• An Update About House Of David Season 2 On Amazon Prime Video
    www.forbes.com
House of DavidAmazonIf youve been browsing TV shows on Amazon Prime Video as of late, you may have seen something consistently near the top of the list, despite having essentially zero buzz or online conversation revolving around. But the internet is often not real life. That show is House of David, the first season launching it anywhere from the #4 to #2 show on the platform, behind only Reacher, Amazons megahit, at times. It tells the biblical story of David, where season 1 is set to end with his epic showdown against Goliath where (spoilers, I guess) he kills the giant with a slinged stone. Not sure if thats actually going to be all that epic, come to think of it.The show is a hit, and as such, yes, Amazon has in fact renewed House of David for season 2, something they announced just last week. Given that David goes on to become one of the key figures in the Old Testament after his Goliath encounter, there is plenty more to come. Such as:David rejects attacking King Saul, even as hes being hunted down for his rising popularity among the people.Saul does eventually die and David becomes King of Israel. This leads to Davids big sin of being tempted by the beautiful Bathsheba where he sends her husband out to die on purpose.Eventually, his son Absalom rebels against him, and he faces many, many other challenges from famine to war. When hes old, he declares Solomon his heir.House of DavidAmazonSo, thats uh, how many seasons? Im going to say at least four or five in there. That may seem like a stretch, as could this show actually last this long? Well, look no further than The Chosen, also airing on Amazon, which has now run for four seasons and will be back for a fifth, centering on who else, Jesus Christ. No, you may not hear about these shows in online discourse, but obviously there is a significant Christian population worldwide, especially in the US, and there are barely any actual biblical adaptations, so when there are, if theyre not terrible, they will get a lot of attention. Im guessing the success of House of David and The Chosen may continue to spawn more and more and I mean, how many stories does the Bible have? A few dozen to choose from, potentially.Follow me , and .Pick up my sci-fi novels the and

  • Assassins Creed Shadows Playercount Numbers Are Rolling In
    www.forbes.com
Assassin's Creed ShadowsUbisoftWell, time to start tracking how Assassins Creed Shadows is performing, at least based on the data we have available on the new Ubisoft release. So far, at least, things are looking up.Ubisoft bragged about Shadows getting 1 million players on launch day, and now this morning, they have said that the game has hit 2 million players across all platforms, which has outperformed Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey. Not Valhalla, albeit that was the record-setter for the series. And who knows, theres still time. Previously, insider reporting was that Ubisoft was shooting for at least Odyssey numbers, and it seems likely to hit that.Of course, everyone will have an eye on concurrent Steam numbers. Shadows has 55,000 concurrent players on Steam, which is still climbing as I write this at 9:30 AM ET. It seems possible it will pass Odysseys 62,000 from six years ago, if not today, then tomorrow perhaps. Valhalla is not a good comparison point because unlike Odyssey and Shadows, it launched on Steam a long while after its initial release, so its 15,000 peak is not relevant here. So yes, Shadows is on the verge of being the highest concurrent Steam release for the series. As for console, we only have PS5 data, as Xbox data lags for several days. On PlayStation, Shadows is currently the #2 most-played game in the US behind only MLB The Show 25, but ahead of permanent hits like Fortnite, 2K25, FC 25 and Call of Duty.Top 10PS5Play Puzzles & Games on ForbesThis is all pretty positive so far. Ubisoft wouldnt be throwing out these numbers if theyre werent pleased with them, and from what we can track, yes, this is doing well compared to the rest of the series. If it can pass everything but Valhalla that would be a win (albeit who knows about the overall fate of Ubisoft as a company at this point, regardless of sales). I am, however, reminded of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, a top console seller with 90,000 Steam concurrents but something that ultimately turned out to get just half the numbers EA wanted. So its too early to declare anything about Shadows explicitly just a few days after launch here.Between these numbers and the initial player reception (the game currently has a 4.76 out of 5 stars on PS5, and you dont get much better than that) its hard to find anything even a little bit concerning with the initial launch here. We need longer-tail results, but so far, this seems like what Ubisoft was hoping to see.Follow me , and .Pick up my sci-fi novels the and

  • Surprise Google Pixel update brings up to 60% GPU performance boost
    www.techspot.com
In brief: You don't normally see software updates significantly boosting performance on phones, but it seems that Google is bucking the trend for the Pixel lineup for nearly every model released since 2022. A new update improves GPU benchmarks by up to a whopping 62% on Geekbench a welcome boost considering these devices aren't exactly the reigning champions when it comes to graphics processing. Redditors over at /r/Pixel_Phones have uncovered some impressive Geekbench 6 GPU benchmark scores for Pixel devices. Android Authority's Mishaal Rahman reports that the Google Pixel 7a has seemingly seen the most significant increases up to a whopping 62%, to be specific. Then there's the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9, which experienced boosts of 31% and 32%, respectively.Notably, the performance update isn't limited to Android 16. Rahman notes that his Pixel 6a, which is still on Android 15, also saw a nearly 23% spike in Geekbench 6 GPU benchmarks. It even outperformed the Pixel 9 Pro, scoring an impressive 8,252 points. The real reason for the gains is the introduction of newer GPU drivers. It all sounds rather impressive for a series of phones gamers typically steer clear of due to their lackluster gaming performance, at least compared to the likes of Snapdragon's Adreno GPU.Meanwhile, all Tensor-powered Pixels rely on Arm Mali GPUs. Thankfully, Google seems to have greater control over its self-designed Tensor platform an advantage the company is clearly exploiting to eke out more performance. Most phone manufacturers avoid rolling out significant driver updates to their devices post-launch to avoid stability issues. But Google's leveraging its platform advantage to do just that. // Related StoriesThe question remains whether these Geekbench scores actually translate to real-world miracles. Geekbench is designed to mimic everyday tasks like machine learning and computer vision, but further testing is needed to pinpoint which apps will benefit the most from this update.Rahman notes that apps leveraging the Vulkan graphics API should take greater advantage of the driver improvements. Games should hopefully run faster too.All said, at least Pixel phones have inched a little closer to their Snapdragon-powered rivals in terms of GPU prowess. Maybe if Google had released these updates sooner, the lineup might not have drawn flak for lagging behind rivals in performance.

Rumor mill: As prospective customers wait for Nvidia and AMD to replenish stocks of their newly released graphics cards, rumors suggest that Team Green has delayed its upcoming mainstream models. Furthermore, the reported specs indicate performance similar to that of their direct predecessors, which launched two years ago. According to VideoCardz, Nvidia's board partners have received the final specifications for the upcoming RTX 5060 Ti. Additionally, prior reports indicate that Nvidia has pushed the launches for the 5060 Ti and standard 5060 back by a few weeks. The latest information aligns with earlier posts from prominent leaker "Kopite7Kimi" stating that the RTX 5060 Ti features 4,608 CUDA cores and a 180W TDP. At 2,407 MHz and 2,570 MHz, the base and boost clocks have increased by less than 100 MHz compared to the 4060 Ti. The 5060 Ti will come in 8 GB and 16 GB variants with a 128-bit bus. Also read: Cost Per Frame: Best Value Graphics Cards in Early 2025A roughly complete picture of the GPU's specifications suggests that it might perform slightly faster than the RTX 4060 Ti. Having faster GDDR7 VRAM might help the 5060 Ti punch above its weight in limited scenarios, multi-frame generation could improve motion clarity on high refresh rate monitors, and the card's neural rendering support might prove useful in the future. The same is likely for the standard 5060, but its 8 GB VRAM pool will hold it back, and its clock speeds remain unknown.Nvidia was initially expected to announce the RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 on March 13 and release the two cards in April, but the company has remained silent thus far. According to a now-deleted post on the Board Channels forum, only the 5060 Ti will launch next month with the standard variant slipping into May.The delay could give Nvidia crucial time to amass sufficient stock to avoid the so-called paper launches that have made the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 virtually unattainable. The 5060 Ti and 5060 will likely experience higher demand than the other RTX 50 series GPUs. // Related StoriesNvidia is also likely waiting for AMD to reveal its hand in the mainstream space with the Radeon RX 9060 XT and 9060. Team Red has only confirmed a Q2 2025 release window so far, and little is clear regarding their specs.Prior reports stated that the 9060 XT features 8 GB or 16 GB of 20 Gbps memory on a 128-bit bus and requires a 500W power supply, but it's unclear whether the card uses a cut-down Navi 48 or the full Navi 44 die.

  • George Foreman made way more money from his grills than boxing

George Foreman, who has died aged 76, was a heavyweight boxing world champion and Olympic gold medalist.Out of the ring, Foreman became a household name for a different reason: his namesake grill. He once said he made "much more" than $200 million from the grills, surpassing his boxing career earnings.George Foreman, whose death at the age of 76 was announced on Friday, was first and foremost a heavyweight world champion and Olympic gold medalist who won numerous titles over the course of his long boxing career. But outside the ring, Foreman came to be associated with a game-changing kitchen appliance.First introduced more than 30 years ago, the George Foreman grill officially the George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine became a cultural phenomenon thanks to its innovative design, which introduced fast, smokeless, indoor grilling to health-conscious consumers in the 1990s.Foreman's own impressive physique and affable personality made him the perfect pitchman to sell the grills and sell they did.The grills became synonymous with the boxing star as well as healthy eating The George Foreman grill became a cultural phenomenon and made the former boxer millions. Anthony Harvey/Getty Images Foreman signed an endorsement deal with manufacturers Salton Inc. (later known as Russell Hobbs, Inc., and now merged with Spectrum Brands) for an undisclosed sum in 1994. That's the same year he regained the world heavyweight title at the age of 45.The following year, he began appearing in infomercials promoting the product in which Foreman enthusiastically declared: "It's so good, I put my name on it!"The grills were a hit with consumers, including members of the Trump family, The New York Times reported in 2002 when it described the grill as "the chicest household appliance on the Upper East Side and certainly the trendiest gift item."The worldwide popularity of the George Foreman grill resulted in sales of 100 million units in the 15 years since its launch, according to Foreman's 2009 book, "Knockout Entrepreneur." Several George Foreman grills are on Amazon's best-sellers list even today."No doubt the grill has been more successful," Foreman told The Motley Fool in 2002, adding that "people recognize me more now" as a result of his association with the appliance.Foreman made a fortune in his second career as a product endorserForeman swung a pretty lucrative deal with Salton Inc. for the first few years of sales. Salton CEO Leonhard Dreimann told Bloomberg in 2004 that Foreman was being paid about 40% of the profits from the grills, generating a $4.5 million monthly paycheck at the height of its success.Foreman received an even bigger payout in 1999 when Salton bought the rights to use his name on the product in perpetuity for $127 million in cash and $10 million in stock. Foreman got about 75% of the payout, which was structured as a long-term capital gain to reduce the sellers' tax liability.Coming two years after his retirement from boxing, it set Foreman up financially for the rest of his life.Speaking to the AARP in 2014, Foreman said he made "much more" than $200 million from the grills and was once earning as much as $8 million a month. It's not clear how much he made from boxing, but the biggest payout from his career was the $5 million fee for the "Rumble in the Jungle" against Muhammad Ali in 1974. George Foreman pictured in 1970. Bettmann/Getty Images The George Foreman grill almost didn't happenBefore Salton approached Foreman, the grill endorsement deal was offered to Hulk Hogan. The world would have got the Hulk Hogan grill had the WWE star picked up the phone when a representative from Salton called him in 1994.As Hogan recalled on an episode of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" in 2008, he said he received a voicemail stating that there were two possible endorsement deals he was looking to place: a blender and a grill.Foreman didn't miss his call and opted for the grill, meaning that when Hogan called back he was offered the blender."George got the lean, mean grilling machine, and I got a blender that when you put double-AA batteries in, it would fart and then turn off," he said.

2025-03-22T14:04:01Z Read in app My favorite travel companion is my aunt, who's more than 30 years older than me. zoranm/Getty Images This story is available exclusively to Business Insider subscribers. Become an Insider and start reading now.Have an account? I'm a millennial and my aunt is a boomer. We're great travel companions despite our 33-year age gap.We both prefer slow-paced trips and like to wake up and take breaks around the same times.Traveling together has only brought us closer, and I look forward to planning more trips. My aunt and I might seem like an odd pair of travel buddies since she's 68 and I'm 35 but we've been happily exploring the world together for over a decade. We first discovered our travel compatibility during a family trip to Las Vegas when I was a teen. As our relatives hit the outlet malls and lounged by the pool, we found ourselves naturally drifting away from the group. Turns out, having shared priorities is way more important than being born in the same decade. While we spent quiet mornings together and found activities that would give us lots of time to soak in our surroundings, we realized just how many vacation preferences we shared, including an appreciation for slower-paced travel. We carried these takeaways with us into future trips, and we've been having fun ever since. On vacation, we both embrace travel at a slower pace and take breaks We have been to Paris together and hope to go back. Pascale Gueret/Getty Images When traveling with someone, it's important to be on the same page. For example, my aunt and I like to sleep in on vacation. For us, though, that still means getting up around 7:30 a.m. and out the door by 8:30 a.m. From there, we're not go-go-go most of our travel days start with a relaxing brunch. We usually plan just one or two activities a day instead of trying to "maximize" our time by overloading our itinerary, which feels more common among friends my age. When we visited the Louvre, for example, we stayed from opening until closing, giving ourselves permission to explore every corner of the massive museum.Afternoon breaks are another important part of our trips, and some of our favorite vacation moments have been chatting over snacks about what we'd seen on our travels so far. Oftentimes, we'll also use this break to figure out where we're going for dinner or what we want to do that evening, whether it's visiting a casino or seeing a show. From there, we'll know how late can stay out wherever we are before heading back to our accommodations to prepare for the night. Traveling together has strengthened our bond How lucky am I to have found a great travel companion who also happens to be family? Ashley Couto My aunt and I spend a lot of time together because I live with her, but it's our trips that have truly strengthened our relationship. We just understand each other's pace, both find joy in slower experiences, and share compatible opinions on ideal trip itineraries all important factors when looking for a good travel companion. Some might find it unusual that a millennial chooses to travel with her boomer aunt instead of friends her own age, but for us, it makes perfect sense. Our next adventure will likely take us back to Paris. With my aunt's retirement approaching, we want to make the trip while she's still working and can more easily manage the flight and hotel costs. It's a city that perfectly matches our travel style rich in history, full of museums, and ideal for our leisurely pace.

  • Oregon Man Sues Pet Food Company for Allegedly Killing His Cats With Bird Flu
    gizmodo.com
By Matt Novak Published March 22, 2025 | Comments (0) | File photo of a cat with catnip. Olga Kazanovskaia via Shutterstock A man in Oregon filed a lawsuit against Wild Coast Pet Food this week after his cat died from bird flu. The suit alleges the company misled consumers when it sold raw chicken cat food as healthy, failing to acknowledge potential risks, such as potential death from the consumption of H5N1-infected food. The lawsuit, filed by Tim Hanson, seeks just under $8,000 in damages which covers compensation for veterinarian bills and legal fees, according to KTVB 7 in Oregon. Hanson adopted his cat Kira in 2021 and told the news outlet he typically feeds his cats raw food like the chicken that killed his cat because I believe in the health benefits of it. Its not entirely clear what health benefits Hanson believes can come from raw chicken. Hanson told KTVB 7 he bought the Wild Coast Pet Foods brand cat food in January but one day in early February Kira stopped eating. Hanson told the news outlet he brought her to the vet on Feb. 5 and a few days later tests confirmed Kira had bird flu. Kira was so sick she had to be euthanized on Feb. 9. Wild Coast, which is based in Washington, issued a recall on March 1 for its 16 oz and 24 oz frozen Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula raw pet food for cats. The food was sold in Washington and Oregon. The warning from the recall, which was posted on the FDAs website:People who fed pets the recalled products should watch for symptoms of bird flu in their pets, including fever, lethargy, low appetite, reddened or inflamed eyes, discharge from the eyes and nose, difficulty breathing, and neurological signs like tremors, stiff body movements, seizure, lack of coordination, or blindness. People with pets exhibiting these signs after feeding this product should contact their veterinarian. The spread of bird flu has been devastating for many cat owners, as they seem to be the most susceptible among domestic animals outside birds to H5N1. Many cats from New York to Oregon have been documented to have died from the disease and there are likely many more deaths that are going undetected. No humans in the U.S. have contracted bird flu from eating food, at least as far as health authorities can tell. But it does appear that cats are getting it from the consumption of raw food. U.S. health agencies have tested both milk and beef and it appears both are safe for human consumption even with the presence of bird flu as long as the milk is pasteurized and the beef is cooked to at least medium.Theres also no evidence of human-to-human spread of the bird flu in the U.S. but there is concern a mutation could allow that to happen. There have been 70 cases of H5N1 documented in Americans with one death. Forty-one of those cases have been tied to dairy cattle, 24 have been traced to poultry farms, two cases are from backyard flocks and wild birds, and three cases are still unknown sources. Wild Coast didnt respond to questions emailed Friday. Gizmodo will update this post if we hear back.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like By Ed Cara Published March 17, 2025 Ayurella Horn-Muller, Grist Published March 14, 2025 By Ed Cara Published February 28, 2025 By Matt Novak Published February 27, 2025 By Matt Novak Published February 19, 2025 By Ed Cara Published February 11, 2025
