The new building is located on the Mayoral campus in Intelhorce, Mlaga, next to the protected warehouse designed by Vzquez Molezn and rehabilitated by the same team in 2018. The project's concept revolves around urban planning within the complex adjacent to the existing warehouse.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The high-storage program required the new building to reach a height of 20 meters with a floor area of over 15,000 square meters, making it a massive volume very close to the existing building, which is only 11 meters tall. Therefore, it needed to be handled with the necessary sensitivity to integrate seamlessly with its neighbor. This integration extends not only at a volumetric level but also at a conceptual level, aiming for a common language rooted in the textile industry that both buildings represent.Save this picture!Save this picture! Two driving ideas for the project emerged from this condition: (1) the break from the conventional rectangular prism for this typology by curving its facades and distancing itself as much as possible from the existing building to soften the significant height difference between the buildings and their volumes. (2) The search for an envelope with a textile language that engages in a dialogue with the original warehouse, exploring, the concept of transparency and opacity of fabrics.Save this picture!Save this picture! The five large arches forming the four facades are further subdivided into a series of smaller arches that blur the solidity of the large volume, giving the final appearance of a building wrapped in fabric, reminiscent of the artistic expressions by Christo and Jeanne-Claude in various works around the world.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! From a technical perspective, the project is based on two fundamental pillars: prefabrication and energy efficiency.Save this picture!Save this picture! It is a project with a high degree of prefabrication and modulation. The entire project has been prefabricated in the workshop and assembled on-site, except for the foundation and some minor components. Prefabrication, combined with the use of BIM technology throughout the design, project, and construction processes, has allowed for the precise adherence to timelines and the budget for the project.Save this picture!Save this picture! The triangulated tubular steel structure was manufactured in Laln, Galicia, and its beams, with spans of up to 32 meters, were transported to the site for meticulous assembly, including the spiral staircase over 16 meters in height. On the other hand, the folded zinc sheet facade was manufactured in Asturias, and the interior polycarbonate skin in lava.Save this picture! The 20-meter-high facade is composed of two layers: an inner layer of translucent polycarbonate that provides insulation and waterproofing and an outer layer of micro-perforated zinc sheet that allows the passage of natural light while protecting the polycarbonate from direct solar radiation, thereby improving the thermal transmission coefficient of the facade.Save this picture! The combination of both creates an interior volume naturally illuminated along the entire height of its four facades, minimizing the use of artificial light and regulating the building's energy consumption.Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessProject locationAddress:Av. de Jos Ortega y Gasset, Cruz de Humilladero, Mlaga, SpainLocation to be used only as a reference. • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle made me motion sick until I changed these settings
    www.polygon.com
Greetings, fellow nauseated traveler who just wanted to enjoy Indiana Jones and the Great Circle but couldnt manage to play for longer than an hour at a time. Youve come to the right place. I, too, couldnt deal with the strange head bob that our hero does in this first-person game. Through a combination of tweaks to the settings in the options menu, Ive managed to make the game playable for myself and probably for you, too.Is it still a bit dizzying sometimes? Yes. Do I still wish the team at MachineGames would remove the head bob entirely? Yes. Please. But until that happens, these are my suggestions for getting through this adventure.First, open the options menu, and go to the section called Video. In that section, you can start by implementing my most effective change, which unfortunately will only be available in this menu if youre playing on PC and not console. This suggestion is to increase the Field of View slider to at least 100. You can even put it up to 110 if you want; try different levels and see what works best for you. These next options are available on both console and PC. Go down to Motion Blur and set it to off (apologies to this particular artistic decision). The last setting in this section that you might consider is called Picture Framing its at the top of the list in the screenshot above. I have my entire game in Cinematic mode, which means that both gameplay and cutscenes have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen, all the time. Its supposed to make the game look like a movie. Honestly, I dont love the look of it (and I think its a corny conceit), but it does seem to be helping my nausea levels. Were still not done. Next, navigate to the Accessibility menu. You can adjust the Field of View and Motion Blur here as well, but youve already done that, right?More importantly, youre going to want to set Camera Stabilization to on, and Screen Shake to off. Lastly, try to sit further away from your screen when you play. It will help with this issue. And while youre in this menu, you can increase the size of the subtitles to accommodate an increased distance from the screen. If all else fails, and youre playing on PC, just wait for somebody to make a mod that fixes Indys penchant for bobbing his head every time he takes a single step or a mod that puts the entire game into third-person mode (its definitely possible). Until then, these band-aids are what we have.

  • The Batman sequel from Matt Reeves delayed a year, but we know more details about it
    www.polygon.com
Theatergoers will have to wait a bit longer for Robert Pattinsons Batman to return to the big screen. Matt Reeves follow up to 2022s The Batman has swooped back a year from its Oct. 2, 2026 release date to Oct. 1, 2027. Warner Bros. greenlit the unnamed sequel in 2022, Reeves will direct and co-write the script with uncredited The Batman screenwriter Mattson Tomlin, with filming expected to begin in mid-2025. Most of the main cast, including Pattinson, Geoffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell, is already confirmed to return.Reeves and Tomlin are naturally keeping the sequels script under wraps, but the director did offer some hints when speaking to Digital Spy this week. Though Paul Danos Riddler is locked away in Arkham now, Gotham is facing a slow recovery from the catastrophic flood he caused by destroying the citys seawall. And according to Reeves, thats made things pretty complicated for Batman. In the first movie, Batman views things very simplistically, he sees things in black and white. What he can represent and how he can affect that, Reeves told Digital Spy. As we enter into the next movie, theres a lot more grey. Theres a lot more people at odds. Theres a lot more division in the city. Its a lot more like our world is now, theres a lot of turmoil because people are in their camps and theyre not communicating. Reeves added, And when things are in grey, it makes it very hard to be Batman, so this is part of the challenge as we enter it.

  • The First Five Things You Should Do With Your Fitbit Charge 6
    lifehacker.com
We may earn a commission from links on this page.Fitbits Charge 6 is such a great little minimalist fitness tracker, you barely need to do anything to get startedjust strap it on and let it work. But there are a few things you can do to customize the experience and get everything working even better for you. Here are some tips and tricks for those who are new to the device.Charge it and set it up (obviously)With any device, the first thing to do is charge it, turn it on, and follow the instructions (on-screen or in a quick start guide) to get it connected to your phone and to make sure you have your Fitbit account set up.New Fitbits come with a six-month premium membership, so set a reminder now for May to check in with yourself about whether youd like to cancel or continue your premium membership.Set up your charging station and routineThe battery on a Fitbit Charge 6 will last most of a week, which means sometime next week youll notice the battery getting low and youll ask yourself where did I put that charger? Decide now where the charging cable will live, and when in your routine youll charge the thing. The two best times and places for most people are:Charge the device while youre in the shower (so keep the charging cable in the bathroom; get a USB adapter that plugs into the wall).Charge the device while youre sitting at your computer, if you have a job or hobby that has you at the keyboard for hours. (In that case, the cable can live on your desk. Get an adapter if you only have USB-C ports.)Pick out a cool watch face Credit: Beth Skwarecki/Fitbit Fresh out of the box, your Charge 6 will look like all the other Charge 6s out there, with that parallel lines font. Cool, but you have other options. In your Fitbit app, tap the device icon in the upper left (where its reporting its battery percentage) and then tap Charge 6. Then tap Gallery, and choose a new watch face.Note that some of the faces can display a rotating selection of metrics. Tap once and youll see your steps for the day, tap another time to see your active minutes, and so on. On some faces, like Rise Up, each of these changes the color of the face.If you want to customize your Fitbits appearance even further, the band is replaceable. You can get a multi-pack of bands in colors to match your outfit or mood, a fabric band if you dont love the silicone, or various snazzy, stylish bands. Leather Bands Compatible with Fitbit Charge 6 Bands/Charge 5 Bands for Women, Boho Handmade Multilayer Wrap Bracelets Jewelry Strap Replacement for Charge 6/Charge 5 Fitness Tracker (Glitter/Silver) $16.99 at Amazon Get Deal Get Deal $16.99 at Amazon Turn off the notifications you dont wantMaybe you love getting notifications on your watch, and maybe you dont. When you first set up your Fitbit, youll have decided whether you want your phones notifications mirrored on your Fitbit. (If youre having regrets in either direction, tap Charge 6 in the Fitbit app and tap Notifications to fine-tune them.)But the Charge 6 has its own reasons for buzzing you, which arent included there. When you exercise, you may feel a near-constant buzzing from your Fitbit, telling you that youve entered or left a given heart rate zone. There must be somebody on this earth who enjoys that feature, but it sure isnt me, and it probably isnt you. Select an activity (such as Run), and swipe up for settings. Turn off Heart Zone Notifications. You can also swipe up from the main clock face and tap Settings to turn off AZM Notifications.Set up the Google features (Music, Wallet, and Maps)The Charge 6 can control music thats playing from your phone, which is handy when youre working out and want to skip a track without digging your phone out of your pocket or gym bag. The music still plays from your phone, though, so your phone has to be in range. On the bright side, you dont need to pair headphones to your Fitbit; just have them paired to your phone. To control music from your Charge 6, you need to be a YouTube Music subscriber (or be interested in trying out the free trial it will offer). One nice feature is that youll get some automatic playlists that adapt to your taste, so you can pick a workout mix and hit the ground running. The Charge 6 also offers navigation if you have set up Google Maps on your phone, and there is a Wallet feature that lets you tap to pay from your Fitbit device. Fitbit Pay is the only feature of the three that does not require you to have your phone in range. In the Fitbit app, go to the Charge 6 icon and tap the appropriate tile to set up Music, Wallet, or Maps. And a tip on troubleshooting: The connection process doesnt always go smoothly. For example, I kept getting a message saying that YouTube Music couldnt find my phone. If youve tried everything and still cant get the Charge 6 to connect the Music app (or some other app) to your phone, try these instructions, which worked for me when nothing else did. Youll have your phone forget the Charge 6s Bluetooth settings, force quit the Fitbit app, restart your phone, hard-restart your Fitbit using that strange little button on the charging cable, and finally replace your device in the Fitbit app. This didnt lose any data for me, and when it was over, I finally got the Music app to play me some Chappell Roan.

  • How to Protect Your Cat From This Deadly Bird Flu
    lifehacker.com
Bird flu has been around for a long time, but a major U.S. outbreak of H5N1, ongoing since March 2024, has raised concern for a wider spread that will affect more than just birds. Also at risk: indoor cats, who are highly susceptible to the virus and likely to experience severe illness if infected. Several animal deaths have already been reported across Oregon and California. If you have a pet cator have feral or barn cats nearbyyou should be aware of the symptoms of bird flu in felines and take preventive measures to protect your animals from infection. What are the signs of bird flu in cats?Symptoms of bird flu infection in cats may include lethargy, fever, and loss of appetite as well as mood and behavior change (such as unusual hiding or excessive sleeping). Some cats will also develop redness in their eyes and/or discharge from their eyes and nose, and may experience respiratory difficulty (labored breathing, sneezing, and coughing) or neurological symptoms (seizures or tremors). If your cat shows any of these signs, keep them away from other cats and anyone with a compromised immune system and call your vet right away. How to protect your cat from bird fluThere are a few preventive measures you can take to minimize the risk of your cat contracting bird flu: Do not feed them raw meat or unpasteurized dairy, including raw milk. (Cooking and pasteurizing kills viruses and germs that are dangerous for animals.) Check the ingredients in your cat's food to ensure it doesn't contain any raw meat or dairy. Northwest Naturals has already recalled frozen pet food with raw turkeythe affected batches were sold in 12 states and in British Columbia, Canada. You should also keep your cat away from livestock, poultry, and wild birds, all of which may carry the virus. Keep them indoors, or at least prevent them from wandering unsupervised around outside, where they are likely to encounter and hunt birds. Finally, you should wash your hands after touching poultry and any animals, including your cat. Do not interact with sick or dead birds without sufficient protection.

  • This Ridiculously Detailed Spreadsheet Has Helped Me Stick to My New Years Resolutions for Five Years
    lifehacker.com
New Year's Eve is my favorite holiday. I love a designated time to look forward and to reflect back, ideally while getting tipsy with friends. The turn of a new year is also a time when Im grateful for my habit of writing down every little thingand I dont just mean getting my thoughts and feelings down in a journal. Im talking about tracking every book read, every mile run, and every beer crushed (approximately). So if youre interested in documenting your lifeand you should be!I highly recommend using a wonderfully detailed spreadsheet.Im not talking about bullet journaling (which can be cool, but which I find too artistically daunting). I simply create a Google sheet full of different color-coded tabs so that I can track any number of ways to measure a year. From the most thorough travel plans to elaborate to-do lists, if you have a goal, that goal needs a spreadsheet tab. Its a fun, slightly nerdy technique that helps me visualize my life in a way that traditional journaling cant. Heres why I think this year, you should start your own spreadsheet to track all the little things in your life. How to turn anything into a trackable achievementThe spreadsheet journal is perfect for us freaks who like to combine sentimentalism with statistics. Whatever metrics you choose to jot down, you can frame them around a sense of accomplishment. Your smart watch can track how many steps youve taken. A spreadsheet journal, however, is where you can appreciate how many steps youve achieved. From there, you can have fun with the numbers, converting those steps into miles or finding patterns over time or in whatever suits your nerdy brain. Go wild. Create different tabs dedicated to different areas of your life, so you can appreciate how much you have going on. Ill throw around some ideas in the next section, but at the end of the day, a spreadsheet is a low-effort, high-reward alternative to trying to use your words all the time, so dont get too caught up in the details. The technique is really about recognizing the value in every little number that defines your life. How to create your tracking spreadsheetFirst things first: Choose your spreadsheet software. I opt for the ease of Google Sheets, but I understand you might have some privacy concerns there. Or maybe youre simply a master at Excel. For some formatting ideas, check out this post on creating the ultimate travel spreadsheet. The main takeaway is to create one master file with as many different tabs as you see fit. Include tabs tracking your health/fitness goals, books/movies/TV youve consumed, your finances/budgeting, and whatever else is significant to you:Hours sleptMiles walkedConcerts attendedMovies watchedBooks startedBooks finished Dates gone onPlaces traveledGifts givenThank you notes sentTime spent in trafficPlaylists createdMake sure you include a column for adding notes to your entriessome personal commentary to spice up the statistics. How to maximize your spreadsheetYou can dedicate a column in each tab for jotting down miscellaneous notes, but for the sake of tidiness, make sure not to overfill your boxes with text. It also helps to stay consistent with your formattinge.g. bolding the header of each metric. I color code at whim. For instance, as a stand-up comedian, I keep track of all my shows with a specific color to mark how I felt about them: Shades of green mean the show went well, and shades of red mean the show...did not go well. In times where it looks like everything in my life is red, its nice to be able to shift my gaze to all the green, too. Perspective! At the end of the year, youll be able to use all that data to visualize both the big and the little things in your life over the 12 months prior. At a glance, youll be able to pat yourself on the back for how successfully you cut back on caffeine, or upped your time outdoors, or improved your books-started to books-completed ratio. Ultimately, my own spreadsheet is about appreciating all the little things in my life, even if I do so in one of the nerdiest ways imaginable.
