Best Returning UK TV Series 2025: Gangs of London, Slow Horses, Rivals, Doctor Who
New British TV shows are all very well, but theres the whole getting to know you rigmarole to get through. With a returning British TV show, the introductions have already been made, the intimacies have already been shared, and everybodys comfortable enough in each others company to relax, breathe out, and, figuratively speaking, pee with the bathroom door open. Below are the returning UK TV series due on screen in 2025 and beyond. Prepare to welcome back Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb for more Slow Horses, plus another eight episodes of Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor in Doctor Who, plus the third series of acclaimed Sky action thriller Gangs of London, new Black Mirror, a whole parade of British crime drama, comedies and more.Well keep this list updated as new commissions and release dates are announced.A Good Girls Guide to Murder Series 2There are three books in Holly Jacksons A Good Girls Guide to Murder series, and if all goes to plan, therell be three BBC TV adaptions too. BBC Three has already ordered the second series of this YA sleuthing show, which stars Wednesdays Emma Myers as Pip, the British teenager with a knack for solving mysteries and getting into trouble.Big Boys Series 3Jack Rookes funny, moving, autobiographically-inspired sitcom Big Boys, about 2010s university life for Jack, Danny and Corinne will be back on Channel 4. Series three started filming in summer 2024, so there shouldnt be too long to wait for the return of Dylan Llewellyn, Jon Pointing, Izuka Hoyle, Camille Coduri and Harriet Webbs characters.Black Doves Series 2Joe Bartons darkly funny, very violent, London-set spy thriller was already renewed for a second series before the first arrived on Netflix just before Christmas 2024, so we know well be getting more from Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaws mercenary spooks whenever their doubtlessly packed schedules align. The first series had a mediocre story and thinly drawn characters, but charisma and style in spades, so theres every chance that the second run could be magnificent. Black Mirror Series 7Six brand new episodes of Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones sci-fi anthology will arrive on Netflix in 2025, including one sequel to a previous story, and two feature-length instalments. Black Mirror will revisit USS Callister once again in the shows first ever follow-up episode, hence the return of The Penguins Cristin Milioti in the cast list which also includes: Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Jimmi Simpson, Chris ODowd, Harriet Walter and many more.Blue Lights Series 3Declan Lawn and Adam Pattersons Belfast-set BBC One police drama was announced as being simultaneously renewed for both a third and fourth series in early 2024, so fans can rest easy about its future. Actor Sian Brooke told Den of Geek that she expected filming on series three to begin in January 2025, so therell be a little wait before we can see the new episodes and find out where her character Grace and love interest Stevie went in that taxiBoarders Series 2The first series of Daniel Lawrence Taylors BBC Three YA comedy-drama Boarders, set in an English boarding school, was clever, funny and timely, so lets hope series two follows suit. Its a new year at the exclusive school to which a group of young Black Londoners won scholarships, and where they had to negotiate their identities while working out how to navigate well-meaning prejudice, outright bigotry, as well as all the usual teen TV romance-mates-drugs-drink drama.Doctor Who Series 15Eight new episodes of Doctor Who will arrive in 2025 featuring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor along with new companion Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu. Previous companion Ruby Sunday will also reappear, along with the UNIT gang and Anita Dobsons mysterious Mrs Flood. The story this time (expected to conclude once again with a two-parter) involves the Doctor trying to get Belinda back home but being stopped by mysterious forces.Gangs of London Series 3Gareth Evans ultra-violent, ultra-stylish family crime saga Gangs of London will return in 2025 for its third series, in which a number of Londoners are killed when a batch of cocaine is spiked. Who spiked it and why will be the mystery of series three, which is set to welcome back Joe Cole as Sean, Sop Drs as Elliot, Michelle Fairley as Marian, Lucian Msamati as Ed, as well as new characters played by Richard Dormer and TNia Miller.Join our mailing listGet the best of Den of Geek delivered right to your inbox!Grantchester Series 9The ninth series of this period-set crime drama aired in the US in 2024, and finally arrives on ITV from January 8 2025. It welcomes new vicar Alphy (Rishi Nair), who joins Robson Green and the rest of the regulars in a story involving a 1960s Manson-style cult.Hijack Series 2Idris Elba will return as negotiator extraordinaire Sam Nelson in George Kay and Jim Field Smiths Apple TV+ thriller Hijack. Nelson successfully navigated his way through a twist-filled plane hijacking in the shows first series, and hell be doing it again thanks to a series renewal, confirmed in January 2024. Theres no steer as yet on the new story or a release date, but well bring you news when it arrives.Industry Season 4AKA the best show on TV youre not watching (unless you are in which case, youve probably spent the last few months spreading the word and trying to get everybody else on board), HBO/BBC coproduction Industry crept onto screens in 2020 and has steadily grown in excellence since then. Season three of the London-set finance drama, which featured the arrival of Kit Harington as new character Lord Muck (yes, Muck), was masterful. Thank goodness that a fourth run has already been confirmed but dont expect it any time soon.Ludwig Series 2David Mitchell will be back as identical twins John and James Taylor in Ludwig, Mark Brotherhoods puzzle-based crime series for BBC One. This Mitchell-vehicle has a ludicrous premise (socially awkward puzzle-loving twin impersonates his confident and popular police detective brother in order to investigate the disappearance of the latter) but gets by easily on comfort and charm. It was a big hit for the BBC, so expect to hear much more fanfare about the second run ahead of its arrival.Read more Red Eye Series 2Richard Armitage (of The Hobbit and Harlan Coben thriller fame) will return in series two of ITV action thriller Red Eye. The real-time gimmick with this murder-mystery was paired with an unusual setting on board a flight between London and Beijing. If series two is anything like its predecessor, expect ludicrous twists and a great deal of switch-your-brain-off fun.Rivals Series 2Did any TV series have as much fun as Disney+s Rivals in 2024? Doubtful. This 1980s-set Jilly Cooper adaptation about horsey-set toffs bonking in fictional Rutshire (and to a lesser extent, about two companies battling for regional franchise television rights) delighted in itself, and made viewers pretty delighted too. Thank heavens then, for the second series which will follow on the romance between Rupert and Taggie, and reveal what happens after that messy cliffhanger. Theres plenty of source material from Cooper still to adapt, so there should be no worries on that front.SAS: Rogue Heroes Series 2Steven Knights WWII-set action drama continues with more feats of derring-do from the maverick unit of elite soldiers. This time, the gang is in Europe committing insubordinations and winning the war by the skin of their teeth. It features a cast including rumoured future-Bond Connor Swindells, Jack OConnor, Dominic West, Con ONeill and more. All episodes are streaming now on BBC iPlayer, following their New Years Day release. Sherwood Series 3Unless James Graham and co. really get their skates on, Sherwoods third series isnt likely to arrive on BBC One in 2025, but seeing as its been officially commissioned, were including it here anyway. Inspired by local events in his home town of Nottinghamshire, Grahams acclaimed state-of-the-nation drama tells political stories through personal perspectives. The first two series starred Lesley Manville, David Morrissey, Lorraine Ashbourne and more first-rate British acting talent. Expect the same for series three.Shetland Series 10DCI Calder and DI Tosh solved the murders of Annie and Bergen in Shetland series nine, leaving space in their caseload for a new investigation for the already-commissioned tenth series of this Shetland-set crime drama. Expect new guest cast, more twists, and most importantly, some excellent knitwear.Slow Horses Series 5Filming on the fifth series of Apple TV+s word-of-mouth hit Slow Horses finished in summer 2024, so fans are just waiting on the post-production and crossing their fingers for a mid-2025 release. The spy thriller about an MI5 outpost of washed-up and disgraced agents, each of whom has their own reason for ending up in Slough House, comes adapted from the Mick Herron novel series by The Thick of It writer Will Smith, and stars Gary Oldman in the now-iconic TV role of Jackson Lamb. Unmissable, and series six has already been commissioned. Sweetpea Series 2Fallout and Yellow Jackets Ella Purnell will be back in the role of Rhiannon, an overlooked wallflower with a dark secret in the second series of this Sky serial killer drama, adapted from the novel by CJ Sansom.Taskmaster Series 19 & 20Greg Davies and Alex Hornes comedians competing in ridiculous tasks for points show will return, twice in 2025. Channel 4 were thoughtful enough to commission Taskmaster in a job-lot all the way up to series 21, so were guaranteed at least one more after series 19 and 20. As is traditional, the line-ups for those are being kept under-wraps but well pass them on as soon as were allowed. The Day of the Jackal Series 2Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch return as the respective mouse and cat in this cat-and-mouse spy action-thriller for Sky. The first series reworked Frederick Forsyths popular novel about an expert marksman planning to commit a high-profile political assassination, moving it to a modern setting and following the two lead characters (Redmaynes assassin and Lynchs MI6 agent) home to their families. Expect more extraordinary stunts and intense escapes in series two.The Devils Hour Series 3Prime Videos parallel-timelines drama filmed its third and final series at the same time as its second, so this ones already in the can. The fantasy-horror stars Peter Capaldi as a mysterious man who knows the future and works to change it, alongside Jessica Raine as a woman whose life is unalterably affected by his actions. The first series had almost too much going on to follow, but the second run was a steep improvement which narrowed its focus to a central question: when you save someones life, are you responsible for them? Highly recommended. The Gold Series 2The first series Neil Forsyths solid true crime drama based on the infamous Brinks-Mat gold heist ended with a note of to be continued, so hooray that the BBC is continuing it. Hugh Bonneville, Emun Elliott and Charlotte Spencers Scotland Yard detectives may have got their men, but only half of the money that resulted from the gold theft had been traced. Cue: the next part of the investigation, following the cash through international drug gangs and beyond. The Rig Series 2David Macphersons eco-sci-fi thriller is back on Prime Video with six new episodes following some strange events at a cluster of remote Scottish oil rigs in series one. Line of Dutys Martin Compston returns, along with Schitts Creeks Emily Hampshire, plus Iain Glen, Owen Teale and more. Remind yourself of what happened last time with our spoilery recap. The Traitors Series 3New Years Day 2025 saw the return of Claudia Winkleman and her wardrobe of tweed capes and fingerless gloves, presiding over a bunch of 25 hopefuls confident that their game plan will lead them to the prize money. That number got whittled down right away and now the game is very much afoot. With prize-fund-building challenges, tense round table discussions and nightly murders, Traitors is back on BBC One and iPlayer.Unforgotten Series 6Chris Langs cold-case ITV police drama comes back for a sixth series the second with new(ish) lead Sinad Keenan as DCI Jessica James working alongside Sanjeev Bhaskars DI Sunny. The new investigation is sparked when human remains are discovered in marshland and Jess and Sunny have to unearth the truth.Vera Series 14Barbara Blethyn hangs up her Paddington Bear hat in the final instalments of beloved ITV crime drama Vera, which started airing on New Years Day 2025.ALSO RETURNING IN 2025 Alan Carrs Changing Ends Series 2 Am I Being Unreasonable Series 2 After the Flood Series 2 All Creatures Great and Small Series 6 Beyond Paradise Series 3 Black Ops Series 2 Call the Midwife Series 14 Daddy Issues Series 2 Dinosaur Series 2 Gladiators Series 2 Grace Series 5 Here We Go Series 3 Karen Pirie Series 2 Malpractice Series 2 Mr Bigstuff Series 2 Piglets Series 2 Professor T Series 5 Race Across the World Series 5 Silent Witness Series 28 & 29 Ten Pound Poms Series 2 The Bay Series 5 The Change Series 2 The Couple Next Door Series 2 The Good Ship Murder Series 2 The Horne Section Series 2 Waterloo Road Series 15 We Might Regret This Series 2 & 3

Critical Deadline: Update Old .NET Domains Before January 7, 2025 to Avoid Service Disruption
Jan 03, 2025Ravie LakshmananDevOps / Software DevelopmentMicrosoft has announced that it's making an "unexpected change" to the way .NET installers and archives are distributed, requiring developers to update their production and DevOps infrastructure."We expect that most users will not be directly affected, however, it is critical that you validate if you are affected and to watch for downtime or other kinds of breakage," Richard Lander, a program manager on the .NET team, said in a statement last week. The move is the result of the fact that some .NET binaries and installers are hosted on Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN) domains that end in .azureedge[.]net -- dotnetcli.azureedge.net and dotnetbuilds.azureedge.net -- which are hosted on Edgio.Last month, web infrastructure and security company Akamai acquired select assets from Edgio following its bankruptcy. As part of this transition, the Edgio platform is scheduled to end service on January 15, 2025.Given that the .azureedge[.]net domains could cease to become unavailable in the future, Microsoft said it's migrating to Azure Front Door CDNs. The Windows maker said it will automatically migrate customers' workloads by January 7, 2025, if no action is taken. However, it's worth noting that automatic migration will not be possible for endpoints with *.vo.msecnd.net domains. Users who plan to migrate to Akamai or another CDN provider are also required to set the Feature Flag DoNotForceMigrateEdgioCDNProfiles before January 7, 2025, so as to prevent automatic migration to Azure Front Door."Note you will have until January 14, 2025 to complete your migration to another CDN, but again Microsoft cannot guarantee your services will be available on the Edgio platform before this date," Microsoft said."Please be advised we will need to halt all configuration changes to Azure CDN by Edgio profiles starting on January 3, 2025. This means you will not be able to update your CDN profile configuration, but your services on Azure CDN from Edgio will still operate until you are migrated or the Edgio platform is shut down on January 15, 2025. If you apply the DoNotForceMigrateEdgioCDNProfiles feature flag before January 3, your configuration will not be frozen for changes."While relying on *.azureedge[.]net and *.azurefd[.]net isn't recommended due to availability risks, users have the temporary option of migrating to Azure Front Door while retaining the domains."To ensure greater flexibility and avoid a single point of failure, it's advisable to adopt a custom domain as soon as possible," Microsoft warns.Furthermore, to avoid security concerns with a bad actor acquiring the azureedge[.]net domain for malware distribution or poisoning the software supply chain, the tech giant said it has taken control of it. But as for why the old domain names could not be used to resolve to the new servers, it's being said that "this option wasn't being made available."Users are recommended to scan their codebases for references to azureedge[.]net and update them to the following -Update dotnetcli.azureedge.net to builds.dotnet.microsoft.comUpdate dotnetcli.blob.core.windows.net to builds.dotnet.microsoft.comFound this article interesting? The crew-cut darling of Brutalism: Paul Rudolph exhibition
For a young architect, its a pretty sweet gig to design a school of architecture, especially if you happen to be the head of that school. But its not so great if, just a few years later, the students attempt to burn the school down. That architect was Paul Rudolph, quintessential man of the south, born in rural Kentucky, raised in Alabama. He took his architecture BA at Alabama Polytechnic Institute before venturing north to Harvard to study at Walter Gropiuss Graduate School of Design.Yale University appointed Rudolph as head of school and he subsequently designed its Arts and Architecture Building, 1958-1963. The 1969 blaze may have been the result of arson by students protesting against the Vietnam war; it may have been to do with departmental politics; it was possibly an outcry against Brutalism itself. Nevertheless, the tough concrete building survived the conflagration and, in 2007, it was named Rudolph Hall to honour its architect.Exhibition installation (credit: Eileen Travell, courtesy of The Met)The Metropolitan Museum of Art does not often exhibit modern architecture the last time was in 1974 so this timely show is something of a milestone, riding a wave of renewed interest in Brutalism. Curated by Abraham Thomas, the excellent exhibition charts key points in Rudolphs long career featuring many loans from the Library of Congress, to which Rudolph consigned his archive of more than 100,000 items just before his death.AdvertisementExhibits range from the humble Rudolphs coloured pencils, Rotring pens, drawing instruments, a fragment of rough wooden formwork for the ribbed concrete of the Yale Arts and Architecture building to the sublime, in the form of many examples of his stupendous draughtsmanship and several models. The exhibition also includes work from Rudolphs early career beach houses in Florida which even outdo Mies in their airy minimalism, space-age Perspex furniture, and a collection of objects, camshafts, insulators, etc, the sensuous form of which pleased Rudolph.Interior perspective of Tuskegee Institute Chapel (now Tuskeegee University), Tuskeegee Alabama, circa 1960 (credit: Prints and Photographs Division, Library of Congress)When Brutalism was all the fashion, Rudolph was the crew-cut darling of the media; he and his work featured in magazines like Vogue and even the Daily Telegraph. Its tempting to speculate that such close attention might have caused him a mental breakdown; he hinted at depression in remarks about his Beekman Place penthouse. Perhaps he wasnt helped by the use of his buildings in Venturi and Scott Browns Learning from Las Vegas as illustrations of what not to do; or by Rudolphs Harvard contemporary, Philip Johnson, bringing Postmodernism to the attention of the world by designing the Chippendale skyscraper, the AT&T building. It is more likely that Brutalisms moment in the sun passed by and Rudolph began to be bypassed for commissions.Lower Manhattan Expressway Project, New York, New York (Perspective to the East), 1972 (credit: Gift of The Howard Gilman Foundation)His most audacious scheme, initially devised in the 1940s by infamous New York planner Robert Moses, was the Lower Manhattan Expressway or LOMEX (see top image). The gigantic Y-shaped structure was intended to squat on southern Manhattan.Like so many of Rudolphs plans, it was too overwhelming ever to succeed, requiring the elimination of acres of vibrant but untidy districts. A loose coalition of artists, conservationists and residents quickly organised to oppose LOMEX, which was eventually dropped. The key drawing Rudolph prepared for LOMEX is well known to generations of architecture students as the cover image for Reyner Banhams Megastructure: Urban Futures of the Recent Past, 1976. Thomas has selected some clips from films that used Rudolphs buildings as locations, hinting at the actual experience of using Rudolphs multilevel buildings.Architectural model for the proposed Sino Tower (unbuilt), Hong Kong, 1989 (photo: Eileen Travell)Late in his career, Rudolph designed a number of projects in south-east Asia, which he hoped would boost his profile, but these were often completed by other architects. One example is the Bond Centre (1988) in Hong Kong, now called the Lippo Centre, which, as intended by Rudolph, was a pair of towers connected at several levels by aerial walkways. The initial scheme delighted the Japanese Metabolists but, as built, all the walkways are missing and the whole outline is simplified and softened.AdvertisementExhibition installation (credit: Eileen Travell, courtesy of The Met)Rudolphs own penthouse on top of 22 Beekman Place, overlooking the East River and much altered since the architects death in 1997, is presently for sale for $18 million. If you make a trip to see the exhibition, try to also arrange a visit to Rudolphs Modulightor showroom on East 58th Street, which is open just twice a month, allowing a real experience of a surviving Paul Rudolph interior.Materialized Space: The Architecture of Paul Rudolph is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, until 16 March 2025David Brady is a freelance writer on art, architecture, design and graphics

Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress Review 2024: Hotel Style Comfort With Firmness Options
9.0 /10 SCORE Our Verdict Our Verdict Best for: Back sleeper Combo sleeper Side sleeper Stomach sleeper Score Breakdown Performance 9 /10 Policies 8 /10 Durability 9.5 /10 Features 9 /10 Pros and Cons Pros Accommodating, comfy pillow-top feel Hybrid bed Zoned support design Multiple firmness options Cons Somewhat expensive Not for memory foam lovers Table of Contents Time and again, we've appreciated Nolah's mattresses for its signature memory foam feel and reliable structure. We've even recommended its Original 10" and Signature 12" to side sleepers for some time now. However, if you've been looking for one that caters to all types, the Nolah Evolution Hybrid is an option that we recently tested. This bed is a departure from Nolah's previous recipe for mattresses and comes with a plush pillow-top and a choice of firmness levels. Here's everything you need to know about it.First impressions of the Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattressWhen we first received the Nolah Evolution Hybrid, I wasn't sure what to expect from Nolah's first hybrid mattress. I have seen quite a few brands simply take one of its all-foam models and replace the support foam with a layer of coils before making a hotel-style pillow-top mattress -- but Nolah did things differently. After unboxing the mattress and giving it some time to fully inflate and firm up, I was immediately impressed with the look and feel of the bed. How a bed looks isn't all that important because the only time you will typically see the exterior of your mattress is when you're swapping your sheets but having tested hundreds of beds over six years I appreciate a nice looking mattress and the Nolah Evolution is certainly that in my opinion. It didn't feel much like the previous Nolah models at all, despite using the same type of foam. Instead of having a blended feel somewhere between a memory foam and a more neutral, responsive foam the Nolah Evolution felt like a hotel mattress and I had a great impression of this mattress from the get go.See more: Our Experts Visit 3Z Brands' Factory to See How Mattresses Are MadeVideo: Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress reviewWatch me review the Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress in this video review. Nolah Evolution Hybrid construction and feelThe Nolah Evolution Hybrid is a thick mattress, measuring in at 15 inches tall, which means you might want to invest in some deep-pocketed sheets, should you decide to get the Nolah Evolution or any other bed with comparable height. The bottommost layer is a thin layer of high-density support foam. You won't be feeling this layer when you sleep on the mattress. It's only here so the 8-inch layer of pocketed coils has a stable foundation. These coils are a thicker gauge along the perimeter of the mattress and in the center third to provide reinforced edge support and zoned support. I was recently able to tour the factory where Nolah makes this mattress, along with dozens of others, and see how the coils get made. The coils are exactly what Nolah says they are.Above the coil layer are two different layers of responsive transition foam, and above the transition foam is a layer of zoned AirFoam. This foam is similar to the main comfort layers found in the Nolah Original 10 and Signature 12, and it has some unique characteristics. It has a similar body-conforming quality to a more traditional memory foam while being much more responsive, providing those other Nolah beds with more of a mixed or blended foam feel. The Nolah Evolution has a thick pillow-top above the AirFoam, providing a fluffy, responsive pillow-top feel that I would compare favorably to beds I have slept on in hotels. I have a hard time picturing people trying this bed and flat-out finding it uncomfortable. Jon Gomez/CNETFirmness and sleeper typesThe Nolah Evolution Hybrid is available in three different firmness options: a plush model, a luxury-firm model and a firm model. These firmness profiles give sleepers plenty of options that should fit most sleeping preferences. The plush model we rated between a medium-soft and a medium on our firmness scale, closer to the medium-soft end of the spectrum. This option will appeal to side sleepers looking for maximum pressure relief. The luxury-firm model is noticeably firmer than the plush, landing at flat medium, which should work well for most sleeper types, especially couples and combination sleepers. The firm model will be around a medium-firm, which will appeal to back, stomach and combination sleepers. The luxury-firm is the most popular and the one I recommend for people sharing this mattress and people who favor their side, like myself, but I think having specialized firmness profiles available is a big bonus. There is also a variant of this mattress called the Nolah Evolution Comfort Plus that uses extra thick gauge coils and is slightly firmer than the firm model of the base Nolah Evolution (but not by much). This bed is designed to be extra durable and supportive for heavier individuals.Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress performanceEdge supportThe edge support on this mattress is excellent thanks to the reinforced perimeter coils that I mentioned earlier. Having good edge support is important for couples sharing a mattress because one or both of you could wind up sleeping close to the edge of the bed, and if the edge support is lacking, it can feel like you are going to roll off the bed which is not conducive to good sleep. I don't think couples will have any issues with the Evolution Hybrid. Jon Gomez - CNETMotion isolationIf you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night because your partner tosses and turns a lot, having a mattress that does a good job of isolating cross-mattress motion is important. The Nolah Evolution Hybrid is average overall in this category. The support layer is pocketed coils, which have almost entirely replaced traditional innersprings in mattress design. These coils do a much better job at isolating motion, so we don't see this being a deal-breaker for the vast majority of sleepers. But if you're a really light sleeper who wakes up easily when your partner tosses and turns, it could happen more on this bed than others. In that case, you might want to opt for a foam mattress like a Tempur-Pedic.Temperature regulationThe original model of the Nolah Evolution Hybrid had a darker cover that was cool to the touch. The current model has a different cover that is made of organic cotton and we didn't observe it to be active cooling.I don't think the cover swap impacts the temperature regulation of the mattress all that much -- the previous version was a bit cooler but the new version should still sleep temperature neutral and not heat up on you much at night. If you do sleep hot on this mattress I think it will have more to do with your overall sleeping environment than the mattress itself. If you're a hot sleeper and want help from your mattress to sleep cooler you should check out our best cooling beds list.Nolah Evolution Hybrid pricing undefined SizeMeasurements (inches)Price Twin 38x75$1,499Twin XL 38x80 $1,599Full 54x75 $2,299Queen 60x80 $2,499King 76x80 $2,699Cal king 72x84 $2,699Split king 38x80 $3,198 As a brand, Nolah tends to set its retail prices fairly high and then offer heavy discounts on its beds for pretty much the entire year. That means the price you see for Nolah is not what you'll likely be paying.I've watched prices for online mattresses for over six years now and for at least the last two years the typical discount for this mattress is 35% which brings the price down to $1,624 for a queen size. At this price I think the Nolah Evolution is an excellent value. It has a comfortable and accommodating feel with lots of features including multiple firmness options, organic materials and reinforced coils.Nolah will sometimes sweeten the deal with free pillows and sheets with a mattress purchase, so be sure to check out our mattress deals page for the most up-to-date Nolah deals. Jon Gomez - CNETNolah Evolution Hybrid mattress policiesFree shippingThe Nolah Evolution Comfort Plus is a big, burly and heavy mattress that's roughly 15 inches thick, but it still ships in a box right to your front door, and shipping is always free in the contiguous United States. Because of its size and weight, we recommend having someone else to help you get it out of the box, especially if you get a larger size.120-night trialNolah offers a longer than standard in-home sleep trial of 120 nights. So you get roughly four months to really test out the bed to see if it's supportive enough for you and is comfortable.Nolah does do something interesting though: It gives you the option to waive the trial period when you order any of its beds to save $100. We wouldn't necessarily recommend this because the trial period makes buying a mattress virtually risk-free, but if you're supremely confident you will love the mattress, the option exists with Nolah and no other brand we've seen so far.Return policyWithin the 120-night trial period you can return the Nolah Evolution Comfort Plus and get a refund. There's no upfront fee to initiate a return, but it will deduct $99 from your refund, which helps facilitate the mattress pickup process.Like most brands, Nolah will ask you to sleep on the bed for at least 30 nights before initiating a return. That's because, no matter how nice and well-suited your new mattress is to your sleep type, your body needs a bit of time to adjust to it.WarrantyAll Nolah mattresses are backed by a lifetime warranty, which is above and beyond the usual online mattress standard of 10 years. Keep in mind that with this warranty, and almost every lifetime warranty, the protection is tiered with the most protection in the first 10 years. Jon Gomez - CNETFinal verdictThe Nolah Evolution Hybrid is a bit of a departure from Nolah's other mattresses, but it's a welcome one. This is a fantastic mattress that will appeal to a wide variety of sleepers thanks to its comfort and accommodating pillow-top feel. It has quite a few features and lets sleepers pick and choose their firmness level. The discounted price also makes it a solid value so I think lots of people will be interested in and happy with this mattress. If you're seeking out more of a classic memory-foam mattress, a latex foam mattress, a firm bed or a bed without coils, this mattress will probably not be your first choice. But for anyone who wants hotel-style comfort at home, the Nolah Evolution Hybrid is an excellent option. You might like the Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress if:You are a combination sleeperYou want a responsive pillow-top feelYou want a mattress with coils for supportYou will be sharing this mattressYou might not like the Nolah Evolution mattress if:You are seeking a firm mattressYou are seeking a foam mattressYou want a classic memory foam feelYou are shopping with a tight budgetOther mattresses from NolahNolah Original Hybrid:The newest mattress from Nolah and the most affordable hybrid in their lineup. It uses pocketed coils as its main support layer and a layer of Nolah's proprietary AirFoam as the primary comfort layer. It's about a medium on the firmness scale, so it should work for most people well enough, and it has a neutral hybrid feel that's also accommodating. It is thinner and has fewer comfort layers in comparison to the Nolah Evolution.Nolah Original 10:The first mattress Nolah ever released is a three-layer foam mattress that's also affordable. It features the proprietary Nolah AirFoam that gives this mattress a unique feel. It's a cross between memory foam and a responsive neutral foam in terms of feel because sleepers will get some of the sink-in, body-conforming quality of memory foam with none of the "stuck" feeling some people experience. Nolah Original 10 Jonathan Gomez/CNETNolah Natural 11:This bed is the only bed for Nolah that uses natural latex foam in its construction, and it is the primary comfort layer that gives this mattress a distinctive and super responsive feel. Latex foam provides lots of comfort and cushion, but it feels like the polar opposite of memory foam because it's responsive, you don't really sink into the foam and it doesn't conform to your body's shape. Latex foam is a naturally derived foam, although the latex used in this mattress is not certified organic. Other materials in the mattress are certified organic. How does the Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress compare to similar mattresses?Nolah Evolution Hybrid vs. Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid is a newer mattress from the Leesa Chill line and there is a lot to like about it and it's similar to the Nolah Evolution. The foams are different, but we put the feel in the same category of responsive, fluffy pillow-top, which many sleepers love. The Sapira Chill also comes in three different firmness levels that correspond to the firmness levels of the Nolah Evolution. The biggest difference between the two is that the Sapira Chill is noticeably cooler to the touch and slightly more expensive after discount.Nolah Evolution Hybrid vs. Winkbed The Winkbed mattress is one of our favorite pillow-top beds and is also pretty similar to the Nolah Evolution Hybrid. It also comes in three different firmness options and has a comfy, responsive pillow-top feel. It also uses reinforced coils along the perimeter of the mattress and in the center to improve the edge support and provide a bit of zoned support. Both the Winkbed and the Nolah Evolution have a different model that's designed for heavier people. The Winkbed is usually a bit more affordable after discount than the Nolah Evolution, but not by much.Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress FAQs Is Nolah mattress safe? All of the foams used in this bed are Certa-PUR US certified. This means it's free of ozone depleting chemicals and other chemicals like formaldehyde, so it's perfectly safe. Show more Is the Nolah Evolution Hybrid mattress firm? This mattress is available in three different firmness options, including a medium-firm option, which is adequately firm for many sleepers. Show more Does Nolah have a return fee? Yes. If you decide to return a Nolah mattress within the 120-night trial period, $99 will be deducted from your refund. Show more

No AGI But A Killer App - 2025 AI Prediction (1/10)
This is 1/10 AI predictions for 2025. AGI and the Singularity have been hot topics in AI, sparking both fear and excitement. Sam Altman even recently predicted AGI would arrive in 2025, and Elon Musk 2026. Bold are more about hype than reality. In 2025, there will be no AGI but Large Language Models will find their Killer App.What are AGI and the Singularity?AGI (Artificial General Intelligence): This refers to an advanced AI that can think, learn, and solve problems across a wide range of tasks, just like a human. The Singularity: This is the idea of AI surpassing human intelligence, improving itself endlessly, and causing massive, unpredictable changes in society. My prediction: we wont see any of this in 2025. Lets dig into the technology to understand why we are not even close.Sentence Completion is Not Intelligence or AGIGenerative AI, like OpenAIs GPT models, can hold human-like conversations. That sounds amazing. But it is limited to spotting and repeating patterns. ChatGPT and similar systems are based on so called Large Language Models. They work by predicting the most statistically probable next word or token based on their training data. One example:Input: Life is like a box ofPrediction: chocolates (thanks to Forrest Gump). This isnt real understandingits just pattern matching. Generative AI doesnt consider other options like box of surprises. It might seem intelligent because it can give polished responses, but its no more self-aware than a chess computer that doesnt care if it loses a game.We have heard a lot about AGI but it wont happen in 2025.No AGI in 2025OpenAIs "o1": isnt that the first step for AGI?MORE FOR YOUNo, its not. Lets see what it is. OpenAIs O1, released in 2024, does not directly answer a given question. Instead, it creates a plan to determine the best way to answer it. It then critiques its response, improves it, and continues refining. This chained output is truly impressive.Lets critique the statement: 'Life is like a box of chocolates.'Clich Factor: Overused.Limited Scope: Focuses solely on unpredictability.Cultural Bias: May not resonate universally. Not bad... Based on this critique, the AI can now craft an improved sentence.2025 will see many of those chains but not AGII recently launched an eCornell online course to train students to think about products using AI and data. To make this rather technical AI and product course accessible as a no-code course, I created the same iterative process as we see with o1.First, students formulate the product concept (plan).Next, the AI tool generates code autonomously (generation).During runtime, errors may arise (test). The AI tool then critiques its own output (critique) and iteratively refines it.The innovation lies in OpenAI's ability to pass through this loop multiple times to enhance the answer. But is this intelligence? No. Its a fixed framework and not dynamic. Neither is this approach scalable. The more critique cycles you allow the model, the more facets of the problem it can address, but this comes at the cost of increased time.Dont get me wrong. O1 is amazing but it as well highlights the fundamental technological challenge we face in the quest to achieve AGI.The Barriers to get to AGIHumans can think fast and instinctively (System 1) or slowly and logically (System 2). AI only works through patterns, missing this balance.AI struggles with context and often misses important details humans pick up naturally.Current AI builds outputs on previous ones (called autoregressive models), so mistakes can snowball. Many researchers believe that much of this might be fixable. When? 2050? 2030? .. but not this year. What Will Happen in 2025?In 2025, well see more narrow AI solutions integrated into chains similar to OpenAIs "o1" approach. These systems will be designed to excel at specific tasks and, when combined, will enhance productivity and surpass human performance in many areas. This development will be exciting, but its important to emphasize that these advancements will not constitute AGI. Focusing on the real risks and opportunities of AI, rather than getting sidetracked by AGI debates, and whether AGI will replace us. See here a quick video about my view. In short: it wont. And whats now with Sams Claim of AGI?Its mostly marketing. Big, bold claims grab attention. The promise of AGI grabs attention. Tomorrow, Ill share my next prediction for 2025, which focuses on the biggest application of large language models. Sams prediction might seem over-the-top, but its the right strategy for what I see as the biggest application or the so called Killer Application. Stay tuned.Follow me on here on Forbes or on LinkedIn for more of my 2025 AI predictions.

Beats Studio Pro (Kim Edition) Review: Fashion Outshines Function
Beats Studio Pro with color-matching accessories for Beats x Kim EditionPrakhar KhannaThe Beats Studio Pro headphones were launched in 2023 and received a makeover with the Kim Kardashian special edition in August 2024. They are priced at the same $350 / INR 37,900significantly less than the Apple AirPods Maxbut face fiercer competition than in 2023.The 2024 Beats x Kim Studio Pro headphones follow the 2022 Kim Kardashian special-edition Fit Pro launch, which initially sold out on Apple.com. However, the new Beats headphones arrive at a time when the 2023 model has dropped to $200 on Amazon.com and seen even lower prices during holiday sales. Are the Beats Studio Pro still worth buying with competitors like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, Sonos Ace, and Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones costing similar or less?Stylish Design And Good ControlsBeats Studio Pro controlsPrakhar KhannaThe Beats x Kim edition of the Studio Pro headphones come in Kardashian's "signature" neutral color options: Moon, Dune, and Earth. I have the Earth variant, which has a chocolaty appearance, while Moon and Dune are light and medium shades, respectively. Apart from the new makeover, the design remains unchanged. The headphones include color-matching accessories such as a soft case and two cables for charging and wired listening.MORE FOR YOUThe Beats Studio Pro (Kim Edition) are among the few flagship headphones with foldable earcups. However, the single-hinge design prevents them from folding flat. The hinge produces a clicking sound when folded, but the experience doesn't feel premium.Beats Studio Pro single-hinge designPrakhar KhannaCompared to the competition, the Bose, Sony, and Sonos headphones have a more refined build, with the Sonos Ace standing out as the most elegant in white. Additionally, the Sonos and Bose headphones are more comfortable on my ears, while the earpads on both Sony and Beats tend to heat up quickly. The Beats Studio Pro have a comfortable headband that isnt too tight and exerts less clamping force than the Sony XM5s. Weighing 260 grams, they can be worn for about an hour before the earpads become uncomfortable. If you live in a colder environment, the experience is likely to be better.I prefer buttons over gestures and these headphones have physical controls. The left earcup has a large b button for play/pause and activating the voice assistant, while volume controls are integrated above and below the b button. On the right earcup, theres a multifunctional button for power, pairing, and ANC control. The Type-C port can be used to connect to the PC and you can choose the default sound profile as needed from music, entertainment, and phone calls. They also feature the classic 3.5mm headphone jack.Beats Studio Pro Are Upgraded but Lack One Critical FeatureBeats Studio Pro connected to the iPhone 16 ProPrakhar KhannaThe Beats Studio Pro are designed for both Android and iOS, featuring a custom Beats chip instead of Apples H1 or H2 chips. They support Googles Fast Pair, multipoint connectivity, and Bluetooth 5.3.With Android, pairing is seamless if youre signed into the same Gmail account across devices. For example, youll get a notification of saved devices to pair them without entering the pairing mode physically. On iOS, the headphones link to your iCloud account but lack automatic device switching, unlike AirPods. Youll have to manually switch between devices on iOS.While Find My is supported on both platforms, Spatial Audio and hands-free Siri are exclusive to iOS. On Android, voice assistant activation requires a long press of the b button, as Hey Google or Hey Gemini commands are unsupported.A notable drawback is the lack of on-ear detection sensors, meaning music doesnt pause when you take the headphones offa feature expected at this price point and offered by all major competitors.Beats Studio Pro PerformanceBeats Studio Pro (Kim Edition) in Earth variantPrakhar KhannaThe Beats Studio Pro feature 40mm drivers with a dual-layer design, delivering better sound quality than their predecessor. They are more forward-sounding than Sony, Bose, or Sonos headphones. The Studio Pro offer aggressive bass and strong highs, which might feel overpowering at times. The mids are comparatively weak, lacking depth in instrument separation. While I didnt experience listening fatigue, the sound quality isnt top-tier. I still prefer the Sonos and Bose headphones for their better vocals and instrument separation and Sony for a richer feature set.Switching to USB-C mode enhances audio with support for 24-bit/48-kHz resolution on Apple Music or Tidal. Even Spotify tracks sound better in this mode. Additionally, three EQ presetsBeats Signature Sound, Entertainment, and Conversationare available in USB-C mode. The headphones come with six microphones for noise cancellation and voice calling. The active noise cancellation (ANC) is good but not exceptional. You get decent passive noise isolation, thanks to the earpads. Its suitable for everyday use, such as in cafes, where they drown out the public chatter conveniently. However, they dont match the performance of Sony, Bose, or Sonos headphones.Battery life is rated at 24 hours with ANC on and 40 hours with ANC off, which is decent but not on par with the competition.Beats Studio Pro (Kim Edition) Review: VerdictBeats Studio Pro (Kim Edition)Prakhar KhannaAt $350 / INR 37,900, Beats Studio Pro are expensive for what they offer. The absence of auto-pause is a significant drawback, and they dont excel in any particular area, though they tick most feature boxes. If you want the best-sounding and most comfortable pair of headphones, you should consider the Bose QuietComfort Ultra or Sonos Ace. For top-tier noise cancellation, you should go for Bose or Sony WH-1000XM5, and consider the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphones for a more balanced sound. However, if youre looking for a pair of Bluetooth headphones compatible with both Apple and Android that deliver decent sound, good noise cancellation, and excellent call quality, the Beats Studio Pro are a solid choice. The USB-C mode enhances the audio performance, and the Earth variant of the Kim Edition makes a stylish statement.Pros:Excellent call qualityGreat sound in USB-C modeHands-free Siri and spatial audio for Apple devicesFoldable earcup designCons:No auto-pauseExpensive for what it offers
