  • DIY HDRI Light Probe in Blender
    www.youtube.com
We're working hard to complete our next short film, and part of that work includes doing lots of tests! Here's a test of our lighting system for integrating 3D objects from Blender into our footage. This system takes advantage of IBL (image based lighting) for the indirect environment lighting, and a simple Sun Lamp to provide a directional light source. Our DIY Light Probe is created by bracketing our camera to capture three exposures (-2EV, 0EV and +2EV) while we shoot a panorama. We used Autopano to stitch the images together, and then brought each finished bracketed panorama into Photomatix to assemble the final HDRI map. We exported this as a .EXR file before finally bringing it into Blender and setting up our scene. • 3d Scanning with Agisoft PhotoScan
    www.youtube.com
We're testing out 3d mesh creation with Agisoft PhotoScan. PhotoScan is a photogrammetry program which matches points between photographs to recreate a mesh in 3d. The program is capable of much higher resolution scans, but we only have 3 GB's of RAM in our computer right now! This is our first major phase of testing with Agisoft PhotoScan. We will be using it extensively in our videos, so look for more and better scans in the near future!Want to try out Agisoft PhotoScan, or another photogrammetry program, for yourself? • Real Life GTA: Newb's First Day
    www.youtube.com
Hello! This is the introduction of a new character I created for my videos. I haven't settled on a real name for him yet, so for now, I just call him "Classy".Quick Overview: I rendered the CG elements in Cycles in Blender and composited everything in After Effects. The footage was shot on Canon Rebels. Will Tejeda created the GTA phone app seen in the video, it made it much easier than having to create another VFX shot!I hope you enjoy the video, and as always, feel free to leave any suggestions for how you think I can improve. And if you have any questions, I'll be sure to answer them as best I can!Garage model created by Papa_Dragon: https://www.blendswap.com/blend/11691

  • Titanfall: Believe
    www.youtube.com
Welp, this started out as a simple idea. I've been wanting to make a "live action" Titanfall video, but felt like I needed more practice first before I could do a good enough job. So I decided to make a "bullet time" style video with the models first. After brainstorming some ideas, I eventually remembered the old "Halo: Believe" ad, which I really liked, and so I decided to try to make something as an homage to that.I learned some new things while working on this project, including rigging characters and creating terrains. I'd like to make some simple videos demonstrating some of that stuff, so if you have any questions about how I did something, let me know and I'll do my best to explain it clearly.Special thanks to:Pierrick Piccaut: https://twitter.com/pierrick_picautHussien Shalaan: https://www.artstation.com/hussiensobhyLlamasArePink: https://twitter.com/LlamasArePinkMaurizio Memoli: https://twitter.com/Maurizio_Memolifor sharing their expert advice and skills.
