LEGO releases most of its new sets on the first of each month. But some sets can’t be contained in such a tidy way. Some sets come out whenever they darn well please. Today sees the release of three new sets that are all pretty cool, with a Mario Kart set leading the pack. It’s in stock now but for how long is impossible to say (Nintendo) Three separate retailers have Nintendo Switch 2 console pre-orders available today, including some new and very expensive game bundles. There have been no big announcements, from Nintendo or anyone else, but after Very had active Switch 2 pre-orders for most of this week other retailers seem to have got stock in too. The big news is that Nintendo themselves are now offering pre-orders for both the console on its own and the Mario Kart World bundle, so there’s obviously been a big delivery recently. There’s no guarantee how long they’ll last but then there’s been very little communication about stock at all during the pre-order process, with no forewarning from Nintendo or anyone else. But with the June 5 launch of the console rapidly approaching it’s a relief to see new stock is arriving all the time. The only official bundle for the Switch 2 is the one with Mario Kart World, which is priced at £429.99. The console alone costs £395.99. As you can see, some retailers have made up their own bundles, which raises the price even further, but at least some of these involve desirable extras, like the camera use for the GameChat feature that Nintendo is keen to promote. Although a lot of pre-orders have gone up this week, the other option is eBay – where scalpers have been posting pre-orders ever since the Switch 2 went on sale. That hasn’t gone down well with fans though, who have repeatedly tried to stop them. Dungeons & Dragons has been working to integrate some of the biggest third-party publishers of 5E content into its D&D Beyond digital ecosystem, making it easier for Dungeon Masters to keep track of all their books, and allowing players to incorporate unofficial classes, feats, and spells into their virtual character sheets. D&D Beyond incorporated Ruins of Symbaroum earlier this month and Heliana’s Guide to Monster Hunting in March, and the latest addition to the toolset is The Crooked Moon, a folk-horror setting and adventure based on Legends of Avantris’ actual-play series Edge of Midnight. The Crooked Moon earned more than $4 million on Kickstarter in 2023, making it the most successful D&D 5e crowdfunding campaign on the platform to date. Backers received their PDFs in March, and preorders are open now for the D&D Beyond version, which will release on June 16. The Player Options & Campaign Setting book and Monsters & Adventure Campaign cost $39.99 each, or can be bought together for $69.99. The ambitious project includes a 350-page adventure taking characters from levels 1 to 13 in the spooky world of Wickermoor Hollow, where they’ll travel on the Ghostlight Express to face the Crooked Man. The campaign features 85 folklore-inspired monsters and rules for multiphase boss fights with their own minions and terrain.  Players can also embrace the horror with plenty of new subclasses and species. So a ranger can become a Grim Harbringer, a warlock can choose the Horned King as a patron, and you can play a pumpkin-headed Harvestborn or a rat-like Plagueborn. There are also rules for new spells, rituals, and items, plus Fateweaving, a system to bind characters together and link them to folklore. Prefer a physical version of the book? Preorders are available at thecrookedmoon.com, with fulfillment expected this fall, when the books will also be available at retail.

Contrary to the White House's assertions, we consumers are indeed footing the bill for all these tariffs. Companies from across industries have been stopping sales or raising prices over the past month or so, and the chaos continues on. It doesn't help that the actual tariff situation is so volatile. President Donald Trump kept escalating the tariffs against China in particular, all the way up to 145%. Then, the administration made a deal with China to suspend most of the tariffs until August, but some tariffs still remain. As such, companies are scrambling to figure out the best way to protect their bottom lines and shareholder values—part of that strategy involves raising costs.Gaming is no exception to this reality. Many gaming companies manufacture their components in China, which means their devices face tariffs if they ship to the U.S. Here's where the situation currently stands with the biggest gaming companies.MicrosoftXboxes are apparently an appreciating asset. On May 1, Microsoft raised the prices on all Xbox consoles, and some Xbox accessories—including controllers and headsets. These price hikes were actually pretty steep: Both the standard and digital Series X models jumped by $100, while the 2TB model jumped a whopping $130. On April 30, Series X with 2TB of internal storage would have set you back $600. Now, you're out $730.Games aren't wholly exempt here, either, but the news is a bit better: Existing titles will keep the same MSRP they did before the price hikes, while select new titles will cost $80 this holiday season.To be fair, Microsoft doesn't directly attribute the tariffs to these raised prices, instead referring to "market conditions and the rising cost of development." However, seeing as tariffs are the driving force of current market conditions, it seems a safe assumption that Microsoft is recouping some increased costs due to these import fees. SonySony, too, raised the prices on its flagship consoles—but only in select markets. The company increased the price of certain PS5 units in Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The price increases, as well as which console received them, depends on the region: Europe, for example, only saw an increase on the PS5 Digital Edition by €50, while the disc drive PS5 remained the same. Australia and New Zealand, on the other hand, were not so lucky, seeing price increases on both. New Zealand has the highest MSRP for a PS5 on the list at NZD $949.95 (or roughly $560 USD at this time). However, that doesn't mean those of us in the U.S. are safe from PS5 price increases. As reported by The Verge, Sony says that it expects tariffs to cost the company 100 billion yen ($681 million), and is considering both relocating manufacturing to the U.S., as well as raising costs for consumers. Sony is a massive company, so that could involve raising prices on products other than PS5. However, the lack of a definitive answer on which products would be affected means that Sony may raise PS5 prices in the future.NintendoHere's the good news: Nintendo did not raise the MSRP of the Switch 2, nor any of its existing Switch consoles. The Switch 2 will remain $450, or $500 if you buy the Mario Kart World bundle. However, Nintendo has reacted to the tariffs in other ways. First, it paused preorders for the Switch 2 in the U.S. and Canada, "to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions." We already know it ultimately kept the Switch prices the same, but once Nintendo picked a new preorder date, it also announced new price increases for Switch 2 accessories. The Pro Controller is now $15 more than it was, and while the Joy-Con 2 controllers are only $5 more, they now cost an astounding $95. The Switch 2 camera is also $55, when originally it was $50. The rest of the Switch 2 accessories remain the same. PC gamingPC gaming is a more complicated beast than console gaming. Unless you opt for a gaming laptop, you most likely are looking to build your own PC, which requires purchasing a number of parts—many of which are made in China. Luckily computers, phones, and PC cases were exempt from the full 145% tariff, but not other PC components.According to PCMag, most PC parts haven't been hit that hard by tariffs yet—at least when it comes to April prices. The outlet observed that PC cases, processors, and memory kits all had modest increases ($10, $15, and $3, respectively), while a liquid cooler unit actually dropped in price by $60.However, they did find a concerning price increase when it came to one particularly important component: graphics cards. In January, the MSI SHADOW GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card cost $750. In April, it cost $840, a $90 increase. PCMag found a similar trend across other popular graphics cards, with price increases ranging from $250 all the way to $750. Graphics cards had been in hot demand long before Trump was even elected, largely due to their use in processing AI. Increased tariffs are now only putting more pressure on that product category. Gaming laptops largely haven't taken much of a hit yet, but Razer was one of the companies to pause direct sales to the U.S. last month. You can't predict the futureThis is where the market stands now, but there's no telling what will change in the coming days, weeks, and months. Sony could raise PS5 prices in the U.S. tomorrow; Nintendo could decide that the OG Switch needs to cost more now, too. Nothing is certain, but one thing seems reasonable to assume: The prices you see today are the best they're going to be for a while. If you're holding out for the Xbox Series X to drop in cost, or crossing your fingers that Mario Kart World won't actually cost $80 on release, you're probably not going to be happy with the future.Anything's possible, but given where we are with tariffs and global markets, prices only seem to be going up. Remaining the same is perhaps the best we can hope for—unless you're willing to give the secondhand market a try.

Snow White may have earned mixed reviews from viewers and wasn’t quite as successful at the box office as anticipated, but it still managed to become one of the year’s biggest films. By the time you read these words, it’s quite possible that Adorama will be out of stock of the new DJI Mavic 4 Pro. But when I wrote them, the US-based retailer was still selling a drone that wasn’t supposed to go on sale in the US at all, with roughly 70 left in stock.This morning, I wrote how DJI was skipping the US with its most advanced drone yet, citing Trump’s tariffs among other reasons for the decision. DJI did not send the drone to US reviewers, and it wouldn’t provide US prices when we asked.But Adorama and B&H, two rival camera stores based in New York City, apparently didn’t get the message!Today, they both listed the drone for $2,699 — or $3,549 for the Fly More Kit, or $4,649 for the Creator Combo with the fancy new controller with the folding sticks and swiveling 1600-nit screen, or $1,299 for that controller all by its lonesome. B&H even issued a press release.B&H is only offering preorders today; I confirmed with Miguel Perez in the store’s drone department that “we don’t yet have it in stock,” and he wasn’t sure when stock might arrive. “It’s a little bit of a grey area for logistics between the US and China for aircraft,” he admits. But he says B&H isn’t taking anyone’s money — “we don’t charge until it ships” — and that he’s heard other US retailers like Adorama are selling the drone this very week.Adorama sales rep Steve Chill confirms that over the phone, and offers to put one on hold for me, because he says they’re moving fast. “We had a few hundred in stock, now we’re down to 70,” he says. “They’ll be gone tomorrow.”Over the phone, he says he has the $3,549 Fly More Combo right now if I want, though he’s out of the $2,699 base model. Polybius, the debut novel by Collin Armstrong, transports readers to a small town during the golden age of arcade machines. Unfortunately for the citizens of Tasker Bay, the new game at their local arcade is about to wreak havoc on their daily lives. There are surprisingly few novels from major publishers centered around video games, and this one is definitely worth a read. Polybius is a fast-paced and thrilling tale that mixes psychological horror with sci-fi.Amazon is offering a 25% discount on Polybius just two weeks after its release. Andi is a part-time employee of Home Video World, and Ro is a regular at the arcade who crushes on Andi from afar.When Home Video World acquires a new arcade cabinet of unknown origins, players, including Ro, immediately become transfixed by the advanced graphics and gameplay. Though not a gamer herself, Andi is a programmer with experience fixing the machine boards. After observing the obsessive and concerning behavior from Polybius players, she opens the cabinet to learn more about its tech and code. Believing the game is dangerous, Andi and Ro begin searching for the answers they need. All the while, Tasker Bay descends further into madness with each passing day.Polybius does a great job of turning the town of Tasker Bay into a compelling character of its own. Armstrong accomplishes this, in part, by utilizing numerous third-person perspectives beyond Andi and Ro, including Home Video World's sketchy owner, the town doctor (Andi's mom), the sheriff (Ro's dad), and multiple of Andi's and Ro's friends. These subplots are interspersed throughout, giving the novel a panoramic structure that showcases the different ways in which Polybius creates pandemonium.Even as someone who was already well-versed in the Polybius urban legend before reading the novel, the story's strong execution more than makes up for those "spoilers." That said, if you don't know the ins and outs of the urban legend, which dates back at least 25 years, you might as well read the novel without any additional research. I'll leave it at that.Bestselling horror author Richard Chizmar compared Polybius to Stranger Things in a blurb that appears on the dust jacket. After reading all 352 pages in two late-night marathon sessions, I can definitely see the similarities between Tasker Bay and Hawkins. This isn’t going to last (Nintendo) They’re not going to last, but if you’re very quick a big UK retailer has the Nintendo Switch 2 console in stock at the moment, via a range of different bundles. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches worldwide on June 5 but from the first moment pre-orders opened stock hasn’t stayed available anywhere for more than a few minutes. That’s probably not going to change until much later in the year and since there’s never any forewarning, all anyone can really do is keep checking known retailers as often as possible. One of our readers has been doing exactly that and thanks to Mark Matthews we can tell you that as of time of writing Very does have stock of the console and a number of different bundles. As far as we can tell nobody else, including Nintendo themselves, has got new stock in but Very does and has created some unofficial bundles for it. You can’t get the console, or the console and Mario Kart World, alone but the following more expensive variants are currently available: Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World + Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for £494 Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World + Samsung Micro SD Card for £479 Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World + Switch 2 Camera for £479 It’s a lot of money but if you have it they are pretty good deals, because Tears Of The Kingdom is a great game and the SD card and camera are useful accessories, depending on how you intend to use the console. The high cost is no doubt why they’re still available an hour after first being spotted but if they’re gone by the time you read this, apologies for getting your hopes up. When will new stock of Nintendo Switch 2 be available in the UK? It’s hard to tell what will happen with stock of newly launched consoles at the best of times, but given the situation with tariffs in the US it’s especially difficult when it comes to the Switch 2. More Trending Apart from anything, and as Nintendo has already pointed out, tariffs on other non-luxury goods, including food, mean that people in the US are going to have less money than usual to spend on video games this year. Pre-orders are regularly available on eBay but there’s always a risk in trying to buy something where the seller doesn’t physically have the item yet, not to mention the inflated prices. If all goes well then the Switch 2 should be more readily available by Christmas, but the more popular it is the more difficult it is going to be to buy one.
