• Living Large in a Tiny Home: A Cozy Retreat in Bulgaria
    www.home-designing.com
Who says tiny cant be functional, stylish, and endlessly inviting? In the heart of Bulgaria is this beautifully designed tiny home by Rawan Khaledproof that less can truly be more. With a footprint that prioritizes efficiency, this space is tailored for modern living. Whether youre a minimalist, a traveler, or a renter looking for smart design solutions, get inspired by this tiny home in Bulgaria. This (tiny) living room shows us how small spaces can feel open, airy, and stylish, too! The clever spatial planning is paired with a neutral color palette and soft textures. A compact yet expansive sectional takes center stage. Paired with this is a geometric coffee table, which adds visual interest. Its material is smoked and translucent, adding to the airy vibe of the space. The skylight-style windows are large enough to welcome plenty of natural light. Even then, we see a small lamp in the cozy corner, illuminating your favorite book as you read it.Right next to the living space is the kitchen, gently segregated with a light oakwood dining table that also doubles as the kitchen island. This is perfect for two to enjoy an intimate dinner under a conical Japandi-style pendant light. The cabinetry in the kitchen is sleek and hardware-less, adding to the airy vibe. We love the undercabinet lighting adding visual interest as well as functionality. The bedroom is light and airy with a beige color palette. The headboard is tall with a chevron pattern. This guides the eye upwards and creates the illusion of more height. Sleek custom cabinetry is fit right under the loft ceiling, making sure residents can tuck away and organize their essentials. An accent chair and a smoked glass table create a cozy seating area. The bathroom in the tiny house continues the beige color palette. A wall-mounted toilet keeps the floor empty, creating a sense of airiness. Luxury is added to the bathroom interior with a sleek vanity and matte black hardware. The bathroom goes big on organization with the backlit recessed shelving, where bottles and toilet rolls can be placed. Theres also room for closed storage.

  • Surfshark One Review: Impressive Antivirus plus a reliable VPN service
    www.macworld.com
MacworldAt a glanceExpert's RatingProsGood speed and performanceImpressive anti-virus/anti-malware shielding through its real-time protection featureExtensive approach to identity alert and protection, including access to beta toolsConsSubscription price only becomes reasonable on an annual or multi-year contract, not on a month-to-month basisOccasional trouble accessing Google servicesAnnoying pop-up ads asking for app reviewsOur Verdict Its not entirely perfect, and the price point differences between the monthly and annual subscription tiers lead to mild whiplash, but Surfshark One offers a genuinely excellent suite of tools that combine the best of VPN, anti-virus/anti-malware, and privacy-focused identity protection that are worth your Consideration.Price When ReviewedThis value will show the geolocated pricing text for product undefinedBest Pricing TodayIts never easy balancing the engineering and the marketing departments within a company, and a great utility can head out the door at a price thatll make the customer wince. This is somewhat the case with Surfshark One, the combination VPN/anti-malware/alert/private search/identity protection suite from Dutch developer Surfshark. Moving beyond its VPN roots, Surfshark is now working to add additional tools to its package, the software requiring macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later to install and run (it is also compatible with Android and Windows operating systems). The price point, which includes a 30-day money-back guarantee from Surfshark, wanders all over the place, with a 24-month Surfshark Starter plan beginning at $2.19/1.69 per month with three extra months and including VPN and Alternative ID tools for an annual or multi-year subscription, while a 1-month Surfshark Starter plan is $15.45/12.29 per month for the VPN and Alternative ID tools.See how Surfshark One compares to the Best Antivirus for Mac apps weve tested. Where the modules themselves are concerned, Surfshark knows what its doing and isnt afraid to show it. The VPN module includes the usual tools such as geolocation and IP address hiding with more complicated tools such as IP configuration, an Internet kill switch, rotating IP addresses, and Invisible on LAN features. Surfing is as easy as expected, and I was able to easily stream my guilty fix of Canadian reality TV while briskly hopping around to other sites for work. Read about Surfsharks VPN in our round up of the Best Mac VPN and our review of Surfsharks VPN offering. The antivirus tool showed what Surfshark is capable of, and once Id given Surfshark One full access to my hard drive and created a VPN configuration through the installer, Surfshark Ones real-time protection tool was able to catch dozens of my sample malware installers before Id even begun to install them. Efforts to install dozens of chunks of malware were headed off at the pass with the application quickly quarantining them, and while I was able to get a false Adobe Flash Player installation through as well as decompress the occasional malware installer, Surfshark One was able to isolate the vast majority of everything that was thrown at it.Surfshark One had no trouble quarantining dozens of chunks of malware.FoundryPrivacy is the current focus in the computing industry, and Surfshark One offers these tools in spades. The Search feature hooks into a private server if youre worried as to whats being tracked in your search history, and the company goes for broke with its Alternative ID tool, offering you a means of creating a private identity to surf with. This tool allows for a custom name, location, and preview to be created that can also be randomized with a generator function. The Alerts function vies to compete with the big boys, such as Norton and McAfee, and offers email monitoring, credit card monitoring, and ID monitoring with customizable settings to control the frequency at which you receive email updates. The Alerts tool also offers leak reports, email leak reports, and an option to remove all data, which is present as a nuclear option. Surfshark One also offers access to beta identity protection features, which can generate a virtual phone number, manage phone calls, and mask your actual phone number to cut down on data collection. All of this comes with surprisingly few hiccups, and while I occasionally had trouble accessing Google services, this resolved itself, and I was able to continue working normally. The Antivirus tool, albeit excellent, still allowed the occasional malware element through, and this might need to be checked on occasion. The only real point of contention remains the price point, which pushes hard for the user to sign up for an annual or multi-year plan. While Surfshark offers a fairly generous 30-day money-back guarantee and it was easy to get in touch with support contacts through the companys web-based live chat feature, itd be nice to see the companys various departments come to an accord and offer a more balanced month-to-month subscription price as opposed to the wide chasm that currently exists between monthly and annual subscription prices. (To be fair, this pricing structure is pretty standard for VPNs, where settling for a two year option can save money over time, but doesnt allow you to exit the contract.)Should you get Surfshark One?Surfshark One has grown beyond its VPN roots to offer a compelling set of tools that cover the gamut of VPN, privacy, security, alerts, customization, and anti-viral and anti-malware protection that are genuinely compelling. Surfshark offers an excellent package that works well, provides speedy performance, and becomes part of your streaming, entertainment, and work flow. Yes, the price points are a bit disorienting, and Surfshark heartily pushes you towards the annual or multi-year subscription, but its worth looking into the 30-day money-back guarantee and testing it out to see whats there.

  • Apples first foldable iPhone could cost more than the priciest iPad Pro
    www.macworld.com
MacworldThe Apple rumorsphere is suddenly full of foldables. Yesterday we covered the theory that the iPhone 17 Air, if successful, will be followed by folding (and portless) iPhones starting next year. And on the same day, analysts claimed a foldable MacBook-iPad hybrid is in the works on a similar timeframe. After years of standing on the sidelines, Apple seems finally to be ready to join this much-hyped market. But the first folding Apple products, when they arrive, will do so at a cost. In a third foldable-related bombshell dropped Monday, the Barclays analyst Tim Long (via MacRumors) predicted, based on discussions with Asian manufacturers, that the first iPhone Fold will start at an eye-watering $2,300 in the U.S.That might sound implausible, but its very much within the current analyst consensus. Earlier this month Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the price would fall between $2,000 and $2,500, and $2,300 fits neatly inside that ballpark. Its all too plausible, Im afraid.Needless to say, this would make it by far the most expensive iPhone in Apples history, almost doubling the $1,199 starting price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the companys current top-of-the-line flagship model. It would exceed the price of a 13-inch iPad Pro with the maximum 2TB allocation of storage (although not if you sprung for cellular and nano-texture glass), or an M4 Max Mac Studio with Final Cut Pro thrown in for good measure. You could buy at least one and possibly two used VW Beetles. Perhaps most pertinently, it would be considerably more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which retails for $1,600.In future Apples defense, the device should boast a set of specs and features that will go some way to justifying that price tag: in particular a titanium alloy hinge that opens to a creaseless 7.8-inch display, far larger than that of any previous iPhone. However, reports also say it will only have two cameras and use Touch ID instead of Face ID.Long also said the foldable iPhone is likely to launch in late 2026 or early 2027 (while Kuo says mass production in late 2026, which also signifies a launch sometime in 2027), so theres still plenty of time to save up. For all the latest news and rumors on this topic, bookmark our regularly updated folding iPhone superguide.

This is todays edition ofThe Download, our weekday newsletter that provides a daily dose of whats going on in the world of technology. When you might start speaking to robotsLast week, Google made a somewhat surprising announcement. It launched a version of its AI model, Gemini, that can do things not just in the digital realm of chatbots and internet search but out here in the physical world, via robots.Gemini Robotics fuses the power of large language models with spatial reasoning, allowing you to tell a robotic arm to do something like put the grapes in the clear glass bowl. These verbal commands get filtered by the LLM, which identifies intentions from what youre saying and then breaks them down into commands that the robot can carry out.You might be wondering if this means your home or workplace might one day be filled with robots you can bark orders at.
