WWW.ZDNET.COMEvery new laptop Lenovo announced at CES 2025: Including its wild 'rollable' modelKerry Wan/ZDNETAt CES 2025, Lenovo came in hot with over 60 new product announcements, including a laptop with a rollable display, a sleek and lightweight ThinkPad (that resembles a MacBook more than a ThinkPad), and some exciting proof of concepts that showcase some wild ideas going on behind the scenes. Also: ZDNET joins CNET Group to award the Best of CES, and you can submit your entry nowThe meat of the product announcements, however, come from updates and refreshes across the company's sprawling laptop lineup, including new Yoga and Yoga Book devices, a few new tablets, and a handful of desktop and all-in-one models. Here's a broad overview of what was just announced.Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable Laptop Kyle Kucharski/ZDNETLenovo's "rollable" laptop first debuted two years at CES as a prototype model, but is now in the company's product pipeline, expected to be commercially available as early as Q1 2025, and it's actually more practical than I initially assumed. So what about it is rollable? It's not the keyboard (as I initially thought), it's the display. You press a button (or use a gesture) and the screen extends from a standard 14-inch screen to one that measures 16.7 inches. When you bring it back down, it rolls up underneath the keyboard and becomes a normal-looking laptop again. When it's fully extended, you gain a lot of screen real estate -- just enough I would say to compete with connecting to a monitor. But the vertical extension results in a display in a portrait format, as opposed to the standard landscape format you'd get on an external monitor. The price, however, is where practicality steps in. Lenovo listed a suggested retail of $3,499, which would relegate this model to a high-end, niche productivity consumer.Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14-inch and 15-inch Aura Edition Kerry Wan/ZDNETOne of the most striking laptops Lenovo announced is the ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition 14 and 15, which take a departure from other ThinkPad designs with a different, sleeker form factor. Powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, the latest additions to Lenovo's ongoing Aura Edition lineup come with Thunderbolt 4 ports, support for Wi-Fi 7, and brilliant OLED displays that exude a sophisticated power. The bottom of the laptops feature a unique, rather industrial grooved design and a solid bar that runs the length of the device that Lenovo is calling the "engine hub". It's where the ports are located, but also the fans, allowing for the device to be raised slightly when placed on a surface. This design essentially consolidates components in one place instead of resulting in an overall thicker form factor. Kyle Kucharski/ZDNETThe ThinkPad X9 comes in both a 14- and 15-inch configuration, but they look actually like very different devices. Both, however, are geared toward the modern hybrid worker that wants a high-performing laptop that's durable and ultraportable. For me, the combination of the OLED screen, the haptic trackpad, and the 32GB of RAM on an ultraportable makes this pretty close to a picture-perfect work laptop.Lastly, I'm glad to see an expansion of the Aura Edition features, with the Smart Care going live on the ThinkPad X9 laptops. This feature gives users access to 24/7 live support through a chat, where the support team can access system diagnostic information to troubleshoot problems. Security questions aside, this is probably the most useful feature from the Aura Edition devices so far.Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i Kyle Kucharski/ZDNETI went hands-on with the Yoga Slim 7x last year and it was easily one of my favorite work devices for its snappy performance and 3K OLED display. The latest addition to the line includes the Yoga Slim 9i, which features the first "camera under display" design, which as it implies, hides the webcam underneath the screen, eliminating the need for a raised notch. Note that it does still have a raised component on the top of the screen, but it's almost entirely flush, making the 14-inch display look slightly larger than it is.Also: The best Lenovo laptops of 2025: Expert tested and reviewedPhysically, the Yoga Slim 9i has an ultra-glossy, mirror-like glass finish in a unique teal color, with a keyboard in the same color and brilliant OLED display. It's also quite portable, weighing just 2.62 pounds. Its feature set is rounded out with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and will run for around $1,849, starting in February of 2025. Kyle Kucharski/ZDNETHere's the rest of the Yoga and IdeaPad lineup:Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i 16-inch: Armed with a 2.8K OLED display and Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, this model is Lenovo's powerhouse productivity machine with an 84Wh battery and extended I/O selection.Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2-in-1 14-inch and 16-inch: The convertible Copilot+ in both sizes has a 2.8K OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 70Wh battery. Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition 14-inch: The Intel version of the Slim 7x, the Aura Edition features a light silver colorway instead of the Snapdragon's dark blue aesthetic. The 2.8K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate is just as brilliant, however, getting up to 1100-nit brightness for peak HDR content and weighing just 2.7 pounds. Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14-inch: The convertible Yoga 9i gets its own Aura Edition, which brings features like Smart Modes, Smart Share, and Smart Care to the 2-in-1 form factor. Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 14-inch: The 2025 version of the dual-screen creator's dream machine comes with a (much-needed) larger 88Wh battery and 120Hz variable refresh rate for the pair of 14-inch OLED displays. It also supports Lenovo's Air Gestures, which allow the user to swap between windows, scroll, or capture screenshots with programmable hand gestures. New Lenovo Tablets Kyle Kucharski/ZDNETLenovo Yoga Tab Plus: Armed with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform processor with 20 TOPS NPU, the Yoga Tab Plus has a 3K, 144Hz display and Harman Kardon speakers, making it especially geared toward entertainment. It can also be paired with Lenovo's Tab Pen Pro and accompanying keyboard, both of which are sold separately. The Yoga Tab Plus will be available as soon as January 2025 and start at $699.Lenovo Idea Tab Pro: Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, this adaptable 10.1-inch tablet is a lightweight device designed for everyday use. It'll be available in April 2025, starting around $349.Lenovo Tab: Lenovo's smallest, entry-level tablet starts at $159 and will be available in June 2025.Featured reviews0 Comments 0 Shares 27 Views

WWW.FORBES.COM4 Steam Deck Competitors To Watch For In 2025The Legion Go S is a strong Stream Deck alternativeLenovoThe Steam Deck has been the best handheld gaming PC for the past couple of years, but its facing strong competition in 2025. Not least from companies using Valves own SteamOS on their own hardware for the first time. Here at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, several companies have announced new handheld gaming PCs that will give the Steam Deck a run for its money. Here are the Steam Deck competitors to look for in the year ahead.Lenovo Legion Go SThe Lenovo Legion Go S has a version running SteamOSLenovoThe Lenovo Legion Go S will come in two versions: the white Windows-based version you see pictured at the top of this article, and the dark purple version show above, which is the first third-party hardware to run on the same operating system as the Steam Deck, SteamOS.SteamOS is an operating system absolutely geared for gaming, with the entire interface optimized for the joystick/touchscreen controls. Its also a more lightweight, nimble Linux-based OS than Windows 11.MORE FOR YOUThe downside is that it doesnt have the full breadth of games compatibility that Windows offers. Neither is it as flexible if you want the handheld to double as a desktop PC.Both the Windows and SteamOS versions of the Legion Go S will share the same internals: an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go or Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, up to 32GB of 7500MHz DDR5 RAM and various storage options. In my experience, the Steam Deck offers much better battery life than any of the Windows handhelds Ive tested, but Lenovo insists battery life will be roughly the same whether you choose Windows or SteamOS here.In my brief tests at CES 2025, the device felt great in the hand and the 8in 120Hz display looked sharp. Note, however, that it doesnt have the detachable controllers that Lenovo pioneered with the first version of the Legion Go (see below), so if a joystick/button break youre going to have to send the entire unit back for repair. The Windows version of the Legion Go S will start from $729.99 when it goes on sale this month, with a $599.99 version arriving in May. The SteamOS version will start from $499, but its not arriving until May either.Acer Nitro Blaze 11The Acer Nitro Blaze 11 is a huge handheld with an 11in screenBarry CollinsIf youve been put off buying a handheld PC because the screens just too small, Acer has weighed in with a huge alternative. The Acer Nitro Blaze 11 has a whopping 10.95in IPS display with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. Its a huge device to hold think an iPad with controllers strapped to either side but its not crazy heavy, weighing in at a shade over 1kg.The sheer size of the Blaze 11 obviously affects its portability this isnt something you can easily slip into a rucksack but if youre using it predominately around the home, the extra screen space could broaden the range of games youre able to play on your handheld. Its a Windows-based device with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, an AMD Radeon 780M graphics chip and 16GB of DDR5 RAM. I wasn't able to play games with it during my brief time with the device at CES 2025, so its a matter of wait and see to find out how the hardware copes with the extra screen resolution.Given the amount of space available on either side of the display, its disappointing that Acer hasnt included a trackpad among the controls, meaning youre relying on Windows 11s frustrating touchscreen controls. The controllers arent detachable either, making it less attractive to use a desktop PC.The Blaze 11 goes on sale in North America in Q2, starting at $1,099. Theres an 8in version too, which starts from $899.Lenovo Legion Go 2The original Legion Go was the best of the Windows gaming handhelds in my opinion. The detachable controllers, the kickstand on the back of the device and its decent performance elevated it above rivals.Lenovo is now launching a second generation of the device, although it wont rock up until later this year.We werent even allowed to turn on the prototype that was on display at CES 2025, but Lenovo hasnt strayed far from the original formula. It still has those detachable controllers either side of the 8.8in display, although this time the screen is upgraded to an 144Hz OLED with 500 nits of maximum brightness. It will use the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and offer up to 32GB of DDR5 memory, so we should see a performance boost. Various configurations will come with up to 2TB of storage.Pricing and exact launch date are still under wraps.Razer PC Remote Play with Razer Kishi UltraStream your PC gaming to your mobile with Razer's comboRazerThis isnt a handheld gaming PC as such, but a way to turn your gaming PC and smartphone into one.The Razer Kishi Ultra released in 2024 provides a snap-on controller for iPhones and Android smartphones. It feels much better in the hand than previous Kishis, helping to avoid the cramp that its smaller predecessors could induce after a few minutes of gameplay. At CES 2025, Razer announced PC Remote Play, a free app for Windows and your phone, which allows you to stream games hosted on the PC to the mobile device.Razer claims its software has advantages over other such streaming apps, namely that it automatically adjusts the resolution to suit the phone, avoiding ugly black bars, and that it makes it much simpler to launch games from the smartphone. In my brief tests using an iPhone 15 Pro Max at CES, streaming performance was acceptable, although there were a few dropped frames and occasional input lag. Bear in mind that this was in a tech-laden room in a hotel suite, however. The Razer PC Remote Play app will be free for anyone to use. The Razer Kishi Ultra costs around $150, although the app will work with any mobile controller or even from PC to PC.0 Comments 0 Shares 32 Views

WWW.TECHSPOT.COMAMD's Ryzen AI Max+ brings monstrous 40-core GPU, unified memory to laptopsIn brief: AMD came out swinging at CES 2025 in Las Vegas with its new 'Strix Halo' Ryzen AI Max+ mobile processors. Boasting impressive specifications, these chips seem primed to dominate the competition in the thin-and-light gaming laptop and AI workstation markets. The lineup includes four models: Ryzen AI Max+ 395/Pro, Ryzen AI Max 390/Pro, Ryzen AI Max 385/Pro, and Ryzen AI Max 380 Pro. At the top of the lineup is the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, featuring 16 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores, and support for up to 128GB of shared RAM. One step below is the Ryzen AI Max+ 390, equipped with 12 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. Following that is the Ryzen AI Max+ 385, offering eight CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. Lastly, the Ryzen AI Max Pro 380, designed with professional users in mind, includes six CPU cores, 16 GPU cores, and enhanced security and manageability features. All models feature a 55W base TDP, configurable between 45W and 120W to accommodate more robust cooling solutions. Built on a cutting-edge 3nm process, the chips utilize a design where the CPU cores are distributed across two smaller chiplets, while the GPU and AI engines reside on a larger central I/O die. They also support up to 128GB of unified memory, with up to 96GB available for graphics a feature AMD emphasizes as crucial for seamless multitasking and handling "incredibly large AI models."The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 stands out thanks to its impressive graphics specs, boasting a 40-core RDNA 3.5 integrated GPU known as the Radeon 8060S. According to AMD, this is the fastest integrated GPU available in any Windows laptop.AMD claims the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is up to 1.4x faster than Intel's top Lunar Lake Core Ultra 9 288V chip in gaming performance. For AI workloads, AMD asserts it can deliver up to 2.2x higher performance than Nvidia's desktop RTX 4090 GPU, while consuming just 87 percent of the power. While gaming remains a focal point, AMD is positioning the Ryzen AI Max+ APUs as versatile powerhouses for demanding workloads like video rendering, 3D modeling, data analytics, and more. According to AMD's content creation benchmarks, these chips show substantial performance gains over Apple's latest M4 Pro processors in popular render engines like V-Ray, Blender, and Corona. However, Cinebench scores reveal slightly less impressive, though still competitive, results.Naturally, vendor-provided benchmarks should always be taken with a grain of salt. However, if these processors can achieve performance levels even approaching AMD's claims, they have the potential to be game-changing releases. // Related StoriesThe new Ryzen AI Max+ chips are expected to debut in laptops from AMD's OEM partners starting in Q1 and Q2 of 2025.0 Comments 0 Shares 32 Views

WWW.TECHSPOT.COMMicrosoft declares 2025 "the year of the Windows 11 refresh" in latest bid to leave Windows 10 behindFacepalm: Do you know what 2025 is? It's the "Year of the Windows 11 PC refresh," at least according to Microsoft. With Windows 10's end-of-support date around nine months away, the Redmond firm is going all out to try and convince people to move to Windows 11, preferably by purchasing a Copilot+ PC. Now that Microsoft's "year of the AI PC," or 2024, as it's better known is over, the company has declared that 2025 really should be the year that you upgrade your Windows 10 PC to a Windows 11-supporting computer.Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft's Executive Vice President and consumer chief marketing officer, writes that one of the most important pieces of technology consumers will look to refresh in 2025 isn't the refrigerator, the television, or their mobile phone; it will be their Windows 10 PC. It's hard to imagine many people with 20-year-old refrigerators agreeing with him on that one.Mehdi makes some other bold statements, including "Windows 11 is available at a time when the world needs it most" and that "the forefront of AI innovation will be realized on Windows."Mehdi heavily pushes Microsoft's AI offerings in the lengthy post, mentioning Copilot no less than 14 times. Copilot has made several headlines at CES after it was revealed the AI assistant has been integrated into upcoming TVs from LG and Samsung. We'll have to wait and see just how useful this feature proves to be.Microsoft would obviously prefer those upgrading their PCs to opt for a Copilot+ one. Mehdi writes that these are up to five times faster than the most popular 5-year-old Windows PCs still in use today and top models are up to 58% faster than a MacBook Air with M3. // Related StoriesMicrosoft's campaign to push people onto Windows 11 hasn't been a rousing success. Most Windows 10 users hate the intrusive, full-screen pop-up nags, made worse by the most recent version that sometimes crashes when it opens. Not what Satya Nadella wants to seeWindows 10 reaches its end-of-support date on October 14, meaning no more security updates after this point unless you pay for them. Nevertheless, Windows 10's global user share increased to 62.7% over the last two months as Windows 11's fell to 34.1% though more Steam survey participants seem to prefer the newer OS.Citing IDC data, Mehdi writes that nearly 80% of businesses are planning to refresh their PC portfolio by the end of 2025, and 70% of consumers will refresh their PCs in the next two years. In related news, security experts warn that the end of support for Windows 10 could put most Windows devices at risk, not to mention the software and hardware compatibility issues.0 Comments 0 Shares 32 Views

WWW.TECHSPOT.COMUgreen's 500W charger can juice up 5 laptops at the same time - even e-bikesIn a nutshell: Ugreen has taken the wraps off the new Nexode Desktop Charger 500W. With a maximum 500-watt output, this thing can simultaneously juice up not just your typical mobile devices, but multiple power-hungry laptops at the same time and even e-bikes. The previous generation of this particular charger topped out at 300 watts the company's highest but the new Nexode bumps that up significantly to 500 watts. The brick packs a total of six ports: 5 USB-C and 1 USB-A. And get this the main USB-C port can deliver an insane 240 watts all by itself. The other USB ports will share the remaining 260W load however you need, though they cannot exceed 100W.The sheer power of this power bank means it can juice up up to five laptops charged up at the same time. You could use it to charge a power-hungry gaming laptop at 240 watts, two more at 100 watts each, and another couple of lower-wattage laptops at 60 watts, for example. The brick measures 5.75 inches wide, 4.51 inches tall, and 2.39 inches deep. It tips the scales at a whopping 1.8 kilograms, or about 4 pounds. With that in mind, it seems geared toward users with a desktop workspace, whether that's at home or office. While rewarding, traveling with another couple of kilos in your backpack certainly won't be easy.Beyond these highlights, the Nexode supports USB Power Delivery 3.1 and Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 standards for fast-charging compatible devices. The fastest ports can quick-charge laptops, while the rest split the remaining wattage for phones, accessories, and more. // Related StoriesUgreen calls the Nexode Desktop Charger the "world's first" 500-watt GaN charger for office settings and multi-device users. The only missing bit, we'd say, is a screen to help you get your head around all that wattage and keep track of the right port to use. There's no final pricing yet, but the Nexode Desktop Charger 500W is slated to go on sale sometime in March 2025, for now it's available to pre-order from the Ugreen website.0 Comments 0 Shares 31 Views
