Valve has seemingly introduced new rules that ban games that require users to watch paid ads (or rely on other such ad-based revenue models) from Steam. However, some sources report that these rules may have already existed, and that Valve has merely created a dedicated page on Steamworks to clarify this policy.The page explains that Steam does not contain paid advertising, and that advertising-based revenue models are not allowed on the platform. It further states that developers are also prohibited from using advertising as a way to provide value to players, such as giving players an in-game reward for watching or engaging with ads."Developers should not utilize paid advertising as a business model in their game, such as requiring players to watch or otherwise engage with advertising in order to play, or gating gameplay behind advertising," the rule reads in part. Hold your competitive rank close, because its going to disappear next week when Marvel Rivals mid-season patch drops. In a dev diary post today, developer NetEase announced that ranks will be reset twice per season: once at the beginning and once halfway through.After careful observations and consideration, we have concluded that players ranks during the first half of Season 1 are the best indicator of their competitive skills within the season, it wrote. So, we will be introducing [an] additional rank reset to better align with the upcoming content and changes!Next week, on Feb. 21, everyones rank will go down four divisions. Marvel Rivals has three divisions per rank (except for the top two ranks: Eternity and One Above All), so if you were Gold I, youll drop down to Silver II when the rank reset happens. At the start of new seasons, your rank will go down six divisions. NetEase says it will tune this if the competitive mode turns into pure chaos as everyone settles into their proper rank.According to public account data from RivalsTracker, most people who actually play competitive are somewhere around Silver I to Gold III, which means a big pool of players will be partying in bronze for a while.Anyone grinding for the Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin will have to hit Gold III by next Friday. Once the mid-season patch hits, a new skin reward will take its place. Additionally, you will now have to finish 10 matches to earn it, preventing high-rank players from getting it without having to play the game.The rank reset might hit certain players harder than others depending on what major balance adjustments NetEase says its making with the patch. Most people will tell you that healers are absurdly overpowered right now, while others would just like Moon Knights ultimate to behave properly. And theres no telling what will happen when the Thing and Human Torch start showing up in matches either.

Sid Meiers Civilization 7 doesnt officially launch until Tuesday, but players have already assembled a laundry list of criticisms for the latest installment of the 4X franchise, many of them pointed particularly at the obtuse UI and lack of basic features from previous entries. Firaxis has already released a statement detailing plans for upcoming changes to the game. However, one particularly dedicated player, who has been trying the game during its early access window, has already released a mod aimed at alleviating some of these issues.The Simple UI Adjustments mod, developed by Sukritact, adds a variety of tooltips when hovering over tiles, including descriptions of wonders built on specific tiles, smaller plot yield icons on undeveloped tiles, and the ability to initiate diplomacy with other civs by clicking on their city banners. The changes are relatively minor, but save you the hassle of opening up the Civilopedia or digging through additional menus to find specific information.Civilization 7 isnt available to all players just yet, so there isnt a convenient Steam Workshop page for downloading or managing mods. But thankfully, downloading and installing this mod is a relatively simple process of dropping the necessary folder in your Civ 7 mods folder, which should be labeled something like {user}\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meiers Civilization VII\Mods. To confirm youve got everything in the right place, you can look in the Mods menu under Additional Content, where the mod should show up as enabled.Even though the game has only been available to early access players since Feb. 6, Sukritact has also developed another Civ 7 mod that removes the unlock requirements for all of the civilizations, which are typically limited based on your chosen leader and hitting certain prerequisites during certain ages. While its still disappointing that features like the ability to rename cities or units werent present in Civilization 7 at launch, at the rate the modding community is moving, I dont think well have to wait very long.
