WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMBeyond the Gadgets: Unlocking the hidden electronics membership perks at Costco & Sam’s ClubTable of Contents Table of Contents Generous return policies Technical support Customer service reputation Warranty options (Standard & Extended) Peace of mind factor Welcome back to another article on the world of warehouse retailers. The idea is that warehouse retailer electronics savings just might be the solution to the economic uncertainty we’re currently facing. Last time we looked at membership electronics savings, detailing what to buy at Costco and Sam’s Club, as well as what you should skip from the favored warehouse stores. But we all know that there’s more to a Costco or Sam’s Club membership than simple savings. You can get gas deals, tire changes, and so forth — many even do their grocery shopping at the stores. But, as we think about how warehouse retailer membership helps electronics purchases, we notice that there are plenty of extras and bonus that help you as an electronics consumer, too. And so, here we present these “hidden” Costco and Sam’s Club electronics membership benefits that can help with with everything from product setup to fixing a broken screen. Earlier, we when compared Costco and Sam’s Club directly, we closely scrutinized both the Costco and Sam’s Club return policy on electronics. To condense the work, the Costco electronics exchange and return policy was deemed to be better, but only slightly. Each lets you return electronics items within 90 days and lets online buyers return via return shipment or in physical store locations. The only major issue comes with returning smartphones. Costco’s policy mentions that unlocked phones are covered by their typical return policy, while carrier-specific phone purchases might have restrictions based on the carrier. Sam’s Club, meanwhile, limits phone returns to 14 days. If you compare these guidelines to the Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon return and exchange policies, you’ll find — generally speaking — that Costco and Sam’s club returns are quite generous and come down on the side of the customer. Costco is known for going above and beyond, however, when it comes to returns. Or, at least, trying to prevent them by keeping you happy. While it does make sense to go with the manufacturer for your technical support needs, not all manufacturers have a technical support number or will necessarily have the kind of snappy response you desire. For select products, you can get help from Costco’s team of technical and warranty services representatives. This isn’t necessarily going to be groundbreaking (you shouldn’t expect them to have tech wizardry skills with offbeat products, for example) but it will create a personalized help environment for the common, confusing issues you may face during the installation and operation of the kinds of common products you buy from the store. Meanwhile, if you shop via Sam’s Club you can get certified technicians to help you connect your devices and get them set up, with specific mentions of TVs, computers, and tablets. It’s important to note, however, that these services are all in conjunction with an Allstate warranty (see below). When we discussed the warehouse club electronics perks and ultimate value of shopping at Costco and Sam’s Club, we also went into their customer service philosophy to some degree. Part of this can already be seen by the two stores’ generous return policies and Costco’s technical support staff, but it goes further than this. Sam’s Club, for instance, has a ‘Scan & Go’ mechanism for their stores to allow you to leave without enduring lines. Costco has a famed food court for in-person shoppers, help for your tech issues, and more. These are companies known for their willingness to help you out on another level. Costco’s electronics warranties include Allstate Protection plans and something called Costco Technical and Warranty Services. This second category gives a warranty directly from Costco for up to two years after the date of purchase or delivery on specific electronics. At this time, TVs, projectors, and most computers are able to be covered. When you combine both the Allstate and the Costco warranties, you can get up to five years of combined extended warranty. That’s a long time for any product, and especially for tech products that many manufacturers might expect you to replace every couple of years. You may have also heard of the Costco Concierge Services, which are made to serve you as a customer long after the purchase has been made. And these interactions can be absolutely delightful for you. In a Reddit thread about experiences with Costco Concierge Services, we’re seeing reports of concierge staff visiting homes to help solve issues and finding out that a troubled TV was so old that they simply got sent another one. It’s not a totally perfect service, however, and sometimes things are simply not covered, but there is care built-in to the service. The Sam’s Club electronics warranty follows a similar pattern. Beyond the satisfaction guarantee and any manufacturer’s guarantee, you can also get an Allstate protection plan. Sam’s Club differs from Costco, however, in that the plans are more varied by product and include tablets. These plans are broken up into “Standard” and “Accident” protection plans. For example, if you buy a TV you can get a five-year standard plan that provides tech support and covers failures from everyday use or power surges. On the other hand, you might get a three-year accident plan on a computer or laptop, which will cover you in incidents such as liquid damages and hard drive failure. Their two-year portable electronics protection plan is notable for its coverage of drops, spills, and cracks that can easily affect even the best-designed tablets. All in all, we think you’re going to find that warehouse stores have surprisingly strong customer-centric policies despite the profit motive reputation that phrases like “warehouse retailer” invokes. And part of that makes a ton of sense. You’re not just getting a membership with Costco or Sam’s Club for a one time shopping frenzy. Well, maybe you are, but that’s not what the companies are hoping for. When you pay for a Costco or Sam’s Club membership, you’re buying a service even if it doesn’t feel like it. Just as there are always new things to watch on Netflix, demonstrating that the service has continued value for you, Costco and Sam’s club are there to provide long-term value. This includes everything from long-term support via customer service to a peace of mind that there is a low risk of problems getting something fixed or replaced if you buy electronics from their warehouses.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 9 ViewsEffettua l'accesso per mettere mi piace, condividere e commentare!

However, this rom-com features the Deadpool actor’s softer side — one with more empathy and compassion. Manhattanite Will Hayes (Reynolds) is currently going through a divorce when his 10-year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin), asks how he met her mother. Joining Carl are actress Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts), Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody), and a small crew. After a violent encounter with the natives, the film crew realizes the real threat is Kong, a 25-foot ape and ape predator on the island. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMThe Hisense U8N scored 4 out of 5 stars in our review — it’s on saleWe keep an eye on Hisense TVs here at Digital Trends, so you can imagine our excitement when we discovered one of the company’s best QLED models of 2024 is on sale this week: Right now, when you purchase the Hisense 65-inch U8N Series 4K ULED, you’ll only pay $948. The full retail price of this TV is $1,148. We tested the Hisense U8N back in May 2024 and reviewer Caleb Denison said, “The Hisense U8N is one of the best TVs of the year — especially if you don’t want to pay OLED prices.” It’s amusing to compare a QLED TV to an OLED TV when talking about contrast levels, but the Hisense U8N delivers inky blacks that are truly that good. While the U8N looks best in a darker room to experience the best local dimming effects, the TV gets bright enough to combat glare and reflections in a well-lit room when watching SDR content. Related The Hisense U8N supports all HDR formats and features HDMI 2.1 connectivity on ports 3 and 4. Thanks to the TV’s native 144Hz refresh rate, Game Mode, and VRR support, the U8N is an excellent choice for console and PC gaming. You can also expect a wide color gamut, with terrific coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Apps, casting, and compatible smart home controls are brought to you by Google TV. Once connected to the internet, you’ll be able to access apps like Netflix and Disney Plus, hundreds of free live TV stations, along with Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast. Save $200 on the Hisense 65-inch U8N Series 4K ULED when you purchase today. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMThis underrated Tom Hanks war movie is getting a sequelTom Hanks returns to the seas in World War II for another battle in the Greyhound sequel. Per Deadline, Hanks will reprise his role as Commander Ernie Krause in the Greyhound sequel for Apple. Aaron Schneider returns to direct from a screenplay penned by Hanks. Gary Goetzman, Hanks’ partner at Playtone, will produce. Recommended Videos The next Greyhound movie will follow Krause and his crew after Normandy as they head to the Pacific Theater to help shift the war in favor of the Allies. Production is expected to start in Sydney, Australia, in January 2026. Related Several cast members are currently negotiating to return, including Stephen Graham, who played Lieutenant Commander Charlie Cole. While the deals have not been finalized, Deadline notes that the expectations are “high” that the main cast will return. In Greyhound, Hanks plays Krause, a Navy veteran who becomes a first-time captain of the USS Keeling, radio call sign “Greyhound.” Greyhound and three other destroyers must escort 37 ships carrying thousands of soldiers through the Black Pit, a treacherous stretch of water leading to England. With no air support and Nazi U-boats lurking, Krause must do whatever it takes to guide these ships across the Atlantic during WWII. The movie was inspired by events during the Battle of the Atlantic. Hanks, who also wrote the screenplay, starred alongside Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, and Elisabeth Shue. Greyhound came at a time when movie theaters were closed during the pandemic. The war movie initially lived at Sony Pictures Releasing under the Columbia Pictures label. Initially slated for a March 2020 theatrical release, Greyhound was delayed multiple times. In May 2020, Apple TV+ acquired distribution rights for around $70 million. Apple TV+ released Greyhound directly to streaming on July 10, 2020. Greyhound became a significant hit for Apple, as it recorded streaming records for the service. While it’s not Saving Private Ryan, Greyhound is an underrated war movie with a stoic Hanks at the center. Time will tell if the high streaming audience returns for the sequel. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMMicrosoft has revealed one of its recent ads uses gen AI — can you tell?In January, Microsoft released a minute-long advert for its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. It currently has 42,000 views on YouTube with 302 comments discussing the hardware — what the comments don’t mention, however, is the AI-generated shots used in the ad. Why? Because no one even realized AI was involved until Microsoft smugly revealed it this week. You can tell the company is proud of this little stunt it’s pulled off because the blog about it begins with a dramatic summary of the history of film and how it has evolved — implying generative AI tools are the next step in this grand evolution. The blog, written by Jay Tan, says the reason the Visual Design team used generative AI for this advert is because they only had one month to plan, film, and edit the entire thing. They used AI tools to draft the script, storyboards, and pitch deck within a couple of days — a process Tan claims would usually take weeks. Related The next part of the process sounds a little bit like torture, however — refining prompts to get the right output. Designers gave natural language descriptions to one AI tool which then transformed them into an effective “prompt format” to use with other AI tools. They went through thousands of different prompts to finally achieve what they wanted — and yet this was apparently quicker in the long run than the traditional methods. In the end, the team thinks it saved “90% of the time and cost it would typically take.” When the deadline is the most important aspect of your project, I suppose you have to do whatever it takes to save time. However, having tried and failed to use generative AI for work myself, I feel acutely sorry for whoever got stuck with the task of refining prompts thousands of times over. I can’t deny, however, that a Microsoft advert is the perfect place to hide AI-generated images. The overly clean, minimal, unlived-in look of the sets and backgrounds Microsoft uses are basically real-life versions of AI-generated images. Everything looks a little too perfect, a little too digitally adjusted, and overall just a little bit “off.” So when I watch the ad now, it’s no surprise to me that viewers just saw the AI content as more of Microsoft’s usual airbrushed imagery. When you look closely, however, you can spot things that look a little odd — a pair of very flat glasses, a suspicious-looking teddy bear, and a few innocuous objects that look okay at a distance but when you zoom in, you can’t really tell what they’re meant to be. But for the most part, it’s not very obvious at all. Naturally, the Design team still used real people for all of the close-up hand shots and used editing software to remove every weird AI artifact and hallucination-produced anomaly so there were no striking “uncanny valley” moments left for viewers to notice. Well done, Microsoft, you tricked us all! Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 20 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMOnePlus 13T: Everything you need to knowTable of Contents Table of Contents OnePlus 13T: global launch date and price OnePlus 13T: design and display OnePlus 13T: specs OnePlus 13T: battery OnePlus 13T: cameras After a long wait filled with leaks and rumors, the OnePlus 13T has officially made its debut in China. It’s a smaller, more compact alternative to the main OnePlus 13 lineup, and despite initial guesses, it’s called the 13T — not the OnePlus 13 Mini. It’s a smaller phone for those that prefer subtle devices over pocket-busters, but that doesn’t mean it lacks power. Unlike devices like the now-defunct iPhone Mini, the OnePlus 13T doesn’t sacrifice power for size. It’s currently only available in China, but there is hope for a global launch. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest handheld from OnePlus. Recommended Videos OnePlus The OnePlus 13T launched in China today, and although a global launch is largely expected, it hasn’t been confirmed. There is no official word on when or if the smaller handheld will make its way to the United States or other markets. That said, OnePlus tends to release its devices globally within a few months of the Chinese launch. Related Without knowing whether the phone will release in other areas, all we can do is guess at the price. That said, its price in China is enticing: just CNY 3,399, which is roughly $470 for the base model. That’s not bad at all, although western pricing could be more due to the ongoing tariffs. OnePlus In terms of overall design, the OnePlus 13T isn’t a drastic departure from the rest of the OnePlus 13 lineup, but there are a few notable changes. The biggest and most surprising is loss of the alert slider. The slider has been a part of the OnePlus brand since the first device launched in 2014, so it’s a big change. Taking its place is a shortcut button that can be programmed to perform specific tasks, suggesting this might be a permanent change for all OnePlus phones going forward. It has a screen size of 6.32 inches versus the 6.82 inches of the OnePlus 13. That’s still large in comparison to other devices (even an iPhone 16 is only 6.1 inches), but it is notably smaller for OnePlus. The phone is also an ounce lighter than the OnePlus 13 at 185 grams. The AMOLED display has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,600 nits peak brightness, and has Crystal Shield Glass to give it an edge against drops and scratches. There’s also an in-display fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock available, so no need to worry about it lacking modern conveniences. OnePlus The OnePlus 13T is literally just a smaller version of the OnePlus 13, at least as far as internal specs are concerned. It has the same 4.32GHz processor, the same 12GB/16GB of RAM, and the same 256GB/512GB internal storage. On this front, the two phones are identical. Battery size is where the compact phone stands out. You might think it would have a smaller battery because of its tinier frame, but the opposite is actually true. It’s powered by a 6,260mAh silicon-carbide battery — bigger than the OnePlus 13’s 6,000mAh battery — and charges at speeds up to 80W through the SuperVOOC charging system. And despite its thin size, OnePlus has somehow managed to cram a 4,400mm square vapor chamber into the phone to help manage temperature, especially if you’re pushing the phone to its limits. The OnePlus 13T doesn’t slouch in terms of cameras, either. It has two 50MP rear lenses, one for the main camera and another for the telephoto camera. It also has a 16MP selfie cam on the front. However, OnePlus hasn’t made mention of Hasselblad tuning, so it isn’t clear whether the cameras are quite on-par with the OnePlus 13. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 21 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMSlate Unveils $20K Electric Truck That Transforms Into an SUVSlate Automotive, a new American EV startup, has just unveiled its first vehicle: a radically minimalist electric truck that can convert into a five-seat SUV. Dubbed the “Blank Slate,” the EV made its debut this week, instantly turning heads not just for its versatility but for its incredibly low price—starting under $20,000 after federal tax incentives. Unlike Tesla and Lucid, which launched with high-priced luxury models, Slate wants to flip the model: start cheap, scale up. Recommended Videos At its core, the Slate Truck is a utilitarian, two-seat electric pickup designed for simplicity and affordability. But what sets it apart is its transformative potential. Thanks to a modular accessory system, the truck can be upgraded over time—including a kit that adds a rear seat, roll cage, airbags, and SUV body panels. This means buyers can start with a minimalist pickup and evolve it into a family-friendly SUV—either themselves or through Slate’s growing network of service partners. Related Customization is central to Slate’s vision. Owners will be able to choose from over 100 accessories at launch, ranging from vinyl wraps and Bluetooth-ready audio systems to larger battery packs and off-road upgrades. The company encourages a DIY approach, offering tools and tutorials through “Slate University” to empower users to modify and maintain their own vehicles. Powering the truck is a 52.7-kWh battery for up to 150 miles of range, or an optional 84.3-kWh pack targeting 240 miles. Fast-charging capabilities and Tesla’s NACS port come standard. The vehicle is rear-wheel-drive and delivers around 200 horsepower—enough for urban commuting and light-duty hauling. What enables the low price is Slate’s stripped-down approach to manufacturing. There’s no paint shop, no stamping, and only one trim level—everything else is modular. The vehicle features steel wheels, crank windows, and a rugged plastic body designed to take a beating and still look good. It’s a rejection of the tech-saturated, high-cost vehicles dominating today’s market. Despite the minimalist specs, Slate isn’t skimping on safety. The truck is engineered to meet top crash test ratings and comes equipped with up to eight airbags, active emergency braking, and forward collision warning. Backing this ambitious approach is significant investor support—including Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. That backing, combined with a simplified production model, positions Slate to scale quickly once production begins in 2026. Reservations are now open for $50 at slate.auto, with deliveries expected in late 2026. Whether Americans are ready for a stripped-down, shape-shifting EV remains to be seen, but Slate’s bet on affordability and customization could make it one of the most disruptive entries in the EV market to date. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COM3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (April 25-27)html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd" Table of Contents Table of Contents The Fallout (2021) Malignant (2021) The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) How about the latest episode of The Last of Us? Talk about a conversation starter. Without spoiling any details, let’s just say it will find a spot among HBO’s long list of shocking moments. On the movie side, Max welcomed the arrival of Companion, a new sci-fi thriller produced by the Barbarian team, to the service. Companion should stay in the top 10 for the foreseeable future. Outside of the most-talked-about movies, three underrated offerings might be worth your time this weekend. Our picks include a moving teen drama, a gory horror, and a psychological nightmare. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Related HBO First-time director Megan Park tackled a heavy-hearted topic, school shootings, in her debut movie, The Fallout. High school student Vada (Jenna Ortega) finds herself in the restroom when a school shooting occurs. Vada hides in the bathroom with fellow classmates Mia (Maddie Ziegler) and Quinton (Niles Fitch). The trio survives, but the school suffers 16 casualties. The Fallout focuses on life after the shooting and how the students, especially Vada, cope with the tragedy. Vada tries to occupy her mind with drugs and sex, but a friendship with Mia and someone to talk with is exactly what the scared teenager needs. The Fallout is a terrific debut for Park, who treats a sensitive topic with such empathy and grace. Stream The Fallout on Max. Warner Bros. Pictures One would think a horror movie with James Wan would generate significant buzz upon its release. However, Malignant was part of “Project Popcorn,” Warner Bros. initiative to release its 2021 theatrical slate simultaneously on Max. Therefore, Malignant never occupied a spot in the cultural discussion at the time. It’s a shame, too, because Malignant is the perfect three-out-of-five-star movie. Annabelle Wallis stars as Madison, an abused woman who suffers a head injury after an argument with her husband. Madison later wakes up in a hospital after experiencing a nightmare where she has visions about murder. Is Madison suffering side effects from her injury, or are these visions predicting the future? Malignant relies on a twist, so it might be less effective upon multiple viewings. Still, it’s a bloody mess from a horror maestro who understands how to craft a story within this genre. Stream Malignant on Max. A24 Be prepared to never look at spaghetti the same way after watching The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, this psychological horror follows Dr. Steven Murphy (Colin Farrell), a cardiovascular surgeon with a wife, Anna (Nicole Kidman), and two children, Kim (Raffey Cassidy) and Bob (Sunny Suljic). One day, Steven meets Martin (Barry Keoghan), a strange teenager who forces his way into the lives of the Murphy family. Eventually, Martin reveals his sinister plan to Steven, which sends the entire family into a tailspin. At times, The Killing of a Sacred Deer is genuinely disturbing. However, it’s an edge-of-your-seat thriller with a dark moral dilemma that keeps the audience guessing. Stream The Killing of a Sacred Deer on Max. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMNASA captures remarkable aerial image of Curiosity driving across MarsNASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has captured what’s believed to be the first orbital image of the Curiosity rover “on the move.” The remarkable photograph, enhanced to bring out the details, clearly shows the tracks created by Curiosity’s six wheels as it rolls across the red planet’s barren landscape, with a tiny speck denoting the rover itself. “NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover has never been camera shy, having been seen in selfies and images taken from space. But on February 28 … Curiosity was captured in what is believed to be the first orbital image of the rover mid-drive across the red planet.” NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which is overseeing the Curiosity mission, said in a post. Recommended Videos The image was taken by the MRO’s HiRISE (High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment) camera, with the tracks calculated to be about 1,050 feet (320 meters) in length. Curiosity is shown close to the base of a steep slope, which JPL says the rover has since ascended. The vehicle, which arrived on Mars in 2012, drives using a combination of remote commands from Earth and onboard autonomy, with JPL engineers working alongside scientists to plan each day’s trek. Related NASA said the tracks will probably remain visible “for months” before martian winds erase them. “They represent roughly 11 drives starting on February 2 as Curiosity trucked along at a top speed of 0.1 mph (0.16 kph) from Gediz Vallis channel on the journey to its next science stop,” JPL said. NASA’s rover has been spending its time studying whether Mars ever had environmental conditions suitable for microbial life. It’s also been gathering data on the planet’s climate and geology, and analyzing the environment in preparation for future crewed missions. MRO orbits Mars at an altitude ranging from about 155 to 196 miles (250 to 315 kilometers), with its primary mission goals to study Mars’ geology and climate, search for signs of water, and support other Mars missions by relaying data and scouting potential landing sites for future missions. Curiosity isn’t the only NASA rover trundling across the martian surface. The more advanced Perseverance rover has been on the red planet since arriving there in a spectacular touchdown — captured on hi-res video — in 2021. On a clear night, you can view Mars up until November. So the next time you spot it, pause for a moment to consider that on that distant planet, NASA has a couple of rovers tootling about, performing science research dreamed up by humans all the way back here on Earth. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMWiim’s tvOS app is another slap at SonosWiim, the wireless audio company that has been making big inroads into a market once dominated by Sonos, quietly launched a version of its Wiim Home app for Apple TV owners earlier this month. Though not groundbreaking by any means, it’s yet another example of how this wireless audio upstart is moving at an incredible speed when compared to its main competitor. Sonos and Wiim have a similar approach when it comes to the mobile apps for iOS and Android that are used to control their respective products. Sonos — despite its horrendously botched redesign that continues to plague owners with issues — has a more sophisticated set of features, but one thing it has never done is develop a version of its app for either tvOS or Android TV. Simon Cohen / Digital Trends What’s even more striking is that none of Sonos’ soundbars that connect to a TV via HDMI ARC, leverage that connection to let you see a now playing screen when you use the soundbar for streaming music instead of TV content. When the company announced its updated flagship, the Sonos Arc Ultra, the press imagery included what looked like a now playing screen, but the company said it was not meant to reflect a feature of the Arc Ultra either at launch, or as a planned update. Recommended Videos Until March 2025, it was fully expected that Sonos would launch its own streaming video device to compete with the Apple TV. Codenamed Pinewood, the device was reportedly going to sport multiple HDMI connections and a lag-free wireless connection to Sonos speakers and soundbars. The device would, it could be assumed, have a full TV interface for controlling Sonos devices. And yet, on March 12, Sonos management informed employees that the product had been removed from the company’s roadmap, with no discussion of when or if it might return. Simon Cohen / Digital Trends The Wiim Home for tvOS takes a simpler approach — at least for now. More than just a giant version of the song info displayed on the front of its Wiim Ultra network music streamer, the app is similar to native tvOS streaming services, like Apple Music or Tidal. It’s a mini player, giving you playback, volume, repeat/shuffle, and scrubbing controls for the currently playing song, as well as a way to switch between Wiim devices on your network. Simon Cohen / Digital Trends You can pick between two different song info screen treatments — a color block or a blurred background based on the album cover display. Related John Darko performed some in-depth testing with the tvOS app and discovered it would display song info on Wiim device, even if he used music sources that didn’t originate from within the Wiim mobile app (like using AirPlay 2 or Tidal Connect). Some bugs were noted: the queue list didn’t populate correctly and the Apple remote’s own play/pause and forward/back buttons couldn’t be used for direct control (you need to use the d-pad to select the relevant on-screen controls). Simon Cohen / Digital Trends Simon Cohen / Digital Trends Wiim says it’s gathering feedback from users on the new app — and has already confirmed an Android TV version is coming — so I wouldn’t be too concerned about these minor issues. Plus, the current feature set may yet evolve. Should the Wiim Home for tvOS app try to emulate every feature from the company’s mobile apps? I don’t think that’s necessary or needed. For most folks, simply being able to use the biggest screen in the house to show what’s playing, is already more than enough reason to download and install the free app. And as for Sonos? Let’s hope it’s taking notes. Lots of notes. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 55 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMMoto Buds Loop preview: the most daring and sparkly headphones we’ve ever seenTable of Contents Table of Contents A crystal, water repellant design Exceptionally lightweight Bose-tuned sound Battery life for days Motorola announced a number of new devices at a launch in New York, but while the new Razr Ultra 2025 is my pick of the bunch, the Moto Buds Loop are impossible to ignore. Taking a design approach very similar to what Huawei offers with its FreeClip earbuds that became available in early 2024, the Moto Buds Loop have an open ear design and they come in two colours, one of which has a very sparkly twist. Recommended Videos Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends The Moto Buds Loop are designed to clip onto the outside of your ear, sit around half way up and look more like a trendy piercing than an earbud. They aren’t the first open ear headphones around, in fact there are plenty with key players including Bose and Shokz both in on the open-ear action. Related Like Huawei’s FreeClip option however, the Buds Loop take a more design-led approach, aiming to embrace being worn rather than opt for a more discreet look like the Bose Ultra Open earbuds. When I say embrace being worn, I really mean it too. The Buds Loop earbuds come in just two colour options but one of those features Swarovski crystals on the loop, resulting in them looking more like a piece of jewellery than earbuds. Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends The French Oak option is the model with the crystals, while the Trekking Green is certainly the more subtle of the two, offered in a deep forest green colour that’s not too dissimilar from the Motorola Razr Ultra’s Pantone Scarab finish – though sadly not an exact match. Whether you pick to stand out with bling or you opt for the Trekking Green however, both options have a water-repellant design so they can handle a little rain. You will need to avoid bathing though. Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends When I picked up the Moto Buds Loop during Motorola’s event, the first thing I noticed was their weight. The figure isn’t detailed on the spec sheets so I can’t tell you how light these earbuds are in terms of ounces, but I can tell you they are noticeably light, and that includes when in their case. That’s necessary of course because wearing something heavy around the part of the ear these are designed for would be incredibly uncomfortable. Motorola said the Buds Loop have been made from a flexible memory metal with a “weightless design” and while I didn’t try them on my own ear, I can attest to their lightness, both the earbuds themselves and the case. The case is pebble-shaped, not too dissimilar from Apple’s AirPods and many of the wireless earbud cases out there, though there are no physical buttons. Apple ditched the physical pairing button on the AirPods 4 when they launched in September 2024 too, though I still find it a little odd not to have any button to force pairing mode if you need to. Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends At the bottom of the case, there is a USB-C port for charging, but otherwise Motorola’s signature “M” logo sits in the middle of the front of the case with the lid opening to reveal the dark green or sparkly gold earbuds inside, and an LED indicator light sits below the “M”. The earbuds themselves are quick and easy to slot into the case – you can only put them in one way like other earbuds, which definitely helps avoid confusion, though even with this, I did pick up one pair where they didn’t sit in the case quite right and required a little fiddling before the lid would close. Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends What’s perhaps the most interesting thing about the Moto Buds Loop, except for how much bling they bring is that their sound is tuned by Bose. It’s not the first time Motorola has partnered with Bose – the company released the Buds+ back in April 2024 and they were generally considered by most reviewers to be a decent pair of budget headphones. Those headphones took the more traditional wireless headphone route however, featuring stems like Apple’s AirPods and Samsung’s most recent Galaxy Buds too, so the Buds Loop will offer what should be a quite different experience to those. The idea – as with all open earbuds is that you can hear your music or call, whilst also being able to hear what is happening around you. Now, just as with the weight and dimensions, apart from the Bose-tuning Motorola hasn’t revealed huge amounts of detail about what’s inside these open ear headphones and listening to them first hand wasn’t an option in the hands on space I experienced them in. Their sound quality will therefore need to wait for a full review but with the Buds+ decent enough for their price, I’d have high hopes given Bose are known for sound quality in their own headphones. Motorola has said there are 12mm ironless drivers on board the Buds Loop, along with dual microphones and a feature called CrystalTalk AI – we see what Moto did there. Funny. Spatial Audio is also supported but that’s as much detail as was offered. Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends When it comes to battery life, this is another element we will have to test properly when we come to review these headphones, but Motorola is claiming the earbuds themselves will have 8 hours of playtime, while the charging case offers 38 hours of playtime. That’s the same as what Motorola touts for its Buds+ and it’s longer than other wireless headphones, with Apple’s AirPods 4 offering 5 hours from the buds and a further 25 hours from the case for a total of 30 hours. The Bose Ultra Open however, claim 7 hours of playtime from the buds and 48 hours of standby time so a little longer than what’s being offered here. Moto Buds Loop Britta O’Boyle / Digital Trends The Moto Buds Loop are said to charge in 60 minutes but the company hasn’t yet detailed whether there is any fast charging support, like 5 minutes of charging for an hour playback, for example. Pricing and availability is also yet to be fully announced, though the Motorola Buds+ were available in North America so it’s expected these crystallised delights will be too. How much it will set you back to add a little sparkle to your ears remains to be seen for now though so watch this space. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 56 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COM4 big battery phones the OnePlus 13T will need to compete withTable of Contents Table of Contents Oppo Find X8 Ultra Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra iPhone 16 Pro Max People always say that big things come in small packages. That may just be the case for the OnePlus 13T, the first T model in the OnePlus phone line in three years. It’s a little smaller than the flagship OnePlus 13 model thanks to its 6.32-inch OLED display and a weight of 185 grams, but OnePlus recently revealed on Chinese social media platform Weibo that it will house (translated) “the world’s first 6,260mAh glacier battery.” That breaks the record held by the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, which had a 6,100mAh battery. A 6,260mAh battery guarantees a longer lifespan — and, in turn, more screen time — for people looking to get their hands on the OnePlus 13T. However, it’s not going to be the only phone on the market with a larger-than-life battery. Other phones that have come before it come pretty close in battery size and energy — the latter of which OnePlus has not given much information of in terms of charging power and speed. Here are four big battery phones that the OnePlus 13T will have to keep up with once it releases. Recommended Videos Nirave Gondhia / Digital Trends Just like the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra edges close to the OnePlus 13T in that it bears a 6,100mAh battery, which pairs remarkably well with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The energy it expends at that size varies day to day, depending on your usage patterns. The battery life can go up to 48 hours, but a considerable amount of screen time and camera usage can leave you with 30 hours of battery life left. Related Its charging speed is incredibly fast. The Oppo Find X8 Ultra gets a full charge in just 36 minutes, but if you’re running low and need a quick charge when you’re out somewhere and only have a wall plug, you’ll get a 24% charge in five minutes and a 62% charge in 15 minutes — all thanks to the 100W SuperVOOC charger. Sadly, you can only get this phone in China. So, if you’re looking to get a Good luck trying to import it to the U.S. Joe Maring / Digital Trends The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is the largest phone in the Google Pixel 9 lineup, with 16GB of RAM and a battery big enough for it to live up to its name, which is 5,060mAh. However, a battery being that large doesn’t necessarily guarantee the best battery life. If you stream a lot of videos, scroll through social media, and play games on the phone, its battery life runs between 15 and 16 hours. But if you don’t do much of anything on it, whether you’re only using it for work or are trying to limit your screen time as much as possible, then it’ll last you about 36 hours. The charging speed is not exactly the best, either. At 37W of wired charging, it takes the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL 30 minutes to charge up to 70% and 90 minutes to reach full charge, depending on the charger you use. It supports up to 12W of wireless charging with Qi compatible chargers, but that’s still not fast enough. Andy Boxall / Digital Trends The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a 5,000mAh battery, which is cutting it pretty close with the first two phones. Its battery life is pretty decent, lasting up to 48 hours with three hours of screen time a day, not including gameplay. However, if you do play games, record video, and use AI programs such as Gemini or ChatGPT, then you’ll run out of juice within 24 hours or less. With up to 45W of wired charging, the Galaxy S25 Ultra takes 65 minutes to get a full charge, 30 minutes to get 75%, and 20 minutes to get 50%. For a battery as big as it is, all of those charging speeds are extremely decent to contend with whether you’re at home or elsewhere and need to charge your phone in a hurry. Christine Romero-Chan / Digital Trends Despite being the biggest phone in the iPhone 16 line, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4,685mAh battery. While that’s not an impressive battery size for an iPhone, let alone a Pro model iPhone, its battery life lasts a full 48 hours with at least five hours of screen time a day, not including gaming. That’s still reliable battery life even by industry standards. Wired charging gives you about 27W to 30W of power, depending on the charger you use. That gives the iPhone 16 Pro Max 30 minutes to get a 50% charge, and 30 minutes longer to get the other half of the battery’s juice. MagSafe charging expends 25W of charging speeds, but charges the phone at pretty much the same amount of time as wired charging. Either way, that’s pretty impressive for a moderately large battery. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMNissan delays price increases until June amid U.S. tariffsNissan buyers, take note: if you’re eyeing a new ride, you might want to make your move before summer. The automaker has announced it won’t raise prices on imported vehicles until at least June 2, giving car shoppers a brief reprieve from the impact of the new 25% U.S. import tariffs. According to a memo sent to U.S. dealers and reported by Automotive News, Nissan is able to hold prices steady thanks to a stockpile of tariff-free vehicles—enough to last nearly three months. But once that inventory runs dry? Prices are likely heading north. Nissan’s U.S. sales chief Vinay Shahani assured dealers that the company is working to “minimize the impact” of tariffs on customers, but he was also frank: “There will be an impact.” Recommended Videos To soften the blow, Nissan is ramping up production at its U.S. plants in Smyrna, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi. Those factories were only running at about half capacity last year, so there’s plenty of room to grow. The Rogue—Nissan’s best-seller—will get a second shift on its assembly line, increasing production by about 60,000 vehicles. Other models like the Pathfinder, Frontier, and Murano will also see higher domestic output. The goal? Build more cars stateside and dodge the tariff altogether. Nissan’s move puts it in line with other automakers holding the line on prices—at least for now. Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda have made similar pledges, while rivals like Ford and Stellantis are rolling out temporary discounts to ease the pain. As Digital Trends noted, Nissan’s decision comes as it rethinks its production and pricing strategy in the face of shifting trade policies and a nervous market. With high-volume imports like the Sentra and Ariya still coming from Mexico and Japan, this pricing grace period might not last long. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMBest builds in Clair Obscur Expedition 33Table of Contents Table of Contents Best Gustave build Best Lune build Best Maelle build Best Sciel build Best Verso build Best Monoco build Throughout your Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 playthrough, you’ll have control over six different party members. Each character has a unique combat style and special skills that you must organize in a certain way to make combat successful. With only six skill slots and a bevy of Pictos and Luminas to choose from, finding the right build for your party members can start to feel like a hefty task. If you’re unsure what the best builds are for each character in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, here are our recommendations based on plenty of gameplay experience. Recommended Videos Sandfall Interactive Best skills Lumiere Assault Overcharge Powerful Marking Shot From Fire Strike Storm The ultimate goal with Gustave is to reach maximum power with his Overcharge ability. You can gain charges each turn by dealing damage, dodging, parrying, and even using certain skills that grant Gustave charges. Skills like Lumiere Assault, Powerful, and Strike Storm give Gustave extra charges, which make them good skills to have. Aside from Powerful, which grants 1-3 allies the Powerful buff for three turns, Lumiere Assault and Strike Storm only give you charges with Critical Hits, so make sure Gustave’s Critical Rate score is high. Related It’s best to unlock Gustave’s Marking Shot skill early on, as you’ll want a party member to be able to apply Mark onto an enemy. Many other party members’ skills have benefits with Marked enemies, so even though it only deals low Lightning damage, it’s good to place a Mark on them so the next attack deals extra damage. You’ll also want at least one healing type of skill on most of your characters, so From Fire works best. It deals three medium weapon damage in three hits, and if the target Burns, Gustave heals himself by 20%. This can play off of either Lune’s or Maelle’s Fire damage skills that apply Burn, and it only costs 4 AP to use. Then, of course, we have Overcharge, which you should wait to use until Gustave has 10/10 Charges. It can Break an enemy, meaning it will Stun them, and even if the enemy is Resistant to Lightning damage, it’s so powerful that it’ll still deal a decent amount of damage. This build is good for both early to late Act 1 and has a balance of skills that cost low AP and high AP. Best Pictos & Luminas As Gustave continues to level up and you unlock more and more Pictos, you’ll be swapping them out quite often. The Pictos that will most often benefit Gustave are the ones that boost his Critical Rate, Defense, and Health. Making Gustave more of a tank can help him stay up in the fight to continue gaining Charges for his Overcharge ability. Also, since many of his skills apply more Charges with Critical Hits, you’ll want his Critical Rate higher than most party members. As for Luminas, you’ll want to think of activating ones that can help that Overcharge ability shine. Here are some Lumina options you should look out for: Breaker: 25% increased Break damage Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn Marking Shots: 20% chance to apply Mark on Free Aim shot First Strike: Play first Attack Lifesteal: Recover 15% Health on Base Attack Critical Moment: 50% increased Critical Chance if Health is below 30% Sandfall Interactive Best skills Immolation Mayhem Healing Light/Rebirth Thermal Transfer Elemental Trick Rockslide Lune is your best party member for dealing elemental damage to the enemy, especially if it’s Fire, Ice, and Earth damage. Even in mid-game fights, I’ve continued to use Immolation since it applies three Burn to the enemy and can apply two more if the target is marked. You can later replace this with Wildfire, which essentially does the same thing but more damage to all enemies. Then there’s Thermal Transfer, which works well with her Fire skills since she deals low Ice damage but gains 4 AP if the target is Burning. As for Earth skills, Rockslide is affordable on AP and has the opportunity to Break the enemy. I use Lune to either heal or revive my party members without Healing/Revive Tints, so I swap between Healing Light to heal and dispel Status Effects and Rebirth, which can revive and heal. Your choice of skill depends on whether you’re going into a fight where you know your party is at risk of death. Elemental Trick is good for figuring out an enemy’s weakness since it deals Ice, Fire, Lightning, and Earth damage, but only if the enemy is weak to any of those four. Mayhem is Lune’s best skill that only costs 3 AP. It consumes all of her Stains to deal high elemental damage, and if she consumes all four Stains, it can break the enemy. It’s a super powerful skill that you should unlock early on, and it’ll come in clutch during all boss fights. Best Pictos & Luminas If you’re using Lune as a healer, you want to choose Pictos that give her high Health or Defense so she can stay alive enough turns to support her party. I’d also recommend you give her a Speed bonus, as it wouldn’t hurt to play more times during combat. Here are the best Luminas you can give Lune: Auto Shell: Apply Shell for 3 turns on battle start Burning Shots: 20% chance to Burn on Free Aim shot Critical Burn: 25% increased Critical Chance on Burning enemies. Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn Energising Start: +1 AP on battle start Staggering Attack: 50% increased Break damage on Base Attack Sandfall Interactive Offensive Switch/Fencer’s Flurry Percée Spark/Rain of Fire Swift Stride Breaking Rules Fleuret Fury When playing as Maelle, you’ll start to play in a certain order of operations to end up dealing the most damage. Start by using a move that puts her in the Offensive Stance, like Offensive Switch or Fencer’s Flurry. The former only costs 1 AP, so it’s a much cheaper option, but later on you can switch it for the latter. These two moves also debuff the enemy with Defenceless. If Lune has already applied Burn to an enemy, you can use Swift Stride to deal damage and switch to her Virtuose Stance for 200% damage, but only if the target Burns. If no one is burning, you can instead use Spark or Rain of Fire to apply Burn. Once you’re in the Virtuose Stance, there are two good options. Percée deals medium Physical damage to one enemy and costs 5 AP, but in this stance, it only costs 2 AP. Or, you can use Fleuret Fury to deal three high Physical damage hits and stay in the Virtuose Stance for another turn. I highly recommend having Breaking Rules as well, especially during one section of Act 1 where a certain enemy will add multiple Shields to itself. This not only deals two hits of low Physical damage, but it destroys all of the target’s Shields. Maelle also gains 1 AP per Shield destroyed. On top of that, if the target is Defenceless, she plays a second turn. Best Pictos & Luminas When Maelle is in the Offensive Stance, she’s more vulnerable to attacks, so giving her Pictos with high Defense is a smart move. In the same vein, it’s smart to give her some extra health so she doesn’t go down right as you get her into the Virtuose Stance. As for Luminas, here are some great options to choose from: Combo Attack: Base Attack has 1 extra hit Critical Burn: 25% increased Critical Chance on Burning enemies. SOS Shell: Apply Shell when falling below 50% Health Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn Dead Energy: +3 AP on killing an enemy Exposing Attack: Base Attack applies Defenceless for 1 turn Sandfall Interactive Sealed Fate Focused Foretell Marking Card Rush Harvest Plentiful Harvest Sciel’s combat is all about applying and consuming Foretell while also getting in her Twilight Mode for the most damage. This means you need a balance of Sun and Moon skills, as well as skills that both apply and consume. Focused Foretell and Marking Card are your two best Sun skills for applying Foretell. While the former normally applies two but applies three additional Foretell if the target starts with none, the latter deals Dark damage, applies three Foretell, and Marks the target. To get into Twilight Mode, you can then use Moon skills like Sealed Fate. This deals high damage in five to seven hits, and each hit consumes one Foretell to deal 200% more damage. On top of that, Critical Hits don’t remove the Foretell. The fact that this move costs 4 AP is a steal. Harvest is good for dealing medium damage while also consuming Foretell to heal Sciel. Plentiful Harvest comes in handy when your other party members are lacking in AP, since it consumes Foretell when attacking the target and gives AP to your party members. Finally, Rush is a good buff move that increases the speed of your party. This means you’ll be able to take more turns. Best Pictos & Luminas Giving Sciel Pictos with Critical Rate boosts works well with Sealed Fate since it increases the chances of Foretell not being consumed. It’s also good for her to have speed boosts, which make her even faster when she applies Rush on the party. These are the Luminas I recommend you give to Sciel: Enfeebling Mark: Marked targets deal 30% less damage Critical Moment: 50% increased Critical Chance if Health is below 30% Dead Energy: +3 AP on killing an enemy Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn Roulette: Every hit has a 50% chance to deal either 50% or 200% of its damage Sweet Kill: Recover 50% Health on killing an enemy Sandfall Interactive Quick Strike Paradigm Shift Marking Shot Assault Zero Perfect Break Powerful Verso’s build relies on you upgrading his rank from D to S while, along the way, using skills that take advantage of each rank. You’ll start on rank D, so use Quick Strike to deal low Physical damage. Although it doesn’t hit hard, being on D tier means it gives you more Perfection. And with more Perfection comes rank climbing. Once you’re at rank C, you can either use Paradigm Shift or Marking Shot. The former deals low Physical damage but gives one to 3 AP back, granting an extra AP on C rank. The latter deals low weapon damage but applies Mark, and increases the damage on C rank. Once you make it to B rank, you can start to deal more damage. Assault Zero hits five times and deals more damage on rank B, while Critical Hits generate additional Perfection. Then there’s Perfect Break, which deals very high Light damage and can Break the enemy. If they break, you surge up to rank S, and at B rank, it costs 5 AP instead of 7. Verso can also boost his teammates with Powerful, which applies the Powerful buff to one to three allies. On rank A, its duration increases to five instead of three turns, but three turns is still long enough. Best Pictos & Luminas Since Verso needs Critical Hits to generate more Perfection with one of his skills, pick Pictos with Critical Rate boosts. Otherwise, picking Health and Defense boosts is a good idea too. Here are some of the Luminas you should apply for Verso: Breaker: 25% increased Break damage Confident: Take 50% less damage, but can’t be Healed Critical Moment: 50% increased Critical Chance if Health is below 30% Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn Energising Start: +1 AP on battle start Enfeebling Mark: Marked targets deal 30% less damage Sandfall Interactive Chalier Combo Hexga Crush Pèlerin Heal Ramasseur Bonk Cultist Blood Cultist Slashes You get Monoco much later in the game compared to the other party members, and his skills work differently since you get new skills whenever you collect a foot from a new enemy type. With this in mind, there are a lot of options for Monoco’s build, so it’s hard to go wrong with it. Chalier Combo is my only Balanced Mask (Red) move here, and it costs the most AP, but once you get enough, you can deal high Physical damage in six hits. There are two Heavy Mask (Green) skills in this build, which are Hexga Crush and Cultist Blood. The former deals medium Earth damage in two hits, and it applies the debuff Defenceless. The latter is used in tandem with another skill on this list, and it sacrifices 90% of Monoco’s health to increase damage to all enemies. After using Cultist Blood, use Cultist Slashes, which is an Agile Mask (Purple) move that deals more damage the less health Monoco has. With barely any health left, he’ll be able to dish out incredible Dark damage. Another Agile Mask move here is Ramasseur Bonk, which deals the weakest damage, but if you’re on that Mask, you can fill 20% of the target’s Break bar to Stun them. Finally, my only Caster Mask (Blue) skill here is Pèlerin Heal, which applies Regen to all allies. If it’s on that Mask, it also Heals allies by 40%. These skills give Monoco a balance of offensive and defensive capabilities. Best Pictos & Luminas Since Monoco sacrifices Health for damage with some of his skills, give him a boost of Health and Defense on his Pictos. This way, he has a better chance of staying alive at such low health. These are the Luminas you should consider giving to Monoco: Breaker: 25% increased Break damage Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn Critical Moment: 50% increased Critical Chance if Health is below 30% At Death’s Door: Deal 50% more damage if Health is below 10% Dead Energy: +3 AP on killing an enemy SOS Power: Apply Powerful when falling below 50% Health Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 71 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMWhere to find and beat a Burgeon in Clair Obscur Expedition 33Table of Contents Table of Contents Where to find a Burgeon How to fight and beat a Burgeon One of the first big bosses you can fight in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are the hulking Burgeons. These creatures are as tall as skyscrapers and can be difficult to fight at the start of the game when you're more under-leveled. Recommended Videos Difficulty Moderate Duration 20 minutes During the first few hours of your game, you'll also likely come across a side quest which asks you to help a small Burgeon become a big one. Whether you like it or not, you'll have to come face-to-face with a Burgeon at some point. Here are some tips on how to beat a Burgeon in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and where you can find them for the side objective. Sandfall Interactive If you come across The Small Burgeon location while perusing the overworld, you'll meet the tiny creature itself. For it to become its normal size, it needs the skin of the same-looking creature, which are the gigantic Burgeons. Step 1: Your first run-in with a Burgeon will likely be in the Flying Waters. At some point you'll make it to a fork in the road that isn't so obvious. Instead of going left toward the lampposts and buildings, make a right through the tall kelp. Sandfall Interactive Step 2: Head down this path and you'll find your way to a Burgeon. I fought this Burgeon before I discovered The Small Burgeon quest, so by that point you may have already fought this guy. Sandfall Interactive Related Step 3: Other than the Flying Waters, you'll come across numerous Burgeons while traversing the overworld. You can choose to initiate combat with them or pass by them, but if you're looking for a fight or for Burgeon Skin, you'll want to start combat with them. Just be careful you're not initiating a fight with a Burgeon that's at a much higher level than you are, so just make sure you're prepared and you go into the fight with the proper Pictos and Luminas. The Burgeon is a unique boss due to the fact that it'll take one of your three party members out of the fight early on. You'll be stuck with two fighters most of the time, so here's how to deal with that. Step 1: At the start of the fight before the Burgeon's first turn, make sure to use any crucial moves that may be inaccessible for most of the fight. I say this because on the Burgeon's turn, it will swallow one of your party members, making them unusable for quite awhile. In this case, it may be wise to use these first few turns to buff or debuff the enemy. That way, when someone inevitably gets swallowed, they may have been able to help in the fight in some way. For example, you should take this time to use Gustave's Powerful skill that applies the Powerful buff to his allies for three turns in case the Burgeon swallows him. Sandfall Interactive Step 2: Once your party member is swallowed, you have to figure out how to synergize your party's moves with only two members. By this, I mean think about how your two characters can help each other. In my first Burgeon encounter, it swallowed Lune, leaving Maelle and Gustave. Maelle has the ability to apply Burn with her Spark ability, which can help her get into the Virtuose Stance if she uses Swift Stride after. Gustave can benefit from this with his From Fire move which not only deals damage, but can heal himself if the target Burns. On the flip side, Gustave can use Marking Shot to Mark the target, and Maelle's Percée move has increased damage to Marked targets. Step 3: You should note that the Burgeon is weak to Lightning damage. Gustave has the best Lightning damage moves at this point, but if he's gone, Lune may have some if you've unlocked them in her skill tree. Your best bet is to have Gustave in play, since your goal here is to deal Lightning damage and Break the enemy. Once you Break the Burgeon and Stun it, it will cough up the swallowed party member. But first, you must use skills that say "Can Break" on them. For kill two birds with one stone, gain enough charges to use Gustave's Overcharge ability to its fullest. This move deals high Lightning damage depending on your Charges built up, and it can Break the enemy. Sandfall Interactive Step 4: The Burgeon has a manageable but annoying move set that can hinder your progress in the fight. One of its moves will spit miasma on you, damaging your party member and inflicting Exhaust on them. This Status Effect prevents your character from gaining AP from any source, which makes it difficult to use any skills that cost a lot of AP. Avoid this by dodging the miasma. Once the Burgeon spits out that green miasma, wait one full second before dodging. This is a slow-moving spit that you'll want to dodge right before it lands on you. In one turn, it can spit out four balls of miasma. Another move it has is a 4-hit combo. First, it will perform a slower body slam on you. Then it'll wind up its arm to then hit you three times with its fist in quick succession. If it's a 5-hit combo instead, the Burgeon will slam its left hand into you two times slowly, then three time in quick succession with its right hand. Sandfall Interactive Step 5: Once you finally Break the Burgeon and Stun it, it will spit out the swallowed party member. The rest of the fight is a lot easier from this point on, and you should be able to take it out pretty quickly after that. Deal as much damage as you can during the time that the Burgeon is Stunned, since he'll have to skip his next turn. Sandfall Interactive Once you defeat any Burgeon, one of your rewards is that Burgeon Skin. Give that to the tiny Nevron in The Small Burgeon area, and you'll receive a reward for your efforts once you wait for it to transform and come back later. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMHow to watch NASA’s first all-female spacewalk since 2023NASA is making final preparations for its first spacewalk since January. It’ll also be the first all-female spacewalk since November 2023 and only the fifth in NASA’s history. Astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers will be participating in the so-called “extravehicular activity (EVA)” on Thursday, May 1. Recommended Videos It’ll be McLain’s third EVA after taking part in two others during a previous ISS stay in 2019. As Ayers only arrived in orbit for the first time last month, this will be her debut spacewalk. Related The pair will exit the station’s Quest airlock for a spacewalk that’s expected to last around six-and-a-half hours. “The NASA duo will install a modification kit on the port side of the station’s truss structure enabling the future installation of the orbiting lab’s seventh rollout solar array,” the space agency said in a recent post. “They will also relocate an antenna that communicates with approaching and departing commercial crew and cargo spacecraft.” McClain and Ayers have been preparing for the EVA by making adjustments to their spacesuits to make sure that the helmets, boots, and arm and leg assemblies all fit together in the proper way. They also powered up and checked the functionality of different parts of the spacesuit, including the glove heaters, data recorders, cameras, and helmet lights. Finally, McClain and Ayers spent some time configuring the tools that they’ll be using during their time outside the station. How to watch NASA will livestream the entirety of the spacewalk on Thursday, May 1. Astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers are expected to exit the ISS at about 8 a.m. ET for an EVA that will last around six-and-a-half hours. McClain can be identified by the spacesuit with the red stripe, while Ayers will be wearing an unmarked spacesuit. You can watch the spacewalk via the NASA+ channel. Alternatively, you can view it via the video player that we’ll embed at the top of this page just as soon as it becomes available. The EVA coverage will include views from multiple cameras attached to the ISS and also to the astronauts themselves. You’ll also be able to hear live commentary explaining the astronauts’ activities, as well as the live feed between the astronauts and NASA officials back on the ground. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMDramatic satellite footage shows dust storm tearing across landscapeStriking footage showing a dust storm sweeping across a part of Mexico has been shared by CIRA (Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere). The dramatic clip, which plays at faster-than-normal speed, shows the enormous cloud of dust moving across the land like a huge wave of water. After watching it, Colorado-based scientist Dakota Smith described the recent weather event as “an all-timer.” The CIMSS Satellite Blog — an educational and informational site operated by the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies — reported on the event last week, explaining how strong winds in the wake of a cold front had lofted areas of dust across parts of southern New Mexico, southwestern Texas and northern Mexico. Recommended Videos “The peak wind gust at El Paso, Texas was 50 kts (58 mph), and blowing dust reduced the visibility to 1/4 mile at Carlsbad, New Mexico,” the report said, adding that “the leading edge of the blowing dust was moving at speeds up to 35 kts across northern Mexico.” The footage was captured by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-18 (GOES-18), which launched to orbit from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in 2022. NOAA debuted the satellite’s first hi-res imagery soon after its deployment. GOES-18 is part of a network of satellites that enable meteorologists to accurately monitor and forecast local weather events that impact public safety, among them thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, fog, flash floods, and — you got it — dust storms. It also detects and monitors environmental hazards, such as wildfires and volcanic eruptions. The GOES-19 satellite was built by Lockheed Martin and cover a vast area that includes the U.S. West Coast, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Central America, and the Pacific Ocean. The advanced technology carried by the GOES-18 satellite enables information on severe weather events to be sent to NOAA’s Satellite Operations Facility in Maryland every 30 seconds, where it can be quickly analyzed. Media outlets like The Weather Channel and AccuWeather also use GOES satellite imagery in their forecasts. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMShould you save $100 on the Wacom Cintiq 16 or splurge for the Wacom Cintiq 16 Pro?If you want to become an artist, you either have to buy a lot of paints, pens, and brushes, or get a great art tablet. And there’s hardly a brand more synonymous with the phrase “art tablet” than Wacom. Today, you can save $100 on the Wacom Cintiq 16 or $147 on the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16, respectively bringing the $650 tablet down to $550 and the $1,600 tablet down to $1,453. That gives you a much better percentage off on the Wacom Cintiq 16, but a few extra dollars total in savings on the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16. Tap the appropriate button below to see the tablets yourself (they’re technically monitors, as they attach to your laptop or desktop computer) or keep reading to see highlights from our review that effectively differentiates the two tablets. Both of the Wacom Cintiq tablets described here connect to another device. On the tablet you draw with a program loaded to the other device, using a pen that measures tilt and pressure to give lifelike art based on your hand movements. Unlike the older Wacom tablets artists first used, there is even a nice screen on the Wacom itself, allowing you to see the progress of the painting or sketch on top of it directly. And this is something our Wacom Cintiq 16 first impressions piece highlights immensely, saying “Your photos will look better on the Cintiq Pro’s 4K screen, but the cheaper Cintiq 16 ultimately gives you the same end result.” Other advantages of the Pro version include only needing to use a USB-C connection (instead of two connections), a wider color gamut, and multi-touch gesture controls. But, remember, the Pro is a “Pro” device, and you’ll likely have a great time (and produce equally great art) with the much more affordable option of the two. But, at the end of the day, they’re both on sale. Related We hope this will make the decision easier for you. Remember, the standard Wacom Cintiq 16 has dropped from $650 to $550 (saving you $100) and the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 has dropped from $1,600 to $1,453 (saving you $147). You can access either art tablet by tapping the buttons below. These deals are probably not going to last forever, however, so be sure to act quickly. Also, if you’ve decided not to go for either tablet, please be sure to check out our listing of the best tablets for drawing (which includes the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16). These are certainly two of the more interesting tablet deals going on today. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 41 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMAnker ‘s new Nebula X1 projector brings big wireless sound to backyard movie nightNebula, the projector sub-brand of Anker, today unveiled the Nebula X1 outdoor smart projector. The triple laser projector boasts a new motorized gimbal-mounted lens with AI-driven auto image setup, a first-of-its-kind liquid cooling system, a new and innovative approach to sound with built-in speakers that can also work with an optional set of wireless satellite speakers that Anker says will bring bigger more immersive sound to movie nights in the backyard. An evolution of Nebula’s popular Cosmos series of outdoor-geared portable projectors, the X1 ramps things up with a 3,500 ANSI lumen laser light engine that delivers a standard-throw 4K image up to a huge 300 inches in size, but its optical zoom means that a 200-inch display can be achieved from as close as 13 to 22 feet away. This combination of brightness, resolution, and image size makes the X1 a pretty versatile for either the backyard or even in your home theater room, as it rivals the specs of many for the latter. Nebula The RGB laser image is driven not only by Nebula’s new all-glass, 14-element lens (the first in a smart projector, apparently), but by its NebulaMaster Image Processing Engine that the company says creates immersive and natural looking images with accurate color that covers 110% of the Rec.2020 space, so your summer screening of the Barbie Movie will be just the shade of pink Greta Gerwig intended. Recommended Videos That processing engine, combined with Dolby Vision HDR support, means tight contrast, bright brights, and dark darks, with a native contrast ratio of 5000:1. And to keep the X1 running cool and quieter than its predecessors, Nebula designed an industry-first liquid cooling system that it says improves heat dissipation by 15%, the projector’s overall size by 30%, and reduces its noise to just 26 decibels to that whirring sound doesn’t drown out your movie. Related Surely, however, those looking for a cuss-word free setup will be interested in the X1’s new lens and plate, which features a cool, swivelling micro-gimbal tech that can tilt ip to a maximum of 25 degrees for optimal placement on your wall or screen. This allows the projector to be placed on the floor, table, or stand mounted removing the need for you to lug it around to find your projection sweet spot. Nebula But you won’t even have you do that. Anker’s puled out all the A.I. stops for the X1 with its new “Spatial Adaptation auto setup procedure,” that Anker explains features “real-time autofocus and keystone correction, auto obstacle avoidance, auto screen fit, auto opticalzoom, ambient light adaptation, and wall color adaptation that can be initiated with a singlebutton push on the included remote control.” Take that. In an early demo video we were shown, the demonstrator puts the X1 on the ground and presses a single button on the unit. The projector image below the demo screen zooms out and then scans up the screen before automatically resizing, correcting, and perfectly fitting the image. The X1 also has a memory feature so it can recall multiple room settings for those moving the projector, say, to and from the backyard and inside. We can’t speak yet as to how well the feature works, but we’re looking forward to trying it out. Saving perhaps the best for last, Anker is doing something pretty unique with the Nebula X1’s sound features, which we all know is often lacking in projectors (we usually recommend getting a soundbar), especially those of the portable nature as it can be hard to pack big, powerful drivers into a compact projector. Nebula The X1 does come equipped with four side-firing speakers and two passive bass radiators in its main body, for a total of 40 watts, so at least there should be some adequate sound for your movie night. But Nebula has also seen fit to design a set of compact and wireless satellite speakers that can be bundled with the X1 or bought separately in a kit for $999. Each speaker features four drivers — dual front-firing speakers, a single up-firing speaker, and a single side-firing driver, for a total output of 160 watts, Anker says. The side and height channels, as well as their power, help to create a bigger more immersive soundstage, and cleverly Anker says that the projector’s speakers can be put into “subwoofer mode” when used with the satellite speakers, creating a 4.1.2 channel audio experience. Nebula The Dolby Audio-capable speakers use Wi-Fi to create their own mesh network (they’re not Bluetooth), have a low latency of 25ms, a 30-meter range, and are capable of lossless quality audio when playing Dolby Audio tracks, Anker says. Additionally, the wireless speakers have a 8-hour playtime on a single charge, and Nebula also has a pair of wireless microphones that can be paired with the X1 to add karaoke to the proceedings. The Nebula X1 runs on the Google TV platform, meaning you’ll have access to all your streaming services (Netflix is already built-in-too),but if you prefer your own streaming device or Blu-ray player there are two HDMI ports, including one eARC. The Nebula X1 retails for $,2,999 and will be available on May 21 on the Nebula website and Amazon. You can get the “backyard accessory pack,” with the wireless satellite speakers, a carrying case, and two wireless microphones, for $999, or as a bundle with the X1 projector for $3,298, in the U.S. until June 20th. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COM3 underrated movies you need to watch in May 2025Table of Contents Table of Contents Friendship (May 9 in theaters) Fight or Flight (May 9 in theaters) The Severed Sun (May 16 in theaters and on digital) April belonged to Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan. Their new horror movie, Sinners, opened to an impressive $48 million domestically, beating out A Minecraft Movie for the top spot. With strong word of mouth and critical acclaim, Sinners could leg out a box office total of over $200 million, an impressive feat for an original horror. May kicks off summer blockbuster season, and first up is Marvel with Thunderbolts*. Tom Cruise races into theaters with Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning three weeks later. Those two films will dominate the May box office. However, smaller movies opening throughout May might pique your interest. Our suggestions include a strange comedy, an airplane action romp, and a folk horror. Recommended Videos When you’re done here, check out the best new movies to stream this week, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Max, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, and the best movies on Disney+. Related SNL really dropped the ball with Tim Robinson. The most famous sketch show fired Robinson as a performer after one season, though he stayed on as a writer for four. Robinson’s cringe and offbeat humor has thrived on Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave. Now, Robinson heads to the big screen in a new comedy, Friendship. A24 has been vague in revealing the plot details, a welcome change from studios spoiling major story decisions in trailers. Craig Waterman (Robinson) is infatuated with his new neighbor, Austin Carmichael (Paul Rudd). Craig tries to form a friendship, but it eventually backfires and threatens to ruin their lives. Early reviews have described it as a 97-minute ITYSL sketch, which, if true, fans are in for a treat. Fight or Flight — John Wick on a plane? Sort of. John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk is involved in Fight or Flight, hence the comparison. All things considered, Bullet Train is the better correlation. Regardless, Fight or Flight plays a comedic action movie with fun sequences and violent hand-to-hand combat. Josh Hartnett stars as Lucas Reyes, a mercenary forced to capture a black hat terrorist. Lucas receives intel that his target will be on a plane. If Lucas brings the terrorist back alive, he will get his life back. Easier said than done, considering the plane is full of assassins looking to kill the terrorist for a bounty. In the best way possible, The Severed Sun looks like a smaller, bloodier version of a Robert Eggers’ movie. In a secluded religious community, Magpie becomes the group’s outcast after killing her abusive husband. Unbeknownst to Magpie, the murder awakens a supernatural creature, the Beast. The Beast then wreaks havoc on the community, leading to a violent witch hunt that causes a schism in the group. The Severed Sun stars Emma Appleton, Lewis Gribben, Toby Stephens, and Barney Harris. It’s a gory folk horror with some serious scares. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 65 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMThis new Mazda EZ-60 will drive on your voice command, even when outside the carMazda has just shown off its new EZ-60 which is so crammed full of smart tech it’ll even listen to your commands from the street corner. And that’s you on the street corner, not the car. Yup, the Mazda EV-60 is actually voice controlled in that you can tell it to park, as you stand outside, and it’ll take care of the parking job for you. Recommended Videos Sure, cars can already park themselves into a space and some even let you control it using the key fob or app. But having your car back itself neatly into a tight space as you simply command it with your voice is a real treat. Related Not to mention very handy if it’s such a tight space that getting out of your door could be a challenge. The tech originality doesn’t stop there though as this also packs in a whopping and eye-watering 26.5-inch 5K screen. That’s backed by smart cabin voice, touch and gesture controls. You can interact with the car using voice and expect to hear it back loud and clear as there is almighty 23-speaker sound system. Also very good for listening to music very loudly and with maximum immersion too, of course. The car drive itself sounds promising too with a full electric of plug-in hybrid options, the later of which offers a 50:50 weight distribution. It’s even rear wheel drive, to add further to the fun of this car. While that all sounds decadent, this will still offer a very economical 373-mile range on full electric or 621-mile in the PHEV version. So what’s the catch? At this stage this has been announced for release in China only. That said, the last time Mazda released its EZ-6 saloon in this way, it soon made it to Europe and gives hope this model too could land further afield. The Mazda EV-60 goes on sale later this month in China. Here’s hoping those voice controlled parking smarts arrive worldwide soon after. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 67 Views

Related The Four Seasons (May 1) Jon Pack / Netflix Tina Fey is back on the small screen in this comedy miniseries adapted from the 1981 movie of the same name. She stars in The Four Seasons alongside an equally talented cast that includes Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte. They are among six friends who travel for a weekend getaway only to learn that one of the couples is splitting up. Now in an awkward situation, these decades-long friends realize that no one is perfect, and having one another in their lives helps get them through. The cast alone is reason enough to check out this eight-episode series, which Fey says she hopes makes audiences feel like “they are inside a big sweater with us.” It might not make the cut among the best comedy shows of all time, but The Four Seasons could be one of the best feel-good series of the year. Stream The Four Seasons on Netflix. Poker Face season 2 (May 8) Peacock It has been more than a two-year wait, but the second season of Poker Face is finally here this month. Natasha Lyonne stars in this Rian Johnson crime comedy-drama that plays like modern-day version of Columbo with a twist. Charlie (Lyonne) has an incredible gift: she can simply look someone in the eye and tell if they’re lying. While it served her well at the casino, Charlie finds herself on the run from bad guys. As she travels across the U.S., Charlie meets new people and gets caught up in a different murder case that she helps solve. Employing the same inverted detective story format that was popular with Columbo, Poker Face’s first season featured episodes with differing themes and an incredible guest cast list and blurred genre lines, from comedy to horror. We expect nothing less of season two, which will feature guest actors like Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Cynthia Erivo, Jason Ritter, Melanie Lynskey, and Giancarlo Esposito. Stream Poker Face on Peacock. Long Way Home season 2 (May 9) Apple TV+ As one of the best series on Apple TV+, Long Way Up follows actor Ewan McGregor on motorcycle adventures. If you loved the adventure show, you’ll be pleased to know that a second season called Long Way Home is finally coming this month. Charley Boorman joins McGregor as the pair travels from Scotland to England on their refurbished vintage motorbikes. Purposely taking the long way, they travel through mesmerizing spots like the North Sea and Arctic Circle. A journey that spans 15 countries and two months, Long Way Home sees the duo explore different cultures along the way. Live vicariously through them as they navigate the streets at top speeds, stopping to meet locals, participate in activities, and dine on delectable eats. Stream Long Way Home on Apple TV+. Love, Death & Robots season 4 (May 15) Netflix You might have thought that Love, Death & Robots was cancelled. Nope. The adult animated anthology series just took an extra-long hiatus, three years to be exact. The fourth season has finally arrived, continuing with the format of a collection of short films, each produced by a different team and featuring a different cast. The series, a reimagining of 1981’s sci-fi movie Heavy Metal, explores different themes in each episode, from sci-fi to horror and even comedy. The stories from the first three seasons included everything from electronic gladiator beast battles to robots exploring a post-apocalyptic Earth to learn how humans once lived. In season four, expect to see alien invasions, mischievous cats, and even vicious dinosaurs at the center of the fantastical stories. Stream Love, Death & Robots on Netflix. Murderbot (May 16) Apple TV+ Gear up for sci-fi and action with Murderbot, which is based on the Martha Wells book series The Murderbot Diaries and stars Alexander Skarsgård as the title character. He’s a security robot that learned to hack, well, himself, to get the capacity for free will. But humans don’t know that. As he embarks on dangerous assignments, Murderbot finds himself fascinated with humans and both their weaknesses and strengths but has to hide his feelings from these creatures. Written, directed, and produced by Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy), Murderbot, an action comedy, also involves Wells as a consulting producer. Will it be as great as Severance? Probably not. But Murderbot sounds like a downright bloody good time. Stream Murderbot on Apple TV+. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 58 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMHubble celebrates it 35th birthday with four gorgeous new imagesThis week sees a very special day for one of the most beloved science instruments on the planet, as the Hubble Space Telescope is celebrating its 35th birthday. Launched on April 24, 1990, the telescope revolutionized our understanding of cosmology through its measurements of the expansion of the universe, and continues to collect invaluable science data and beautiful images to this day. In celebration of 35 years spent in orbit around Earth, the Hubble team has released a set of four new images showing the many types of objects that Hubble can investigate, from planets to nebulae to galaxies. Thanks to a bunch of servicing missions over the years which upgraded the telescope’s instruments, it has continued to provide cutting edge data even as technology has advanced. Recommended Videos According to the European Space Agency, over the years Hubble has made an incredible 1.7 million observations of 55,000 targets, and all of those observations have resulted in 22,000 scientific papers and over 400 terabytes of data. Even now, time on Hubble remains precious and highly in demand, with six times as many science projects requesting time on the telescope than can be provided. Mars (December 2024) NASA, ESA, STScI The first image shows our planetary neighbor Mars, as observed in December last year. You get a great view of the icy cap which covers the northern pole of the planet, as well as the clouds which are gathering in the east on the right hand image. Planetary nebula NGC 2899 NASA, ESA, STScI This stunning object is a planetary nebula, created by strong stellar winds from an epic white dwarf right in its center. With a temperature of nearly 22,000 degree Celsius, this core of a dying star still gives off enough radiation to sculpt the dust and gas around it into the beautiful shapes. Rosette Nebula NASA, ESA, STScI This is another nebula, though a different type as it is composed of gas that has been ionized by many newly born stars. As these stars give off radiation they ionize the hydrogen around them, causing the gas to glow. This star-forming region sees the birth of many new massive stars, some of which give out jets of plasma in impressive displays. Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 5335 NASA, ESA, STScI This striking galaxy has a similar structure to our Milky Way, with its spiral arms and bright bar of stars along the center. Though the spiral arms of our galaxy are clear and well defined, in NGC 5335 the arms are more diffuse, as they are patchy with some areas brightly lit by new star formation which other regions are more empty. Much of the star formation in this galaxy is happening within the bar, which is particularly bright and clear. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 54 Views

He’s held lead roles in hit series like Cagney & Lacey and Alias but is probably best known for his decades of work within the Marvel and DC universes. On the DC side, he starred as Martian Manhunter in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, and later took on the role of M’yrnn J’onzz in Supergirl. For Marvel, he lent his voice to the Black Panther animated series and played Isaiah Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Captain America: Brave New World. With the recent digital release of Brave New World and its upcoming streaming release on Disney+, Digital Trends was able to catch up with the versatile star to chat about his lengthy career in comic book adaptations. Recommended Videos This interview has been edited for length and clarity. Related Digital Trends: Your latest film, Captain America: Brave New World, definitely seems to have undertones about our current society and where we are. Did that excite you when you read the script? Carl Lumbly: Yes, of course. I think that audiences are sometimes underestimated and that it’s possible for them to take in large concepts. I think that just because something is entertaining, that doesn’t mean it isn’t allowed to also generate ideas within you as well. I don’t think watching a movie is passive. I feel like audiences are part of everything they watch. I really credit Marvel, and the comic world in general, for being able to grab your eye and then sneak in stuff for your heart. Speaking of the comic world, your filmography is loaded with comic book adaptations, both from Marvel and DC. Do you ever feel that the two universes have different vibes or energies? Do you prepare for Marvel and DC roles differently? Honestly, not really. I think they’re both playing in the field of fantasy and possibility, and there’s no limits in either universe, from alternate dimensions to other life forms, origin stories, and worlds colliding. I think both DC and Marvel do a great job playing with what’s possible, and because so many comic stories take place in fictional universes, it gives them the ability to play with ideas. And in turn, I think that allows them to say more about the world we’re living in. There’s a freedom to their universes that’s boundless. Marvel/Disney Is that what keeps drawing you back to comic book stories? I feel like with your decades of acting experience, you could be taking any roles you wanted, so I imagine there’s something personal that keeps bringing you back to the world of superheroes. [Laughs] Well, truth be told, I’ll normally go anywhere I’m invited. If I get an opportunity, I’m there. But you know, when I first did Martian Manhunter, I really tried to root that character in real life. I thought about an immigrant because I come from an immigrant family. I know what my mother and father left behind and what they had to create when they got here. I thought about how the character came from Mars to Earth, a planet where he didn’t speak the language and had to learn all the cultures, customs, and systems. He had to find a way to become part of the community. That’s the stuff that really drove me with the character. I could say the same things about Isaiah. He was a young man at the start of his career with the world in front of him, and he made a choice that he thinks will benefit people. But he gets betrayed, and after a tremendous amount of struggle, he survives. All the things I love about comic stories have to do with their unlimited possibilities and how those possibilities help teach us about the world we actually live in. I think it even helps expand our minds. Sure, lots of the things in comics aren’t possible … but they force us to ask the question: If they were possible, what would they look like? Marvel/Disney Speaking of Isaiah, I think he had a good emotional punch in Brave New World because it’s this story of an innocent man essentially being framed and treated horribly for it. How do you prepare for an emotional role like that? Honestly, I just follow the text. When I first auditioned for the role, I didn’t know about Isaiah or the role. Isaiah wasn’t even the name in the script. All I knew was the story. I viewed the character as a witness. It touched me, because he wasn’t trying to say this was horrible and it happened to me and others. He was just saying this is what took place, this is why I am the way I am. And in that acceptance, I felt there was a nobility that all sorts of disadvantaged people hold in real life. If you feel you’re constantly being betrayed, or like you don’t have resources, or that you’re all alone in the world, there has to be something that keeps you human. And I felt that was in the text. I followed the idea of someone who would not allow circumstances to rob him of his humanity. It’s interesting you say that because I felt something similar. By the time we get to Brave New World, Isaiah is … I don’t want to say “jaded” because that isn’t the right word. It feels too petty. But there was this solemnness and understanding of how unfair and cruel people can be. Yeah, I think there’s a degree to which Isaiah has resigned himself to this path he’s on. Buddhists say that we’re all on a path of suffering, and it depends on how you address it that determines how debilitating or uplifting it can be. I think there’s a point in the film where he realizes that he has not been present for something that he has brought into action. He’s shocked and disappointed … but he also has a resignation and acceptance right off the bat. But I found that to be really interesting, because that put him in a place to move forward and see what happens next. That’s where the story gets interesting for me. WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMGhost of Yotei launch date shown in new trailer, and it’s sooner than you thinkAfter a long wait, Sony has finally lifted the veil on Ghost of Yotei’s release date: October 2, 2025. A new story trailer introduces players to the main antagonists, a group of six gang members that Atsu has sworn to hunt down. Called “The Onryo’s List,” Atsu carries it with her everywhere she goes — and uses it to wipe the blood of her enemies from her blade. In the PlayStation Blog post, Sony writes, “It’s been nearly five years since we shipped Ghost of Tsushima, and in that time we’ve been hard at work making Ghost of Yōtei something special. While the stories are unrelated, it’s important to us to make this a worthy follow-up to Jin’s journey, and we can’t wait for you to experience Atsu’s quest for vengeance later this year.” Recommended Videos Ghost of Yotei maintains the gorgeous visuals of the first title, with sweeping views of the Japanese countryside and incredibly detailed reproductions of its architecture during that time period. And like Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei follows a classic samurai-movie-esque plot that will make you feel like you’re playing through an Akira Kurosawa film. Sony Preorders for the game start on May 2 at 10 AM ET. Sony offers multiple editions of the game, but all versions will come with a set of PSN avatars and an exclusive in-game mask. Ghost of Yotei retails at $70, while the Deluxe Digital Edition is $80 and includes several in-game cosmetics and a set of maps that help you unlock abilities a little bit faster. Related And if you opt to buy the game digitally, there’s a physical collector’s edition that includes a replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask. It measures 6.8 x 5 x 5.9 inches, and is to scale with the collector’s mask from Ghost of Tsushima. It also comes with Atsu’s tsuba (her katana handguard) and several other items, but pricing will be announced at a later date. Editors’ Recommendations0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 66 Views

WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COMGoogle Pixel 10: Everything you need to knowTable of Contents Table of Contents Google Pixel 10: Design and display Google Pixel 10: Camera Google Pixel 10: Battery and charging Google Pixel 10: Release date and pricing The Google Pixel 9 has been enjoying its time in the sun for the last eight months thanks to its stunning cameras, spectacular battery life, spontaneous use of Gemini AI, and a gorgeous matte finish that is on par with the iPhone 16. Summer is coming around the corner, and along with that comes release of the Google Pixel 10. Though there has been no formal announcement of the upcoming model, preliminary reports and leaks have been speculating how it will look and function compared to the current iteration. Here’s everything you need to know about the Pixel 10. Android Headlines / OnLeaks The Google Pixel 10 will have some slight hardware upgrades from the Pixel 9. One of those upgrades is, reportedly, embedding the Tensor G5 processor into the phone, enabling it to match the iPhone in performance compared to the Tensor G4 chip. Basically, the Tensor G5 chip will rely on an eight CPU cores to run tasks of varying sizes — one Arm Cortex-X4 processing core for heavy-duty tasks, two Cortex-A520 cores for lighter tasks, and five Cortex-A725 cores for medium-intensity programs. Recommended Videos On the outside, the Pixel 10 will have a 6.3-inch display complete with an OLED panel that boasts an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It will also have more or less the same chassis build and matte glass finish on the back as its predecessor. Specifically, it might have the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which will make the phone simultaneously soft to the touch and extremely fragile. The metal chassis will still have a satin finish, giving you an easier time keeping a tight grip on your phone — a grip that will be more enhanced if you put a case on it. Related Software-wise, the phone will launch with Pixel Sense, the most advanced AI assistant on Google devices yet. Pixel Sense (nicknamed “Pixie” prior to its announcement earlier this year) will run on Gemini Nano, the compact version of Google Gemini, pull and collate data from various apps, text messages, images, and other media files, and provide contextual predictions based on how you use Pixel. It will answer questions about your personal data, but those answers won’t be sent to Google’s servers. In other words, your secrets are safe inside the phone. Android Headlines / OnLeaks The cameras for the Google Pixel 10 will retain the pill-shaped module that was introduced to the Pixel 9, so the design won’t change as much. However, the Pixel 10 will reportedly have a dedicated telephoto camera for the first time, which will deliver 11 megapixels of zoomed-in photos. Despite the telephoto lens bringing the base model phone in line with the Pro models, the upgrade comes at the expense of the other cameras. The ultrawide camera will be 13MP, while the selfie camera will be 11MP. However, the main camera will still be 50MP, although it’ll be upgraded to the Samsung GN8 sensor, which was present in the Pixel 9a. In contrast, the ultrawide camera on the Pixel 9 is 48MP, while the selfie camera is 10.5MP. The selfie camera gets upgraded just a smidge on the Pixel 10, but the quality of the other cameras will suffer tremendously for it. If Google wants to make sure the addition of the telephoto lens to the base model is worth the upgrade, it should add the 8x Super Res Zoom to the camera as well. Digital Trends Now on to the important part of the Pixel 10: battery life and charging speeds. There’s not much information about battery size or life span yet, but rumors say that it may have a 4,700 mAh battery just like the Pixel 9 or larger, going up to 5,000 mAh. At any of those sizes, the battery will have enough juice to let the Pixel run for 24 hours, or up to 100 hours in Extreme Battery Saver Mode, which sounds unrealistic considering the battery goes down fast from obscene screen time, try as we might to save power. There isn’t much to say about the Pixel 10’s charging speed, either. However, if it is anything like the Pixel 9, it may support 45W of fast charging, charging the battery up to 55% in 30 minutes. Android Headlines / OnLeaks The Google Pixel 10 has a release window for August 2025. That means it arrive at the same time as the Pixel 9 did last year, of not a couple months into fall. The Pixel 10 may also sell at $800, assuming tariffs don’t make it more expensive. Even without tariffs on materials used to develop the phone, the Tensor G5 chip — not to mention the camera getting the telephoto lens — may give Google a reason to raise the price up to $100 from the Pixel 9.
