    www.cnet.com
According to the CDC, it is estimated that over 1 in 7 US adults has chronic kidney disease. This can cause excess waste and fluid to build up in the body, leading to health problems like heart disease, increased infections, depression, anemia and loss of appetite. The kidneys are essential for overall health. To give your kidneys some love, there are foods you can add to your diet in the name of kidney health. Below, we outline 13 superfoods to eat, many of which you may already have in your fridge or pantry.13 foods supporting kidney health1. Fatty fishFish delivers protein, and when you choose a fatty fish like tuna, salmon or trout, you're also getting omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fats may help reduce fat levels (triglycerides) in the blood and may also lower blood pressure, according to theNational Kidney Foundation. If you have CKD, you may need to keep an eye on the phosphorus and potassium levels of the fish you choose. The National Kidney Foundation has a chart you can use to determine levels in specific types of fish. Although, it's best to consult with your doctor.2. CabbageThis nutrient-dense vegetable is low in both potassium and sodium while packing in fiber, vitamins C and K and more.Plus, cabbage is versatile. You can use it in salads and slaws, but you can also use it as a wrap for tacos, sandwiches and more. Jacobs Stock Photography/Getty Images3. Bell peppersLike cabbage, bell peppers pack in lots of good nutrients with low levels of potassium. With them, you get vitamins B6, B9, C and K, plus fiber. They deliver antioxidants too.You can slice them and eat them with dips or roast them and add them to dinner.Read more:8 Things Your Body Is Telling You About Your Vitamin Intake4. CranberriesCranberries help to prevent urinary tract infections. These usually stay in your bladder, they can travel up to your kidney, making kidney problems worse. Fortunately, regularly consuming cranberries can help you avoid this unwelcome situation.Plus, cranberries have antioxidants that can help fight inflammation, and they can boost your heart and digestive health. It turns out, these tart berries aren't just for the Thanksgiving table.5. BlueberriesWe've talked about some of the best foods for kidneys, but you can take it a step further. The question is: What foods help repair kidneys? Blueberriesdeliver. With high levels of antioxidants and loads of vitamin C and fiber, blueberries are all-around healthy. They can also help to reduce inflammation and support bone health, reversing some of the issues that can come with CKD.6. Dark, leafy greensThere are plenty of reasons to turn to dark, leafy greens like spinach or kale. They deliver so many nutrients that they can help you get key vitamins and minerals, plus immunity-boosting benefits.Be advised that greens can come with a decent amount of potassium. If you have CKD, talk to your doctor before adding more of these to your diet.7. Olive oilRich in antioxidants and healthy fatty acids, olive oil can boost your overall wellness. A study from Harvard Universityfound that olive oil may lower cholesterol levels and the risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia and some types of cancer.Beyond all this, it can help you add flavor to dishes without turning to salt or butter. To get more antioxidants, choose unrefined or cold-pressed olive oil that's virgin or extra virgin.8. GarlicAnother antioxidant-rich, inflammation-fighting food, garlic also contains a specific compound called allicin. For people with CKD, allicin an active compound found in garlic worked just as effectively to help protect kidney health as a prescription drug. If you're looking for the best foods for your kidneys, garlic has to make the list.Plus, it's an excellent way to add flavor when you're skimping on salt.9. OnionsFrom the same family as garlic, onions give you another excellent and salt-free way to add flavor (bonus points if you saute them in olive oil). Onions also deliver important nutrients like vitamins B6 and C, manganese and copper. They also contain quercetin, a chemical that can help your body fight cancer, and organic sulfur compounds that can reduce your risk of high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. Getty Images10. CauliflowerCauliflower brings the crunch, paired with plenty of vitamins C, B6, B9 and K, along with fiber. It also contains compounds your body can use to neutralize certain toxins, a big help when your kidneys aren't doing their best filtration work.Cauliflower does contain some potassium and phosphorus, though, so while it makes the list of foods good for kidneys, people with CKD may want to moderate their intake.11. Egg whitesEgg whites are specifically recommended for people with kidney problems. They give you a way to increase your protein levels -- which can be important with later-stage CKD, especially if you're on dialysis.12. ArugulaArugula is packed with nutrients your body needs like magnesium, iron, calcium and vitamins A, B9, C and K. Plus, it's antioxidant-rich and has glucosinolates, which can help your body protect itself against a range of cancer types. You can eat arugula raw (it's a great salad base), but you can also sprinkle it over whatever you're whipping up. It's great on pizzas, in omelets and with pasta, for example.13. ApplesApples deliver the cancer-fighting quercetin and fiber that can help to keep your cholesterol and blood sugar at healthy levels. They've got plenty of antioxidants. Better yet, they're easy to work into your diet. Leave a bowl of apples on your counter and you'll have a kidney-healthy, grab-and-go snack whenever you need one.

  • Switch 2 Filings Show Support For Wi-Fi 6
    www.nintendolife.com
Image: Nintendo LifeIn the same round of Switch 2 filings at the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in the US, it seems Wi-Fi 6 support has been confirmed. As highlighted by The Verge, Wi-Fi 6 translates to "faster Wi-Fi in your Switch 2" - with the outlet expanding on what to potentially expect on this front (and what Nintendo's new hardware won't seemingly support):"The filings show it will support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) networks with up to 80MHz of bandwidth, up from Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) on the original Switch. However, it doesnt seem to have Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E, and its only crossed the FCC with tests for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, not the faster / shorter-range 6GHz band."The same source provides a basic description of this upgrade from Wi-Fi 5 (aka the current tech for the Nintendo Switch):"Wi-Fi 6 is the next generation of Wi-Fi. Itll still do the same basic thing connect you to the internet just with a bunch of additional technologies to make that happen more efficiently, speeding up connections in the process."One other interesting finding in the latest round of filings is tied to the Switch 2's connection ports - explaining how users will apparently be able to recharge the device from either the USB-C port at the top of the screen or via the one at the bottom of the unit. Here's the description about this by test engineers:"The EUT is equipped with two rechargable USB ports (top and bottom side)"This latest update on the Switch 2 seems to have also confirmed the return of NFC support (which Nintendo has used to power amiibo functionality during previous generations). • Tammy Nam joins AI-powered ad startup Creatopy as CEO
    techcrunch.com
Creatopy, a startup that uses AI to automate the creation of digital ads, has brought on a new CEO: Tammy H. Nam.Nam was previously COO and CMO at photo-editing startup PicsArt, and before that the CEO of video streamer Viki. She told TechCrunch via email that Creatopy was looking for a US-based executive who knows how to scale early-stage startups, has worked with European founders (the product was first developed in Romania), and understands marketing tech.Fortunately, I fit that bill, she said.Nam is also joining the Creatopy board, while the startups previous CEO Dan Oros has stepped into an advisory role. The startup announced a $10 million Series A led by European VCs 3VC and Point Nine last year. In a statement, 3VC partner Eva Arh described Nam as one of the best operators I know.Between February 2024 and February 2025, the company claims to have grown mid-market and enterprise revenue by 400%, with much of that growth coming in the past six months. Customers include AstraZeneca, NASCAR, and The Economist.Whats remarkable about Creatopy especially for a relatively unknown company is our ability to land major enterprise customers in demanding industries like pharma and banking, Nam said. She added that customers love the product for our intuitive interface, unique product capabilities, and excellent customer service. In fact, she suggested that as large language models become ubiquitous, Creatopy differentiates itself based on its ability to understand customer needs and deliver perhaps ironically high-touch value on top of the AI.Nam also described brand safety as a top priority, with marketing managers uploading brand kits during account setup, and those kits ensuring that every AI-generated ad adheres to their brand guidelines. Our AI doesnt replace strategic thinking; it amplifies it, she said. Some of our customers have reported a 10x or more increase in productivity because we eliminate the tedious, manual work of generating hundreds of ad variations across sizes, formats, languages, etc.

  • Earths Oldest Impact Crater Was Just Found In Australias Outback
    www.forbes.com
A satellite image of Gosses Bluff Crater located near the center of Australia. The crater is ... [+] believed to have been created by an asteroid impact around 142 million years ago.Getty ImagesResearchers from the Curtins School of Earth and Planetary Sciences and the Geological Survey of Western Australia announced the discovery of Earths oldest meteorite impact crater, located in the very heart of the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The crater formed more than 3.5 billion years ago, making it the oldest known by more than a billion years (the previous record holder being the Vredefort structure in South Africa). In an article published on The Conversation, the authors explain how they collected evidence in the field to prove the impact origin. The Pilbara region includes some of the oldest continental crust found on Earth, with rocks of the Pilbara Craton dating around 3,8 to 2,7 billion years. The researchers analyzed an unusual layer of rocks known as the Antarctic Creek Member (this part of Australia one of the hottest of the continent is also jokingly known as the North Pole Dome), which crops out on the flanks of a dome some 20 kilometers in diameter. The Antarctic Creek Member is only 20 meters or so in thickness, and mostly comprises volcaniclastic rocks and chert deposited around 3,47 billion years ago. However, this geological formation also contains older impact spherules droplets formed from molten rock thrown up during an impact. A geological survey identified also shatter cones. Shatter cones are cone-shaped branching structures and, in nature, can only form following a meteorite impact as shock waves shatter the bedrock.Example of shatter cones preserved in limestone.D.BressanBased on the size of the central dome, the authors estimated the outer crater is about 100 kilometers in diameter one of the larger impact craters found on Earth, but by far not the largest. The authors argue that the impact could also explain how some of the oldest continental crust on Earth formed. The rocks forming the outer shell of Earth are chemically very distinct from Earths mantle, and geologists are yet not sure what triggered this change around 4 to 3 billion years ago.As the impacts blasted up enormous volumes of material and melted the rocks around them, the mantle below produced thick "blobs" of hotter and less dense volcanic material rising upwards and evolving into continental crust. The study, "A Paleoarchaean impact crater in the Pilbara Craton, Western Australia," was published in the journal nature communications.

  • Forget TrumpGoogle Apps Return To Huawei Phones
    www.forbes.com
Huawei Vs Trump round two begins.Getty ImagesWhen President Trump first took on Huawei during his initial term, the vanquishing of Google apps from the Chinese giants phones was the killer theme. Alongside the chip ban, it was this that prompted Huawei to go it alone and craft a third smartphone OS to run alongside Googles Android and Apples iOS.But now, as reported by Nikkei, owners of Huawei phones sold outside China are once again enjoying Google apps on their devices thanks to third-party tools, proving U.S. sanctions on the Chinese technology company ineffective. That third-party tools are required is mitigated by retailers doing the work for buyers. In late February, a smartphone store in Bangkok was touting that Google apps could be used on Huawei handsets with no problem. All four Huawei models, including the popular foldable Mate X6, came with the Chrome browser and Gmail app installed. And this isnt confined to Asia. Nikkei reports that today Huawei phones are sold with Google apps in many parts of the world." You may recall that when the ban was first applied, a raft of tools and workarounds turned up but were fairly quickly disabled or removed. But all these years later, with Huawei operating (kind of) independently of any U.S. tech and with its own OS rolling out, we live in very different times.Pre Trumps ban, Huawei was on course to overtake Samsung to lead global smartphone sales. It had crafted an unbeatable strategy, to match the functionality of high-end Samsung and even Apple devices at a much lower price point. The sanctions saw sales nosedive, but as I commented at the time, Huawei was always going to play the long game, and its independence from U.S. tech could prove painful. Huaweis latest set of results certainly show the company has fought its way back.Fresh from last weeks global telco show in Barcelona, Huawei is better set for what the U.S. does next than it was six years ago. Its bullish announcements around MWC and its show presence were a return to the old days. What happens next is critical.
