• Pokmon TCG Pocket to add Tool cards and they could dramatically shake up battles
    www.polygon.com
When youve filter through your collection in Pokmon Trading Card Game Pocket, you may notice an option to filter for Pokmon Tool cards. Theres nothing ever there, because Pokmon TCG Pocket doesnt currently have any Pokmon Tool cards. But that appears to be changing with the Space-Time Expansion announced Thursday. When the update is released on Jan. 30, its likely that the 140 new cards will include at least several Pokmon Tool cards, as evidenced by the description of one card shown during the teaser trailer. The Pachirisu ex card has a move called Sparkling Gadget, which mentions having a Pokmon Tool attached. Its the first mention of the card type beyond the filter system. Its still unclear how the Pokmon Tool cards will function in Pokmon TCG Pocket, but theyre likely to be similar to the physical trading card game. Pokmon Tool cards are basically like held items in the video games: if you attach a Float Stone to a Pokmon in the physical card game, retreat cost is decreased, for instance. There, you can attach berries, stones, shards all sorts of things that add a new variable to how the cards interact in the game.Trainer cards in the game, so far, are Items, Fossils, or Supporters. Pokmon Tool cards add another element to slide into your decks.A lot hinges on how Tool cards are implemented. Will the Pokmon Company increase the amount of cards you can hold in your deck due to the new card type? Will the cards be adjusted for Pokmon TCG Pocket? Theres still a lot that we dont know, but it could be an interesting variable that injects some freshness into the battling system, which can feel stale when the same decks get run over and over again. Without a deck size increase, the addition of tools means players will have to strategize over whether to prioritize Tool cards or other types theres likely to be more variety seen across decks as players decide what better suits their particular playstyle over purely whats in the meta.An increase of deck size would be a major change to Pokmon TCG Pocket, and it feels less likely that well see that. But theres really only one guarantee: Come next week, with the injection of 140 cards into the game, expect a meta shakeup and tons more cards to collect.

  • How to Archive your Cybertruck and other items in Fortnite
    www.polygon.com
Generally speaking, the Archive feature in Fortnite is used to hide ugly items while picking out cosmetics for a character. However, since the inaugurationofDonald Trump on Monday, Fortnite players have been using the feature for a very specific reason: to remove the Tesla Cybertruck from the game. Its all in response to an event on Monday, where Tesla CEO Elon Musk performed a gesture that many said looked remarkably like a Nazi salute twice while live on stage. Since then, people have been protesting Musk in all kinds of ways and Fortnite players have been discussing ways to remove the Tesla Cybertruck cosmetic item added to the game last July.Question, is it possible to message Epic support to remove something from your locker forever? wrote one user in Reddit post upvoted more than 4,300 times. After recent events I dont even want this thing in my archives even. Looking for genuine help on the matter.Unfortunately for the Cybertruck-havers, the Archive feature in Fortnite doesnt permanently delete an item from an account. It just hides it from the main Locker menu. But you can at least Archive it and forget it. So if youre among the people who are now regretting having the Cybertruck, heres how to Archive it (and other items) from your Fortnite Locker. How to Archive items in Fortnite Launch Fortnite on your device. Look at the top left-hand corner of the screen and select the Locker option. From the Locker menu, navigate to the item that you would like to hide. Once your cursor is highlighting the correct item, pull up a submenu for it. You can do this in two ways depending on your platform. If youre using a console, press and hold the left stick on your controller. If youre using a PC, click the button that pops up when you hover your mouse over it. Once you pull up the sub menu, select Archive Item and the item will disappear from your Locker. Does Archiving delete items in Fortnite?Archiving an item in Fortnite does not permanently delete it from your account. It will just hide it from your main Locker menu screens. If you would like un-Archive an item, here is how to do that.Launch Fortnite on your device. Look at the top left-hand corner of the screen and select the Locker option.Within the Locker menu, navigate to the kind of cosmetic item you previously Arhived. For example, if you Archived a Guitar, go to the Guitar section within the Instruments menu.Select the Sort Filter button located near the top right-hand corner of the screen next to the search bar. This will pull up a menu to sort your cosmetic items. On there, scroll down to the Filter section and select Archived option. Once selected, click the Apply button. This will pull up the item(s) you previously Archived. Once your cursor is highlighting the correct item, you will need to pull up a submenu for it. You can do this in two ways depending on your platform. If youre using a console, press and hold the left stick on your controller. If youre using a PC, click the button that pops up when you hover your mouse over it.Then click Unarchive Item. It will show up in your Locker as usual after that. Some people online have wondered if the support team at Epic Games could remove a particular cosmetic item from their account. Polygon reached out to Epic Games to ask if this is a possible avenue for consumers to permanently delete items from their account, and well update the article as we hear back.

  • This Samsung S85D OLED TV Is at Its Lowest Price Right Now
    lifehacker.com
We may earn a commission from links on this page. Deal pricing and availability subject to change after time of publication. The 65 Samsung S85D OLED TV is now $997.99 on Amazon. Thats $900 off its usual $1,897.99 price, and according to price-trackers, this is the lowest its ever been. Powered by Samsungs NQ4 AI Gen 2 processor, it promises improved performance and runs on the 2024 Tizen OS, offering voice control and easy casting from your phone. Its design includes adjustable feet for soundbar placement and cable management clips to keep things organized, though wall-mounting might be tricky due to recessed ports. And, while it comes with 20W 2.0 channel speakers (which are decent for casual viewing), they might not replace a dedicated sound system. The TV also supports voice assistants like Alexa and Bixby. Samsung - 65 Class S85D Series OLED 4K Smart Tizen TV (2024) $997.99 at Amazon $1,897.99 Save $900.00 Get Deal Get Deal $997.99 at Amazon $1,897.99 Save $900.00 The S85D uses a WOLED panel, delivering signature OLED perks like perfect blacks, vivid colors, and infinite contrast. Its a stunner in dark rooms, and thanks to excellent reflection handling and decent SDR brightness, it performs surprisingly well in well-lit spaces too. It also reportedly excels at upscaling low-resolution content to make older steams look better. Pair it with its fast response times (that keep motion looking smooth) and wide viewing angles and you have yourself a great TV for movie nights and gaming marathons. That said, the HDR performance of the S85D isnt as impactful as youd hope, especially in Game Mode where the TV's Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL) dims large, bright scenes. For gamers, this TV is PlayStation 5 and Xbox ready, supporting 4K at 120Hz, and offering features like Auto Low Latency Mode, FreeSync Premium Pro, HDMI 2.1, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for tear-free, low-lag gameplay. On the downside, it lacks Dolby Vision, limiting HDR gaming potential. Additionally, the TV's interface includes ads that cant be fully disabled. If youre exploring alternatives, the LG OLED B4 Series TV is worth a look, currently priced at $996.99 (down from $1,099.99).

  • Where to Stream Every Nominated Movie Before the 2025 Oscars
    lifehacker.com
Listen, there's a lot going on right now, and it may feel indulgent to get excited about something frivolous like the Academy Awards. But watching movies is self-care, and trying to catch up on the nominees before the ceremony on Sunday, March 2 will definitely be a good distraction. (The show, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will air on ABC but also stream on Oscars.com and its associated digital platformswhichever ones still exist by March). To help you prepare, I've rounded up all the nominees and done the work to figure out where they're available to watch on streamingthough some are still only in theaters as of this writing, I'll keep it updated as more things drop on digital platforms. Biggies that you can't yet watch at home include The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Im Still Here, Sing Sing, Nickel Boys, September 5. Then there's the documentary No Other Land, which doesn't even have a formal distribution deal in the U.S. as yet. Still, you already have quite a bit to catch up on (even before you branch out to would-be contenders like Challengers, Queer, and The Last Showgirl). Happy disassociating! Emilia Prez Despite being, shall we say: not universally loved by queer audiences, Spanish-language musical crime drama Emilia Prez managed to net a whopping 13 nominations, the most ever for a movie not in English. Among those is Karla Sofa Gasc for Best Actress, Oscar's first nod to an openly trans actress. You can stream Emilia Prez on Netflix.Nominations for: Best Picture, Actress (Karla Sofa Gascn), Supporting Actress (Zoe Saldaa), Directing (Jacques Audiard), Adapted Screenplay, International Feature, Cinematography, Original Score, Original Song x 2 (El Mal AND Mi Camino), Makeup and Hairstyling, Sound Emilia Prez at Netflix Learn More Learn More at Netflix Wicked Next up in the nomination tally is Wicked, the movie that dominated the end-of-year zeitgeist and the box officeit's tied for noms with The Brutalist, which isn't yet streaming. And it's another musical! No directing nomination for Jon M. Chu, which is always interesting for a film with this many nominations. Being the first of a planned two parter, Academy voters could be holding off until next year to send some witchy love Chu's way. You can rent Wicked from Prime Video.Nominations for: Best Picture, Actress (Cynthia Erivo), Supporting Actress (Ariana Grande), Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Original Score, Makeup and Hairstyling, Sound, Visual Effects Wicked (2024) at Prime Video Learn More Learn More at Prime Video Conclave Juicy, Vatican-based political thriller Conclave scored eight nominationsnot bad for the kind of straight-down-the-middle grownup movie that is rarely made these days. The nomination for Rossellini marks a first-ever Oscar nod for the actress, a surprise given her impressive career. You can stream Conclave on Peacock or rent it from Prime Video.Nominations for: Best Picture, Actor (Ralph Fiennes), Actress (Isabella Rossellini), Adapted Screenplay, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Original Score Conclave (2024) at Peacock Learn More Learn More at Peacock Anora Director Sean Baker has created a string of critically acclaimed films (Tangerine, The Florida Project, Red Rocket) that haven't broken through in terms of Oscar love. His latest, a comedy-drama following the troubled marriage between sex worker Ani and the son of a Russian oligarch, has earned six nominations this year, including four nods for Barker (Best Picture, directing, writing, and editing). I haven't seen it yet myself, but I'm a huge fan of his other films. You can rent Anora from Prime Video.Nominations for: Best Picture, Actress (Mikey Madison), Actor (Yura Borisov), Directing (Sean Baker), Original Screenplay, Editing Anora (2024) at Prime Video Learn More Learn More at Prime Video Dune: Part Two Five nominations definitely isn't bad, but it feels a little like Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic got lost in the shuffle this year. Still, a Best Picture nomination and a massive box office haul are no small consolation prizes. You can stream Dune: Part Two on Max and Netflix or rent it from Prime Video.Nominations for: Best Picture, Cinematography, Production Design, Sound, Visual Effects Dune: Part Two at Max Learn More Learn More at Max The Substance I can't think of many (any?) body horror pictures that have made it to the top-tier of Oscar hierarchy (Best Picture and Best Director nominations!) but the lion's share of attention for this one comes down to Demi Moore. She's received her first ever Oscar nomination here, and it's about time. You can stream The Substance on Mubi or rent to from Prime Video. Nominations for: Best Picture, Actress (Demi Moore), Directing (Coralie Fargeat), Original Screenplay, Makeup and Hairstyling The Substance at Prime Video Learn More Learn More at Prime Video Nosferatu Robert Eggers' lush, chilly vampire remake was polarizing to audiences (I loved it), but it managed good box office and did even better with critics. The movie's four nominations are all down to its striking visuals. You can stream A Real Pain on Hulu or rent it from Prime Video.Nominations for: Supporting Actor (Kieran Culkin), Original Screenplay A Real Pain at Hulu Learn More Learn More at Hulu Flow A gorgeously animated saga about a cat displaced by a flood, this Latvian film has been picking up awards left and rightdespite being dialogue-free and having been animated using open-source software. • Android's Identity Check feature is rolling out to Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices
    www.engadget.com
Google is releasing its previously announced Identity Check feature today, adding extra protection to "critical account and device settings" when you're not in a trusted location. With Identity Check enabled, you'll need to provide "explicit biometric authentication" to access certain account and phone settings, like changing your pin or disabling theft protection. You'll have to toggle the feature on in settings and add trusted locations where you don't want biometric authentication to be enabled before you use it. Google says the protections extend to your Google account or Samsung account as well, making it harder for someone to change your password just because they have your phone.Identity Check is rolling out to Google's Pixel devices running Android 15 now, and coming to Samsung Galaxy devices capable of running One UI 7 "in the coming weeks," which could line up with the February 7 launch of the Galaxy S25. Other Android phone makers should get the feature later this year.Along with the release of Identity Check, Google says that its Theft Detection Lock feature, which uses AI to detect when your phone has been forcibly taken from you and lock your screen, has now fully rolled out to devices running Android 10 and up. Both settings are absolutely worth enabling if you have a phone that supports them. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/mobile/smartphones/androids-identity-check-feature-is-rolling-out-to-pixel-and-samsung-galaxy-devices-193048987.html?src=rss
