  • Architecture business conditions in January slightly improve but remain depressed, says AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index
    archinect.com
The latest AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index (ABI) for January has recorded a slightly slowing decline to 45.6. For the month, inquiries for new projects continued to rise at a steady, slow pace, while the value of newly signed design contracts dropped for the eleventh month in a row. This is the third consecutive ABI to record a decline. Any score below 50.0 indicates decreasing business conditions.Billings were shown to be soft across all regions and specializations. Firms with a commercial/industrial focus reported the most significant decline in business conditions, but weakness was observed across all sectors. Business conditions remained weakest in the Northeast, continuing a trend from recent months."Stubborn inflation, persistently high interest rates, and labor concerns continue to weigh on the willingness of owners and developers to move ahead with construction projects," said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker. "Architecture firms have been moving to right-size their...

  • 15 Best PS One Titles of All Time (2025 Edition)
    gamingbolt.com
Sony has achieved greater heights with each subsequent generation of consoles, but its always worth looking back on where it all began the PlayStation One. Despite being relatively new to the market, it shook up the gaming world with incredible exclusives, both first and third-party, that remain relevant even today. Lets look at 15 of the best PS One titles of all time, starting with15. Need for Speed: High StakesWhen players still had some measure of sympathy and expectations from Electronic Arts, the Need for Speed series delivered its fourth title High Stakes. It featured new additions to the timeworn formula, including realistic damage, a deeper Hot Pursuit mode where players could control the police and tournaments. High Stakes also pushed the limits of risk vs reward, resulting in some real high stakes (pun fully intended).

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be Priced at $399 to Avoid Alienating Customers Analyst
    gamingbolt.com
While Nintendo is getting ready to reveal more details about its next console, the Switch 2, during an event slated for April 2nd, a key subject of speculation has been the systems price. SuperData Research co-founder Joost van Dreunen analyst believes it will be priced similarly to the original Nintendo Switch to avoid alienating existing customers. In an analysis of Nintendos strategies for its next console, he predicts a $399 price tag for the Switch 2. The price tag represents a critical psychological threshold that balances premium hardware aspirations against mainstream market accessibility. He also notes that the price tag would allow Nintendo to profit from selling the Switch 2 while keeping it priced well under other consoles in the market. This helps the company since the new console is entering an incredibly different market from when the Switch came out.The rise of handheld gaming systems has also seemingly affected Nintendos plans, according to van Dreunen, with systems like the Steam Deck offering PC gaming at lower costs than a bespoke gaming PC. On Nintendos side, however, is its strong first-party releases, which often drive more console sales. The emergence of premium handheld devices like Valves Steam Deck and the Asus ROG Ally, far from presenting direct competition, validates Nintendos strategic positioning, he wrote. While these devices occupy similar form factors, their positioning at $549+ price points with PC gaming ecosystems creates clear market segmentation. Nintendo has a proven ability to maintain platform profitability through strategic pricing.van Dreunen also notes that the Switch 2 is entering a market that doesnt have strict delineations between various console generations. Rather, customers are more keen on hanging on to their digital game libraries, an aspect that Nintendo has seemingly acknowledged considering the Switch 2s backward compatibility. For Nintendo, the Switchs eight-year tenure aligns with industry-wide trends toward digital monetization reducing dependency on hardware refresh cycles, notes van Dreunen. Nintendos strategic focus on backward compatibility for Switch 2 suggests the company views platform longevity as core to maintaining its efficient capital deployment model. Rather than cyclical hardware releases driving growth, the emphasis has shifted to maximizing software revenue and digital engagement across extended platform lifecycles. The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled back in January. While we dont know much about the console, the announcement offered a closer look at the new features. These include a larger display, re-designed aesthetics focusing more on accent colours, and a new mechanism to attach and detach the JoyCons. The Switch 2 will also be fully backwards compatible with all Switch games, both physical and digital. More details will be revealed later, though some niche titles may be unsupported on the new console. While software support for the Switch 2 is currently unknown, Nintendo teased a new Mario Kart for the console in its announcement video. Rumours indicate that a host of third-party companies are working on games for the console, including Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Konami.
