• Summer Game Fest 2025 predictions: Everything we expect from Switch 2 to Splinter Cell

Geoff Keighley has promised a record-breaking number of publishers at Summer Game Fest this year, so we’ve rounded up what we think we’ll be playing in the coming monthsTech23:00, 05 Jun 2025We're so ready to step into Samus' boots againE3 might be long gone, but Summer Game Fest has replaced it. While Nintendo Switch 2 has just launched, and Sony has held its own State of Play event, tonight’s show is about as unpredictable as you can get. So, naturally, we’re trying to predict what we’ll be seeing. With everyone from PlayStation to SEGA, Xbox and even Nintendo making an appearance, we’re expecting big things from the showcase, which will be packed with titles for 2025 and beyond.‌While some are known quantities, like Borderlands 4, Little Nightmares 3, and the upcoming Bond game from Hitman developer IO Interactive, we’re still expecting plenty of surprises. Here’s everything we’re predicting for Summer Game Fest 2025.‌There are plenty of big namesWith Geoff Keighley’s events in both the Summer and December being key fixtures on the gaming events calendar, he’s able to pull off plenty of surprises. The Game Awards 2023 revealed Monster Hunter Wilds, while the following year showcased the first gameplay of Slay The Spire 2 and Split Fiction, as well as Elden Ring Nightreign and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. As for Summer Game Fest itself, the show last year featured Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 - all games which were released since then.Article continues belowWe’ve heard rumblings that Capcom’s Pragmata, revealed alongside the PS5 in June 2020, could be shown at the event following an indefinite delay in 2023. It’s just as well, since we have no idea what the game really is yet. We’re also very curious about what Nintendo could show. The Switch 2 is out, but only as of yesterday, so we’d expect a sizzle reel to show what the console is capable of, as well as another look at Donkey Kong Bananza.‌PlayStation is probably easier to predict since the company is launching Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On The Beach in just a few short weeks, and Geoff Keighley will likely find some way of getting the man himself on stage.SEGA has plenty to show, too. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is still due this year, while the company has an ambitious plan to resurrect classic titles starting with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance and leading into Streets of Rage and Crazy Taxi.We tipped a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 announcement for Sony’s State of Play, but we’re still waiting for more news on Kingdom Hearts 4.‌Pearl Abyss is still aiming to launch Crimson Desert this year, but we’re without a release date as yet, while the company is also working on its colourful DokeV which has been MIA for years at this point. While Microsoft is expected to appear, the company has its own showcase just two days later with a big focus on The Outer Worlds 2. As a result, we might just get a sneak peek at this year’s Call of Duty with more to come on Sunday. With Bungie’s Marathon hit by plagiarism accusations, Embark Studios has a great chance to get players onto Arc Raiders as an alternative. Speaking of Bungie, expect a gameplay trailer for Destiny 2: Edge of Fate.‌Elden Ring is coming to Switch 2Call us crazy, but we want a bunch of Switch 2 news. We want to see From Software’s Duskbloods, get a release date for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, and maybe even a Metroid Prime 4 release date from Nintendo itself.Given the history of Monster Hunter on portable consoles, we’ve got everything crossed for the series to come to Switch 2, but coming off of the excellent Wilds, it’s perhaps unlikely.‌Naturally, we’ve always got our fingers crossed that we’ll see Silksong, but rumours have suggested that Team Cherry’s long-awaited Hollow Knight follow-up would be announced at Microsoft’s event if at all.As we said in our State of Play predictions, we’re also expecting to hear more about Resident Evil 9 by the end of this week, in some way, shape, or form. With The Division 2 getting what’s likely its final DLC recently, here’s hoping for The Division 3, which has been rumoured for a while. Or, maybe Ubisoft will finally share something about the Splinter Cell title it has in development.Article continues belowDid we get any correct? That's funny. I just purchased the entire series to have them on physical media.

I've only beat the first 3 back when they first came out, but I'm gonna do the next three including Double Agent - the OG Xbox version - next.

I'll be over the moon if they announce a new game. And I think I'll be interested in a Splinter Cell 1 remake, but would prefer a sequel.

If it's a game and not just some social media post then it's the Blacklist remaster. Apparantly the remake of the original being developed by Ubisoft Toronto isn't in great shape right now so I expect this to keep people placated until that's ready to be shown.

Damn man just give us a remaster of the OG games.

I'm happy that Ubi announced a SC 1 remake but a new game in the series would be preferable, hell I take a reboot.

With them using an image from the original I hope it means a remaster is coming.

I feel like with the originals being easily avaible it would also give them more space to go new directions with the remake

For some reason, stealth gameplay for splinter cell clicked for me and I'm not that into stealth gameplay. But I never really got that into the series though a couple were fun.

It won't be anything meaningful, just a skin or something in one of their live service games or someone elses.

Even if it was a remake or remaster of the original 3, I have absolutely zero confidence Ubisoft would do them justice. They would most likely have just outsourced them to the cheapest bidder.

For sure, I never actually played the OG trilogy so I would love to have a collection of the first three so that I can experience them. For some reason the last few weeks I have been craving to play a new Splinter Cell, the gameplay is unlike any other stealth game and Sam Fisher and his tool set is to damn cool. What a franchise, to bad Ubisoft has abandoned it in the last decade and hopefully that will change next week.

I'm just saying it's not a rumoured or speculated project. It was officially announced three and a half years ago. If it's a 2026 game, 4-5 years is plenty for a remake.

You would think so, but this is ubisoft we're talking about. If it really is far along in development at this point then hopefully they at least show a trailer or some footage during SGF.

But again I still have zero hopes or expectations from anything that ubisoft puts out anymore.

Feels like they've teased it a bunch of times, and it's really just been a collab or something.

I'm not sure this is just a screenshot from an older game either, but could be indicative of an announcement sure, I did enjoy the first 3 games, so would be interested in even just remakes/remasters of them.

I've only beat the first 3 back when they first came out, but I'm gonna do the next three including Double Agent - the OG Xbox version - next. I'll be over the moon if they announce a new game. Nintendo Switch 2 fans expecting secret Christmas game at Summer Game Fest 2025

Mark your calendarsThe big N has joined Sony and Microsoft as an official Summer Games Fest partner, sparking hopes for a big game reveal for the Switch 2.
Next week is going to be an exciting time for gamers, since not only is the Nintendo Switch 2 coming out but Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley’s replacement for the long-dead E3, takes place almost immediately after.
The event kicks off only a day after the Switch 2’s launch on Friday, June 6, and will run across the whole weekend, and is set to feature over 60 different publishers and developers.
A lot of the usual names will be in attendance, including Sony and Microsoft, but surprisingly so is Nintendo, making this the first time it’s been an official partner since 2022.
Considering Nintendo was a no-show at the previous two Summer Game Fests, its appearance this year naturally sparks theories that it’ll have something to announce during the showcase portion on Friday.
What will Nintendo show at Summer Game Fest 2025?
Many fans have already been hoping that Nintendo has a secret Switch 2 game planned for this Christmas, especially after the recent confirmation that Pokémon Legends: Z-A – which is coming to both the original Switch and Switch 2 – will launch this October.
The period afterwards is notably lacking any major Nintendo releases, particularly Switch 2 exclusives. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, another cross-gen title, is meant to launch this year, but while it’s likely to be a critical hit the series has never been a big seller.
There are also Switch 2 exclusives Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders, but they seem even lower profile and strange choices to release in the launch year.
While Nintendo is unpredictable, it’s still hard to imagine it saving any major reveals for an event like Summer Game Fest, rather than one of its own Nintendo Directs.
It typically has Nintendo Directs every June and it is rumoured one could air next week, after the Switch 2’s launch – possibly even as a part of Summer Game Fest.
The most likely explanation though, is that Nintendo is simply attending to promote the Switch 2 and the games it has already announced. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo’s only contribution to the Summer Game Fest showcase was a new montage and some kind of on stage appearance.
What other games will be shown at Summer Game Fest 2025?
At the time of writing, no new reveals are confirmed or even heavily rumoured for Summer Game Fest, although the list of attendees is promisingly long.
Microsoft will certainly have new announcements at its annual Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 8, which will be followed by an in-depth look at The Outer Worlds 2.
With any luck, Microsoft will have new trailers for games like Perfect Dark, Gears Of War: E-Day, Fable, and maybe even a new Halo.
As for Sony, while PlayStation is listed as one of Summer Game Fest’s partners, it’s suspected it won’t have any big first party reveals for the occasion.
Instead, it’s rumoured that Sony will have a smaller scale State of Play later this summer, or possibly not until autumn.
But what about third party companies? Hopefully, Capcom’s presence means a Resident Evil 9 reveal is around the corner, even though it doesn’t look like the game will be out till 2026 at the earliest.
Square Enix has at least two big games fans hope to see at the show: the long rumoured Final Fantasy 9 remake and Kingdom Hearts 4.
There is some circumstantial evidence for both making an appearance, but that’s all there is to go on. The third Final Fantasy 7 Remake game is also a possibility.
A Persona 4 remake from Sega and Atlus could very well show up at either the Summer Game Fest showcase or the Xbox one.

    More Trending

The remake’s been rumoured for a while, but just recently one of the original game’s voice actors, Yuri Lowenthal, gave its existence away by revealing he won’t be coming back for it.
His social media post has been deleted now, but one of his co-stars, Erin Fitzgerald, has since corroborated it by saying she’s being replaced too.
Hideo Kojima’s guest appearance guarantees new footage for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, especially since it launches on June 26. He may also have something to show for OD, the new horror game he’s working on for Xbox.
At the very least, we can rule out seeing anything for his new stealth game Physint since Kojima admitted it won’t be ready for another five or six years.

Nintendo Switch 2 fans expecting secret Christmas game at Summer Game Fest 2025
Nintendo Switch 2 fans expecting secret Christmas game at Summer Game Fest 2025 Michael Beckwith Published May 29, 2025 2:02pm Updated May 29, 2025 2:46pm Mark your calendarsThe big N has joined Sony and Microsoft as an official Summer Games Fest partner, sparking hopes for a big game reveal for the Switch 2. More Trending The remake’s been rumoured for a while, but just recently one of the original game’s voice actors, Yuri Lowenthal, gave its existence away by revealing he won’t be coming back for it. • Massive PS5 discount and Call Of Duty bundle coming this week claims leak

This week might be a good time to grab a PS5Sony is set to announce various price cuts for the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro as part of a new sale, according to a reliable insider.
Shortly after raising the price of the PlayStation 5 digital edition in the UK, it seems Sony is preparing to announce some temporary discounts.
Every year around May, Sony usually holds a Days Of Play event with special offers across PlayStation games and consoles. Last year’s event saw the company make massive £90 reductions on the PSVR2, while the PlayStation 5 received a £40 discount.
It seems Sony is preparing to announce a similar set of discounts for this year, along with a reduction to the recently launched PS5 Pro.
According to reliable leaker Billbil-kun, this year’s Days Of Play event will start from Wednesday, May 28 and run for two weeks until June 11, 2025. As part of this sale, it’s claimed the standard and digital versions of the PlayStation 5 console will receive a discount of €100 in Europe.
While no UK price specifics are given, if it directly lines up, this will equate to around £80 off the £479.99 and £429.99 price for each respective console in the UK.
The PS5 Pro will also apparently see a discount, albeit only €50 off the €799.99 price in Europe. In the UK, the PS5 Pro costs £699.99.
It’s claimed the PSVR2 headset will similarly receive a €50 discount, while a selection of DualSense controllers will be available for €54.99.

    More Trending

According to the leak, these won’t be the only discounts revealed during the event. A series of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 bundles are also expected to launch on the same day, which will include a digital copy of the game alongside the PlayStation 5 console.
The bundle with the standard version of the PlayStation 5, with a disc drive, will apparently cost €50 more than the standard price in the sale, at ‘around 499 euros’. Meanwhile, the digital edition bundle will see the same increase to €449.99.
There’s a chance not all of these promotions will apply to the UK, and it’s unclear if the US tariffs will impact its potential rollout in other territories, but we won’t have long to wait, as the official announcement is expected sometime on Tuesday, May 27.
Beyond this event, Sony is rumoured to be planning a State Of Play presentation for next month, although some believe it may have been delayed to the autumn.

  • BioShock remake might be happening as insider teases announcement

Another return to Rapture?A source has claimed a BioShock announcement is set to drop this summer, and most signs point to a potential remake.
While we know several projects are underway in the BioShock franchise, news around the series has been relatively light over the past few years.
The next mainline instalment, provisionally titled BioShock 4, was announced way back in 2019 from developer Cloud Chamber. We’ve heard little about the game since, outside of a job listing which suggested development was ramping up last year.
We know a Netflix film adaptation is also in the works, while rumours of a BioShock remake have floated around following a LinkedIn post from a 2K employee. We’ve heard little about these projects either, but an insider has claimed news related to the franchise is on the near horizon.
According to leaker Kurakasis, who accurately outed the existence of a Metro VR game last year, publisher 2K is preparing to make an announcement related to the BioShock franchise, which will ‘likely’ happen before the end of the summer.
The actual contents of the announcement are unknown, but the leaker claims Rapture, the underwater city setting from the first two games, will play a ‘significant role’. As such, they speculate it could be connected to the rumoured remake of the first title.
However, the report throws up some other possibilities. While rumours suggested BioShock 4 would be set in the Antarctic, it’s possible it could feature Rapture in some capacity. The announcement could also be tied to the Netflix movie, which will presumably adapt the events of the first game.

    More Trending

While it hasn’t been announced, a remake of BioShock makes a lot of sense as a way to drum up excitement for the next instalment – especially as the latter might still be a few years away.
Considering how vague the details are though, it’s possible this announcement could be related to something else entirely within the BioShock franchise. So let’s just hope it isn’t a mobile spin-off.
As for when this announcement could happen, the obvious contender is Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 6. It could also pop at Microsoft’s Xbox showcase on June 8, or the rumoured State Of Play from Sony.

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows co-op mode coming in 2026 after DLC claims report

A voyage to AwajiA new leak has shed light on the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows first DLC, along with a rumoured co-op mode.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows may have fallen short of sales for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but it’s still been a major hit for Ubisoft.
Set in feudal Japan, the new instalment scored the second highest day one sales in the franchise’s history. In the US, meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the second best-selling game of the year so far, behind Monster Hunter Wilds.
Ubisoft has already announced the game’s first DLC, Claws Of Awaji, will release later this year, but a new report has narrowed down the release date.
According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is ‘targeting September 2025’ for the Claws Of Awaji DLC, citing sources familiar with the game’s development. However, it’s claimed the DLC could be pushed back to October this year, depending on Ubisoft’s release strategy for other titles.
Elsewhere in the report, the previously rumoured co-op mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, codenamed League, is said to still be in development and will launch ‘sometime next year’.
While this co-op mode was originally assumed to revolve around the game’s two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, a source suggests it might include other characters too.
‘While they’re obviously central characters, there’s a deeper narrative tied into the co-op that will expand the experience beyond just the two of them,’ a source states.
Assassin’s Creed has some history with multiplayer, with the Paris-based Assassin’s Creed Unity featuring dedicated co-op missions. Other games in the series have had multiplayer modes as well, like Assassin’s Creed 3’s wolfpack mode, but this was only really a minor distraction.

    More Trending

As for Assassin’s Creed Shadows first DLC, Claws Of Awaji takes place on the island of Awaji, where you will ‘reclaim a lost treasure while avoiding the traps and ambushes of deadly new foes’, according to a synopsis.
It will feature a new bō weapon type for Naoe, along with new skills, gear, and abilities over the course of 10 hours.
Beyond Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is reportedly developing a multiplayer spin-off codenamed Invictus and a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Ports of both Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Shadows are also apparently on the way for the Switch 2.

More Trending As for Assassin’s Creed Shadows first DLC, Claws Of Awaji takes place on the island of Awaji, where you will ‘reclaim a lost treasure while avoiding the traps and ambushes of deadly new foes’, according to a synopsis. Assassin’s Creed Shadows co-op mode coming in 2026 after DLC claims report
A voyage to Awaji (Ubisoft) A new leak has shed light on the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows first DLC, along with a rumoured co-op mode. • OpenAI’s Sam Altman Reportedly Hints at New AI Device Being Developed With Jony Ive

OpenAI announced its acquisition of former Apple designer Jony Ive's artificial intelligencehardware startup io on Wednesday. Just hours after that, CEO Sam Altman reportedly revealed information about the secretive AI device the two companies are building. As per the report, the under-the-wrap device is not a smartphone, or a wearable such as smartglasses. Altman reportedly also remains optimistic that the AI device could significantly boost OpenAI's valuation and become a crowd favourite. Notably, a report claimed that Ive's startup was acquired by OpenAI for billion.Sam Altman's Hints About the Secret AI DeviceAccording to The Wall Street Journal, Altman told the OpenAI staff about the AI device he is developing with Ive during an internal staff call. The publication reviewed a recording of the call where the CEO shared plans to ship “100 million AI companions,” which will become part of people's everyday life.Altman reportedly revealed that the device will be contextually aware of the user's surroundings as well as their life. The former hints at the presence of either cameras or sensors on the device, while the latter makes it likely that it would have Internet access and can connect to other devices or apps to collect information about users. However, the OpenAI CEO reportedly highlighted that the device will be unobtrusive and pocket-sized. It is said to also be able to be kept on one's desk. Again, the unobtrusive part corroborates with previous reports that claimed that the device will not have a screen. The description of the size hints that the device could be roughly the size of a smartphone — another piece of information which was previously rumoured.Apart from this, Altman reportedly said that it would become the “third core device a person would put on their desk after a MacBook Pro and an iPhone.” If this is true, then it is possible that the AI device might offer a separate use case than a smartphone or a laptop. While the description so far might lead some people to believe that it could be a wearable device, similar to the Humane AI Pin or Rabbit R1, Altman reportedly said that the device is neither a pair of glasses nor something that can be worn on the body, during the call.

No other details about the device are currently known. However, Altman is said to have suggested that the acquisition could lead to a family of devices that had the potential to increase OpenAI's valuation by trillion.

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 to Arrive With Samsung’s First 3nm Chip After Skipping the Galaxy S25 Series: Report

Samsung's Galaxy Z lineup this year is going to be interesting for a variety of reasons. Slated for a July launch, there's the bigger, book-style Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 that is tipped to get plenty of hardware upgrades along with a bigger display and a thinner design. Next, we have the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is said to get a smaller share of design updates. Reports also hint at the existence of a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE model, which will be an affordable clamshell much like the Motorola Razr 50.Citing a reliable source, SamMobile states that Samsung's upcoming clamshell foldable will be powered by an Exynos chipset. This would be none other than the much-rumoured Exynos 2500, which was expected to make its debut with the Samsung Galaxy S25 this year but was held back because of poor yield.Previous repots hinted at this change, but a recent one also pointed out that the Exynos 2500 would not make it to the expected Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE model. The source told the publication that this would be a 3nm chip with a maximum clock speed of 3.3GHz. The SoC has a 10-core CPU and an Xclipse 950 GPU with 16MB of L3 cache. Built using the second-gen 3nm node, in Samsung's own foundry, the chipset was recently rumoured. The news of a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 featuring the same chip aligns with older reports, as it is expected to be announced in July.According to SamMobile, only select markets will get this new processor. The Exynos 2500 SoC is currently said to make it to most Samsung markets including India and South Korea. Whether or not it performs on par with rival chipsets is something we will find out when the smartphone is launched, but the Exynos 2400inside the Galaxy S24 did well in our review, so it might just be the perfect fit for a foldable phone. If Samsung does launch a Galaxy Z series smartphone with a home-grown Exynos SoC, it would be the first time it's doing so as all of Samsung's foldable models have always featured Qualcomm chipsets in the past.

  • Xbox exclusive with best graphics ever is getting enhanced on PS5 Pro

Hellblade 2 is coming to PS5Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is the latest first party Xbox game to come to the PS5 and this time a special effort is being made with its already excellent graphics.
The annoucement of previously exclusive Xbox games coming to PlayStation 5 is becoming increasingly commonplace but so far none of them have been anything more than straightforward ports, with no enhancements or additions beyond DualSense support.
A PlayStation 5 version of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was rumoured earlier in the yearbut according to Microsoft it will be optimised for both the standard PlayStation 5 and the more powerful PS5 Pro.
They’re currently being vague as to what difference this will make but it will coincide with a free update for Xbox Series X/S and PC that will add new features to all versions of the game.
As we explored in our original review, Hellblade 2 isn’t a very good video game, but it does have perhaps the best graphics ever seen in a console title, at least in terms of photorealism.
Things can always be improved though, especially with the benefit of hindsight, and the PS5 Pro is the most powerful console ever made, even if its abilities haven’t really been stretched so far.
Unfortunately, the annoucement of Hellblade 2 for PlayStation 5 is vague across the board, with the release date confirmed only as sometime this summer.
That means It will likely appear as part of the Xbox summer showcase, on June 8, although that’s not entirely guaranteed as Microsoft continues to be very reticent about talking about multiformat releases in public.
Not only that but the pretence of supporting the Switch 2 has so far added up to nothing at all and Hellblade 2 is also not coming to Nintendo’s new console, although in this case it is unlikely the Switch 2 could handle the game and have it look anywhere near as good as the Xbox version.

    More Trending

That said, the original Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released on both PlayStation 4 and Switch, before Microsoft bought developer Ninja Theory in 2018.
As the developers point out on their website, the studio got its first big break working on PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, back in 2007.
There had been some concern that Hellblade 2 had performed poorly on Xbox and PC, in terms of sales and Game Pass usage, and that it might put Ninja Theory at risk of being shut down.
But not only are they working on a horror project codenamed Project: Mara, they’re also helping out with Microsoft’s attempts to use generative AI in video games.

More Trending That said, the original Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released on both PlayStation 4 and Switch, before Microsoft bought developer Ninja Theory in 2018.
