  • Wife Of LA Rams Matthew Stafford Talks Sleep, Flu, Wildfires And Self-Care

[+] Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game at SoFi Stadium on January 30, 2022 in Inglewood, California. TGetty ImagesKelly Stafford might be the poster-child for sleep deprivation. Just days leading up to Super Bowl LIX, the wife of LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and the mother of four daughters under the age of seven opened up about the Staffords partnership with Sleep Number, her familys recent battle with the flu, their escape from the LA wildfires and the importance of asking for help.Good Sleep Is A Game-ChangerGood sleep has helped our marriage, reveals the Georgia native, adding that its been a game-changer.Stafford acknowledges what scientists have long said about sleep deprivation: irritability, arguments with her husband, mental health struggles and taking out her frustration on her kids are commonly associated with poor sleep.I appreciate Staffords honesty and vulnerability. Shes not alone. When it comes to poor sleep habits, an estimated 50 to 70 million Americans have chronic sleep disorders.Kelly Stafford, mother of four young daughters, relies on a strong support system including extended ... [+] family to manage the stressors of motherhood.Associated PressMORE FOR YOUWhile I cannot relate to the rigorous demands placed on an NFL quarterback, physicians like me can relate to long hours, grueling schedules and chronic sleep loss. In fact, studies have clearly associated poor sleep with several chronic conditions including heart disease, stroke, cancer and dementia.Lack of sleep also adversely impacts athletic performance. Increased risk of injury and decreased endurance, accuracy and reaction time are just a few ways that reduced sleep hurts players like Matthew Stafford. Its not just the pros who are affected. Sleep deficiency is associated with increased falls, broken bones, car crash injuries and death in adults, teens and children.Good sleep hygiene can reduce the risk of developing chronic illnesses such as heart disease, ... [+] cancer, depression and dementiagettyThe good news is that we know what tools are needed to optimize sleep. Good sleep hygiene includes going to bed at the same time every night, avoiding heavy meals or caffeine several hours before bedtime and using the bed for only sleep and sexno television, reading, phone or other devices. How much sleep is enough? The NIH recommends seven to eight hours of sleep each night for adults. The key is to aim for quantity AND high-quality sleep.Support Systems Are KeyStafford openly credits many individuals who help her deal with daily stressors. I am blessed with an incredible support system in my extended family, shares the podcast host. In their early years, a woman named Tatiana saved me and made it possible for the Staffords to raise young children in a city where they had no family. She also praises her NFL star husband for his calm demeanor and being the reason she can get through it all.Relying on a solid support system is crucial for our mental and physical health. Decreased stress, improved emotional and fewer physical health problems are just some of the benefits of leaning on others. But people still hesitate asking for help, especially women who are judged differently by society, according to Stafford. Women, indeed, face a double-standard to be perfect and to hide their pain with a smile. I feel like our society shames women for asking for help and I hate that. Women need to be able to ask for help and receive it. I couldnt agree more with Stafford on this issue. Asking for help is neither a weakness nor a luxury, but a necessity.Fires And The FluA firefighter monitors the spread of the Auto Fire in Oxnard, North West of Los Angeles, California. ... [+] AFP via Getty ImagesStafford feels very fortunate to have safely evacuated from the devastating wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles. Her family is safe and she is immensely grateful. She asked that people give whatever they can as the community continues to struggle. Stafford also imparts tremendous praise on the first responders in L.A. who are the heroes, and we dont ever thank them enough. The mother of four young girls had also shared a frightening experience with influenza. She and two of her daughters were very ill from the viral infection. Thankfully, they are all healthy now. But its a good reminder to all that it is still respiratory viral season, and the best way to protect ourselves from RSV, COVID-19 and influenza is by staying home if youre sick, washing hands and getting vaccinated (if eligible). If youre sick but need to go out, then wear a mask and practice distancing. As we head into Super Bowl weekend, I will wear my doctor-hat and reiterate Kelly Staffords health message to get high-quality sleep, practice self-care and ask for helpfrom serving appetizers to cleaning up after the game!

  • ChatGPT Search Is Now Free To Use Without An AccountIs It Safe?
    www.forbes.com
Open AIs ChatGPT search is now available to everyone, for free, even without an account. NurPhoto via Getty ImagesOpen AIs ChatGPT search is now available to everyone, for free, even without an account. Its a major move that makes ChatGPT available to a wider audience and it might persuade those who dont want to create an account just yet to use the service. There are many reasons for not wanting to set up a ChatGPT account and privacy is one of them. It should, in theory, limit the data that OpenAI can collect. But does this move actually make it safer and how do you protect your privacy when using ChatGPT search? What Is ChatGPT Search?ChatGPT search is an extension of ChatGPT with the ability to pull up real time, up to date information from the web. This differs from ChatGPT which answers questions based on the data on which its been most recently trained, an article in Vice explains.OpenAI describes the tool as follows: Now, chat can get you to a better answer: Ask a question in a more natural, conversational way, and ChatGPT can choose to respond with information from the web. Go deeper with follow-up questions, and ChatGPT will consider the full context of your chat to get a better answer for you.MORE FOR YOUIn December, OpenAI made ChatGPT search available to all logged-in users in regions where ChatGPT is available. However, it has now opened up to everyone, regardless of whether you have an account. As of February 5, 2025 ChatGPT search is now available to everyone, with no signup required, according to OpenAI.Unlike traditional search engines that primarily process your search queries, ChatGPTs interaction model is fundamentally different, says Angus Allan, senior product manager at CreateFuture. It maintains a conversation context, which means it's not just processing individual searches, but building a comprehensive understanding of your dialogue and generating personalised content in real time.By allowing users to express their questions in natural language, ChatGPT search can be an incredibly powerful tool to access information, he says. What Are The Risks Of Using ChatGPT Search?Using AI tools requires a lot of data, which can compromise your security and privacy, even if you are not signed in. OpenAI providing this service for free should indicate to savvy internet users that OpenAI is extracting some kind of value whether youre signed in or not, says Dr Andrew Bolster, senior research and development manager, data science at Black Duck.Adding to this, there is no verification of where, how, or what data is stored, processed, or used, says Josh Hickling, principal consultant at Pentest People. Sensitive details entered into the system could be stored outside the U.S. and U.K., remain unencrypted at rest, and be linked to a user account. If storage were ever compromised, data could potentially be traced back to a client, making users a target by association. This increases the risk of further attacks or targeting.Another problem whether you are signed in or not is misinformation ethics. This includes the concept of AI hallucination and how it might generate answers that are less accurate or almost a reflection of your own perspective rather than presenting the facts, says Manon Dave, an AI futurist.ChatGPT search has also been found to be vulnerable to manipulation by malicious third parties, using a method known as prompt injection, where text is hidden in a webpage and used by the tool instead of the normal site content, says Chelsea Hopkins, social media and PR manager at Fasthosts. This is because rather than giving a list of results for a query as you would do on Google, ChatGPT search gives you answers much like the standard model of ChatGPT would, however this time pulling data in real time rather than from a pre-existing bank of information. How Do The Risks Of ChatGPT Search Compare To Google Search? In Google Search, results are ranked based on Googles search algorithm, which considers hundreds of factors, such as authority, SEO optimisation, and similar, says This can result in more tailored responses but may lack direct attribution to specific sources. Neither approach is inherently better or worse, it depends on the actual users need, says Sowa. For general searches where a definitive source isnt crucial, GPT Search may provide more concise and context-aware answers, he concedes. However, when the credibility and traceability of information are crucial, Google Search should remain the preferred choice. While Google primarily tracks your search patterns and browsing behavior, ChatGPT processes and potentially retains entire conversations, says Allan. This means that if you inadvertently share sensitive information in the context of a conversation, it becomes part of that interaction history. Is ChatGPT Search Safer To Use If You Dont Sign In?Think ChatGPT search will be safe if you arent signed in? It might be a bit, but there are caveats, experts say. While using ChatGPT search without signing in does provide a layer of anonymity, ironically, it stops you from being able to opt out of model training, says Allan. According to OpenAIs privacy policy, only users with an account can opt out of model training, meaning if you dont sign in you have even less control over how your data is used.Avoid inputting sensitive data regardless, Sowa advises. Unauthenticated options should be treated with the same caution as an authenticated account. Organisations the size of OpenAI could more than likely connect the dots from various fingerprints and over time, correlate prompts to individuals if they really wanted to.By not signing in to ChatGPT search, the tool wont have a specific account to tie your prompts and details to, and so is therefore likely to be safer to use, says Hopkins. However, it still does store information such as device data, operating system information, and your IP address. This could all be used to link your conversation history with ChatGPT to you but its worth noting that this is all data that other search engines will be collecting as well.I asked ChatGPT owner OpenAI for a comment on this story and will update it if the firm responds.Boosting Privacy And Security While Using ChatGPT SearchBut youll be happy to hear, there are ways to boost privacy and security when using ChatGPT search. The best thing to do if youre worried about privacy or security is what you may already do if youre a conscientious browser user, says Dave. That is, use Incognito or Private browsing sessions to protect yourself from sharing context beyond the active session and a VPN if youd like to anonymise your machine and your location. And if you do decide to create an account and login, make sure you use a password manager such as the Passwords App on Apple devices, or LastPass, to create secure login details and activate any two factor authentication options available, says Dave.To enhance your privacy while using ChatGPT search, be aware of its limitations, says Allan. Dont share personal identifiable information, for example, you dont need to overshare or provide specific personal details to provide helpful responses. Second, if youre using it for professional purposes, establish clear guidelines about what information can be shared. Dont share trade secrets, and generalise your queries where possible. Is ChatGPT Search Safe?So is ChatGPT search safe to use since you dont have to sign in? The answer is, its complicated. Yet it is possible to protect yourself, if you are careful about the data you enter in to it and use security and privacy tools available to you.

  • Nvidia cuts RTX 4060 supply ahead of rumored RTX 5060 launch in March
    www.techspot.com
Rumor mill: With the GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti set to launch later this month, attention is turning toward Nvidia's future entries in the Blackwell line, namely the RTX 5060 series. According to reports, Team Green has started limiting the supply of RTX 4060 chips to manufacturing partners, a strong indication that the successor could arrive around the rumored March window. According to a report on the Board Channels forums, which features PC-related stories from sources close to supply chains and AIC partners in Asia, Nvidia has started reducing RTX 4060 supply as of February. If true, Nvidia will be slashing RTX 4060/Ti supply to AIC brand manufacturers by 60% compared to what they received in the fourth quarter of 2024. The reduction relates to the Asian region, but Nvidia would be expected to expand this change globally. The RTX 4060 hasn't seen noticeable price drops recently, a common sign of an upcoming successor as Nvidia clears inventory. However, price reductions may still occur soon. The RTX 4060 series is one of the most popular lineups among Steam survey participants. The laptop version is the second most common GPU in the chart, with the desktop variant in third place and the RTX 4060 Ti in fifth. It wouldn't be surprising to see the desktop 4060 eventually replace the RTX 3060 as the top GPU among participants. The RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti are both rumored to launch in March priced at $329 and $419, respectively. It's also claimed that the cards won't use 16-pin power connectors, sticking instead with the standard 8-pin connectors found in the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti.However, unlike the current-gen RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti, the RTX 5060 series is said to require at least a 650W power supply, up from the 550W needed for its predecessors. The memory configurations will likely carry over to the new generation 8GB for the 5060, and 16GB/8GB versions for the 5060 Ti except the Blackwells will use GDDR7. // Related StoriesThe RTX 5000 series is proving to be a major disappointment in the eyes of most gamers. If you want an even better illustration of why, check out our feature: Nvidia's RTX 5080 is Actually an RTX 5070.

  • Windows 10's extended support starts at $61 per device, Microsoft reveals new details
    www.techspot.com
What just happened? As the clock ticks down to the official end of support for Windows 10 this October, Microsoft is encouraging users to upgrade to its latest operating system, Windows 11. But, as promised, it is also offering a path to those who wish to stick with the familiar Windows 10 environment. The problem? That path has turned out to be an expensive one. In a recently updated support document, Microsoft has revealed new details about its Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10. This program aims to provide critical security updates for users who are not ready to make the leap to Windows 11. However, this extended support comes at a price, which may cause some organizations to reconsider their IT strategies. The ESU program will be available for devices running Windows 10 version 22H2, with costs starting at $61 per device for the first year of coverage, from November 2025 to November 2026.Microsoft has also announced that these costs will double annually, with the program capped at three years. It's a pricing structure that seems designed to encourage eventual migration to Windows 11, rather than indefinite reliance on an aging operating system. The update confirms that the ESU program is cumulative, meaning that if an organization joins in the second year, it will be required to pay for the previous year's coverage as well. However, Microsoft has thrown some users a bone: Windows 10 virtual machines running in Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop will receive ESUs at no additional charge, a benefit for organizations heavily invested in Microsoft's cloud services. The company emphasizes that while Windows 10 PCs will continue to function after the end-of-support date, upgrading to Windows 11 is strongly recommended for "the best, most secure computing experience."But user adoption tells a different story. According to the latest data from Statcounter, Windows 10 continues to dominate the market with a 60.37 percent share of Windows installations. Windows 11, despite Microsoft's efforts, has only recently seen an uptick in adoption, reaching 36.6 percent in January 2025. This represents a notable increase from 34.12 percent the previous month, which is likely driven by the impending end of Windows 10 support. // Related StoriesThe narrowing gap between Windows 10 and Windows 11 usage is likely a welcome sight for Microsoft's OS team. However, the persistence of Windows 10's market dominance highlights Microsoft's challenges in convincing users to embrace the change.

  • This excellent game about waiting is the anti-WarioWare
    www.digitaltrends.com
How much of your life is spent waiting? Think about it. Waiting at the DMV, waiting for a train, waiting for an important phone call, waiting for your perpetually late friend to show up, waiting to grow up. Life is a long endurance test of patience.Thats the simple thesis of While Waiting, a new puzzle game thats deceptively emotional. On paper, it sounds like a one-note gag. It features 100 bite-sized levels, each tossing players into a familiar life experience that requires some form of waiting. Its like the anti-WarioWare, swapping five second microgames for drawn out ones that require virtually no reaction time. Dont let that light premise take your guard down, though: While Waiting is an ingenious bit of video game storytelling thatll stick with you so long as youve got the patience to see it through.Recommended VideosWhile Waiting is unassuming at first. Im quickly tossed into levels with mundane objectives. One requires me to wait for the bus, milling around for a few minutes until it arrives. Another has me waiting for commercials to pass on TV. Each level can be completed by doing absolutely nothing. Its a high-concept idea that might leave you wondering just how much a studio can do with that premise. While Waiting - Launch TrailerA lot, it turns out. For one, each level has a couple of objectives players can complete while waiting. In one puzzle, Im a kid waiting for Santa Claus to deliver presents on Christmas. I can just lay in bed and pretend to sleep for a few minutes if I want, earning me a badge for simply waiting. I can also get out of bed and mess with the big guy by turning on my fireplace or switching out my stocking. Others are more imaginative. When Im waiting for a rainstorm to pass, I can dip into a cafe and look out the window, which becomes a screen on which I can play an arcade game with the falling raindrops. Each level is a clever surprise that gives me a reason to replay them and find each hidden objective.RelatedThats not what makes While Waiting special, though. The deeper it goes, the more its narrative ambitions come into view. I soon realize that Im not just playing through random scenarios; Im following a character through his entire life. I start out as a kid, goofing around at home with my parents and sitting through school days. I cant wait to grow up, and I do after about 30 levels. Then, Im a college student waiting for my independence. Soon, Im the same age that my parents were when I started. What begins as a gimmick quickly evolves into a full life portrait told through small moments.Im sure you can guess what it all builds to.OptillusionWhile Waitings strength lies in how well it balances absurdity, beauty, and tragedy throughout its 100 levels. It has the comedic bent of Thank Goodness Youre Here, but the grounded emotions of Florence. Those two ideas are symbiotic. Early on, Im laughing at what a devilish piece of game design it is. Each level is a torture trap that plays with my impatience. I cant wait to blow through them and see whats next. But at some point, I become aware of the passage of time. My character is getting older. His life is more complicated. People in his life are dying. His kid is growing up too fast. As the levels progress, I start praying that theyll move slower. Why did I spend so much of my time here waiting for my sweet childhood moments to end?Thats the heart of While Waiting: Its a story about not taking life for granted. It sees no difference between the big moments and the small ones. Everything, from waiting for your wife to give birth to waiting for an elevator, is precious. Theyre fleeting seconds that well never get back. Its not nihilistic about that. Rather, it cherishes every moment it can, no matter how insignificant it may seem. While Waiting requires a lot of patience to get there, but thats the point. The wait is the journey. While Waiting is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC.Editors Recommendations
