  • Assassin's Creed Shadows On PS5 Pro Will Have An Extra-Fancy Ray Tracing Mode
    www.gamespot.com
Ahead of its release later this month, Ubisoft has shared a few details on the graphical performance for Assassin's Creed Shadows on PS5 and PS5 Pro. This is the first Assassin's Creed game to be made specifically for current-gen consoles, and on PS5 hardware, there'll be three graphical modes to choose from. Ubisoft noted that PS5 Pro is the only console that supports extended ray tracing, which offers ray-traced reflective surfaces throughout the game world. On PS5, players looking for a 60fps experience will want to stick with Performance mode, as this offers an upscaled 4K resolution and selective ray tracing that is used to compute global illumination for diffuse lighting in the Hideout portion of the game, according to a Ubisoft blog post. Fidelity mode offers upscaled 4K with standard ray tracing, but this means you'll play the game at 30fps. For the best of both worlds, Balanced mode is upscaled 4K at 40fps with standard ray tracing, but it does require a 120/240hz display and HDMI 2.1.For the PS5 Pro, the specs sound more impressive as Performance mode is 4K upscaled with 60fps and standard ray tracing, while Fidelity mode is 4K upscaled with 30fps and extended ray tracing. Like the base PS5, Balanced mode on PS5 Pro also requires a 120/240hz display and HDMI 2.1, and it offers a 4K upscaled experience with 40fps and extended ray tracing.Continue Reading at GameSpot

  • Rogue Pinatas: VRmageddon Review
    gamerant.com
Roguelikes are a dime a dozen on PC and consoles, but they are harder to come by in the virtual reality space. While there are a few great roguelike games readily available for the various virtual reality headsets on the market, there's still plenty of untapped potential when it comes to VR roguelikes. Rogue Pinatas: VRmageddon is the latest attempt at a VR roguelike game, featuring seemingly never-ending hordes of deadly pinatas for players to smash and shoot through. Unfortunately, Rogue Pinatas: VRmageddon is one of the weaker roguelike VR games.

  • Final Fantasy Should Hop Back on the Kart Racing Train Alongside Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, Mario Kart 9
    gamerant.com
Given the recent reveals of Mario Kart 9 and Sonic Racing Crossworlds, it would appear that the kart racing subgenre is back in full swing. Plenty of franchises have tried and failed to compete with the seminal Mario Kart series over the years, leveraging brand recognition and simple controls to achieve similar cultural dominance, though precious few endeavors have yielded enduring classics, and plenty fail in spectacular fashion.
