Morgan stands out from the crowd when it rolls down the streets. So much so that even supercars or sports cars get overshadowed by the British motor car manufacturers grand domineer. This is the Morgan Supersport that imbibes the philosophy of 21st-century coachbuilding, taking inspiration from different decades and rearranging them into a modern interpretation. The company has focused extensively on aerodynamics, as evident from the long rear body and an intimidating front with a horseshoe grille and lower grey splitter. Gone, however, are the bonnet louvers for optimized airflow.The flagship model, replacing the outgoing Plus Six, has the hallmark long bonnet, and comes with a trunk that is accessible from the outside. It will be available in two interchangeable roof versions one with a mohair soft top for beautiful weather conditions and the other a carbon-fiber hard top variant for inclement weather. Of course, you can switch them both for more flexibility in use. To top it all the Supersport seems more minimalistic with a design thats low and planted.Designer: Morgan Motor CompanyMatt Hole, managing director of Morgan has been working on the project since October 2024. Matt says that the car is built from the ground up as the geometry has fundamentally changed. He adds that the universal joints have been taken out of the steering rack for a more direct feel. The only thing thats not changed in the Supersport is the BMW-sourced B58 unit which is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six producing 335 hp. The powerful engine capable of producing 369 pound-feet of torque is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission that rotates the rear wheels. According to the official companys tests, the car clocked an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 166 mph.The roadster is built on a CXV aluminum platform on top of the ash wood frame for better torsional rigidity and suspension systems. Supersport tips the scale at 2,579 pounds giving it an excellent power-to-weight ratio that is even better than the Porsche 911 Carerra. According to Lead Chassis Engineer, Joe Whaler, the new platform ensures a more consistent vehicle response for sublime driver and ride connect, so that the sports car can be pushed to its limits with utmost confidence. Supersport gets 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels having the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires. Users can also go for the optional Dynamic Handling Pack that includes adjustable dampers and a limited-slip differential for sublime driving control.Morgan has some tricks up its sleeve for the sports car as the side windows having removable side screens can be removed right off the frame when enjoying the retracted rooftop configuration. They fit right inside the boot with space for a couple of duffle bags. On the inside, the old-school instruments with the bespoke Morgan graphics are done in the 1909 font used by the company. The central console has three microphones that employ beam-forming technology and active noise cancellation to take calls even when the wind is making it hard to listen to anything. Modern conveniences dont end here as the ride has a wireless charging pad and a state-of-the-art Sennheiser audio system.
