Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track to launch in Fall 2025, despite the lack of a new trailer or updates from the development team. Given the current pricing of triple-A video games, a $70 price tag is a given. But how about $80 or even $100?Whether Rockstar or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, opt for this approach is unknown, but Epyllion analyst Matthew Ball believes it could remove a key price barrier. In his State of Video Gaming in 2025 report under How Player, Playertime, and Player Spend Might Return to Growth, he notes theres hope in the industry for Take-Two to price GTA 6 at $80 or even $100. It will seemingly enable the rest of the market to follow suit.Though no player hopes for such a hike, Ball believes its inevitable, noting the low cost of games when factoring in inflation. Meanwhile, video game budgets are at all-time highs. While the overall budget of Grand Theft Auto 6 is unknown, the likes of Horizon Forbidden West and Marvels Spider-Man 2 cost $212 million and $315 million. For every title that succeeds, there are failures like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which contributed to a $200 million impact on revenue for Warner Bros.Time will ultimately tell, so stay tuned. TikTok has returned at least partially in the US following a nationwide ban, but other popular ByteDance-owned apps, such as the digital card game Marvel Snap, video editing app CapCut, and the social platform Lemon8, are still blocked. None of these apps, including TikTok, are currently available to download on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, either.Though many users expected CapCut and Lemon8 to be affected by the law banning TikTok, Marvel Snaps ban took some by surprise including its own developer. "I'm not sure how it happened, but I am freaking out. So please get here."As it turns out, Hunter had Tesla's misleadingly called "Full Self-Driving" driver-assistance feature turned on, making it yet another instance of Tesla owners being lulled into a false sense of security by the techbefore an entirely avoidable tragedy struck.According to NPR, Hunter spent more than a minute without his hands on the steering wheel before the crash, admitting to police that he had been "distracted" by his phone.Unpaid AttentionTesla's FSD driver assistance software has been under heavy scrutiny by regulators for quite a few years now, spawning several government investigations.Despite FSD and its overarching software suite Autopilot being linked to hundreds of crashes and dozens of deaths, Tesla is still allowed to have its customers test out the software on public roads.Most recently, the company released an oxymoronically-named update called "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)." According to independent testing, the software still causes cars to run red lights, swerve across double yellow lines, or suddenly stop without warning.Meanwhile, Tesla maintains that its flawed software is safer on the whole than human drivers, with executives railing against regulatory crash report requirements which the incoming Trump administration is expected to gut.Regulators, however, are clear that customers are getting the wrong idea and quite literally handing over the controls, even when they're instructed by Tesla not to in large part thanks to Tesla's misleading marketing of its driver-assistance software."The drivers would see a car that's doing pretty good," former National Highway Traffic Safety Administration adviser and George Mason University robotics professor Missy Cummings told NPR. "They get a false sense of security, and they don't understand that they should be paying attention."Tesla CEO Elon Musk has promised that the company will be moving on to testing an "unsupervised" version of FSD as soon as this year. "Now that the law has taken effect, theres no legal basis for any kind of extension of its effective date. The law includes a 20% cap for foreign adversary owners, so its not immediately clear whether ByteDance could exceed that ownership share without a change in the law.The law defines controlled by a foreign adversary in several different ways, but one definition is: an entity with respect to which a foreign person or combination of foreign persons ... directly or indirectly own at least a 20 percent stake.Congress, of course, could change the law.
