Youll see plenty of free ones around, but most of these only scan for infection and wont remove anything until you move to the paid version which makes sense as it is providing a professional service. We recommend taking a look at our Best Mac Antivirus Software chart to see the products that weve tested and found to be the most reliable. A prime example is Intego Mac Security X9, which tops the chart at the time of writing. You can find out more in our Intego Mac Security X9 review. Using this software should locate and remove any malware from your Mac that MyFlixer (or any other site) has managed to install on your system. You can read a more detailed explanation of the process in our How to remove a virus from your Mac tutorial.Petter AhrnstedtWhile the immediate threat is dealt with by antivirus, there can still be files and other junk left behind, so wed also recommend you use a Mac Cleaner app to completely return your Mac to a pristine state. CleanMyMac is an excellent option, with a friendly and easy to understand interface that allows you to know what needs fixing without bombarding you with confusing information. You can find out more in our CleanMyMac review.Once you have these apps on your Mac, its a good idea to run them periodically to ensure your data is safe and that your system is running to its full potential. How to avoid the MyFlixer virusWhile free streaming sites might seem incredibly tempting, theres often a hidden cost involvedand it can be nasty. Basically, if youre being offered something that you know youd normally have to pay for, then the chances are its some kind of scam or delivery method for malware. So, to stay safe, dont visit those sites and certainly dont download anything from them. Thats just asking for trouble. If you really want to enjoy movies and TV shows on your Mac, then the safest way is through a paid service. It means youre not ripping off the people that work hard to create the content and arent playing into the hands of cybercriminals that want to steal your data. You dont have to sign up to all of them at the same time though. Most services offer free trials, so you could always work your way through those first. When youve exhausted those, simply sign up to one and binge what you want, then cancel your subscription and repeat the process on the next one. This way you minimise what you have to pay, while ensuring you dont get any dangerous malware on your computer. FAQ 1.What is MyFlixer?A site that offers free TV and movie streaming, often of pirated content from other studios.2.Is MyFlixer safe? No. There are usually prompts for notifications, extensions and downloads that can contain adware and malware.3.Is MyFlixer legal?Distrubuting content for which the site doesnt have copyright is illegal. This is why the site has been banned or blocked in various countries.4.How to block MyFlixer ads?Change the settings in your browser to block pop-up ads and notifications.5.How to protect your Mac from MyFlixer virus?Install and use a quality antivirus app and run a Mac Cleaner app afterwards to remove any remaining artifacts from your system.

  • DOOM: The Dark Ages Studio Director Believes That The Story is an Important Part of the Game
    gamingbolt.com
id Software studio director Marty Stratton has revealed why the most recent trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages had so much emphasis on its story, considering the fact that the franchise has been traditionally known for its focus on gameplay. In an interview with EDGE (via GamesRadar), Stratton revealed that this was done because the stories in the newer DOOM games have been quite popular.Stratton spoke about how, despite the minimal storytelling in DOOM 2016, with the protagonist even going out of their way to throw audiologs out of their way, players ultimately ended up enjoying digging intot he games lore.In so many interviews, we sit down with somebody and their first question is about the story, said Stratton. Theres YouTube channels dedicated to analyzing every little bit of iconography. We have data that shows that in DOOM Eternal an extremely large percentage of people who play through the game watch the cutscenes.A DOOM game that doesnt have a story is just an arcade game, Stratton continued, explaining why the story in DOOM: The Dark Ages is such an integral part of the game. Yes, there are people who like that experience, but, well, thats what the skip button is for.It is worth noting that DOOM Eternal placed a much larger emphasis on its story than its predecessor. Quite a bit of the background lore was expanded on not only through text-only lore entries and item descriptions, but also through cutscenes and conversations. The latest trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages was released back in January during Microsofts Xbox Developer_Direct. Along with giving us a better look at the game, the trailer had also revealed that the title would be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 15.Since the trailers release, id Software has been revealing quite a few details about the upcoming shooter. Game director Hugo Martin, for instance, revealed that DOOM: The Dark Ages will have the largest spaces that the studio has ever made.Despite the size of these levels, however, Martin also said that they were designed in a way that players wont have to end up spending two hours on just exploring without action to break things up. The large levels will also give players plenty of variety as they take on demons. You might start in a dungeon-like space, then open up in the second half of the level into a more open-ended portion, Martin said. Were trying to make sure the player feels theres a good amount of variety.Martin had also revealed that the studio likes to revisit the original DOOM from 1993 to get more inspiration. He compares this to a painter visiting a museum to study a Norman Rockawell painting. Its like a classic piece of art, said Martin. Its like a painter going to a museum and studying the Norman Rockwell painting hes already studied 50 times. Every time you look at it, you learn something new.For more details about DOOM: The Dark Ages, check out our interview with Martin and Stratton, where the duo revealed details about various aspects like custom difficulty options, the games medieval fantasy setting, and the lack of multiplayer. In the meantime, also check out 15 new things weve learned about the upcoming game.

  • Marathon Details on SteamDB Indicate That Pre-Order Announcement Might Be Close Rumour
    gamingbolt.com
Changes to the Steam listing for Bungies upcoming game Marathon indicate that we might be getting pre-order details soon. While the Steam listing for Marathon has existed for quite some time now, a recent changed added a host of new app types to Steams backend. While the SteamDB details on it are sparse, with the type being Unknown, them being listed alongside the base game for Marathon indicates that it might be various editions for the game, and even some DLC.Traditionally, Bungies other major title, Destiny 2, has always launched its expansions alongside a host of different smaller DLCs, as well as with various editions that include the Annual Pass for that year. This could most recently be seen with the last major Destiny 2 expansion, The Final Shape. This update to Steams backend would indicate that previous rumours about Bungie getting ready to reveal more details about Marathon might be closer to the truth. Back in February, Giant Bombs Jeff Grubb indicated that Bungie might be getting ready for a Marathon showcase event in April.Speaking about Marathon being missing from Sonys last State of Play showcase, Grubb spoke about Bungie traditionally doing its own things for its games, including special showcases for announcements.Theyre probably going to do their own thing, said Grubb. Bungie does their own thing usually for Destiny, theyre going to adopt that same Were talking to our audience strategy this year as well, so I think April. Well probably hear from them about Marathon, and it would just be its own thing separate from a State of Play.In the meantime, Bungie has been continuing its playtests for Marathon. Back in October 2024, director Joe Ziegler spoke about expanding playtests for the game and bringing in more players to get more feedback. He said that Bungie is expanding our playtests a little bit wider and wider. Were looking to add a significant amount of players to each of our milestones as were going forward, and some of these big inflections are opportunities for you all to join us.Bungie has been relatively quiet about Marathon since its release. October, however, saw the company reveal two of the games playable characters, dubbed Runners, through concept art. The two Runners, codenamed Thief and Stealth, will have their own unique abilities. Some more details about Marathon could also be gleaned from a behind-the-scenes video that Bungie had released all the way back in 2023. The video focused on how emergent storytelling thanks to players actions would be a core component of the game. While the upcoming game shares the same name as the classic shooter series, we dont yet know how much of the storyline will be followed in Marathon. For those that might want to check out the older shooters, however, Bungie released the classic shooter trilogy on PC for free. The original Marathon, as well as sequels Marathon 2: Durandal and Marathon Infinity can be played on PC through Steam. Revisiting the classic titles will also reveal to newer players just how many aspects of various Bungie games over the years first originated from Marathon, including concepts like AI Rampancy that played a big role in the Halo franchise.
