For users already on the Super model, the performance jump may not feel substantial enough to justify an immediate upgrade, particularly when considering the incremental nature of the uplift.Looking at 1440p gaming performance, the RTX 5070 Ti shows steady improvements over its predecessors, though similar to its 4K results, the uplift over the RTX 4070 Ti Super remains incremental in certain cases, especially in less demanding or well-optimized titles.In Cyberpunk 2077, the RTX 5070 Ti posts a significant performance lead, reaching 124 fps, compared to 95 fps on the 4070 Ti. This marks a 30% increase, highlighting a noticeable upgrade for players aiming for higher frame rates in demanding, graphically intense games.Moving to Forza Horizon 5, an interesting trend appears. The RTX 5070 Ti delivers 168 fps, which is actually lower than the 177 fps posted by the 4070 Ti Super. Compared to the base 4070 Tis 162 fps, the improvement is marginal at bestabout 4%, making it a negligible jump for users already satisfied with their current setup.In Horizon Zero Dawn, the 5070 Ti regains some footing, recording 200 fps, which is around 18% higher than the 4070 Tis 169 fps and roughly 4% better than the 4070 Ti Supers 192 fps. Tools like Neural Radiance Cache and Neural Shaders help predict lighting and material behavior more efficiently, lowering the usual performance cost of ray tracing. In practical terms, games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and F1 24 benefit from steadier frame rates when ray tracing is enabled. However, pairing these improvements with DLSS remains necessary to fully smooth out gameplay, especially at higher resolutions.With the latest series of GPUs, Nvidia also introduced DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, its next generation of AI enhancement technique. Unlike traditional rendering, which computes frames sequentially, Multi Frame Generation leverages transformer-based AI models to predict and generate multiple frames simultaneously. As per Nvidia, this significantly reduces GPU workload while improving frame rates and motion clarity. Integrated into DLSS 4, this feature works alongside DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA) to deliver smoother, higher-quality visuals.DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation is confirmed for over 75 games and applications, however we were limited to just two games Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2. The RTX 5070 Ti demonstrates significant performance enhancements in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2, especially when utilizing DLSS 4s Multi-Frame Generation (MFG) feature. At 1440p resolution, Cyberpunk 2077 achieves 152 fps (frames per second) with DLSS balanced settings. When MFG is enabled, the frame rate surges to 424 fps, marking an approximate 179% increase. Similarly, at 4K resolution, the game runs at 90 fps with DLSS balanced, which jumps to 250 fps with MFG enabled, reflecting a 178% improvement.In Alan Wake 2, the impact of MFG is equally notable. At 1440p, the game operates at 119 fps with DLSS balanced settings. Activating MFG elevates the performance to 340 fps, resulting in an approximate 186% increase. At 4K resolution, the frame rate ascends from 78 fps with DLSS balanced to 215 fps with MFG enabled, indicating a 176% enhancement.While the numbers do look quite impressive, the sheer smoothness is unparalleled, and one can only experience to fully appreciate Nvidias achievement. Having said that, it isnt quite there yet. Nvidia still has work to do and iron out issues like latency, texture filtering and noise reduction. Upon release, the GPU sold out almost instantly, mirroring the supply shortages of its predecessors. Its not worth upgrading from an RTX 4070 Ti or 4070 Ti Super, but for those running older GPUs like the RTX 3070, RTX 2080, or GTX 1080 Ti, its a solid and recommended upgrade with notable performance and efficiency improvements.Gamers targeting high refresh rate 1440p gaming or entry-level 4K gaming will benefit the most, especially if theyre upgrading from older GPUs. Content creators working in AI-assisted workflows or video editing will also see a boost thanks to improved CUDA core performance and DLSS 4 enhancements. If you already own an RTX 4070 Ti, the performance uplift isnt significant enough to warrant an upgrade. The date is not the part that excites me the most, though. According to the leak, Nvidia will require that its add-in channel (AIC) partners will have to offer at least one model at the recommended list price (MSRP) something we desperately need right now. But how long will it last?The scoop comes from HKEPC, a Hong Kong-based publication. According to HKEPC, Nvidia revealed the release dates for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, and the RTX 5060 (which will likely come with 8GB VRAM, although some sources say 12GB). But it seems Samsung has even more ambitious plans in place and is reportedly experimenting with different form factors that go beyond the headset format. According to Korea-based ET News, the company is working on a pair of smart glasses and aims to launch them by the end of the ongoing year. The main processor on Samsungs smart glasses is touted to be Qualcomms Snapdragon AR1 platform, while the secondary processing hub is a chip supplied by NXP. The onboard camera will open the doors for vision-based capabilities, such as scanning QR codes, gesture recognition, and facial identification. The smart glasses will reportedly tip the scales at 150 grams, while the battery size is claimed to be 155 mAh.MetaAn onboard AI will reportedly be their key selling point. Google is currently moving full steam ahead with the development of Android 16. Following the release of a third beta update just over a week ago, Android 16 has reached the platform stability milestone. Though the latest test build is light on feature updates, it brings a cool new trick. On Pixel smartphones, users can now unlock their phone even if the screen is completely dark. First spotted by the folks over at Android Authority, the new Screen-off Fingerprint Unlock feature has been integrated within the phones Security & Privacy dashboard. This had to be done either by waking up the screen with a tap gesture, or by pressing the power button. The new feature is a thoughtful convenience and works flawlessly. It does, however, take a bit of muscle memory to land the thumb right above the fingerprint sensor on an otherwise dark screen. Also worth noting here is the fact that Google wont be the first smartphone maker to offer this convenience. I tried unlocking my OnePlus 13 and Samsung Galaxy S25 without waking up the screen, and it works just fine. Both devices are currently running Android 15, and notably, offer a faster fingerprint unlock experience compared to the Pixel 8, irrespective of whether the screen is on or off. Id like to point out that the screen-off fingerprint unlock system has arrived with a beta build, and Google might remove or delay it when the stable Android 16 update starts rolling out widely in the coming months.For now, your only option to experience it is by enrolling in the Android 16 beta-testing program on a compatible Google Pixel smartphone. Mark Gurman has once more suggested a 2026 release window for the rumored iPhone Fold, adding his own not-insignificant influence to the cascade of other analysts saying the same thing. Maybe the perfect 14-inch laptop, depending on how you want to classify a laptop with a 13.6-inch display. Its incredibly thin, light but not flimsy, and it exudes quality. Just opening and closing the perfectly-designed hinge provides a visceral impression of great manufacturing. At the same time, the Surface Pro 11 is equally well-made. Its also all-metal, it has the best built-in kickstand on any tablet today, and its thin and light enough to be very portable. Snapping on the keyboard makes it a little less thin and light, but it remains on of the easiest laptops to carry around.Both laptops also look great. The MacBook Air has several attractive colors and a very cohesive aesthetic that mimics every MacBook made today is both minimalist and elegant. The Surface Pro 11 also comes in several colors with detachable keyboards to match. Its a simple slate with rounded corners and a simplistic design. Its very attractive as well.The difference, of course, is in their form factor. The MacBook Air is a standard clamshell that will be immediately familiar to most laptop users, while the Surface Pro 11 is a tablet that serves dual functions. According to our reader, its not as great a tablet as it is a laptop, primarily because Windows 11 just doesnt provide the same touch experience as, say, iPadOS. And when connected to its keyboard, the Surface Pro 11 isnt as stable on anything other than a firm surface. So, if you want a normal laptop experience, then the MacBook Air is the better choice. But if you want a tablet with pen capabilities for digital drawing to go with a laptop, then the Surface Pro 11 is for you.The MacBook Airs keyboard is superior, and in fact, Apple Magic Keyboard is really the best laptop keyboard around. The keycaps are perfectly sized, the spacing is excellent, and the switches are light and snappy. For anyone who types a lot, its the best experience. The Surface Pro 11s detachable Surface Pro Flex keyboard, which costs extra, is also very good, with quality switches and a functional, if cramped, layout. But typing on the keyboard has a bit of a bounce when its propped up at an angle. That might bother some people.The MacBook Airs Force Touch haptic touchpad is also the best available on a laptop today. Its very large, perfectly responsive, and has the additional Force Click feature where pressing a little harder invokes additional functionality. The Surface Pro Flex keyboard also has a haptic touchpad that works well, but its quite a bit smaller. Of course, the Surface Tablet 11s display is touch- and pen-enabled, and when mated with the Surface Slim pen, even adds in haptic feedback when writing and drawing on the display. If youre a digital artist, the choice is clear.Connectivity is closely matched. Both have just modern USB-C ports, the MacBook Air with Thunderbolt 4 and the Surface Pro 11 with USB4. Both have proprietary power adapters that keep both ports free when charging. The MacBook Air has a 3.5mm audio jack that the Surface Pro 11 lacks, while the latter has a nanoSIM for optional cellular wireless that the former lacks. And the Surface Pro 11 has more up-to-date wireless connectivity.Finally, the two laptops both have 12MP webcams, while the Surface Pro 11 adds a 10MP rear camera. The MacBook Air benefits from better low-light performance and the Center Stage feature that automatically centers the user when moving around. It also has Desk View that can share a desktop view combined with a picture-in-picture video. The Surface Pro 11 uses its fast Neural Processing Unit for Copilot+ PC AI features, while the MacBook Airs fast Neural Engine doesnt have quite as much use today. Philips Hue might be expanding its lineup to include a smart doorbell if a leak within the Hue iOS app is any indication. The iOS app added an option to install devices with or without a QR code. Choosing the latter option brings up a list of potential devices to install, including something called the Hue Secure doorbell.Thats a pretty solid indicator that Philips Hue has something up its sleeve, although theres yet to be an official announcement about the device. The situation was not too different with the iPhone 16. You see, an added dash of fluidity with screen interactions is a welcome change. It was only a matter of cost-cutting from Apple, until the supply chain brings down the cost of 120Hz panels to such an extent that Apple doesnt feel the pinch on its profit margins. The sadistic glee he takes in causing death and torment shows his true potential in portraying menacing figures following his breakout role in Smile 2. Jacob Batolon also deserves credit for his performance as Roscoe, bringing plenty of comic relief with the sharp quips and perfect timing hes displayed as Ned Leeds in Tom Hollands Spider-Man movies.Paramount Pictures / Paramount PicturesNovocaine presents Nathan as an unconventional superhero thanks to his real-life disorder. While he is immune to pain, he is afraid of hurting himself with the ways he tries to avoid damaging his body by accident. Fortunately, Sherry helps him break out of his shell, with a simple taste of pie helping him live life to the fullest, making for an inspiring and well-rounded journey for his character. Overall, Novocaine makes it impossible not to love and route for Nathan with how he helps whoever he can. Even when hes getting battered around by thugs and bank robbers, he cant but awkwardly apologize and try to play nice.Sherrys character is also noteworthy for how she defies expectations. She couldve been just another superhero movie love interest for Nathan. Instead, Novocaine presents her as a conflicted woman with depression seeking redemption rather than another damsel in distress. With the revelation that she was in on the bank robbery, Novocaine flips the story on its head as Nathan finds himself trying to save a woman who deceived him. Nevertheless, as Sherry tries to do good and save Nathan, Novocaine gives her character agency as she takes the wheel to make this story hers, just as much as it is Nathans.Paramount Pictures / Paramount PicturesTheres no doubt that Novocaine is meticulous with its storytelling. The film exploits every little detail to deliver a surprising and creative film, particularly when it comes to its fight scenes. Taking advantage of his insensitivity to pain, Nathan utilizes everything at his disposal to dish out some inventive kills. Also, Gemma may work with Devon and Ms. Cobel to expose Lumon and reunite with Marks outie.While season 1 showed the innies connecting with their outies, season 2 ended with them severing from each other completely as the innies have chosen to fight for their lives and the people they love inside Lumon. On mobile phones, when it comes to running natively, only a handful of pricey devices with powerful silicon can run the feature suite. Even when implemented at scale on cloud, its a pricey affair.Nvidia may have quietly addressed that challenge in partnership with the folks over at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University. The team created a hybrid AI image generation tool called HART (hybrid autoregressive transformer) that essentially combines two of the most widely used AI image creation techniques. th result is a blazing fast tool with dramatically lower compute requirement.Recommended VideosJust to give you an idea of just how fast it is, I asked it to create an image of a parrot playing a bass guitar. It returned with the following picture in just about a second. I could barely even follow the progress bar. When I pushed the same prompt before Googles Imagen 3 model in Gemini, it took roughly 9-10 seconds on a 200 Mbps internet connection.MIT / HARTA massive breakthroughWhen AI images first started making waves, the diffusion technique was behind it all, powering products such as OpenAIs Dall-E image generator, Googles Imagen, and Stable Diffusion. This method can produce images with an extremely high level of detail. However, it is a multi-step approach to creating AI images, and as a result, it is slow and computationally expensive. The second approach that has recently gained popularity is auto-regressive models, which essentially work in the same fashion as chatbots and generate images using a pixel prediction technique. It is faster, but also a more error-prone method of creating images using AI.On-device demo for HART: Efficient Visual Generation with Hybrid Autoregressive TransformerThe team at MIT fused both methods into a single package called HART. It relies on an autoregression model to predict compressed image assets as a discrete token, while a small diffusion model handles the rest to compensate for the quality loss. The overall approach reduces the number of steps involved from over two dozen to eight steps. The experts behind HART claim that it can generate images that match or exceed the quality of state-of-the-art diffusion models, but do so about nine times faster. HART combines an autoregressive model with a 700 million parameter range and a small diffusion model that can handle 37 million parameters.MIT / HARTSolving the cost-computing crisisInterestingly, this hybrid tool was able to create images that matched the quality of top-shelf models with a 2 billion parameter capacity. Most importantly, HART was able to achieve that milestone at a nine times faster image generation rate, while requiring 31% less computation resources.As per the team, the low-compute approach allows HART to run locally on phones and laptops, which is a huge win. So far, the most popular mass-market products such as ChatGPT and Gemini require an internet connection for image generation as the computing happens in the cloud servers. In the test video, the team showcased it running natively on an MSI laptop with Intels Core series processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card. Thats a combination you can find on a majority of gaming laptops out there, without spending a fortune, while at it.MIT / HARTHART is capable of producing 1:1 aspect ratio images at a respectable 1024 x 1024 pixels resolution. The level of detail in these images is impressive, and so is the stylistic variation and scenery accuracy. During their tests, the team noted that the hybrid AI tool was anywhere between three to six times faster and offered over seven times higher throughput. The future potential is exciting, especially when integrating HARTs image capabilities with language models. In the future, one could interact with a unified vision-language generative model, perhaps by asking it to show the intermediate steps required to assemble a piece of furniture, says the team at MIT. They are already exploring that idea, and even plan to test the HART approach at audio and video generation. You can try it out on MITs web dashboard. Some rough edges Before we dive into the quality debate, do keep in mind that HART is very much a research project that is still in its early stages. On the technical side, there are a few hassles highlighted by the team, such as overheads during the inference and training process.HART / Nadeem SarwarThe challenges can be fixed or overlooked, because they are minor in the bigger scheme of things here. Moreover, considering the sheer benefits HART delivers in terms of computing efficiency, speed, and latency, they might just persist without leading to any major performance issues. In my brief time prompt-testing HART, I was astonished by the pace of image generation. I barely ran into a scenario where the free web tool took more than two seconds to create an image. Even with prompts that span three paragraphs (roughly over 200 words in length), HART was able to create images that adhere tightly to the description.HART / Nadeem SarwarAside from descriptive accuracy, there was plenty of detail in the images. However, HART suffers from the typical failings of an AI image generator tool. It struggles with digits, basic depictions like eating food items, character consistency, and failing at perspective capture. Photorealism in human context is one area where I noticed glaring failures. On a few occasions, it simply got the concept of basic objects wrong, like confusing a ring with a necklace. But overall, those errors were far, few, and fundamentally expected. A healthy bunch of AI tools still cant get that right, despite being out there for a while now. Overall, I am particularly excited by the immense potential of HART. It would be interesting to see whether MIT and Nvidia create a product out of it, or simply adopt the hybrid AI image generation approach in an existing product. Snake Plisskin (Russell) is a former Special Forces operative who has been incarcerated. But now, the government needs his help to save the presidents life following an attack by insurgents. If he can achieve this in 24 hours, hell be pardoned.Escape From New York is a tense ride through 90-minute runtime. Now considered a cult classic, the movie spawned the sequel Escape from L.A. 15 years later, in which Russell reprised his role and Carpenter returned to write and direct.Stream Escape From New York on Amazon Prime Video.Heat (1995)While Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have appeared in many movies together, Heatwas their first major on-screen collaboration. When aspiring journalist Andrea Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) seeks a job there right out of university, she becomes a fish out of water. Its a stepping-stone job, she believes, into real journalism. However, Andy finds herself becoming more like the materialistic and superficial woman she works with, losing a bit of herself each day in the process.The Devil Wears Prada earned plenty of awards and accolades, and both Streep and Hathaway were praised for their performances, along with Emily Blunt as Mirandas senior assistant Emily.
