• Mark Cuban suggests filling all your storage space with 'lots of consumables' from big box stores after Trump's tariff announcement

President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on over 180 countries."Shark Tank" star Mark Cuban said people should "buy lots of consumables" now before prices go up.Cuban said retailers will raise prices and "blame it on tariffs" even if their goods are US made.Mark Cuban has a suggestion for Americans: "Buy lots of consumables now."Cuban made a post on Bluesky on Wednesday shortly after President Donald Trump announced sweeping tariffs that would hit more than 180 countries:"It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory," Cuban wrote."Even if it's made in the USA, they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs," Cuban added.Cuban declined to comment further when approached by Business Insider. On Wednesday, Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on all countries that have imposed tariffs on US goods. The tariffs, which Trump said will start at a baseline rate of 10%, will affect 185 countries."April 2, 2025, will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn, the day America's destiny was reclaimed, and the day that we began to make America wealthy again," Trump said. While companies might absorb some of the cost increases from tariffs, American consumers are likely to see higher prices on items like cars and groceries.Last month, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told reporters that "a good part" of the Fed's rising inflation forecast stems from Trump's tariff plans.Experts BI spoke to, however, said Cuban's concerns that tariffs would raise prices are valid but panic buying may hurt supply chains and cause prices to go up, too."Just as I said during COVID, no one should be panic-buying toilet paper and Clorox, and no one should be doing that now," Margaret Kidd, an associate professor of supply chain and logistics technology at the University of Houston, told BI.Kidd said consumers need to be "conservative with our resources" since price increases are "happening across the board.""We don't know how this is going to play out," Kidd said.Chris Tang, a UCLA professor and expert in global supply chain management, told BI that Cuban's suggestion could result in "bigger problems.""This kind of shift in demand would actually exacerbate this price increase. If the demand is more stable, then the price is more stable. If everyone starts stocking up toothpaste and toilet paper, the prices go higher," Tang said.To be sure, this isn't the first time Cuban has been critical of Trump's tariff policies. The "Shark Tank" star endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign last year, calling her a "pro-business" candidate. In September, Trump said he would impose a 200% tariff on John Deere if the agriculture equipment company moved its manufacturing to Mexico."This Lack of Understanding of Business is insane," Cuban wrote in an X post then.Imposing higher tariffs on American companies than their Chinese counterparts meant that "Chinese products will be cheaper to sell in the US than the American company," Cuban added."Good way to destroy a legendary American company and increase costs to American buyers," Cuban wrote. The White House did not respond to a request for comment from BI.Recommended video

  • Games Inbox: Nintendo Switch 2 Direct fan verdict
    metro.co.uk
The Direct was definitely good for Moo Moo Farm fans (Nintendo)The Thursday letters page is impressed by Mario Kart World on Nintendo Switch 2, as readers are concerned about game prices on the new console. To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@metro.co.ukHigh-end showcaseSome quick reactions to the Switch 2 reveal:Mario Kart World looks very nice and definitely couldnt run on the Switch. Looks like Nintendo are going to push it as a social game, especially with the C button screen sharing, etc. Im not personally that interested in that aspect, but it looks quite good.Surprised that the Welcome Tour has to be paid for separately? Maybe the mini-games are fun but otherwise Ill give it a miss.Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 2 looks very impressive. I note that they left it out of the list of upgrades, i.e. you cant buy it for Switch 1 and then upgrade to Switch 2, at least not at launch. I guess thats to push Switch 2 buyers to buy the Switch 2 edition.GameCube games on Nintendo Switch Online from day one is definitely a plus for me: The Wind Waker at the very least will keep me going.Lots of third party support; I need to check back later on whats coming out at launch. Ive been holding out on playing Cyberpunk 2077 to see if a Switch 2 edition would come out, as its a lot more convenient for me than on home console, so thatll do me nicely. The new FromSoftware game looks like it runs better than Elden Ring, which can hardly be right looks very interesting though. The console price is pretty reasonable I think its quite a bit less than the official price of the PlayStation 5 (the current Astro Bot deal notwithstanding)? By comparison, the original Switch was a bit more expensive than PlayStation 4 was at the time, if I recall correctly. The game prices are by contrast pretty steep and Im surprised that Nintendo are offering digital at a discount to physical, which theyve never done before. What that means is that those game cards must be pretty expensive hopefully the loading times make it worth it. Personally, I think Ill be waiting for the digital sales for a lot of these games.Overall, this was at the higher end of my expectations for the Direct, wonder what other people thought?MickahSwitch 2 awakensWell, that was an underwhelming presentation. Graphically I felt it a major letdown, with very poor water splashes seen in Mario Kart. My fault in part, as Id hoped for a Matrix Awakens level of graphics but those reports around PlayStation 4 level look to be spot on.Then those insane prices. Oh and the Welcome Tour game (also known as an instruction manual) which you have to buy I think that C button stands for cash, as youll need a lot of it for this system. Dont get me wrong I love Nintendo, but Ill wait five years for an updated version and hopefully better and cheaper software.RobShifting opinionsThe Nintendo Switch 2 reveal.A refined version of the Switch and thats a good thing.Mario Kart World looks like fun but not exactly a system seller in my opinion and halfway through the trailer I thought I wont get one at launch, Ill wait awhile. Then FromSoftware appeared on screen. The Duskbloods, exclusive to the Switch 2.I had a sudden change of mind then saw its out next year.TL;DR. Ill buy one next year. It looks a good console.Chevy MalibuKinect V2So the Switch 2 C button is for chat. All those predictions of what it might be for and its a very simple idea, now we know what it is.Controllers as a mouse and upgraded games if you pay extra for what you already own (same as Sony did for the PlayStation 5 games)And they are bringing out a camera that puts you in the game and control your movement and voice in the game. We all know how Kinect turned out for Microsoft and the eye camera for the Playstation.Dont get me wrong Im a huge Nintendo fan, but nothing made me go wow, I really need this. Recycled ideas that hopefully work out better than the first time around.Cassius2KWelcome home, good hunterThat Mario Kart looks absolutely amazing but that looked like Bloodborne 2 (unofficial)! If Sony arent interested then Nintendo will be and suddenly I feel the need to clear my credit card ready for June.Just to add: I wasnt the only one, from reading through some of the comments, that said how the thing basically crashed around Cyberpunk and was showing a different game! Also, Donkey Kong looked fantastic and Im glad it looked like there are platform levels in the game.SimonEmail your comments to: gamecentral@metro.co.ukSega+ DirectI hope Im wrong, but it seems like a decent chunk of Sega games seem to be leaving Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium in recent months. I am going to make a wild prediction that Sega is going to announce their own subscription service.Maybe this will coincide with being available on the Switch 2 as well? Seeing that GameCube games are being predicted on the Switch 2, and these would be an upgrade on the NES, SNES and N64 games on the original Switch, there are already Mega Drive games on the Switch, so maybe Sega will do something similar.I look forwards to the Switch 2 part of this prediction being proved wrong by the time people read thisbut I like to think the Xbox and PlayStation 5 versions could potentially happen, given Segas (quite surprising) decent library of games. Thoughts GC?NatorDomGC: Its a plausible idea, but we think Yakuza 0: Directors Cut was the only Sega game in the Direct.Go berserk for itI was extremely surprised by just how awesome The First Berserker: Khazan is. If, like me, you hadnt heard of this game until a week or so ago, its basically a hybrid Souls/ Sekiro/Nioh game.Everything about it is superb: the enemies, customisation, difficulty, gear sets, build options. The best part though is the combat which is so good. All the bosses are challenging but doable. And the level design is quite linear but I actually like the gauntlet style after a 250+ Elden Ring run including the DLC exploring every nook, it is nice just to have a high level of action throughout (although there are secrets to unlock and find).I was also impressed with the price. Via CD Keys I got the deluxe edition for 47! That is very good value these days, for a highly polished game devoid of microtransactions and bugs. I imagine Ill easily get 100+ hours out of it.Would strongly recommend it anyway!TomGC: Its derivative but we really liked it too.Hardware bundleI watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Switch 2 presentation. I had even set my alarm to it.Mario Kart World looks amazing (and similar to Forza Horizon 2, where you have to drive from race to race yourself).I was hoping for a reveal of a new 2D Mario but came to accept we had had enough in the new Kart game for now.As the price of the console wasnt revealed in the presentation, I got it from GameCentral and the 395.99 isnt too bad.I did personally say in the Underbox (before the comments section disappeared) itd be 399.Its the apparent pricing of the games that concerns me.74.99 (for Mario Kart World) is quite a jump from the Switch1s 49.99 and though I can afford it, I dont think I can justify it with my wallet.Second-hand will see prices still high at about 60 to 65.Ill keep an eye on these game prices to see if people disagree about paying that much. For now, Ill work on my Switch 1 backlog.LeighDappaPS: The Switch 2 game cards are red. How cool is that?GC: Its only the physical edition thats 75. You can get the digital edition for just 34 if you buy it with the console.Turtle-y worth itRE: Hubert and his wondering about the longevity of modern retro scrolling beat em-ups. Having played Streets Of Rage 4 and actually owning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge, I would say, as a fan of this genre and as a fan of the Ninja Turtles, that these games should hold your interest. TMNT particularly, because I actually have it, I can say you get four turtles, Master Splinter, April O Neil, Casey Jones and the Samurai Bunny from the Edo dimension. So eight characters to play as and Mona Lisa and Mondo Gecko as more paid-for DLC, if ya want even more. They each have 10 levels to hack, slash, spin, and hover up to, each level unlocking new super moves to snash the Foot with, as well as new skins and probably more besides, awesome boss fights and crucially that just one more go gameplay hook.Compared to the old arcade version, Turtles In Time, which I played very recently and the assortment of attacks, special moves, throws, rolls/slides and jump and float attacks is a massive step up. The old one had literally three attacks, (attack, jump attack, and a two button jump-swipe). They can of course be played online, but you would likely need to find a dedicated group to arrange something. But, of course, if you had guests, especially with kids, then theyll love it.big boy bentMoo Moo Switch tooNo dual screen options is sad and a separate camera is a weird choice. Nintendo expecting people to pay for the Welcome Tour is a massive miss by them.Little more than a tech demo and should have been included. Also, a cow on a bike was not on my bingo card. Who knew.SolaboundHalf rightWell, I got some of those predictions right (letters page prior to the launch event). Not that they were especially out there. But Nintendo does seem to be fully leaning into the ecosystem model, as testified by the showcase of special editions, GameCube (including F-Zero GX!) on day one and backwards compatibility. It explains the timing of last weeks Direct. They always say that theyre not in competition with Sony and Microsoft, but they really seem to be gunning for third party support here, with an impressive range of games from such publishers. This perhaps explains the paltry first party offering of, the admittedly great looking, Mario Kart World. But the new Donkey game is out close to launch, so as good as day one too. (That Firaxis tease had me thinking for a moment they were going to announce a new or special edition XCOM. Damn it!).Its disappointing that Metroid Prime 4 isnt day one. As someone who owns a PlayStation 5 with access to games like Split Fiction, theres nothing really to get thoroughly immersed in. Im sure there will be many others who feel the same. Omitting it from the launch roster strikes me as a misstep, but again understandable if they want to encourage people to purchase third party software.Im also disappointed that Super Mario Universe wasnt shown or a day one release. Given how long its been since EAD last published a game, assuming they are behind the new Donkey Kong (is this confirmed?), theres a good chance theyll have a new Super Mario ready soon. But I cant see it being released this Christmas, as theyll be looking to drum up sales of Donkey Kong which it would be in competition with. Maybe the following year.My sense is that theyll be drip feeding new games over the coming months, including, of course, Metroid Prime 4. But I wonder what the big holiday season release will be. Surely not Prime or Pokmon? Theyre no doubt holding something back. Maybe Animal Crossing? The console, though, looks great: HDR, 1080p and 4K resolutions, up to 120fps. Visually, many of the games looked amazing. Though no news on battery length.Ive already pre-ordered one (pre-orders are open now where I live). The price of both console and software doesnt seem unreasonable to me, but then I can afford it. Beyond the launch window, they could struggle, though, to match sales of the Switch 1 at this price.CiaraGC: At time of writing, we dont know who the Donkey Kong developer is. Theres a lot of games with a 2025 release date but nothing more, so its hard to say if theres a big Christmas release being kept secret or if they hope that multiple smaller titles will make up for the lack of one.Inbox also-ransFrom an anon, insider info. Switch 2 will be out mid-May, it will cost 350, and at least sux games will be out on release day.AnonGC: UmmThe Nintendo Swirch 2 Direct blew my mind although, if a game costs 75 quid a pop, Im unsure whether Ill get one. Cheers, and thanks for all the great work you do.Nick PGC: Thank you.More TrendingEmail your comments to: gamecentral@metro.co.ukThe small printNew Inbox updates appear every weekday morning, with special Hot Topic Inboxes at the weekend. Cafe Rosemary is located next to the Daewang Reservoir in Sangjeok-dong, Seongnam-si. It consists of two buildings of approximately 285 on two floors, and the middle staircase is responsible for crossing the two buildings vertically and horizontally. As can be seen from the location of the stairs, the two buildings were divided by legal regulations, and the flow and connection of space was organically created like a spiral structure of DNA connecting the four spaces on the two floors and the rooftop space on the original two sites. For this purpose, six spaces are connected.Save this picture!Save this picture! Each space was planned to be as exposed as possible to the view of the Daewang Reservoir in front of the building and the forest of Inreungsan Mountain in the back. In order to maximize the space's intrusion into the nature of the front and back, the size of the surface facing the view was maximized through the curve of the faade, and the space was created to create a spatial effect like a pavilion that naturally intrudes into nature.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The view frames of the secondary view formed in this way are structured in the form of a curved ceiling that matches the exterior of the building and a pillar with the ceiling flowing down. A single internal space shape was created.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The exterior of the Rosemary Cafe is an extension of the interior space, with three layers of curved balconies stacked on top of each other. • Every GameCube Game Coming To Switch 2's Switch Online Library
    www.gamespot.com
After years of clamoring for the GameCube library to come to Nintendo Switch Online, the Nintendo Switch 2 will add the console and a few games to the Nintendo Classics collection. The GameCube library will launch the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2 releases to the public on June 5, with these games ready to pick up and play. The games will feature a higher resolution than the original releases, and players can customize the controls as well. There will also be a wireless controller designed after the original GameCube controller that will feature a C button, also released the same day as the Switch 2.This is specifically for subscribers to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier. You can purchase that for $80 a year, but we don't know if the price might go up. Let's take a look at the games that were featured in the presentation and the ones that were shown to be dropping later on. As with Nintendo Switch Onlines other classic libraries, games will be added periodically and are subject to change. The Legend of Zelda: Wind WakerInitially released in 2002, Wind Waker's cartoonish style and gameplay won over fans and spawned sequels and spin-offs with 3DS titles like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. F-Zero GXThe 2003 racing video game was a collaboration between Nintendo and Sega. It's the successor to F-Zero X, and continued the series' difficult, high-speed racing style, while keeping the basic gameplay and control system from the Nintendo 64 game.GX introduced a "story mode" element, a series first, where the player assumes the role of F-Zero pilot Captain Falcon through nine chapters while completing various missions. Players will be able to join three other friends in four-person races online or locally. Soulcalibur 2Soulcalibur II is considered to be one of the greatest fighting games ever made. It had improved graphics compared to its predecessor and introduced several new and guest characters, including Link (with four costumes) for the GameCube version. Super Mario SunshineTaking Mario on vacation to the tropical Isle Delfino, where he, Toadsworth, Princess Peach, and five Toads are trying to soak up some sun. Too bad a villain known as Shadow Mario is vandalizing the island with graffiti, with Mario getting wrongfully convicted for the mess.As punishment, Mario is ordered to clean up Isle Delfino, using a device called the Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device (F.L.U.D.D.), all the while saving Princess Peach from Shadow Mario. The game was re-released alongside Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection on Nintendo Switch in September 2020. Fire Emblem: Path of RadianceFire Emblem: Path of Radiance is the ninth main installment in the Fire Emblem series, but the third to be released in the West in 2005. A direct sequel for the Wii, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, was released in 2007 in North America and Japan, and later in 2008 for Europe and Australia. It was a rare example of cross-platform play, as players with save data from the Game Boy Advance Fire Emblem games were able to connect with Path of Radiance and access concept art and special maps revolving around characters from those games. Pokemon XD: Gale of DarknessPokemon XD was the successor to the GameCube title Pokemon Colosseum and also takes place in Orre, the setting of Colosseum's adventure mode. The game was first announced in March 2005 as a new GameCube game, but not as a sequel to Colosseum--later developments, as well as two promotional demo versions, confirmed the game would be very similar. Shadow Pokemon, first introduced in Colosseum, were a major gameplay element, with a Shadow Lugia being featured on the game's box art. While most of the gameplay recycled a lot of material from Colosseum, Pokemon XD became a fan favorite. Super Mario StrikersThis was also the last Mario game released on the GameCube in Japan and North America. Super Mario Strikers, or Mario Smash Football in Europe or Australia, pitted Mario and friends against each other in five-on-five soccer games.Much like Mario Power Tennis, the player can use Mario-themed items such as bananas and red shells to hinder the opponent and gain the advantage during the game. Strikers received generally favorable reviews and spawned two sequels.
