Inspired by desert race, ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition pop-up camper is off-roading genius
Most advancements happening in the camper industry, of late directly or indirectly hint at pushing the boundaries of off-road and off-grid camping. If it were true for the manufacturers in the US, the idea has touched an Australian builder most fiercely. Perhaps so much so that the Queensland-based Patriot Campers (a recognizable name Im sure) has designed and developed the ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition pop-up camper that blows the boundaries of off-road camping in desert dust.Claimed to be the most advanced camper trailer in the world, the special edition ST5 Supertourer Finke is a premium (and feature-rich) variant of the standard version by the manufacturer. Its name is derived from Australias iconic Finke Desert Race and the construction is apt to overcome the most challenging terrains.Designer: Patriot CampersThe special Finke edition doesnt borrow the name for the heck of it. In fact, the brains behind Patriot Campers have been involved in the namesake off-road racing for over a decade. The new camper is therefore a consortium of their learning from the extensive involvement in off-roading competition and touring expertise. The wholesome rig with all its merits was launched by Patriot Campers at the 2024 SEMA automotive show in Las Vegas. The ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition camper is a versatile living quarter on the road with robust riding antics and lightweight body parts. The camper is built with a combination of composite and structural aluminum and has a black canvas pop-out roof. The exterior pops with the green and white color scheme, carbon fiber decals, bronze-colored wheels and 35-in mud tires. The sports car-esque interior equipped with black Alcantara and green upholstery strikes plush at first sight. Carbon fiber table and benchtops in the living area, and bronze basin tap in the bathroom complete the look. With what you get, the ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition is not any ordinary camping trailer. Hybrid by virtue, it complements performance and comfort and is designed thoroughly for off-road adventures with a Trinamic suspension system and 17-in rims featuring Method Wheelss beadgrip technology for lowering tire pressures while negotiating rough terrains. The exterior of the camper makes more living space with an awning on either side, while a pull-out kitchen facilitates cooking savory meals where your journey takes you.The post Inspired by desert race, ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition pop-up camper is off-roading genius first appeared on Yanko Design.

Split box cutter concept has a neat trick for keeping spare or dull blades
Box cutters, or simply cutters, are a common sight in any office or workshop. The basic design hasnt changed much over the years, with the most common style using a long segmented blade where you can snap off a section when it has become dull. This simple design, almost like a stackable push-point pencil, offers an efficient mode of operation, but not without its drawbacks. One big problem is that the actual section of the blade you can actively use might be too small since you cant push it out too much or it will snap and break if you apply too much pressure. A single, unbroken blade might still be the most stable design, but its also the most wasteful. This concept tries to find a middle ground by employing a rather unorthodox design for a box cutter.Designer: ZOZ WorksGiven how you need to have a secure and firm hold on a cutting tool, you might presume that you need a large unibody handle design. As small EDC knives and cutters have proven, however, thats necessarily the case. And just because something comes in parts that can be separated doesnt mean that it will be structurally unsound and unreliable.Split is a concept that uses these ideas to design a cutter that can split into two halves. It isnt just a gimmick, though, as the upper half houses the currently active blade while the other half holds spare blades or blades you have removed but have yet to throw away. It suggests a box cutter thats still self-sufficient yet more efficient than current designs, at least in theory. The cutter still uses a retractable mechanism to deploy the blade, but you will have a larger blade to work with. This means you can push it out further without worrying that the blade will break along its segment when applying force. At the same time, you still just have a short blade, so you dont need to throw a long blade should it become dull. The Split box cutter concept houses those replacement or used blades in the lower half. The concept doesnt exactly mention it, but you might be able to store more than one blade there. The blades seem to be clamped down to keep them from moving inside, and a simple screw loosens or tightens the cover. The one disadvantage to this design is that you might need some other object or your fingernail to turn that screw. The cutter concept has a rather asymmetrical design when the two halves are connected, with one part extending a bit further than the other. This imbalance almost creates a jimping part or at least a finger rest, allowing you to hold the cutter with a firmer and more confident grip. The post Split box cutter concept has a neat trick for keeping spare or dull blades first appeared on Yanko Design.

AI-powered machine concept helps you sort and dispose of waste properly
According to studies, almost 83% of our every day garbage is not sorted and recycled. That means a lot of it is just thrown into landfills and most of them just stay there rotting for years, maybe even decades. If we are able to properly sort them properly, even just a small percentage, and dispose of them in a more circular manner, including recycling and upcycling, then it will be better for our planet. The problem sometimes though is that people and even machines still dont know how to sort and recycle properly. Designer Name: Romain PellatWith the advent of robotics and A.I, our garbage disposal should be better. This is what Binko aims to do. It is an AI-powered recycling robot that should help homes and offices to improve the way they do their waste disposal. It is able to auto-recognize the different kinds of garbage, sort them properly, and then crush them accordingly. The concept device looks like a vendo machine but instead of it giving you your drink or snack of choice, you feed it your garbage. The machine and the accompanying app should be able to recognize more than 2.6 million waste items. Then it will compress or crush the garbage into small pieces and is able to hold an average of 8 times more resources. The system is able to sort it into one of the 7 transparent compartments that can be adapted according to location. The app will be the first to launch and it can immediately help people into recognizing how to sort their garbage using the AI-powered photo recognition process. It also gives you a map of nearby recycling bins and even reminds you to take out your trash. That in itself is useful even as Binko will probably take more time to be created. The post AI-powered machine concept helps you sort and dispose of waste properly first appeared on Yanko Design.

For Me Buds: The Travel TWS Earbuds That Double as an AI-Powered Sleep Monitor
The TWS Earbud market is absolutely flooded with products right now. Go to Amazon or even Temu and you wont find hundreds of smart earbuds, youll find hundreds of thousands of them all in the Audio category. The For Me Buds are probably the only ones that would fit in a Wellness category instead. Designed to be the first health-focused earbuds, the For Me Buds are perhaps the only sleep-monitoring earbuds on the market. They come from Sleepwave, a team of former LG engineers dedicated to developing a sleep-health-centric ecosystem of products. The For Me Buds are a set of ANC earbuds designed for people who need help with fixing or optimizing their sleep schedule. The buds were predominantly designed for travelers, who often see the highest amount of sleep routine disruption over a day-to-day basis, but the earbuds are made for general light sleepers too. Aside from being worn during the day to listen to audio, the For Me Buds are designed to be worn while asleep too. Set up your sleep routine, put the buds in, and they perform real-time sleep monitoring.Designer: SleepwaveClick Here to Buy Now: $99 $179 (45% off). Hurry, only 2334 units left! Raised over $173,000.The buds analyze your sleep and provide personalized sound tailored to the user, while AI monitors sleep quality and adjusts performance in real-time. A built-in PPG sensor and motion sensor work in tandem to analyze heart rate and other health metrics, along with body movement during sleep. Unlike smartwatches that only perform sleep analysis, the For Me Buds analyze sleep stages in real-time and provide dynamic binaural beats tailored to each stage. Their unique design as in-ear earbuds offers the added advantage of delivering personalized sound to enhance sleep quality. Additionally, the companion app utilizes AI to analyze your sleep and provide feedback to help improve your sleep patterns.Sleepwaves patented DB Beats(Dynamic Binaural Beats) technology delivers personalized sound. This technology synchronizes brainwaves by playing different frequencies in each ear that dynamically change over time. Its effectiveness has been clinically validated and published in the Oxford Sleep Journal. Beyond improving sleep quality, it also offers various modes tailored to users needs. For example, at night, the Sleep Mode helps users achieve their sleep goals, while during the day, the Refresh Mode supports relaxation or maintaining a focused state. The comfort factor is a big deal here. The earbuds are designed to be so small and lightweight that they feel almost unnoticeable, especially when your ear is pressed against a pillow. Thanks to their sleep-friendly ergonomic design, they can be worn comfortably by users lying down or sleeping on their side. Additionally, the hybrid ANC effectively blocks out external noise, creating a serene and quiet environment, whether youre on an airplane seat or in bed.Speaking of regular TWS earbuds, the For Me Buds double as those too, helping with music and playback. Given that booming audio isnt its primary focus, dont expect an extra-pumped bass or high-decibel audio with the For Me Buds. The overall output offers a balanced soundstage thats great for music, podcasts, audiobooks, etc. rather than being a one-trick pony. The earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.3, which maintains a steady connection even if youre shifting around in bed. Compatibility with both Android as well as iOS means everyone gets access to great audio and better sleep, regardless of their product ecosystem. IPx4 keeps the buds dry in most conditions, in case youre a bit of a sweaty sleeper, or you choose to wear the buds during or after workouts. The companion app lets you do more than just toggle the earbuds basic settingsit actually includes sleep-tracking capabilities that analyze your sleep duration and quality based on your listening patterns and other inputs. This isnt medical-grade data, of course, but it does give a decent snapshot of your sleep trends and patterns over time. Its a nice bonus for users who are interested in improving their sleep hygiene, as it provides some feedback without requiring a separate device like a smartwatch. And if sleep science isnt your thing, the app still lets you customize your listening experience, from volume limits to noise calibration, to make sure the For Me Buds adapt to your specific environment. The battery life is a crucial part of the sleep-friendly equation. Each charge lasts around ten hours, enough to cover a full nights sleep for most users, with the charging case holding up to 5 additional charges to keep you covered. The math checks out well: you could use them every night for almost a week without needing to find an outlet, or alternatively, charge them just once during the day if you plan on using them for sleep as well as things like music, meetings, etc. A USB-C port helps the buds case to charge, or alternatively, support for wireless charging means you can place the case on any charging mat to juice up the battery.Although the market for sleep earbuds is incredibly niche, it isnt what the For Me Buds is pitching. The For Me Buds is more of an earbud that does a better job at sleep monitoring than your smartwatch, making it a great hybrid device to have on you instead of earbuds AND a fitness bracelet. The earbuds are obviously great for travelers who find themselves taking frequent red-eye flights, or anyone who thinks great sleep requires a little more than just a sleep-monitoring watch or mattress. Besides, the future of earbuds is clearly more than just playing audio. With the inclusion of various sensors that help track heart activity, body temperature, and even brain activity by extension, the For Me Buds are the perfect blend of audio tech and health wearable. The For Me Buds start at an affordable $99, which includes the buds and case. The companion app is free to use, offering AI features without any added cost or subscription. The For Me Buds ship globally in January 2025, and come with a 1-year warranty.Click Here to Buy Now: $99 $179 (45% off). Hurry, only 2334 units left! Raised over $173,000.The post For Me Buds: The Travel TWS Earbuds That Double as an AI-Powered Sleep Monitor first appeared on Yanko Design.

Turntable-inspired graphics card concept adds a retro-futuristic flavor to desktops
In the not-so-distant past, desktop computers were almost literal black boxes, closed and obscured from view. Although theyre still enclosed today to block the easy entry of dust and harmful particles, many desktop towers have adopted transparent designs that show everything inside. This aesthetic is mostly to appeal to gamers who dress up their rigs with RGB lights and fancy-looking cooling systems, but the majority of the hardware you can see inside is hardly aesthetic (unless you go for that look). Graphics cards are slowly getting a facelift, but they still have a more technical and geeky look. This concept tries to challenge that status quo with a GPU design that could interest even non-gaming computer users.Designer: Seunghun LeeOf all the components inside a desktop computer, at least the ones built for gaming or heavy-duty creative work, the graphics card is the bulkiest, boxiest, and most visible one. Of course, that design is intentional because of the electronics it has to pack inside as well as the large fans that keep things from overheating. Such graphics cards today come with some RGB lighting or accents to make them look a little livelier, but the overall aesthetic remains the same.G-Turn360 is a concept design that tries to add some visual appeal by taking inspiration from a completely different product. It chose the turntable, now a staple of the retro movement, as the foundation of the GPU redesign, combining mechanical elements into a more pleasing composition using basic geometric shapes. The cooling fan, after all, is already a large circle, so why not use that form to represent a record player on a box?The concept also goes beyond that simple association with the record player. It completely throws out the conventional LED lighting which, in addition to being over the top, also prevents visual consistency. In fact, the G-Turn360 embraces a lighter color scheme, which better fits desktop designs that are moving away from dark and black boxes commonly associated with gaming gear. The result is a graphics card design that somehow looks both retro and futuristic at the same time, adopting a clean aesthetic that can appeal to a more diverse audience. That said, the G-Turn360 concept could be sacrificing performance and safety with its unconventional design, so its definitely not something that can simply be used without some modification and careful engineering. The post Turntable-inspired graphics card concept adds a retro-futuristic flavor to desktops first appeared on Yanko Design.

This Grade 5 Titanium Knife Hides Two Extra Backup Blades for Unmatched Versatility
I love it when an EDC knife goes beyond the standard template to throw in a few surprises. Whether its hiding a glass-breaker into its design or having a unique opening/closing mechanism, knives that dont necessarily follow all the rules are a breath of fresh air. Take a look at the Ezsharp Titanium Knife and chances are itll look like just another ordinary knife with a scalpel blade mounted on the front. However, hit a switch on the handle and a cartridge pops out, revealing two MORE backup blades. It isnt often that you see a knife with extra blades hidden away in a secret chamber in the knifes handle, but the Ezsharp does just that. Designed to be dangerously sharp, ruthlessly efficient, and relentless, the knife packs one main blade for cutting, slicing, shopping, or whittling but just in case that blade isnt enough to get the job done, youve got two more blades ready to be locked and loaded. Pretty cool, no?!Designer: Backing TechClick Here to Buy Now: $79 $120 (34% Off) Hurry! Only 39 units left.At the heart of Ezsharps appeal is its bladea surgical-grade scalpel capable of extraordinary precision. Whether youre slicing through paper, fabric, or plastic, the knife performs with the accuracy of a craftsmans tool. The compatibility with various scalpel blades (#10, #11, #12, and #15) adds versatility, allowing you to tailor the knife to the task at hand. And when the blade loses its edge, theres no need for sharpening like youd have to with most pocket knives. Just swap out the old blade with a new one from the built-in slot housing spare bladesa feature as practical as it is innovative. The body of the knife comes machined from Grade 5 titanium, which is in itself a mark of good, durable EDC. This is a material chosen for its unique combination of strength and lightness. Weighing only 45 grams and measuring 3.15 inches, it feels feather-light in your pocket but doesnt compromise on robustness. Titaniums corrosion resistance and germproof properties mean this knife is built to last, no matter where life takes you. The CNC-machined design ensures a flawless finish, making the knife as much a statement piece as it is a utility tool. Its bead-blast grey finish exudes understated elegance, while its ergonomic contours provide a steady, comfortable grip for prolonged use.Opening the Ezsharp is seamless and should come naturally to anyone whos wielded a folding blade before. Theres a flipper that helps you quickly deploy the knife, alternatively, a finger groove in the handle lets you get your nail in and open the blade out just like your standard Swiss Army knife. A sturdy frame lock ensures it stays securely in place during use, offering the confidence of a heavy-duty tool in a sleek, compact package. Even closing the knife is hassle-free; a gentle push of the locking bar lets you fold it away with ease. The Ezsharp ditches the regular blade for a standard Scalpel blade and with good reason. Scalpel blades are notoriously sharp, are readily available, are extremely cheap, and come in a variety of shapes for different activities. Mount a scalpel blade on the Ezsharp and its a formidable cutting tool, capable of doing everything from opening boxes to whittling wood to even slashing through seatbelts and paracord. Scalpel blades come in a variety of designs, which means you can choose a profile/shape that suits your needs the best. As far as sharpness goes, theyre all dangerously capable, and are medical grade, which means you can use the knife for hunting and cooking too.Instead of worrying about sharpening your dull blade, Ezsharp sidesteps that laborious process by allowing you to simply swap out an old blade for a new one. A simple press of a resilient tab unlocks the blade for swift removal or installation. No risk to your fingers, no frustrationjust smooth, effortless efficiency. Its easy, and actually reduces waste by allowing you to swap out just the thin blade rather than ditch an old knife for a new one (lets face it, not everyone sits and sharpens their knife). The replaceable blade is also great for travel, but more on that later. The Ezsharps most impressive feature remains the hidden slot to store extra blades. Discreetly integrated into the handle, it can store up to two additional blades, secured with powerful magnets. A simple button press releases the slot for quick access. This thoughtful addition ensures youre always prepared, whether youre tackling a creative project, embarking on an outdoor adventure, or simply handling day-to-day tasks. You can store the same blade type or diversify by keeping different blade designs which you can then interchange depending on what blade profile you need. The detachable blade makes the Ezsharp perfect for travel too. Just ditch the blades and the knife is TSA-friendly and flight-ready. The blades can be stored separately in your check-in luggage (or bought at any hardware/medical store), making just the handle perfectly safe for any kind of travel. Carrying the knife around is fairly simple too, thanks to a pocket clip for traditional carrying, or a lanyard hole for strapping the Ezsharp to your backpack or even around your keychain.Beyond its practical features, Ezsharp embraces design as an art form. Its titanium body offers opportunities for stunning finishes, from anodized colors to laser-engraved patterns. The exclusive Adventurers Edition, available only to Kickstarter backers, takes this artistry to the next level with unique textures and iridescent effects. The Ezsharp starts at $79, which includes the titanium knife along with ten scalpel blades (#11 design). The colorful Adventurer edition starts at $86, if the idea of simple microtextured titanium doesnt excite you. Although theres no official warranty on the Ezsharp, its titanium construction should be more than capable of lasting decades with regular use. Just keep changing the blades and your Ezsharp should be as good as new every single time!Click Here to Buy Now: $79 $120 (34% Off) Hurry! Nike Unveils 3D printed Air Max 1000 that reimagines Air Max 1 in red laceless silhouette
Nike seems to be on a roll, innovating beyond the obvious territories. After its collaborative Monopoly Game Set with Hasbro, the Swoosh brand is now teaming up with German shoe company, Zellerfeld, to give its original Air Max a 3D printed makeover in a vibrant red laceless design.Nike Air Max 1 originally designed by Tinker Hatfield has always had a special place in our hearts for the incredible future-forward design. Easily the greatest sneaker, the Air Max is now a revolution, which has come a long way since its inception with continuous air technology innovations with every new release. This time its not the sole or regular manufacturing, in fact, its the entire thought of the shoe that will rock the show at ComplexCon 2024.Designer: NikeZellerfeld founded in 2015, is a shoe company that specializes in 3D-printing thoughtful designs. Nike collaborated with the German outfit to delve into Air Max legacy and bring out a 3D-printed re-imagination that would launch at the ComlexCon on November 16 and 17, 2024. The groundbreaking rendition of the iconic Air Max 1, the Nike Air Max 1000, showcases the evolution of air technology along with new manufacturing techniques. This combination of Air and 3D printing creates an engaging underfoot experience that according to the design team produces the same comfort and responsiveness of the original silhouette. At the foundation of this new creation of course is Nikes obsession with cushioning besides that Air band and the mudguard wave make apparent nuances that tag the 3D printed version to the original. The wavy lines forming the mudguard and the air unit in the heel do not make the Air Max 1000 much different, but the sneakers laceless design truly propels it into a new fan category delightfully pleasing in a bright red colorway. The blend of smooth and textured print in the upper half of the AM 1000, goes well with the single Swoosh banding and the carved outsole. There is no word on the price, but I believe, the sneaker is worth whatever it comes for!The post Nike Unveils 3D printed Air Max 1000 that reimagines Air Max 1 in red laceless silhouette first appeared on Yanko Design.

Economical Housing For Students Preserves Historical Facades, Merging The Old & The New
Canada-based ACDF Architectural firm recently designed an impressive 19-story apartment building in downtown Montreal. It is called the LINK Tower, and it beautifully merges contemporary architectural design with the preservation of historical Victorian facades. This forms a seamless and interesting combination of the old and the new, in the center of Shaughnessy Village. It is designed to be an innovative solution to the citys requirement for student housing. ACDF Architecture adopted a preservation-first approach, and saved three historic facades, instead of demolishing them. The Victorian facades were incorporated into the new construction.Designer: ACDF Architectural FirmACDF President, Maxime-Alexis Frappier was focused on creating a seamless dialogue between the past and the new tower. Rather than erasing the areas history, we wanted to respect it, said Frappier. The project maintains an important connection to the architectural identity of Shaughnessy Village by preserving the Victorian facades. A the same time, it meets the requirements of contemporary urban living. This initiative was complex and not economical, but it displayed respect and sensitivity for the local communitys history and heritage. The LINK Tower showcases a lovely modern contrast behind the Victorian facades. The facades are equipped with a bunch of architectural elements ranging from arched, gabled, and rectangular openings, which add a certain dynamism and personality to the dull and mundane concrete environment of Lincoln Street. Black granite frames and precast concrete heighten the composition while pairing well with the surrounding structures. The LINK Tower was created to be visually intriguing while harmoniously blending with its surroundings. It allows the past and the present to beautifully co-exist, elevating the architectural diversity of the street. The apartments arent as spacious as typical apartments, and they are a bit cramped, but according to ACDF, the design meets students needs well without feeling too restrained. It displays an efficient use of available space which reduces operating and construction costs, while also saving energy. It is equipped with 122 units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. They have all been designed to be economical and easily accessible to students. The post Economical Housing For Students Preserves Historical Facades, Merging The Old & The New first appeared on Yanko Design.

Slide Out The Bed Of This Off-Grid Tiny Home For The Ultimate Stargazing Experience In Nature
Ample was commissioned to design a lovely tiny home for the Australian tourism and events company Visit Victoria. They came up with a charming and quaint house called Stella the Stargazer. The name sounds pretty poetic, and the off-grid dwelling is quite cute too. It has a rather rustic and raw aesthetic, bringing to mind the image of a rural farm shack. But the interior is really quite comfortable, with a bed that can be pulled out to let you sleep under the stars! It is based on a triple-axle trailer and features a length of 32 feet and a width of 7.8 feet. Old sections of steel were sourced from an abandoned farm shack in rural Penshurst, Victoria and they were used to build the home. Reclaimed corrugated iron and hardwood from the same site were utilized as well, giving the tiny home a shed-like aesthetic.Designer: AmpleTo break away from the trailer footprint, we have incorporated fold-up corrugated eaves, large steel framed East-orientated glazing, and an operable gas strut window, said Ample. Through this primary aperture, our bed platform rolls out and cantilevers from the trailer base. This treehouse-like element is covered from above by the Kundig-esquewindow and protected from bugs by a mosquito net hung at points from the window frame. What makes the tiny home truly stand out is the wonderful stargazing bed! Visitors can raise the glazed wall, and pull out the bed manually, to create the most comfortable and mesmerizing under-the-stars experience. If the weather isnt right, they can simply push the bed and stay inside. As you enter the home through sliding glass doors and a deck area, you are welcomed into the kitchen. The kitchen includes a wood-burning stove that also serves as a hotplate, as well as a propane-powered stove, fridge, sink, and some shelving. Reclaimed hardwood and porthole-style windows were incorporated throughout the home, to add some interesting personality and character. An operable window offers access to the deck area, allowing you to serve food and drinks. The tiny home also includes a dining table and a living room area with a sofa. A bathroom is placed behind the kitchen, and it also showcases a shed-inspired look. It features burnished steel, copper, and brass plumbing fittings. The tiny home can run off the grid using a solar panel system and batteries. It also includes a generator that will work when needed. A rainwater collection system has also been integrated, as well as tanks to hold greywater and waste. Stella the Stargazer can be booked for around US$210 and moves around in different locations. The post Slide Out The Bed Of This Off-Grid Tiny Home For The Ultimate Stargazing Experience In Nature first appeared on Yanko Design.

Movable trolley cabinet lets you be more mobile in your work space
Whether youre working from home or from your office, you probably have just one desk or workspace where you spend most of your time. But there are also those that for one reason or another love to move around the room when working. It can be a hassle to keep moving your stuff when you need to move from one place or another. This product concept might just be the solution if you have that problem.Designers: Keetae Kim, Jinsu Du, Young Jin KimKimmipak (named after the three designers) is a concept for a steel trolley that you can help move around the stuff that you need to work on if youre moving from one place to another in the room. It looks like a piece of luggage except that it opens up like a cabinet. But just like your luggage, it is something that you can store things in and then roll around if you need to bring stuff to and from your other workspaces. When you open the cabinet, there are two layers but it can probably be modified as well if you need more shelves. You can ise it as a bookshelf, cabinet, and the top can also be a mini table. There is a removable toolbox at the top where you can place items like garden supplies, tools, beauty stuff, etc, if you need them carried around but you dont need the whole trolley. Its an interesting concept for those who move around a lot in the room and you need your tools or stuff with you. Some steel or filing cabinets also have wheels for easier moving around if needed but this one was specifically designed to be portable and movable like your luggage. Toyota celebrates NFL partnership with the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra featuring satellite internet
SEMA Show in Las Vegas concluded with much fanfare this past weekend. The humungous gathering of automotive enthusiasts and aftermarket professionals was taken aback when Toyota unwrapped the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra. Part of Toyotas exciting vehicles in Vegas, the Tundra is way beyond anything we have seen in the past: Its an inspiring new vehicle designed as an audio-visual powerhouse for sports fans and adventurers.Designed per se for tailgating parties that are nothing without a game of football; the Tundra is a tribute to the Japanese automakers partnership with the National Football League. As an official partner, Toyota has done great deals with NFL, now by offering this tailgating extravaganza, the company is giving fans a reason to uplift their fandom.Designer: ToyotaIf youre an NFL fan, you know the significance of those pre-game gatherings booze, large screen displays, and aggressive conversations I feel chills running down my spine even as I write. The atmosphere is electrifying and unescapable, but some of us want that secluded space with a bunch of friends in the parking lot or out in the wilderness. Thats what the Tundra with tailgating entertainment system intends to target.By offering the ultimate rig for the outdoors, Toyota is ensuring a fan never misses a game no matter how distant he is from the pitch or the confines of his home. Ultimate Tailgate Tundra is a pickup truck that would transport small tailgating get-togethers into a theatre-esque live game showdowns. On the staging shell powered by four electric actuators rising up from the truck bed at the push of a button are five 55-inch weatherproof outdoor screens that combine to give you the ultimate audio-visual experience on the move.Tyler Litchenberger, Toyota Vehicle Marketing and Communication manager informs, This build is more of an audio-visual experience than a typical tailgate setup. We wanted to create something that not only draws attention to the truck, but is also an activation that invites people to experience the Toyota Tundra as the ultimate sporting and adventure machine. The five screens that work in tandem and are viewable from almost 180-degree angles are provided with exceptional audio combinations. The JBL Club Marine Series tower speakers draw power from the Club Marine A5055 amplifier and a Marine 600 amplifier drives two 10-inch subwoofers. The experience would be worthless without a generator powering the entire setup that runs on satellite-based Wi-Fi connectivity onboard. The post Toyota celebrates NFL partnership with the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra featuring satellite internet first appeared on Yanko Design.

The Best Designer Box Cutter for a Stylish Package Opening Experience
Almost everyone has a tool to open packages, be it a cutter, a pair of scissors, or even a knife from the kitchen. Not all of these tools are appropriate for the job, though, especially when they are as likely to cut you as they are the packaging tape. And those that are indeed designed to slice through these materials are often just shoved back into drawers after their use because they have no place or role to play in peoples lives in those moments. Taking inspiration from ancient tools, this distinctive box cutter defies misconceptions and expectations of what the tool should look like, offering a design that is every bit as functional as a standard unpacking knife but is also beautiful beyond measure as well.Designer: AATISMO for SeiwaClick Here to Buy Now: $99The Problem: Boring Cutters are Always Out of ReachBox and paper cutters often come as long rectangular implements whose blades slide out and in as needed. Unlike scissors or kitchen knives, these tools are specifically designed with that singular use case in mind, which means they often come with safety measures and ergonomic mechanisms to make the act of cutting through cloth, tape, or cardboard comfortable and convenient. Unfortunately, the majority of cutters also have designs intended to look practical, tactical, or industrial, which is why they often find themselves hidden in drawers or containers after their use. This has the sometimes unintended effect of actually losing time looking for that cutter when you actually need it. Imagine feeling hyped after receiving a package, only for that excitement to die from annoyance when you cant get your hands on your trusty cutter immediately. You could always just leave the unpacking knife on your desk, but not only is it a safety hazard, it can also be an eyesore against your beautifully maintained minimalist workspace. Why is This the Best Aesthetic Box CutterThe OOPARTS-001 is a cutting tool that breaks free from the mold to present a functional yet also beautiful box cutter, and it takes inspiration from the unlikeliest source. Although made from metal, the disc-shaped object almost looks like those ancient tools carved from stone that our distant ancestors used to survive and thrive. There is a sense of raw power emanating from the forms faceted surface, while at the same time exuding elegance and prestige thanks to the aluminum alloys shiny anodized finish.Machined from a single block of metal, the process leaves traces of the cutting that become accents that give the cutter a unique character. It isnt all just looks, of course. It is also a sharp and safe tool for cutting through different kinds of packaging material, from tape to cloth to paper. The sharp tip of the knife is located in a single point only to avoid accidents, while the opposite edge acts as a guide that keeps the blade grounded and prevents it from slipping and injuring you.The wave-like patterns on the front of the cutter arent just for show but help you get a more solid and stable grip. And when youre done with the task at hand, you can simply place the box cutter on your desk or stand it up on its base, proudly showing off its aesthetic beauty for everyone to see.Who This Aesthetic Box Cutter is ForJust because tools need to be functional doesnt mean they cant be beautiful as well. Sure, youll need to squeeze out some creative juices and think outside the box to get a design that meets both requirements equally, but as this Stone Tool-like Unpacking Knife proves, its definitely worth the effort. And you dont even have to limit yourself to well-known design patterns from the past centuries, especially when the Stone Age can also be a treasure trove of unexplored sources of inspiration. With this Aesthetic Box Cutter, not only do you get a sharp cutting tool that feels great in your hand, you also get an art object that you can display on your desk without shame, ensuring that you can quickly reach for it when your next exciting package arrives.Click Here to Buy Now: $99The post The Best Designer Box Cutter for a Stylish Package Opening Experience first appeared on Yanko Design.

This quaint Indoor Wind Chime automatically rings by sensing outdoor wind speeds
Wind chimes have a rather understated charm. They can have a very calming effect on you, helping keep anxiety and stress away but what if youre in an enclosed area? You couldnt possibly have a wind-chime in a room that doesnt receive any wind, right? Well, the folks at Fujitsu may have developed the first wind chime to work without windMeet the LIIN, an indoor wind chime that works autonomously by sensing outdoor wind. Designed to work in enclosed environments or in spaces with not much cross-ventilation, the LIINs chime works on cue as soon as you switch it on. In fact, think of it as the audio version of a sun-lamp. A sun-lamp mimics the sun in rooms without sunlight similarly, the LIIN mimics the auditory effects of a breeze, even when there isnt any.Designer: Fujitsu LimitedThe chime works in tandem with an outdoor sensor that detects wind speeds. Switch the chime on and an internal clapper swings gently, ringing against the outer glass bell cover, creating a graceful, pleasant sound. The entire device works on an automated pendulum motion, which goes fast or slow depending on the wind speeds outside. This means you could sit in a cushy air-conditioned office but still enjoy the musical effects of the outdoor breeze!A winner of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept for the year 2024, the LIIN is Japanese minimalism at its finest. While most wind-chimes are inherently minimalist, this tabletop objet dart really does have an understated charm. The wooden base sports a simple geometric form that shows off the wood grain wonderfully. Brass elements like the clapper and the switch/knob on front contrast wonderfully against the wood, and the glass bell gives the overall product a light, see-through aesthetic. I imagine the sound produced by the borosilicate glass is just as zen-inducing too!The post This quaint Indoor Wind Chime automatically rings by sensing outdoor wind speeds first appeared on Yanko Design.

Apple and Georgia Tech Team Up to Design the Future of Chip Engineering
Apples efforts to shape the future of technology go well beyond the devices we use every day. The companys New Silicon Initiative (NSI), started in 2019, aims to nurture talent in chip design, computer architecture, and integrated systems. With Georgia Tech now joining as the eighth university in this initiative, it helps bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice, setting up future innovators for success in hardware engineering. The partnership between Apple and Georgia Techs School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) builds upon a collaboration that introduced a digital circuit design course in 2022. This expanded initiative gives ECE students valuable access to Apples expertise in multiple ways. Students will have expanded coursework in integrated circuit (IC) design and the tapeout-to-silicon process, along with mentorship from Apple engineers, guest lectures by industry experts, networking events, and direct project reviews. The final chip designed by ECE 4804 student groups embedded in a PCB.A great example is the ECE 4804 VLSI Design: Theory to Tapeout course, created in partnership with Apple. This two-semester course takes undergraduates through the complete VLSI design cycle. In the first semester, students design a digital System on Chip (SoC) using industry-standard Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. The second semester focuses on testing the fabricated chips manufactured using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)s 65nm CMOS process. This hands-on experience gives students practical insights into chip design and manufacturing. On October 3, 2024, a kick-off event at Georgia Tech attracted over 600 students, showing a strong interest in this collaboration. The initiative provides students with hands-on experience in integrated systems and silicon chip design, skills that are fundamental to the development of modern technology. The NSI program at Georgia Tech offers several benefits to students. These include scholarship and fellowship opportunities, such as a Ph.D. Fellowship in Integrated Circuits and Systems announced in October. The curriculum has been enhanced to focus on circuit technology, electronic devices, computing hardware, and emerging architectures. Students will receive direct feedback from Apple engineers on IC design course projects, giving them invaluable industry insights. Moreover, they will gain exposure to new technologies and industry practices, preparing them for an evolving tech landscape. These elements give students a valuable view of industry practices, preparing them for the tech landscape.More than 600 Georgia Tech students joined the Apple NSI kick-off event at the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons in early October, highlighting the excitement around this partnership.Apple engineers will collaborate with ECE faculty to present guest lectures in various integrated system design courses. The engineers will also participate in project reviews in several IC design courses and offer practical feedback to help students refine their designs during the tape-out process. In the inaugural run of the VLSI Design course, every student design was validated as fully functionala success that highlights the value of direct industry involvement.ECE Professor Visvesh Sathe teaching the first VLSI Design: Theory to Tapeout cohort in Spring 2023.Working with Apple as part of its New Silicon Initiative allows us to bridge the skills gap for a workforce in IC design and computer architecture by preparing students with the technical abilities and skills to enter a rapidly evolving, always in-demand industry, said Arijit Raychowdhury, professor and Steve W. Chaddick School Chair of ECE.This collaboration represents an important investment in the future of hardware engineering and chip design. By bringing real-world challenges and professional feedback directly into the academic setting, Apple is helping to accelerate the growth of the next generation of talent. This initiative impacts Georgia Tech students and the broader future of technology development and innovation.Looking ahead, there are plans to expand this course and explore new courses in other chip development areas, like analog and packaging. If you are someone who is a social butterfly, chances are you need high-resolution photo and video shooting equipment handy at all times. Sure, smartphones are the best bet when it comes to quick reels or IG-worthy stories, still they cannot match the details of DSLR or mirrorless shooters.Traditionally both these versions have an optical viewfinder to shoot the subject in the frame. Now, a designer has taken a completely different approach to what a camera should be like.Designer: Yasuaki MatsuuraThis is the Eye to Eye camera that takes a completely radical approach to digital photography both in form and function. Right where you would find the viewfinder and the lens of the digital camera, this one has a flush hollow part that lets the shooter see the subject without anything in between. This creates a direct eye-to-eye between the photographer and the subject right at the moment of capture. More than a mere gimmick, the digital camera actually shoots photographs.According to Yasuaki, the idea is to create a deeper connection between the two individuals and also let them be more aware of their visual surroundings. Since the subject knows the human eye instead of a lens looking straight him/her in the eye, the final shot has a more engaging emotion to it. Its beyond just the digital recording or picture shooting moment, staying as a cherished memory. This interesting gadget is a part of his art series, and a limited edition artwork that we are sure will have more interesting things to follow. The in-person interaction of this interesting digital camera can be a bit too much for shy individuals, however, more confident people can take advantage of this unique proposition. The post This digital camera with hollow viewfinder creates direct eye-to-eye contact for more engaging shots first appeared on Yanko Design.

Zaha Hadids Curving Science Center Is Marked With Big Swooping Arches & Expansive Glazing
Zaha Hadid Architects is building a scientific research center in Uzbekistan. They adopted a low-tech approach to create a comfortable climate. The building is visually appealing, and equipped with a clever passive cooling system that draws inspiration from the traditional local architecture. The center is named after the 15th-century poet, author, linguist, and statesman Alisher Navoi. Called the Alisher Navoi International Scientific Research Centre, it is marked by big swooping arches and expansive glazing. The form is inspired by the traditional wind-catching towers of Central Asian and Middle Eastern Architecture, to remove the string from the desert heat.Designer: Zaha Hadid ArchitectsThe building is equipped with curvy supporting arches, which have been constructed from local bricks. The arches are built as hollow structures with openings that collect wind, and channel air into the building. During summer, the system will be offered support by electric fans and water misting to cool the air before it moves around the building. The hollow arched structures form a chimney effect, which enables the warmer air to escape through the openings at the top of each arch. The warm air rises naturally and escapes, building a pressure difference that pulls in the cooler air from lower levels, promoting ventilation throughout the building. These cooling principles are enhanced by the day-night cycle, extracting warmer air while trapping cooler air below, said Zaha Hadid Architects. Coupled with the high thermal mass of the centers structure, optimum conditions of comfort can be maintained with minimal energy consumption. Courtyards and skylights bring natural light into the heart of the center while deep roof overhangs provide its facades with effective solar shading in summer yet permit winter sun into the building to warm the interiors. The interior will occupy 23,000 sq m, and will also include the Navoi State Museum of Literature. It also contains research areas, a workshop, and a repository housing a collection of 3,500 historical books and manuscripts. 13 permanent exhibition halls will be placed around a central courtyard, promoting collaboration between literary education, research, and performing arts. The post Zaha Hadids Curving Science Center Is Marked With Big Swooping Arches & Expansive Glazing first appeared on Yanko Design.

Circular MagSafe SSD sticks to the back of your phone for near-infinite storage
With the death of microSD cards in smartphones, the storage that you buy is all that youll ever get. Sure, you can use cloud storage, but that puts you at the mercy of an Internet connection. Its not always available, as some might want you to believe, and its not always fast, especially for large files.Nothing beats local storage in terms of speed and security, but OTG (on-the-go) USB flash drives for phones only have so much capacity. SSDs are the king of fast and compact data storage, and this rather unusual design puts as much as 2TB at your disposal, sticking securely to the back of your phone so you wont have to deal with dangling cables while recording video or taking photos.Designer: DockcaseYou can already connect external drives to smartphones these days, but even the smallest SSD would be left dangling when you pick up the phone. Yes, you can hold both in your hand like how some hold a power bank, but that makes things just awkward and sometimes dangerous. Thankfully, MagSafe technology now lets us stick things to the back of the phone, so why not an SSD as well? The Dockcase MagSafe M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure does exactly that, coming in the form of a small puck that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone. It still needs a USB-C connection for data and a bit of power, but it can be a very short one that wont get tangled in your hand. This design is perfect for mobile photographers as it can let them easily record even 4K videos directly to the storage, depending on the camera app being used. This device, however, is just an enclosure, so youll have to buy and put in a compatible SSD module. This, however, offers more flexibility, as you can have up to 2TB in storage and, if needed, swap out modules. It also has a square LCD display that, at the push of a button, can show important information about the SSD inside.Although it can technically be used with any computer that can read SSD storage via USB-C, Dockcase was clearly intended for use with iPhones and MagSafe-compatible phones or cases. It even has passthrough charging so you can keep the enclosure connected and charge your phone at the same time. Its a rather simple yet elegant design that solves the data storage problem of smartphones today. The post Circular MagSafe SSD sticks to the back of your phone for near-infinite storage first appeared on Yanko Design.

Apple is allegedly working on an Affordable, Consumer-grade Spatial Headset
Apple showed us what a mixed reality headset could be capable of with the debut of the Vision Pro at WWDC in 2023. It had all the bells and whistles required of an AR and VR headset from Apple, but didnt find many takers. Perhaps because of its steep price tag or maybe, no one was ready for a headset positioning them into the spatial computing just yet.For me, per se it was the price, bulkiness, and small market size for a standalone device in the smart glasses category. Apple soon realized it after significant losses in projected sales. This is why rumors of Apple mulling the rollout of a more affordable non-Pro mixed reality headset model started doing the rounds.Designer: AppleSuch a device would be made possible by trimming down the features and functionalities of the Vision Pro, but the Cupertino company has thought otherwise (at least for now). New reports by way of Bloombergs Mark Gurman, Apple is instead planning a pair of smart glasses that would be targeted at the masses like the Metas Ray Bans and fit better in the Apple ecosystem than the Vision Pro or its stripped-down brother. The latest information suggests that the budget-friendly Vision model could have been postponed until after 2027, while the new internal study, codenamed project Atlas is running within Apple to understand from the companys employees where they stand on the topic of smart glasses. Based on the internal understanding, Apple is thinking about smart glasses that would somewhat target the consumer segment that Metas Orion augmented reality glasses intend to.The Orion glasses for now are a prototype themselves. It wouldnt be the best choice to compare or base the two non-existent devices on the same footing. But the basic idea is that Apple could have a pair of smart glasses that look like regular glasses and are a combination of slick design and useful features that would allow a connected iPhone to do most of the computing. At the time of writing, it is not known whether Apple has started building such a product. Still, we learn that feasibility studies are happening within the company to deliver eyewear that addresses the issues of convenience, weight, and battery life. Irrespective of what direction Apple intends to take with the idea of smart glasses, itll almost take a few years to reach the market. If youre in a hurry, get your hands on the Meta options! The post Apple is allegedly working on an Affordable, Consumer-grade Spatial Headset first appeared on Yanko Design.

Game-changing Carbon-Nanofiber Heated Blanket warms you in a Minute with 96% Energy Efficiency
The clocks are rolled forward, the post-Halloween holiday festive feeling is here and Mariah Carey is beginning her journey to hitting the top of her charts with her quintessential Christmas single. Its officially winter, and instead of cranking up the heater this season (and worrying about an astronomical power bill), heres an alternative that sounds like something out of a sci-fi novel but actually isnt a body-heating blanket that uses a carbon nanotube fabric and infrared heating to keep you warm.Meet the Jartoo, an electric blanket that isnt anything like the one your grandparents used. Relying on one of the most comfortable, energy-efficient materials on the planet, the Jartoo blanket is lined with a high-performance carbon nanotube fabric that heats evenly and efficiently in under a minute. The blanket has 6 heat settings and relies on a mere 70 watts of power. Thats about as much as a ceiling fan consumes, or around 96% less power than your traditional heater or AC uses.Designer: JartooClick Here to Buy Now: $139 $299 ($160 off). Hurry, only 85/500 left! Raised over $90,000.Designed to look and feel like a sophisticated, soft, plush blanket that youd want to wrap yourself in, the Jartoo is nothing like those stiff, weirdly wiry electric blankets from decades ago. While most electric blankets were designed to be placed under you, this one is designed to be wrapped around you, which means you can wear it in bed, in your work chair, or even your sofa. The velvet exterior feels luxuriously soft, while the blankets heating tech works like magic. The magic of the 60-second heating comes courtesy of the Jartoos use of Apalos FlexHT Carbon Nanotube Filma technology more often found in aerospace. Carbon nanotubes get their name from the tube-shaped graphene cylinders suspended within the material. Known for its high-strength and incredible energy efficiency, CNT is a perfect choice for the blanket. It heats evenly, heats rapidly, and still remains much more flexible (and safe) than say a copper-wire heating element.Apalos FlexHT Carbon Nanotube Film technologyMost electric blankets use heating elements woven into the blankets fabric, but the Jartoo relies on something much more sophisticated Far-Infrared (FIR) heating. If youre not familiar, FIR technology heats objects directly rather than the surrounding air, creating a warmth often described as sun-like. This isnt just cozy; its practical, delivering a soft, radiating heat without hot and cold zones, like youd feel with older electric blankets. The entire heating process takes a mere minute, getting you from shivering cold to toasty and cozy in seconds.Carbon nanotubes energy efficiency doesnt just translate to a warmer blanket, it also means better warming with lower energy consumption. Specifically, the Jartoo blanket operates at just 70 watts, making it 60% more energy efficient than typical electric blankets and nearly 97% more efficient than a heater that operates at over 1500 watts. Plus, it runs on a safe 24V low-voltage system, meaning its a low-risk option for everyone in the family, including kids.To cater to different preferences, the Jartoo offers six adjustable heating modes. Ranging from a cozy 95F to a toasty 131F, the blanket allows for customized warmth depending on what you need, whether its a light layer of warmth on a chilly morning or full heat on a particularly snowy night. You can set it to turn off automatically with a timer, configured by a remoteso theres no need to worry about leaving it on while youre dozing off. With the toasty warmth also comes comfort. The Jartoo is made with a blended velvet fabric, designed to be soft against your skin while standing up to daily wear. The velvet is spill-resistant, which means it can take on the daily ritual of sipping coffee or tea while snuggled in your blanket. However, if youre extra clumsy, the blanket is machine-washable and doesnt require any special treatment or wash cycle. Perfect for households with kids, pets, or justpeople who like a clean blanket. The Jartoo blanket comes in a 50x60 size, which is perfect for a single person. Its designed to not just be used in bed, but even on your sofa as you curl up to watch a movie, or while youre working at your WFH setup. The blanket is accompanied by a remote control, a GaN plug-adapter to power the blanket, a charging cable for the remote, and a warranty card for your Jartoo. If an entire blanket feels like way too much of a commitment, the Jartoo comes in a small heating-pad-sized unit too, perfect for physiotherapy, dealing with cramps, or just using as a foot-warmer!Click Here to Buy Now: $139 $299 ($160 off). Hurry, only only 85/500 left! Raised over $90,000The post Game-changing Carbon-Nanofiber Heated Blanket warms you in a Minute with 96% Energy Efficiency first appeared on Yanko Design.

Modellista brings insane overlanding capabilities to Land Cruiser 2025 thats dressed to impress
At SEMA 2024 the newly launched Toyota Land Cruiser 2025 model saw a chunky makeover thanks to the in-house bred Japanese aftermarket company Modellista, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. The Overland Vision Concept is one of the prototypes shown off by Toyota at the automotive mecca. The vehicle is modded to bring extreme overlanding capability to the otherwise benign Land Cruiser. According to Modellista their core vision behind this design is to explore the potential of the brand in the U.S. If they intend on achieving what theyve set their eyes on, the ultra-rugged Land Cruiser model will be a reality in the future pitted against the futuristic Cybertruck.Designer: ModellistaThis concept is a heavily armored vehicle that made heads turn at the SEMA show for its Cyberpunk look and bold character. It comes with an array of inclusions like aggressive off-road tires, lower body panels, fender flares, skid plates, a lift kit, headlight protection, side-carrying containers, a roof-mounted tent and a centrally mounted ladder. The aftermarket specialist made judicious use of amber green LED lights and a full-width light bar above the grille. These green LED accents extend to the whole front fascia and rear section to lend the ride an intimidating persona.Overland Vision Concept has brush wires all around to protect against dents and scratches from exposure to the tough off-roading adventures, a dystopian future, or an apocalyptic warzone. Modellista has given the grille a good treatment of the TOYOTA logo with the Land Cruser branding below the bumper. The vehicle carries a two-tone theme in black and silver spilling over to the dark black tinted windows which make it a good candidate for a VVIP entourage.Itll be exciting to see how American adventure lovers see this lucrative Overlander pitted against the likes of the Ford F150 Raptor, Land Rover Defender, Jeep Gladiator, or Toyota Tacoma! The post Modellista brings insane overlanding capabilities to Land Cruiser 2025 thats dressed to impress first appeared on Yanko Design.

Award-winning Sunflower-inspired Fire Pit Mixes Art with Utility and Transforms Your Patio
Shift Studios Sunflower fire pit redefines concrete fire pits with a modular twist, moving away from the bulky, one-piece molds traditionally used. Instead of casting the entire pit in a single, heavy mold, Sunflowers modular design features smaller, repeatable concrete segments supported by a sturdy internal metal frame. This new approach not only makes each piece easier to cast, finish, and handle but also allows for on-site assembly, simplifying installation and adding flexibility. Its an innovative break from the limitations of traditional concrete casting, where design is usually constrained by weight and the impracticalities of handling one large piece.Designer: Shift StudioThe modular setup also opens up a world of creative possibilities. Each petal piece of concrete is distinct, enabling customizable combinations in color, tone, material, and finish. This setup gives Sunflower a unique aesthetic versatility, allowing homeowners to tailor the fire pits look to suit their personal style or the vibe of an outdoor space. Its easy to imagine a configuration where each petal has its own shade, creating a gradient that enhances the fire pits organic, flower-inspired design. If a petal gets damaged, it can be replaced independently, which is a practical advantage not seen in traditional single-mold fire pits. When Sunflower is lit, it truly comes to life. The metal frame holds the fire at the center, while the concrete petals channel light through the openings, casting shapes that resemble rays of sunlight. This interplay of light and shadow produces a mesmerizing, almost sun-like pattern that radiates warmth and creates a visually captivating experience. The segmented design not only looks beautiful but brings a tactile, hands-on quality to concrete, transforming the traditionally industrial material into something intimate and engaging. This setup encourages people to gather around, inviting quiet moments of reflection or shared conversation around the fire. What makes Sunflower especially compelling is how it balances rugged concrete with an organic shape that feels connected to nature. The flower-inspired form, with petals circling a central flame, fosters a sense of unity and invites interaction in a way thats rare for such functional pieces. Functioning not only as a fireplace but essentially also as a centerpiece, the Sunflower is designed to draw people in and evoke a sense of calm. Plus, with its modularity, Sunflower becomes a customizable, evolving piece that can be adapted to different settings, seasons, or moods.A winner of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept for the year 2024, Shift Studios Sunflower reimagines concrete fire pit design, blending artistry with utility in a way thats refreshingly adaptable. Its modular structure supports flexibility in both design and function, turning a simple outdoor fixture into a customizable, eye-catching element. The post Award-winning Sunflower-inspired Fire Pit Mixes Art with Utility and Transforms Your Patio first appeared on Yanko Design.

It will render your sketches, turn them into basic 3D, and give you the ability to ideate alongside the AI, showing the true future of industrial design. What We LikeAI-powered visualization generates high-quality renderings quicklyAffordable for individuals and small teamsWhat We DislikePrimarily focused on concept and visualization, limited for detailed modelingRequires an internet connection, which can be a drawback in remote or low-bandwidth settings.Quality of output may vary depending on the complexity of the sketchGravity Sketch Best Metaverse 3D SoftwareGravity Sketch brings 3D modeling to VR (with an iPad app too), offering an immersive experience thats particularly suited for designing within the metaverse and virtual environments. Users can draw in 3D space, walking around their creations and manipulating shapes in real time. This VR-first approach offers a unique level of creativity and interactivity that conventional 3D software cant match.Gravity Sketch is used by automotive and industrial designers who benefit from seeing their designs at scale. The software is notably free for individual users (something that Gravity Sketch announced in 2021) making it accessible for students and casual users experimenting with VR design, with a dynamic paid structure for teams and enterprises. Why We Picked It?Gravity Sketch was the first ever mainstream 3D modeling software for the metaverse, and to this day remains the gold standard when it comes to building in 3D, while immersed in 3D. You can create designs by waving your hands in mid-air, making curves, adjusting surfaces, and moving objects/layers around. This truly feels like what the future of industrial and automotive design should be!What We LikeImmersive VR-based 3D modeling experienceIdeal for creating designs within the metaverse and virtual spacesUsed to be paid for individuals, but is now freeWhat We DislikeRequires VR hardware, limiting accessibilityiPad app isnt as immersive as the metaverse experienceProcreate Best Sketching App for iPadProcreate has made waves in the digital art community for its intuitive sketching tools on iPad. It offers a wide range of brushes, layering options, and even animation capabilities, making it versatile for illustrators, digital artists, and animators. With the Apple Pencil, Procreate brings a natural drawing experience to the digital canvas, letting you even sketch directly on 3D models!Priced at a one-time fee of $12.99, Procreate is affordable and extremely powerful for creatives looking to sketch, paint, or animate on the go. Its widely used for illustration, concept art, and character design, making it indispensable for artists who prefer tablet-based workflows. Why We Picked It?Hands down the best sketching app for the iPad. Procreates brilliantly simple interface, its abundance of tools and features, and its ability to handle everything from sketching and animation make it a must-have if you own an iPad. You could sketch with your finger or a capacitive stylus, but we recommend the Apple Pencil for its pressure and tilt sensitivity features. The one-time fee has great value because Procreate keeps adding new capabilities and features every few years without charging extra. What We LikeNatural drawing experience on iPad with Apple PencilOne-time payment, no ongoing subscription requiredWhat We DislikeAvailable only on iPad, limiting cross-platform useLacks some advanced features of desktop design softwareBlender Best Free 3D SoftwareBlender is a widely popular, open-source 3D software with extensive capabilities for modeling, sculpting, and animation. Known for being free yet feature-rich, Blender is a favorite among independent artists, animators, and hobbyists. It offers tools for everything from basic 3D object creation to complex animation, making it incredibly versatile. One of Blenders standout features is its robust community support, which keeps the software updated and provides a wealth of tutorials. This makes Blender ideal for creatives looking to learn 3D modeling without an upfront financial commitment. As a completely free tool, Blender is used not only in personal projects but also in professional production pipelines, especially in indie game development and VFX for films. Why We Picked It?Theres nothing Blender cant do. The open-source software lets you model and render anything, whether youre an industrial designer, 3D artist, animator, special-effects artist, or even an engineer working on simulations. Blenders advanced settings let you customize the UI based on the kind of workflow you have, and you can even download plugins that make it even more fine-tuned to your needs. The software was and always will be free, so if theres one 3D software I recommend you keep in your back pocket its this one. What We LikeCompletely free and open-source with extensive community supportPowerful toolset for modeling, sculpting, animation, VFX, compositing, and even video editingall in one programStrong community provides extensive tutorials, plugins, and support, making it easier for beginners to get started and for advanced users to expand capabilitiesWhat We DislikeUser interface can be overwhelming for new usersLacks built-in collaboration toolsSketchUp Best 3D Software for Architecture + InteriorsSketchUp has long been popular among architects and interior designers, offering intuitive 3D modeling that balances functionality with ease of use. Known for its push-pull tool and simple interface, SketchUp is ideal for creating detailed architectural models and visualizations quickly. The software was created by @Last Software and was acquired by Google in 2006. SketchUp finally got sold to Trimble Inc. in 2012.While SketchUp offers a free web-only version for non-commercial use, the Pro plan at $49.99 per month gives you a dedicated app for Desktop, iPad, as well as web-based 3D modelers. Its user-friendly approach and accessible pricing make SketchUp an industry favorite for architecture and interior design projects. Why We Picked It?SketchUp was the first ever 3D design software I truly worked with. This was in the year 2008-09, just before I went to design college, and when SketchUp was owned by Google. The app was ridiculously intuitive to use, and I even designed houses and 3D scenes with zero prior knowledge. Although SketchUp has changed owners, it still remains a favorite in the architecture and interior design industry (you should check out Thilina Liyanages work all made on SketchUp).What We LikeIntuitive and user-friendly, ideal for architecture and interior designFree version available with essential modeling toolsWhat We DislikeLacks advanced rendering and parametric modeling toolsPro version can be expensive for those needing full functionalityThe 3D Warehouse has been disabled for non-web use, cutting off an entire repository of assets for usersAutodesk Fusion + Revit Best Overall Suite for 3D DesignAutodesk is known for its powerful lineup of 3D design software, most notably Fusion and Revit. Fusion (previously known as Fusion 360) is a standout for CAD, CAM, and CAE, providing a full set of tools for product design and manufacturing. Its cloud-based nature enables real-time collaboration, making it ideal for engineering and industrial design teams that need seamless workflows and advanced simulation tools.Revit, on the other hand, is a favorite among architects and construction professionals for its Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. Revit allows for the creation of highly detailed building models with built-in structural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems, facilitating a streamlined design process from conception through construction. Its the go-to choice for architecture firms that need precise, collaborative tools for large-scale building projects.Autodesks software is available through individual licenses or comprehensive subscription plans. Fusion costs $85 per month or $680 oer year, while Revits subscription starts at $365 per month or $2,910 per year, with discounts for bundled purchases. For educational purposes, all of Autodesks software remain free to use both for students as well as teachers. The variety in Autodesks offerings makes it a powerful choice for industries spanning product design, architecture, and manufacturing, cementing its reputation as an industry standard for 3D modeling and BIM.Why We Picked It?Autodesk is the most commonly uttered name in the design and engineering circuit. With all its apps and software, be it Fusion, Revit, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Maya, Arnold, Inventor, and a whole host of others, Autodesk has a strong grip on its industry and user base.Fusion 360 is recommended for its all-in-one CAD, CAM, and CAE tools, ideal for iterative product design and remote collaboration via cloud-based features. Revit excels in architecture and construction with advanced BIM capabilities, supporting detailed, data-rich models that improve project precision and multi-disciplinary collaboration, making both tools invaluable for comprehensive, professional-grade design workflows. What We LikeComprehensive toolset for CAD, CAM, CAE, and BIM (Fusion 360 and Revit)Cloud-based collaboration and data sharingFree for Students and EducatorsWhat We DislikeExpensive subscription plans, especially for RevitAdobe Creative Cloud Best Overall Suite for Graphic DesignAdobes suite is a mainstay in the design world, with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign leading the way for image editing, vector art, and layout design, respectively. Each of these apps provides a deep feature set, making Adobe essential for graphic designers, photographers, and digital artists. Photoshops advanced image editing, Illustrators vector manipulation, and InDesigns layout capabilities make it versatile across creative industries. The company has also stayed ahead of the AI curve, launching multiple AI features within its popular software as well as on its Adobe Firefly web app.Adobes Creative Cloud subscription costs $59.99 per month for access to the full suite, though individual apps are also available starting at $9.99 per month. Adobe Spark and Adobe XD add unique tools for social graphics and UI/UX design, cementing Adobes role as a comprehensive toolkit for digital and print projects alike.Adobe has also moved into 3D design with Adobe Substance, expanding its offerings for those working in material texturing and 3D asset creation. This suite provides designers with everything from basic editing to advanced 3D tools, truly making Adobe a one-stop shop for creatives. Why We Picked It?Theres really no escaping Adobe. As hard as you try, Adobe always remains the industry standard for graphic and creative work, although theyre steadily expanding into most domains. Adobe Audition is a VERY capable digital audio workstation, Premiere Pro is the gold standard for video and VFX, Illustrator is the best for illustrators, InDesign for publication designers, and Photoshop oh, where would we be without it! As an editor, I use Photoshop probably more than any other design app/software, and its intuitive layout (that hasnt changed in decades) plus GenAI features make it the best photo-editing software out there. For a price, though. What We LikeIndustry-standard suite covering a wide range of design needsComprehensive toolset for everything from graphic design to 3D renderingIncredible AI features integrated right into the softwareWhat We DislikeHigh monthly subscription costs, especially for full Creative Cloud accessCanceling your subscription can be a monumental task with extra feesKeyShot Best for 3D Rendering and VisualizationKeyShot, developed by Luxion, remains a top choice for 3D rendering and visualization, recently enhancing its platform with a comprehensive Product Design-to-Market suite. Known for its fast, photorealistic rendering and simple drag-and-drop interface, KeyShot enables designers to create high-quality visuals and animations from 3D models with ease. Its real-time rendering engine provides instant feedback, making it invaluable for quick design iterations and client presentations. With the recent bifurcation into KeyShot Studio, KeyShot Hub, and KeyShot Dock, the software now extends beyond rendering to support a complete, collaborative workflow. KeyShot Studio delivers the powerful rendering capabilities users rely on, while KeyShot Hub enables streamlined asset management and sharing across teams. KeyShot Dock bridges the gap between design and marketing, making it easier for teams to transition finalized assets into promotional materials.KeyShot is widely used in product design, automotive, and marketing, where lifelike visuals are crucial. Pricing for KeyShot Studio starts at $99 a month, with add-on plugins providing advanced features like Network Rendering and VR support. These new additions solidify KeyShot Studio as an essential tool for turning 3D models into stunning, market-ready visuals while enabling efficient, team-oriented workflows across the design-to-market process. KeyShot Hub and KeyShot Dock have pricing-on-request models. Why We Picked It?88% of Industrial Designers prefer KeyShot over any other rendering software. Its intuitive, fast, and provides stellar results with minimal effort, unlike other software that requires a lot of technical know-how or pre-rendering setup. Although KeyShot isnt a design software, its Product Design-to-Market Suite is slowly and surely making it an integral part of the industrial design and visualization process. KeyShot Studio, or the rendering app, remains an industry favorite by a strong margin, being used by leading brands like Volvo, Nikon, Motorola, and Under Armour. The KeyShot Hub supplements the rendering program, allowing you to access assets to use alongside your designs. What We LikeReal-time rendering with high-quality visuals and animationsNew Design-to-Market suite enhances workflow with Studio, Hub, and DockWhat We DislikePricey, especially for the Pro and enterprise-level versionsPrimarily focused on rendering, not modeling or asset creationThe post Best Design Apps for the Creative Industry first appeared on Yanko Design.

Fake AirPods Pro With A Built-In TouchScreen Feels an AirPods/iPod Frankensteins Monster
Apple would never but what if they did??This isnt the Apple AirPods Ultra, but it sure is parading around the internet as one. Discovered on Threads, these knockoff pair of AirPods Pro (probably available on Temu if you look hard enough) have a feature that even the originals dont. Visible the instant you unbox the earbuds, these knockoff AirPods Pro come with a touchscreen built into the case, letting you play/pause music, activate or deactivate features like ANC and Spatial Audio, and even mess with the earbuds equalizers. It isnt too different from a pair of JBL Tour PRO 3 earbuds we saw two years ago at CES, except these ones are modeled exactly on Apples AirPods Pro.Designer: Choice HYUNDAIIt isnt easy to tell what the brand or model of these earbuds is (although I suspect its the Choice HYUNDAI HY-Y11), but its certainly a Chinese manufacturer trying to emulate the Apple aesthetic. The case looks almost exactly like the AirPods Pro, albeit with a black touchscreen on the front. Youve got a USB-C at the bottom, and the interiors of the case look almost exactly like Apples own. The earbuds are a resounding copy too.Flip open the case and it automatically wakes up the touchscreen, showing your earbuds status. Take one earbud out and an animation on the screen shows which earbuds out of its case, providing a pretty nifty visual indication. The screen has touch-to-wake too, allowing you to do things like play/pause music, set a wallpaper on your AirPods case, and adjust features like ANC, EQ, and Spatial Audio. On the top, youve also got a status bar that tells you each earbuds battery level, case battery level, Bluetooth connectivity status, and the time. Pop the earbuds in and you can adjust your audio through the case itself without needing to take your phone out. Is it convenient? Sure. Is it necessary? I doubt. This device basically turns the AirPods Pro into an AirPods iPod mashup. Its cool, but highly unnecessary given that it doesnt achieve much since youre still taking a gadget out of your pocket to control playback. At that point, the gadget might as well be your phone. Adding a screen to the case also reduces its overall battery capacity, since the screen now chugs on the battery to remain operational. However, if the idea of an AirPods case with its dedicated screen appeals to you, the internet is probably littered with low-cost versions of this device that you could play with for fun. Dont expect stunning audio quality, ANC, or Spatial Audio from these shoddily-made knockoffs. Dont expect a warranty either, since this thing literally costs $7.50 on AliExpress.View on ThreadsThe post Fake AirPods Pro With A Built-In TouchScreen Feels an AirPods/iPod Frankensteins Monster first appeared on Yanko Design.

Old walkman becomes cassette player and storage unit
Everything old is new again is an adage that we will probably never escape. How we listen to music continually evolves but it seems that we still have a certain fondness for the old way like vinyls, CDs, and yes, even cassette tapes. Streaming music on our mobile devices is the most convenient but theres a certain nostalgia attached to vintage that we enjoy. And of course, the music quality is way different to the compressed ones we have now. Designer Name: Love HultenThis designer is obviously of the generation that still enjoyed listening to music on cassette tapes since the main component of this device is his old Sony Walkman WM-EX655. And he still has a collection of cassette tapes so we know hes a serious collector. What he developed is something straight out of a 60s science fiction movie. But instead of using it to conduct experiments, you use it as it was originally intended: to play sweet, sweet music. What he came up with is a cassette player and storage unit for the colorful cassette tape cases. Theres also built-in dual circular speakers, keyboard switches and buttons with various functions like play, stop, forward, rewind, etc. Theres also an audio waveform meter to go along with the beat of the music and even a tape slot to put in the case of the album youre currently playing. The cabinet looking device blends design and technology to give you a truly retro piece of equipment that still performs its original function. Its of course a device that he made for himself since he has been collecting and keeping cassette tapes. But unlike vinyls and CDs that you can still buy from a lot of places, I dont know that many stores that still sell cassettes. So the possibility of having a commercial version of this is very slim. EDC flashlight and charging case makes sure you wont be in the dark for long
Small pocket-sized flashlights are a dime a dozen these days, especially in the era of EDCs or Everyday Carry bags. Many of these come in rugged designs with bright LED functionality, and most of them utilize rechargeable batteries for convenience. Of course, that implies having some sort of charger always at hand, which requires carrying yet another separate device in your kit. This EDC tool, however, takes a cue from the now ubiquitous wireless earbuds design, providing a carrying case for the LED flashlight that also serves as its charger. Even better, you can actually use the flashlight while its still in its case, removing the need to fiddle with two separate devices when youre in a hurry.Designer: OlightOn its own, the Olight Baton 4 LED flashlight looks pretty ordinary. It has a small cylindrical body typical of tiny flashlights, though it boasts a brightness of 1,300 lumens and a throw distance of 170 meters. It has small LED indicators for its brightness level and remaining battery charge, but thats pretty much it for the flashlight itself. The real killer feature of the Baton 4 Premium Edition, however, is its 5,000 mAh charging case. It has a flip-top design that makes it easy to open and close with one hand. You can easily slip in any compatible Olight flashlight for charging, but theres a special function when used with the Baton 4 or Baton 3 flashlights. You can simply flip open the cover and press the side button to turn on the flashlight while its still in the case, so you dont have to lose time pulling it out and putting it back in again. The case itself has dual charging functionality. It can charge the flashlight inside or charge a phone like a power bank. This means you dont really need to carry a separate charger for the flashlight and your phone, as the case can do both. It might sound like a small convenience, but for people who always find themselves outdoors in the dark, intentionally or otherwise, it can be a critical space-saving feature that helps make room for more things inside their EDC bags. The post EDC flashlight and charging case makes sure you wont be in the dark for long first appeared on Yanko Design.

Roborock Qrevo Slim: The Ultra-Thin Vacuum with Automotive-Grade Navigation Tech
You remember when people were complaining that their robot vacuum would drive itself off the stairs, or notoriously spread pet fecal matter around the house because the vacuums were just not equipped enough to deal with these scenarios? Or the vacuums being so thick they would just dodge sofas instead of going underneath them? Thats what we in the tech realm refer to as first-generation woes. With newer generations, products get better at solving problems that first-gen versions never anticipated. Roborocks Qrevo Slim aims to usher in this new generation of robot vacuuming with both better design as well as state-of-the-art tech. The Qrevo Slim, as its name suggests, measures just over 8cm or 3 inches tall, allowing it to cruise underneath sofas without worrying about headroom. The slim design is also backed by Roborocks most advanced 3D mapping and navigation system. Dubbed the StarSight Autonomous System, this tech is so good, Roborock claims its better at navigating than the LDS seen on most vacuums today.Designer: Roborock TeamClick Here to Buy Now: $999.99 $1399.99 ($400 off). Hurry, deal ends in 48-hours!Ultra-Thin Design: Accessing Every Nook and CrannyAt just 8.2cm or 3.2 inches tall, the Qrevo Slim has the kind of vertical clearance that most robot vacuums wish they had. Slim enough to easily slip under beds, couches, and other low-clearance furniture, the robot vacuum covers more ground than your traditional vac, reaching tight spots that often go ignored.Notably, the Qrevo Slims upper profile is super-slick, eschewing that bump youll find on most robot vacuums where most of the LiDAR and imaging tech is located. This slim upper surface means the vacuum has lesser problems packing into tighter spaces to clean everything from pet hair, food crumbs, dust, or any dirt that could be languishing under your furniture for months.StarSight Autonomous System: The Star of the ShowRoborocks StarSight Autonomous System is perhaps its most significant achievement, using not one but 2 LiDAR sensors to power its navigation and obstacle-avoidance capabilities. This advanced system leverages two 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors to capture more than 1 million 3D points per second. Unlike traditional Laser Distance Sensors (LDS) seen on most current vacuum cleaners, which measure only 2D linear distances (like how close or far objects are), StarSights 3D mapping senses depth and height, giving the vacuum full automotive-grade spatial awareness. With a whopping 38,400 Hz sampling rate and 21,600 sensor points, StarSight processes information at 21 times the speed of LDS. This faster, more detailed mapping allows the Qrevo Slim to detect as many as 73 types of obstacles, from toys to cables, adapting instantly without doing that awkward bump and turn that other vacuum cleaners do. This means the vacuum has a better sense of its surroundings (even when people are walking around) so it cleverly avoids obstacles instead of waiting till the last minute to bump into them.Qrevo Slim: Better Navigation than Some Autonomous CarsThe Roborock Qrevo Slims navigation features rival those of some autonomous cars, adapting smartly to varied home environments. Its SmartPlan creates detailed 3D maps, allowing it to navigate room layouts precisely, minimizing time and maximizing coverage. With DirTect, the Qrevo Slim automatically detects and boosts suction in high-traffic, dirt-prone areas, delivering targeted cleaning where its needed mostlike entryways or kitchens where dirt tends to collect. For pet lovers, robot vacuum can be used as a pet monitor too. The Pet Snaps feature can be toggled to have the Qrevo Slim go check in on your pet around the house. Once it locates the pet, you can capture snapshots of your furry friend. This feature kicks in during the Qrevo Slims cleaning cycle, although it only works with one pet at a given time.Powerful 11,000 Pa Max Suction: A Cleaning PowerhouseThe Roborock Qrevo Slim offers an impressive 11,000 Pa of suction power, making it one of the most powerful robot vacuums on the market. This high suction strength effortlessly picks up fine dust, pet hair, and larger debris, ensuring a deep clean across all floor types. Whether tackling everyday messes or stubborn dirt, this level of suction provides the thorough cleaning performance needed for busy households.Supporting this power, the Qrevo Slim is equipped with floor and carpet detection along with the Carpet Boost+ system. When moving onto carpets, it automatically increases suction for a deeper clean, lifting dust and dirt embedded in carpet fibers. This intelligent adjustment means each surface gets the right level of attention, maintaining efficiency on hard floors while delivering extra power where its most needed.DuoRoller Riser Brush and Dual Spinning Mops: Clean and AdaptThe DuoRoller Riser Brush is designed with counter-rotating, all-rubber brushes that capture everything from pet hair to fine dust without tangling. These dual brushes work together to lift debris effectively, providing full coverage across both hard floors and carpets. When transitioning between surfaces, the brushes auto-lift, ensuring optimal performance without scratching or over-brushing on sensitive flooring.Complementing the brush system, the Qrevo Slims dual spinning mops offer thorough mopping action for hard floors. These mops apply steady, even pressure for a polished finish, removing sticky messes and light stains in one pass. Like the DuoRoller, the mops lift automatically when the vacuum moves onto carpets, keeping the damp mop surface from ever wetting your carpet.FlexiArm Side Brush and Mop: Clean in Every CornerThe FlexiArm side brush and mop system is the Qrevo Slims answer to ensuring that dust gets swept from corners not pushed into them. The FlexiArm brushes reach along the edges and around furniture legs, directing dirt toward the main suction. The mops, meanwhile, apply steady pressure for a polished finish for comprehensive coverage. This focus on edge-to-edge cleaning eliminates the need for touch-ups in hard-to-reach areas, enhancing the vacuums efficiency and reducing your manual cleaning time. No more wiping down corners after your vacuum conveniently leaves a trail of dust along the edge of each floor.Multifunctional Dock 3.0: Your All-in-One Cleaning HubWhen the Qrevo Slim needs to recharge or self-clean, it makes its way to its Multifunctional Dock. This advanced docking station is equipped with 8-in-1 maintenance functions that automate essential cleaning tasks. With features like hot water mop washing, warm air drying, auto dust emptying, and tank refilling, the dock keeps the vacuum ready for action while minimizing manual upkeep. The automated mop washing and drying system, in particular, ensures that the mops remain sanitary and effective for every cleaning session, removing residue buildup that can impact performance. The docks intelligent dirt detection feature can sense when dust and debris accumulate, automatically emptying the vacuum to keep suction at its peak. Whether for daily cleaning or extensive deep cleans, the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 provides a seamless, self-maintaining system that truly supports a set it and forget it lifestyle.Intuitive Control Through the Roborock App and Built-in Voice AssistantRoborock makes controlling the Qrevo Slim a breeze with its user-friendly app and built-in voice assistant. The Roborock app allows users to customize cleaning schedules, set no-go zones, and adjust suction powerall from the convenience of their smartphone. With real-time updates, you can monitor the vacuums progress, check battery levels, or even pause and resume cleaning on the go. The apps video monitoring feature also lets pet owners keep an eye on furry friends while the Qrevo Slim cleans, snapping photos or videos during its rounds. For hands-free convenience, the Qrevo Slim integrates with voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri, enabling commands like Start cleaning, Return to dock, or Clean the living room. These voice commands make it easy to control the vacuum without lifting a finger. Whether youre adjusting settings through the app or issuing quick voice commands, Roborocks intuitive interface ensures you have full control of your cleaning routine with minimal effort. Our Verdict: The Perfect Next-Gen Robot Vacuum with Zero FlawsRoborocks Qrevo Slim redefines what a robot vacuum can accomplish. With industry-first StarSight advanced navigation technology, 11,000 Pa suction, and an ultra-slim build, it combines intelligence with impressive power to reach even the most challenging spots in your home. Its a cleaning companion that makes cleanliness simple, stylish, and secure.Ultimately, your smart home appliances should be smart enough that they NEVER need monitoring. The Qrevo Slim proves that by being advanced enough to map and navigate your home better than some self-driving cars, while automatically fine-tuning its cleaning based on floors, rugs, and corners. The Multifunctional Dock 3.0 means the robot vacuum will even automatically charge and clean itself, leaving only one task for you admiring your spotless floors, along with the occasional pet photo the Qrevo Slim clicks for you!Click Here to Buy Now: $999.99 $1399.99 ($400 off). Power bank concept is not only ergonomic but even comes with a mirror
If youre staying outside your house or office for a certain period of time, its almost always required that you need to bring a power bank. Well, unless youre one of those people who can live without looking at their smartphone (or your device has a lot of juice). But for the rest of us that need our smartphones almost always, a power bank is attached to our bag as well as our devices. We dont really think about the design of our power banks but some product designers do. Designer: Anil Ramesh, Arun Kumar, Joel Dsilva (Analogy Design Studio)The folks over at Analog thought about adding a bit more functionality to the power bank and make it easier for users to carry it around. They focused on usability, portability, and aesthetics, the latter of which we dont really think about as long as it gets the job done. But since we probably hold the power banks alongside our phone, it makes sentse to make it look better and also make it ergonomic. The power bank has an elongated design rather than the normal brick version that most of them have. It actually looks like a cosmetic case and since thats the look theyre going for, they added a beauty aspect to it. Theres a mirror inside of the power bank so you get another function for it aside from juicing up your device. The power banks come in various pastel colors and because of the added mirror function, it might appeal more to women or at least those who need mirror on the go and like the color scheme. The ergonomic function will also be useful for those who may have some grip or muscle issues from holding phones for a long time. 3D printed chess pawns transform into queens thanks to magnets and springs
Chess is a game that has existed for centuries, and it hasnt really changed much during that time, especially in recent decades. The rules of the game are pretty much the same, which includes power-ups that were invented way before the term even showed up in video games. Of course, these moves dont require any special piece outside of whats already included in the entire set, but that doesnt mean we cant do anything to spruce it up.This rather elaborate 3D printed design, for example, solves the practical problem of how to represent a pawn that has reached the opposite end and evolved into a queen. Sure, you can just try to remember which is which, but wouldnt it be easier if you had spare queen pieces instead? Better yet, why not just literally evolve the pawn instead, keeping the chess set simple, relatively? Designer: Works By DesignQueening is what happens when a pawn is crowned and gains the queens large movement powers when it reaches the opposite end of the board. In some cases, when your queen has already been captured, you can simply swap out the pieces. But what if your queen is still there or, by some stroke of luck, you have two pawns that become queens? This form-changing pawn is one solution that utilizes 3D printing, springs, magnets, and a rather complicated internal design. The challenge was to take a regular-sized pawn and have it not only expand to the size of a queen but also exhibit its features, particularly its flared crown. If youve ever watched Transformers, then you might get the idea more or less. The design underwent several iterations, particularly with the spring mechanism that holds the pieces together and then pushes them out to expand. In the end, the simpler version won out, though the final pawn size was definitely larger than normal. Fortunately, it still fits within international standards, so it probably wont be contested in an official match. The 3D-printed pawn uses magnets in its feet to trigger the expansion mechanism, so placing it on any metal surface, like the back row of this custom-made chess board, would make it spring into action, so to speak. Its definitely a convoluted design for a rather simple problem, but it also adds a bit of excitement and thrill to the game, becoming a goal of its own in addition to actually winning the match. The post 3D printed chess pawns transform into queens thanks to magnets and springs first appeared on Yanko Design.
