  • Minecraft Creator Notch Offers a Look at His New Upcoming Game
    cgshares.com
The gaming industry kicked off 2025 with an unexpected and exciting announcement from Markus Notch Persson, the creator of Minecraft, who revealed his intention to develop a spiritual successor to Minecraft, which he described as basically Minecraft 2.Less than a week later, however, the excitement was snuffed out whenNotch abruptly canceled his plans, stating that he and his team at Bitshift Entertainment would instead continue focusing on Levers and Chests, a retro-style first-person roguelike announced alongside the studio itself in 2024. To prove that he is 100% serious this time, the developer recently posted a series of screenshots offering a sneak peek at the early iterations of some of L&Cs features.Shared over on Twitter, the screenshots offer a look at the roguelikes voxel graphics, inventory UI, and newly designed portraits for in-game characters Mark and Reverie, which differ from the placeholder AI-generated portraits demonstrated by Notch last year. The images also feature several mobs, who heavily resemble upgraded and more detailed versions of Minecraft zombies, and highlight some procedural world generation explorations.Additionally, the developer showcased a couple of cool-looking glitches in the games raytraced voxel renderer, which appeared when changing it to be rendered from the back-facing faces instead of the front. Based on all the screenshots released by Notch, Levers and Chests is currently in its pre-alpha stage, and if Minecrafts history is anything to go by, its not out of the question that the first versions of L&C could be publicly released as early as this year provided pre-alpha aligns with Minecrafts Indev phase.FollowNotch on Twitterfor more updates and dont forget to join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Minecraft Creator Notch Offers a Look at His New Upcoming Game appeared first on CG SHARES.

  • Players Wont Be Missing Out If Sticking With One Protagonist In Assassins Creed Shadows
    cgshares.com
Jonathan Dumont, the Creative Director of Assassins Creed Shadows, has assured fans that theyll enjoy the freedom to switch between the two protagonists, shinobi Naoe and samurai Yasuke, and will be free from the potential pressure of having to try to split the time.In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jonathan shared insights into the games dual protagonist design. Both characters will receive their own introduction and questline; thats to say, Yasuke cant play Naoes personal questline. However, according to Dumont, an estimated 80-90% of AC Shadows can be played as either Yasuke, who boasts strength, or Naoe, who is more skilled at stealth. The core story can be accessed no matter which character has been chosen. Therefore, players wont be missing out on things too much if only one role is largely played. The core of the game can be pick your character and the game adapts. There is an advantage to switching roles, though, since each of them has a unique gameplay style that brings fresh experiences. Thats a reason that Dumont believes players could consider doing so. Usually I play stealth and then I play, all right, let me destroy some camps and stuff all right for a while. And then I just change like that, Dumont shared his own experiences. Have fun with the game, just play it as you want.UbisoftAs Ubisofts last chance at a comeback, the newest installment of the franchise ties up closely with the fate of the iconic developer. Failure to achieve success in both critical response and commercial performance could be fatal and reduce Ubisofts leverage in negotiations with potential buyer Tencent. Hence, its pretty necessary to guarantee a positive player experience, making more of them happy if possible. The last delay from February 14 to a month later aims to allow more time for the team to bring an engaging Day-1 experience, and the game will feature a CANON mode so players who dont like making choices wont be struggling.Last week, the content of The Art of Assassins Creed Shadows art book appeared on a website, revealing key details about the games story, setting, characters, UI, and more.Join our 80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Players Wont Be Missing Out If Sticking With One Protagonist In Assassins Creed Shadows appeared first on CG SHARES.

  • Get six months of Apple Music for just $3
    www.engadget.com
If youre currently in the market for a music-streaming subscription, have we got a deal for you. Pick up six months of Apple Music for just $3. Thats not a typo. This discount brings the price down to, checks math, $0.50 per month. The cost is typically $11 per month, so todays sale represents a savings of more than $60. The usual caveats apply. This is an enticement to bring in new subscribers, so current members are out of luck (myself included.) Its also not available for those who currently qualify for a three-month free trial of the service. Finally, this deal must be redeemed on an Apple device, and only iPhones running iOS 16 and later, Mac computers running MacOS 13 and later and the Vision Pro headset are applicable here. Apple Music is a fine little streaming platform. The audio quality is on point, with lossless streaming available at no charge, and the UI is easy-to-navigate. It may not allow exclusive access to Joe Rogan episodes, like Spotify, but thats because Apple Music seems dedicated to, well, music. To that end, the app places a heavy emphasis on curation. There are all kinds of playlists that were created by actual humans, and they receive regular updates. Many artist pages include playlists of deep cuts, essential hits and more. Albums are often accompanied by a review or synopsis, which is a nice touch. The app also gives access to several live radio stations that are hosted by actual DJs, and not AI simulacrums. Apple Music still uses an algorithm for many of its custom playlists unique to each user, but the human touch is still appreciated. The Spotify algorithm for discovering new music is a bit more adventurous, but the Apple algo gets the job done. On the downside, the service works best on Apple devices. Theres also no free tier, which is something of a bummer. To that end, make sure you cancel before the six months runs out, if its not your bag. Otherwise, youll start getting charged $11 each month. Offer for eligible new subscribers redeeming on eligible devices. Auto-renews at $10.99/mo after offer period until cancelled. Offer not available if you are eligible for a 3-months free Apple Music offer. Terms apply. Elon Musk has launched a $97.4 billion bid for AI darling OpenAI. The Wall Street Journal reported that a group of investors led by Musks xAI submitted an unsolicited offer to the companys board of directors on Monday. Its a bid for the non-profit that controls OpenAIs for-profit arm.OpenAI is not a traditional company, and the non-profit structure Sam Altman and others at the company want it to get away from may, in fact, protect it from Musks offer.Theres further drama around all this: Musk had sued OpenAI and Sam Altman for allegedly ditching its non-profit mission around this time last year.An OpenAI spokesperson pointed Engadget to an X post from CEO Sam Altman that said, No thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want. Musks purchase of Twitter was a heady lump of money that didnt lead to a typical ROI. It did, however, help him attach himself to President Trumps successful bid for office.
