biggest trend from the past two years is AI-driven decision making, which I think will become more prevalent, with advanced algorithms processing vast amounts of engagement data in real-time to inform strategic choices.
    Somewhat related to this is predictive analytics, which will play an even larger role, enabling businesses to anticipate customer needs and market trends with more accuracy and better predictive capabilities.
    We also touched upon hyper-personalization. We are all trying to strive toward more hyper-personalization at scale, which is more one-on-one personalization, as we are increasingly capturing more engagement data and have bigger systems and infrastructure to support processing those large volumes of data so we can achieve those hyper-personalization use cases.
    As the world is collecting more data, privacy concerns and regulations come into play.
    I believe in the next few years there will be more innovation toward how businesses can collect data ethically and what the usage practices are, leading to more transparent and consent-based engagement data strategies.
    And lastly, I think about the integration of engagement data, which is always a big challenge. I believe as we’re solving those integration challenges, we are adding more and more complex data sources to the picture.

Are there any other examples of ways that you see customer engagement data being able to shape marketing strategy in real time? When it comes to using the engagement data in real-time, we do quite a few things. In the recent past two, three years, we are using that for dynamic content personalization, adjusting the website content, email messaging, or ad creative based on real-time user behavior and preferences. We automate campaign optimization using specific AI-driven tools to continuously analyze performance metrics and automatically reallocate the budget to top-performing channels or ad segments. Then we also build responsive social media engagement platforms like monitoring social media sentiments and trending topics to quickly adapt the messaging and create timely and relevant content. With one-on-one personalization, we do a lot of A/B testing as part of the overall rapid testing and market elements like subject lines, CTAs, and building various successful variants of the campaigns. 6. How are you doing the 1:1 personalization? We have advanced CDP systems, and we are tracking each customer’s behavior in real-time. So the moment they move to different channels, we know what the context is, what the relevance is, and the recent interaction points, so we can cater the right offer. So for example, if you looked at a certain offer on the website and you came from Google, and then the next day you walk into an in-person interaction, our agent will already know that you were looking at that offer. That gives our customer or potential customer more one-to-one personalization instead of just segment-based or bulk interaction kind of experience. We have a huge team of data scientists, data analysts, and AI model creators who help us to analyze big volumes of data and bring the right insights to our marketing and sales team so that they can provide the right experience to our customers. 7. What role does customer engagement data play in influencing cross-functional decisions, such as with product development, sales, and customer service? Primarily with product development — we have different products, not just the financial products or products whichever organizations sell, but also various products like mobile apps or websites they use for transactions. So that kind of product development gets improved. The engagement data helps our sales and marketing teams create more targeted campaigns, optimize channel selection, and refine messaging to resonate with specific customer segments. Customer service also gets helped by anticipating common issues, personalizing support interactions over the phone or email or chat, and proactively addressing potential problems, leading to improved customer satisfaction and retention. So in general, cross-functional application of engagement improves the customer-centric approach throughout the organization. 8. What do you think some of the main challenges marketers face when trying to translate customer engagement data into actionable business insights? I think the huge amount of data we are dealing with. As we are getting more digitally savvy and most of the customers are moving to digital channels, we are getting a lot of data, and that sheer volume of data can be overwhelming, making it very difficult to identify truly meaningful patterns and insights. Because of the huge data overload, we create data silos in this process, so information often exists in separate systems across different departments. We are not able to build a holistic view of customer engagement. Because of data silos and overload of data, data quality issues appear. There is inconsistency, and inaccurate data can lead to incorrect insights or poor decision-making. Quality issues could also be due to the wrong format of the data, or the data is stale and no longer relevant. As we are growing and adding more people to help us understand customer engagement, I’ve also noticed that technical folks, especially data scientists and data analysts, lack skills to properly interpret the data or apply data insights effectively. So there’s a lack of understanding of marketing and sales as domains. It’s a huge effort and can take a lot of investment. Not being able to calculate the ROI of your overall investment is a big challenge that many organizations are facing. 9. Why do you think the analysts don’t have the business acumen to properly do more than analyze the data? If people do not have the right idea of why we are collecting this data, we collect a lot of noise, and that brings in huge volumes of data. If you cannot stop that from step one—not bringing noise into the data system—that cannot be done by just technical folks or people who do not have business knowledge. Business people do not know everything about what data is being collected from which source and what data they need. It’s a gap between business domain knowledge, specifically marketing and sales needs, and technical folks who don’t have a lot of exposure to that side. Similarly, marketing business people do not have much exposure to the technical side — what’s possible to do with data, how much effort it takes, what’s relevant versus not relevant, and how to prioritize which data sources will be most important. 10. Do you have any suggestions for how this can be overcome, or have you seen it in action where it has been solved before? First, cross-functional training: training different roles to help them understand why we’re doing this and what the business goals are, giving technical people exposure to what marketing and sales teams do. And giving business folks exposure to the technology side through training on different tools, strategies, and the roadmap of data integrations. The second is helping teams work more collaboratively. So it’s not like the technology team works in a silo and comes back when their work is done, and then marketing and sales teams act upon it. Now we’re making it more like one team. You work together so that you can complement each other, and we have a better strategy from day one. 11. How do you address skepticism or resistance from stakeholders when presenting data-driven recommendations? We present clear business cases where we demonstrate how data-driven recommendations can directly align with business objectives and potential ROI. We build compelling visualizations, easy-to-understand charts and graphs that clearly illustrate the insights and the implications for business goals. We also do a lot of POCs and pilot projects with small-scale implementations to showcase tangible results and build confidence in the data-driven approach throughout the organization. 12. What technologies or tools have you found most effective for gathering and analyzing customer engagement data? I’ve found that Customer Data Platforms help us unify customer data from various sources, providing a comprehensive view of customer interactions across touch points. Having advanced analytics platforms — tools with AI and machine learning capabilities that can process large volumes of data and uncover complex patterns and insights — is a great value to us. We always use, or many organizations use, marketing automation systems to improve marketing team productivity, helping us track and analyze customer interactions across multiple channels. Another thing is social media listening tools, wherever your brand is mentioned or you want to measure customer sentiment over social media, or track the engagement of your campaigns across social media platforms. Last is web analytical tools, which provide detailed insights into your website visitors’ behaviors and engagement metrics, for browser apps, small browser apps, various devices, and mobile apps. 13. How do you ensure data quality and consistency across multiple channels to make these informed decisions? We established clear guidelines for data collection, storage, and usage across all channels to maintain consistency. Then we use data integration platforms — tools that consolidate data from various sources into a single unified view, reducing discrepancies and inconsistencies. While we collect data from different sources, we clean the data so it becomes cleaner with every stage of processing. We also conduct regular data audits — performing periodic checks to identify and rectify data quality issues, ensuring accuracy and reliability of information. We also deploy standardized data formats. On top of that, we have various automated data cleansing tools, specific software to detect and correct data errors, redundancies, duplicates, and inconsistencies in data sets automatically. 14. How do you see the role of customer engagement data evolving in shaping business strategies over the next five years? The first thing that’s been the biggest trend from the past two years is AI-driven decision making, which I think will become more prevalent, with advanced algorithms processing vast amounts of engagement data in real-time to inform strategic choices. Somewhat related to this is predictive analytics, which will play an even larger role, enabling businesses to anticipate customer needs and market trends with more accuracy and better predictive capabilities. We also touched upon hyper-personalization. We are all trying to strive toward more hyper-personalization at scale, which is more one-on-one personalization, as we are increasingly capturing more engagement data and have bigger systems and infrastructure to support processing those large volumes of data so we can achieve those hyper-personalization use cases. As the world is collecting more data, privacy concerns and regulations come into play. I believe in the next few years there will be more innovation toward how businesses can collect data ethically and what the usage practices are, leading to more transparent and consent-based engagement data strategies. And lastly, I think about the integration of engagement data, which is always a big challenge. I believe as we’re solving those integration challenges, we are adding more and more complex data sources to the picture.     Interestingly, Nintendo released its Switch 2 just last week. The public has received it with much enthusiasm, seeing as it’s already sold around 3.5M units in the first four days of its release.
    Needless to say, Xbox and Nintendo will be direct competitors in the handheld segment now. We looked at the spec sheets and customer reviews, and both handheld gaming devices seem to have different target audiences.
    Let’s unpack them in detail.
    Memory and Storage
    The ROG Xbox Ally comes in standard white color and features the AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, with a 60Wh battery. The Ally X, on the other hand, comes in striking black with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor, 24 GB of memory, and 1 TB of storage, and a 80Wh battery.

    Right off the bat, we believe that Microsoft has done a good job with the storage and processors. In comparison, the Nintendo Switch 2 has 12GB of memory with just 256GB of internal storage. On paper, the Xbox series looks to have an advantage over the Switch 2, which uses a custom NVIDIA T239 chipset for raw power.

    Nvidia’s DLSS, however, gives Switch 2 an advantage over Xbox’s AMD Ryzen processors. DLSS can render games at lower resolutions and, therefore, achieve higher in-use frame rates, which boosts its overall performance.
    Simply put, despite the gap in on-paper specifications, the Switch 2 may render comparable performance to the Xbox Ally. Take this with a pinch of salt, though, because we’ll only be able to confirm this once we get our hands on the new Xbox handhelds.
    Display
    Both the Xbox handhelds feature a 7-inch Full HDscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the Switch 2 screen is bigger, with a 7.9-inch display, also rendering at 120 Hz. However, Switch 2 also features HDR10, giving it a significant edge over Xbox Ally.

    HDR10 ensures a much wider range of brightness levels and a broader spectrum of colors, so the display looks more vibrant and lifelike. Plus, you’ll see more detailed blacks and whites on the screen with better realism and depth, enhancing your overall gaming experience.
    The Switch 2 also features VRR technology, which prevents screen tearing and reduces stutter. Notably, the Xbox Ally range has its own version of the VRR, FreeSync Premium. So, truth be told, you might not experience much of a difference in that area. However, HDR10 can definitely prove to be a winner for Switch 2.
    Product Market Fit
    While both the Switch 2 and new Xbox handhelds are apparently the same genre of products, Microsoft and Nintendo seem to have different target markets in their minds.
    Microsoft is focusing more on the Windows handheld market, targeting players who want an on-the-go PC gaming experience. With access to Game Pass and titles from Steam and Epic Games, the Xbox Ally offers a more comprehensive library of games.
    Nintendo, on the other hand, looks to build on the legacy of the OG Nintendo Switch, which has sold 152M units since its launch in 2017. It aims to tap in on the Nintendo fan base with original titles such as Mario and an improved gaming experience.
    Also, Xbox is in direct competition with Valve’s Steam Deck. Both are essentially handheld PCs with wide access to PC-compatible aggregated game libraries on the go.
    Xbox is also introducing the ‘Xbox Experience for Handheld’ feature for its new Ally range, which will make Windows 11 more compatible and optimized for its handheld device – something similar to Valve’s SteamOS on the Steam Deck.
    Xbox Exploring a New Market Segment
    The global mobile and handheld gaming market is expected to expand at a rate of 13.8% CAGR till 2034. It may reach a market value of B. 
    Valve’s Steam Deck managed to sell around 3.7M units by the end of 2024. On the other hand, Windows-based devices like the ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw have sold ~5.9M units so far as per early 2025 reports. This shows there’s certainly demand for Windows-based handheld gaming devices. 
    Plus, Xbox’s partnership with ASUS could bring along a brand-value advantage for the product. With a seamless Windows 11 experience on an on-the-go device, these sales figures are expected to swell once the Xbox Ally hits the shelves.
    However, pricing will be a key determinant. The Switch 2 currently sells at – or with the Mario Kart bundle. The Steam Deck starts at and goes up to This means that the price range according to the current market demand is around -Anything more than that may result in market adoption issues.
    The original ASUS ROG Ally is currently priced at There’s little doubt, however, that Xbox would add a premium to this price. So, we’re expecting the price of the ROG Xbox Ally to be around while the ROG Xbox Ally X may cost more than This means that Xbox will be participating in the premium handheld gaming sector, which is something Nintendo and Steam do not cater to.

Xbox aims to bring a wide range of game titles to portable handheld devices in order to cater to the gaming PC market. Xbox has entered the handheld gaming market with two new launches: the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X in partnership with ASUS. Interestingly, Nintendo released its Switch 2 just last week. The public has received it with much enthusiasm, seeing as it’s already sold around 3.5M units in the first four days of its release. Needless to say, Xbox and Nintendo will be direct competitors in the handheld segment now. We looked at the spec sheets and customer reviews, and both handheld gaming devices seem to have different target audiences. Let’s unpack them in detail. Memory and Storage The ROG Xbox Ally comes in standard white color and features the AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, with a 60Wh battery. The Ally X, on the other hand, comes in striking black with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor, 24 GB of memory, and 1 TB of storage, and a 80Wh battery. In comparison, the Nintendo Switch 2 has 12GB of memory with just 256GB of internal storage. On paper, the Xbox series looks to have an advantage over the Switch 2, which uses a custom NVIDIA T239 chipset for raw power. Nvidia’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super-Sampling), however, gives Switch 2 an advantage over Xbox’s AMD Ryzen processors. DLSS can render games at lower resolutions and, therefore, achieve higher in-use frame rates, which boosts its overall performance. Simply put, despite the gap in on-paper specifications, the Switch 2 may render comparable performance to the Xbox Ally. Take this with a pinch of salt, though, because we’ll only be able to confirm this once we get our hands on the new Xbox handhelds.     Odyssey itself was released last year after beta testing at French animation studios including Ellipse Animation, and originally cost €1,200 for a perpetual license.

    Although Odyssey’s main function is to create 2D animation – for movie and broadcast projects, motion graphics, or even games – the plugin adds a wider 2D toolset to Unreal Engine.Other use cases include storyboarding – you can import image sequences and turn them into storyboards – and texturing, either by painting 2D texture maps, or painting onto 3D meshes.
    It supports both 2D and 3D workflows, with the 2D editors – which include a flipbook editor as well as the 2D texture and animation editors – complemented by a 3D viewport.
    The bitmap painting toolset makes use of Unreal Engine’s Blueprint system, making it possible for users to create new painting brushes using a node-based workflow, and supports pressure sensitivity on graphics tablets.
    There is also a vector toolset for creating hard-edged shapes.
    Animation features include onion skinning, Toon Boom-style shift and trace, and automatic inbetweening.
    The plugin supports standard 2D and 3D file formats, including PSD, FBX and USD.

  • FBC: Firebreak developers discuss the inspiration and challenges creating their first multiplayer title

    Things are warming up as Remedy’s FBC: Firebreak approaches its June 17 launch on PlayStation 5 as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. We chatted with Communications Director Thomas Puha, Lead Level Designer Teemu Huhtiniemi, Lead Designer/Lead Technical Designer Anssi Hyytiainen, and Game Director/Lead Writer Mike Kayatta about some of the fascinating and often hilarious development secrets behind the first-person shooter.

    PlayStation Blog: First, what PS5 and PS5 Pro features did you utilize?

    Thomas Puha: We’ll support 3D Audio, and we’re prioritising 60 FPS on both formats. We’re aiming for FSR2 with an output resolution of 2560 x 1440on PS, and PSSR with an output resolution of 3840×2160on PS5 Pro.

    Some of the DualSense wireless controller’s features are still a work in progress, but we’re looking to use haptic feedback in a similar way to our previous titles, such as Control and Alan Wake 2. For example, we want to differentiate the weapons to feel unique from each other using the adaptive triggers.

    Going into the game itself, were there any other influences on its creation outside of Control?

    Mike Kayatta: We looked at different TV shows that had lots of tools for going into a place and dealing with a crisis. One was a reality show called Dirty Jobs, where the host Mike Rowe finds these terrible, dangerous, or unexpected jobs that you don’t know exist, like cleaning out the inside of a water tower.

    We also looked at PowerWash Simulator. Cleaning dirt is oddly meditative and really fulfilling. It made me wish a zombie attacked me to break the Zen, and then I’d go right back to cleaning. And we were like, that would be pretty fun in the game.

    Were there specific challenges you faced given it’s your first multiplayer game and first-person shooter?

    Anssi Hyytiainen: It’s radically different from a workflow point of view. You can’t really test it alone, necessarily, which is quite a different experience. And then there are times when one player is missing things on their screen that others are seeing. It was like, “What are you shooting at?”

    What’s been your favorite moments developing the game so far?

    Teemu Huhtiniemi: There were so many. But I like when we started seeing all of these overlapping systems kind of click, because there’s a long time in the development where you talk about things on paper and have some prototypes, but you don’t really see it all come together until a point. Then you start seeing the interaction between the systems and all the fun that comes out of that.

    Kayatta: I imagine there’s a lot of people who probably are a little skeptical about Remedy making something so different. Even internally, when the project was starting. And once we got the trailer out there, everyone was so nervous, but it got a pretty positive reaction. Exposing it to the public is very motivating, because with games, for a very long time, there is nothing, or it is janky and it’s ugly and you don’t find the fun immediately.

    Were there any specific ideals you followed while you worked on the game?

    Kayatta: Early on we were constantly asking ourselves, “Could this only happen in Control or at Remedy?” Because the first thing you hear is, “Okay, this is just another co-op multiplayer shooter” – there’s thousands of them, and they’re all good. So what can we do to make it worth playing our game? We were always saying we’ve got this super weird universe and really interesting studio, so we’re always looking at what we could do that nobody else can.

    Huhtiniemi: I think for me it was when we chose to just embrace the chaos. Like, that’s the whole point of the game. It’s supposed to feel overwhelming and busy at times, so that was great to say it out loud.

    Kayatta: Yeah, originally we had a prototype where there were only two Hiss in the level, but it just didn’t work, it wasn’t fun. Then everything just accidentally went in the opposite direction, where it was super chaos. At some point we actually started looking at Overcooked quite a bit, and saying, “Look, just embrace it. It’s gonna be nuts.”

    How did you finally decide on the name FBC: Firebreak, and were there any rejected, alternate, or working titles?

    Kayatta: So Firebreak is named after real world firebreaks, where you deforest an area to prevent a fire from spreading, but firebreaks are also topographical features of the Oldest House. And so we leaned into the term being a first responder who stops fires from spreading. The FBC part came from not wanting to put ‘Control’ in the title, so Control players wouldn’t feel like they had to detour to this before Control 2, but we didn’t want to totally detach from it either as that felt insincere.

    An external partner pitched a title. They were very serious about talking up the game being in the Oldest House, and then dramatically revealed the name: Housekeepers. I got what they were going for, but I was like, we cannot call it this. It was like you were playing as a maid!
